Mrs. Delila Rafuse 1947 Bridgewater Bulletin
There passed away suddenly at the home of her daughter, in Springfield, following a brief illness, Delila Wentzell Rafuse, on April 21, in her 83 rd. year. Surviving are one daughter, Blossom, Mrs. Austin Daniels, with whom she resided for the past two and one-half years; Reginald of Parkdale; and Frank at Parkdale; Jennie, (Mrs.August Beckland) of Lynn, Mass., passed
away five years ago. Two other children, Ralph and Ruby, both died at an early age. Her husband, Hezekiah Rafuse, predeceased her 23 years ago. The funeral service took place on Thursday, April 24, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church at Parkdale. Hymns sung were "Higher Ground, " "No Night There, " and
"Saved By Grace." Interment at Parkdale Cemetery.
BECK, Irvin Lee - 89, Lunenburg, died Saturday, February 22, 1997, in Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Newburne, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late James and Georgina (Veinotte) Beck. He, with his brother Emery, started barbering in the town of Lunenburg in 1929 and continued until Emery retired in 1981. He also barbered part-time in Riverport and continued to barber in his basement until January 15 of this year. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, and a former member of Zion Lutheran Male Choir. He is survived are daughter, Rosalie and husband Rev. Oliver Osmond, London, England; sister, Viola Salsman, Waterville; grandchildren, Richard, Adrian and Cecilia, England. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Erna Viola Milbury; sisters, Idella, Millie; brothers, Howard, Emery. The family has requested no visitation. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Douglas Moore officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Arrangements entrusted to Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg.
Muriel May Daniels
Daniels, Muriel May - 74, Middleton, died March 8, 2003 in the new Halifax Infirmary QEII. Born in Maplewood, Lunenburg Co., she was the daughter of the late Austin and Blossom (Rafuse) Daniels. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond and nephew Floyd. Surviving are three nieces and two nephews. Orlin Daniels of Toronto, Ontario; Shirley Daniels of Campbell River, B.C.; Joyce Douglas, Lower Sackville, NS; Mrs. Florence Robar of North River, NS and David Daniels of Toronto, Ontario. Predeceased by Gerald Wagner, her boyfriend of many, many years was a very kind and patient man whom she appreciated immensely.
Muriel had many, many friends and relatives. She went to the school in Maplewood, she planted a tree beside the school house (which is still standing today). Muriel was a member of the Springfield United Baptist Church for many years, also a member of the Middleton United Baptist church. She also enjoyed outings, especially church, weddings, functions, funerals and greatly appreciated the receptions (especially the good food). She was also a member of the Fireflies, which she enjoyed immensely.
Muriel was a very young lady when she left her parents' home in Springfield, she went to the valley to find employment; she was employed by Scotian Gold, Canadian Canners, The American House, Steadmans for 37 years and Middleton Music and Variety Store. After Muriel retired she took care of Viola Cassidy until Viola's death. They became good friends. Muriel only lived a few years after the passing of Viola.
Muriel's body rested at Warren T. Roop Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on March 11, 2003 at Middleton Baptist Church, NS. Officiating were Rev. Dr. Byron Fenwick and Rev. Norman Hovland. Soloist was Jean Marshall-Buluik, singing Mansion Over the Hilltop and How Great Thou Art. Organist was Ms. Carole Baltzer. A reception was held following the service at the Family Life Centre. Interment was in Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, NS. Donations to charity of choice.
ANNIE EMMA VEINOT
COUNTRY HARBOUR - ANNIE EMMA VEINOT, 70, Wolfville, formerly of Crossroads, Country Harbour, died Thursday May 02, 1987 in St. Martha's Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Country Harbour, she was a daughter of Sarah and the late Henry Worth. She was a member of Wolfville United Baptist Church and Pioneer Chapter No.11, Order of the Eastern Star, Issac's Harbour. She was a residence matron at Acadia University prior to retirement in 1983. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra(Mrs. Sean Phillips), Halifax, 2 sons, Clarence, Ottawa; Dennis, Wolfville; 3 sisters, Hilda(Mrs. James Jarvis), Cooks Cove;Ina(Mrs. William Clarke), Country Harbour; Minnie (Mrs. Gordon Feltmate), Toronto; 6 brothers, Frank, Cooks Cove; Lambert, Timmins, Ont; Maurice, Sherbrooke; Walter, Country Harbour; George and Ross, both of Toronto; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Maynard; a sister, Muriel(Mrs. Arthur Feltmate) 5 brothers;Stanley, Harry, Robert, Irving and Everett. The remains are resting in Crossroads United Baptist Church, Country Harbour, where funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Internment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Country Harbour.
NAUSS, Marion Grace - 79, First Peninsula, died Friday, December 23, 2005, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Newburne, she was a daughter of the late Warren Kenneth and Carrie Lucretia (Beck) Veinotte. Marion retired after almost 30 years with National Sea Products, Lunenburg. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time with family and friends. Marion is survived by her son, Everette (Margaret) Nauss, New Minas; sister, Mildred (Murray) Jodrie, Hebbville; brother, Warren (Iris) Veinotte, Newburne; grandchildren, Heather (Doug), Coldbrook, and Julie (Dumont), New Minas; great-grandchildren, Allie Rowe, Noah Fry, Lauren Richards, Brooklyn Richards; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Aerial; sister, Pauline, and brother, Harry. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg, with visitation Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Ed Bastian officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. VEINOTTE - Pauline Marguerite - 73 Newburne, Lunenburg County died Saturday in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Born in Waterloo, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Gladys (Zwicker) Wyle. She was a teacher and taught for over 20 years in small rural schools, New Germany Rural High School and West Northfield Elementary School. She wrote a history book entitles "Newburne Then and Now" 1837-1987 "She was active in her community and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by two daughters, Iris (Mrs. Warren Veinotte) Newburne; Laverne, (Mrs. Robert Slauenwhite) Margaretsville, two sisters Kathleen, (Mrs. Eldridge Milbury) Newburne, Muriel (Rita)( Mrs. Laurie MacKay) Stanley Section; a brother Lyman Wyle, Waterloo; four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Basil; a sister Merna Hirtle. The body is in Sweeney's Funeral Home. Bridgewater, with visiting 2-4, 7-9 PM today. Funeral will be 3 PM Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bridgewater, with Bishop Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Newburne cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation or any Charity.
Dilphen Veinotte
Barss Corner, Mar. 15 - The death of Dilphen Veinotte, Newburne, occurred at his home on Tuesday, Mar. 9, after a long illness, at the age of 63 years. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Veinotte of Newburne. He leaves to mourn, his wife, who was formerly Hilda Wentzell from Maplewood; four sons, Raymond, Ralph and Aubrey of Livermore Falls, Me.; Basil at home and a daughter, Leah, at home; also two grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, (Georgina) Mrs. James Beck, Newburne; (Ida) Mrs. Thomas Falkenham, Kentville; (Mae) Mrs. Fred Wentzell, West Newton, Mass.; and one brother, Enos, Loudon, N.H. One son, Walter, predeceased him six months ago. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Rasmussen on Thursday afternoon at the Lutheran Church, Newburne, of which he was a member. Interment in Newburne cemetery.

SLAUENWHITE, Burpee Lee - 81, Stanburne, Lunenburg Co., passed away December 29, 2004, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Stanburne, he was a son of the late Clarence and Cora (Veinot) Slauenwhite. He was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. During his working years, he was a carpenter, farmer and Christmas tree producer and continued growing trees after retirement and was very proud of his tree lot. As a young man, he enlisted in the Canadian Army and trained in Vancouver. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102, New Germany, and enjoyed camping in the summertime with his wife and meeting many new friends on their travels. Surviving are his wife, the former Mae Pearlene Oickle; sons, Robert (Laverne), Margaretsville; Herbert (Dianne), Wentzell Lake; grandchildren, Derek (Jessica), Colin, Tanya (Blake) Johnson and Shane; brother, Pearlie (Ella), Stanburne; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Harley; sisters, Beatrice Taylor, Evelyn Slauenwhite; brother, Joseph. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, New Germany, with funeral 11 a.m. Friday in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church or charity of choice.

MAHONE BAY - Eva E. Hubley, 91, of Mahone Bay, died Tuesday in Eastern Passage. Born in New Ross, she was a daughter of the late William and Julia (Collins) Bezanson. She is survived by three sons, Lindsay, Mahone Bay; Robert and Roy; both of new Cornwall; a sister Mrs. Olive Kempton, in Massachusetts; 16 grandchildren and several great- grandchildren. She was predeceased her husband George; seven sisters, Hattie, Agnes, Jennie, Annie, Flossie, Ruby and Lottie; three brothers, Jim, Steve and George. The body is in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone bay. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, in United Baptist Church, Mahone Bay. Lic Dale Rose officiating. Buriel will be in Park Cemetery, Mahone bay. Donations may be made to United Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Mahone Bay.

MEISNER, Carmon Stewart - 79, New Germany, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2005, at home with his wife, family and caregivers by his side. Born in Stanley Section, he was a son of the late Carmon and Bernice (Beck). He was a retired farmer having jointly owned and operated Meisner Brothers Poultry Farm with his brother Atwood for many years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany, where he was a past choir member; a member and past master of Hillcrest Masonic Lodge 93, New Germany. He was a blood donor for many years, having contributed over 100 donations. Carmon enjoyed traveling, camping, was an avid gardener, and for many years he was politically active in the community. Surviving are his wife, the former Myra Ruth Veinot; sons, Orval (Julie), South Brookfield; Faron (Lisa), Coldbrook; sister, June Connell, Kentville; brother, Atwood (Phyllis), New Germany; grandchildren, Chelsea, Emily; Lynsey, Lauren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany with a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m. Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany, Rev. Larry Ehrhardt officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Immediate family flowers only, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Hillcrest Masonic Lodge or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. We, the family, would like to thank the personal caregivers for the comfort, care and dedication shown during Dad's sickness and especially during the past few days.
Raymond P. Veinotte, 72, died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 5, 1977 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Livermore Falls where he had been a patient since Monday. He was born in Newburne August 30, 1905, the son of Dilphon and Hilda Wentzell Veinotte. He was educated in Newburne School system and married Vernetta Ramey of Newburn, July 4, 1921 in Mahone Bay. Mr. Veinotte came to this community in 1924 and he and his wife had resided on Pine Street. He had been employed by International Paper Co. having worked in the sulphite and rewinders department. He retired in 1970 after 43 years of employment. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of IPC and a member of Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church of Livermore Falls. Surviving are his widow of Livermore Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Grover; Fayette; three brothers, Ralph of Livermore Falls; Basil of Newburne and Aubry of Readfield; a sister, Leah Scott, Sackville, N.S.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
