George Veinotte Bridgewater Bulletin
Dated: August 15, 1945.
The death of George Veinotte, 77, of Lake Pleasant, occurred at the Dawson Memorial Hospital on Saturday where he had been a patient for three weeks. The deceased had suffered from a lengthy illness.
He was the son of Nathaniel Veinotte and Marion Oickle and was born at Maitland, Lunenburg County.
Surviving are his widow, the former Rebina Zinck; an adopted son, Theophilus, who lives on the homestead; six sisters, Elva, wife of Heber Tufts, Simpson's Corner;
Ellam wife of Joseph Herman, Pleasant River; Daisy of Ashmore, Digby County; Emma, Sadie, and Ida in the United States; and one brother, Melford, living in the United States.
The funeral service was held on Monday afternoon at Springfield with the Rev. C. Monk, Lutheran clergyman, officiating. Interment was made at Springfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Cornelius VEINNOTTE
Mrs. Cornelius Veinnotte, Maplewood, 72, died on Sunday evening at the Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater following a short illness.
The deceased before her marriage was Miss Sophia Oickle of Maitland, and thirty years ago moved to Maplewood. A brother, Joseph Oickle, resides in Maitland. Others surviving are her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Fred Slauenwhite, New Germany; Mrs. Clarence Slauenwhite, Stanburne; Mrs. Willis Demone, First Peninsula; Charles, Maplewood with whom she resided; and a large number of grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at the home of Charles Veinnotte on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. W.R. MacWalker of Barss Corner Baptist Church officiating. Interment was made at Parkdale cemetery.

TANCOCK, Eleanor Gertrude - 87, Chester, died April 29, 1998, in Shoreham Village Nursing Home, Chester. Born in Chester, she was the fifth of seven children born to Douglas and Winnifred (Hume) Cornelius. She was a life member of the ladies auxiliaries of the Chester Volunteer Fire Department and Royal Canadian Legion, F.E. Butler Branch; longtime active member of Chester United Baptist Church, and was the first brown owl of the Chester Brownie Pack. A homemaker most of her married life, she was well known as the penny candy shopkeeper of Tancock's Corner Store in Chester during much of the 1960s and 1970s. Surviving are son, Lloyd, Dayspring; daughters, Sandra Hickey, Halifax; Barbara Tracey, Wolfville; sisters, Carolyn Veniotte, Mahone Bay; Louise MacDonald, Chester; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Ward; brothers, Paul, Frank, Roland, Earl (Babe). Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Services 2 p.m. Friday in Chester United Baptist Church, Rev. Dan Green and Dr. M. Allen Gibson officiating. Burial in Pinehill Cemetery, Chester. Mrs. Willis Demone - After a lengthy illness, Mrs. Susanna S Demone, First Peninsula, passed away peacefully at her home on October 29th, 1963, at the age of 78 years. Born at Maitland, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Sophie Veinotte. She was a member of St. John's Anglican Church. She is survived by her husband; one daughter Cora Mrs. Leigh A. Hatt), Lunenburg; one son Harold residing at home; three grandchildren Brian Hatt, Susanne and Rickey Demone; one brother Charles of Maplewood, Lunenburg County. She was predeceased by one daughter Annie; three sisters and one brother. The funeral service was held on Thursday, October 31, at 2:30 pm from St. John's Anglican Church, with Archdeacon J. H. Craven officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. Pallbearers were Fred Emeneau, John Rhuland, Harry Buckmaster and Victor Fritz.
Mrs. Ida Varner
New Germany - Mrs. Ida Fermilla Varner, widow of Kenneth Varner, of Stanburne, Lunenburg County, passed away at the Dawson
Memorial Hospital in Bridgewater on Friday.
Born in Sweetland sixty-eight years ago, Mrs. Varner was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Sophia (Oickle) Veinot.
Surviving are two daughters, Cora of Stanburne, Lydia (Mrs. Ralph Nickerson) of Shag Harbour, and two sons, Maurice and Homer of Stanburne; one sister, Susie (Mrs. Willis Demond) of Lunenburg and one brother, Charles of Maplewood.
The funeral service was held from the New Germany Anglican Church on Monday, with Rev. T.W. Thirkell officiating.
Interment was in the United cemetery in New Germany.

VEINOTE, Basil William - 87, Second Peninsula, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Hastings, Annapolis Co., he was the son of the late William and Waity (Demone) Veinote. He was employed as a block maker and a gentleman farmer for many years. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg and a former member of the True Blue Lodge. Surviving are his wife, the former Pearl Baugil; daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. Cavel Cluney), Blockhouse; Dianne (Mrs. Lawrence Keddy), Martins Brook; sisters, Lillian (Mrs. Edward Ryder), Pleasantville; Ruby Young, Marriotts Cove; brother, Frank, Second Peninsula; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren He was predeceased by sisters, Pearl, Leilia, Beatrice; brother, Cecil. Memorial service 10 a.m. today in St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Archdeacon Reginald MacDonald officiating. Burial in Martins Brook Cemetery. Frank Howard Veinote, 85, of Second Peninsula, died Saturday, September 18, at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.
Born in Second Peninsula, July 11th 1925 he was the son of the late William and Waity (DeMone) Veinote.
Frank was blessed to be able to earn a living working on the family dairy farm, continually surrounded by the environment that he loved. Over the years he also worked as a truck driver, delivered the local rural mail for over 35 years and later operated Frank’s Auto Sales.
He was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg.
Frank enjoyed life and treasured special times with his family. His outgoing personality and friendliness endeared him to his many friends and neighbours and he will be greatly missed.
Frank is survived by his wife, the former Nellie Joudrey, daughters, Elizabeth (Reginald) Bell, Blue Rocks; Melanie (Ted) Naugler, Lower Cornwall, sisters, Lillian (Edward) Ryder, Pleasantville; and Ruby Young, Wellington-Cole Harbour.
He was predeceased by an infant son, William Frank, sisters, Pearl, Leila, Beatrice, brothers, Cecil and Basil.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A service to celebrate Frank’s life will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Michael Mitchell, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

COLLICUTT, Irene Louise - 93, of Canaan, Lunenburg Co., died October 24, 2008, at home. Born in Maplewood, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Nina B. (Wentzell) Veinot. Irene was a longtime member and treasurer of Canaan Baptist Church. She worked very hard at home caring for her two disabled children and her loving daughter, Cheryl. She will be missed by her furry friends, Timmy and Tabby. Irene is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (John) Perry, Windsor Road; granddaughter, Michelle; grandson, John-Robert (Sarah) and great-grandson, Cohen. She is also survived by her sisters, Lois Turner, New Ross; Jean Webber, Dartmouth; Ruby (Sidney) Ferguson, Dalhousie; Elsie (Walter) Maughan, Lunenburg; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Steve; daughter, Connie; son, Grant; sisters, Susie Dauphinee, Ruth Meisner and Annie Joudrey and her brother, Maynard. HATT, Pearl Margaret - 87, Bridgewater, formerly of Lunenburg, died Friday, March 6, 1998, in Bigg-Strong Retirement Home, Bridgewater. Born in Springfield, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Waity (Demone) Veinotte. In her earlier years, she and her husband owned and operated Hatt's Meat Market, Lunenburg. She was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg. She is survived by sisters, Lillian (Mrs. Eddie Ryder), Pleasantville; Ruby Young, Marriotts Cove; sister-in-law, Doris, Bridgewater; brothers, Basil and wife Pearl; Frank and wife Nellie, both of Second Peninsula; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Eber; sisters, Leila, Beatrice; brother, Cecil. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today in Central United Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Robyn Brown-Hewitt officiating. MacDONALD, Marion Lousie - 90, Chester, died February 25, 1999, in Shoreham Village Home for Special Care, Chester. Born in Chester, she was a daughter of the late Douglas and Winnifred Elizabeth (Hume) Cornelius. She was a member of Chester United Baptist Church and a life long member of the Chester Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Prior to marriage, she taught school at Bayswater and Quoddy. Surviving are daughters, Juanita (Mrs. David Grugan), Bedford; Joyce (Mrs. Wayne Beaton), Halifax; Marion (Mrs. Alfred Gill), Rockingham; sister, Carolyn Veinotte, Mahone Bay Nursing Home; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
