Ralph R. Veinotte
Farmington - Ralph R. Veinotte, 95, a resident of Oak Street, Jay, died Saturday Aug. 28, 2004 at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Wednesday.
He was born Nov. 7, 1908, in Newburn, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Delphen and Hilda Wentzel Veinotte. He attended school in Newburn.
He married Dorothy McEwen, April 15, 1936 in Livermore Falls, Maine. They made their home for many years on Knapp Street, Livermore Falls, before moving to Jay. She died Oct. 27, 2002.
Ralph worked in the steam plant at International Paper Co. from 1936 until his retirement in 1973. As of Aug. 27, he was the oldest living IP retiree.
He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of International Paper Company.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and picking berries.
He is survived by his son, Maynard Veinotte and his wife, Louise of East Jay, two grandchildren, Pamela Wildes and her companion, Raymond Legassie, of South Portland and Richard Veinotte and wife Tammie of Canaan: three great-grandchildren, Garrett and Courtney Veinotte and Whitney Wildes; a sister, Leah Scott of Halifax, Nova Scotia and two nieces and a nephew also of Canada. His great-niece still has the family farm.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Raymond, Walter, Aubrey and Basil Veinotte.

There passed away at her home in Newburne on March 3 rd, Anna Georgina, wife of James Beck, at the age of 78 years. Although in failing health for several years, her death after a week in bed came as a shock to relatives and friends.
She was born in Newburne on February 1, 1871, eldest daughter of the late William and Lucretia Veinotte.
She leaves to mourn, besides her husband; three daughters, Idella, Mrs.Sidney Carver, New Germany; Millie, Mrs. Stanley Corkum, Danvers, Mass.; Viola, Mrs. Donald Salsman, Waterville, Kings County; three sons, Emery and Lee of Lunenburg; and Howard, at home. Also surviving are two sisters, Ida, Mrs. Thomas Faulkenham of Dorchester, Mass.; and May, Mrs. Fred Wentzell of West Newton, Mass; and 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A sister and two brothers predeceased her.
Funeral services were held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, of which the deceased was a faithful member, on Saturday afternoon. Rev. J.S. Dauphinee, of Mahone Bay, conducted the service.
Hymns sung were "Asleep in Jesus, " "My Faith Looks Up to Thee, " and the choir sang "The Old Rugged Cross." Pall bearers were Donald Salsman, Gordon Wentzell, Harold Langille, and Maurice Veinotte. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery.
JOUDREY, DOROTHY MARGARET 87, Hillside Pines, Bridgewater, formerly of Newburne, Lunenburg Co. dies October 13, 1998 in the residence. Borne in Newburne, she was the daughter of the late Ozam and Albertha (Eisenhauer)) Veinotte. She was a member of St. Mathew's Lutheran Church, Newburne and past member of Rebekah's. Surviving are sons, George, Bridgewater; Curtis, Newburne, four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Oran; brother, Lawrence. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 PM today in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral 2 PM Friday in St. Mathew's Lutheran Church, Newburne, Rev. Ted Heinze officiating. Burial in St. Mathew's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Newburne. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mathew's Lutheran Church building Fund.
Oran Gilbert Joudrey, Newburne, passed away Monday, November 6, 1972, at West Northfield at the age of 60. Born at Maplewood, he was the son of the late Charles and Mina (Conrad) Joudrey.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Veinotte; two sons, George of Bridgewater; Curtis of Halifax; three grandchildren, Kenneth, Aleson, and Jennifer; two sisters, Marjorie (Mrs. Clarence Dexter) of Brooklyn, Queens County; Ruth (Mrs. James Carver) of LaHave; two brothers, Roy and Robert of Maplewood. One brother, Charles, predeceased him in World War Two, Italy, May 25, 1944.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, November 9, at St.Matthew's Lutheran Church, Newburne, by Pastor Rev. Rolf Meindl. Mrs. Avery Lantz was organist. Choirs from New Germany Lutheran Church, Maplewood and Parkdale Baptist and Newburne sang, "What A Friend We Have in Jesus, " "My Faith Looks Up to Thee, " and "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind." Interment was in the Newburne Cemetery.
Mrs. Idella May Carver, wife of Sidney Carver, died at her home in New Germany at the age of 74.
Born in New Burne, Mrs. Carver was the daughter of the late James and Georgina (Veinot) Beck. Her early life was spent in New Burne, moving to New Germany 20 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Sidney; three daughters, Bernice (Mrs.Bert Milbury), of New Burne; Helen (Mrs. Harold Langille), of New Burne; Reta (Mrs. Burpee Meisner), of New Minas; and three sons, John with the RCAF in Northfield, Ontario; James of Bridgewater; and Paul with the RCAF in Metz, France. Also surviving are one sister, Viola (Mrs. Donald Salsman) of Waterville; and three brothers, Howard of New Burne; and Emery and Lee of Lunenburg.
The funeral service was conducted from the Lutheran Church in New Burne with Rev.Hector Magalee officiating. Interment was in the New Burne Cemetery.

Howard Edgar Beck, age 89, a much respected citizen of Newburne, passed away on Monday, February 28, 1983, at the home of William and Margaret Milbury, Newburne.
Born in Newburne, he was the son of the late James and Georgina (Veinotte) Beck.
Surviving are a sister, Viola (Mrs. Donald Salsman), Waterville; a brother, Lee, Lunenburg.
He ws predeceased by two sisters, Idella (Mrs. Sydney Carver) and Milly (Mrs.Stanley Corkum) and a brother, Emery of Lunenburg.
The body rested at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral service was held from St.Matthew's Lutheran Church, Newburne at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3. Rev. Gustafson officiated. Hymns sung were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Burial was in Newburne Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gordon and Leaman Wentzell, Enos and Stanley Corkum, Donald Beck, and Eldridge Milbury.
Emery L. Beck, 157 Brook Street, passed away suddenly at home, Thursday, August 19, 1982. Born at Newburne, Lunenburg County, he was a son of the late James and Georgina (Veinote) Beck.
He moved to Lunenburg in 1929 and was in partnership with his brother, Lee, in Beck's Barber Shop, where he worked 52 years and nine months, until his retirement late last year. He was a devoted member of Zion's Lutheran Church, Lunenburg.
He is survived by his wife, the former Vera M. Milbury; two brothers, Howard, Newburne; and Lee, Lunenburg; one sister, Viola (Mrs. Donald Salsman) Waterville.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Idella and Millie.
Funeral service was Sunday, August 22 at 2 p.m. in Zion's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carroll Fritz officaiting, assisted by Rev. Oliver Osmond.
DEMONE, Minnie Esther - 69, Hillside Pines Nursing Home, Bridgewater, formerly of Meisners Section, Lunenburg County, died December 12, 1993, in the home. Born in North River, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late James Edwin and Annabella (Robar) Sarty. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River. She is survived by her husband, Fred; two daughters, Luccile (Mrs. Gary Doucette), Conquerall Bank; Pamela Demone, Meisners Section; three sisters, Mary (Mrs. Wilfred Robar), Elva Sarty, both of North River; Vivian (Mrs. Robert Frank), Brickton, Annapolis County; two brothers, David, Paul, both of North River; half-sister, Alice (Mrs. Twining Crouse), Cherryfield; a granddaughter. She was predeceased by a sister, Florence in infancy; brother, Fred; five half-sisters, Elsie, Gladys, Blanche, Lillian, Sadie; two half-brothers, Dorwin, Mark. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Langille's Funeral Home, 5267 Main St., New Germany. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rev. Robert Robb officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. Donations may be made to Hillside Pines Nursing Home or South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Avard E. Begin
Funeral service for the late Avard E. Begin was held on November 23, 1972 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with interment being in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
Born in Mahone Bay, he was the son of the late John Begin and Lilla Oxner. He is survived by his wife, Margaret and son Jack, Dartmouth; two sisters, Mrs. Daisy McKenna, Summerside, P.E.I.; Mrs. Rose Martin, Washington, D.C.; one foster brother, Carl Ernst, Liverpool and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters.

Mrs. Minetta Veinot, widow of Hibbert B. Veinot, passed away at the Fishermen's Memorial Hosptial on Thursday, December 28th at the age of 87. In uncertain health, the end came unexpectedly. Mrs. Veinot was known as Gramma Hibble by many. She had a retiring nature but was always ready to lend a helping hand to those who needed her. Her quiet, dignity was a constant inspiration to family and friends. Mrs. Veinot usually spent the winter months with her son James, Mahone Bay but this year she was with her daughter Ida (Mrs. Harold Langille) at Northwest. She was one of the oldest members of St. James Church and attended church until October; she was very devoted to her family, church and a faithful member of the Women's Institute, Blockhouse. Surviving are four daughters, Edith (Mrs. Charles F. Joudrey), Bridgewater; Gertrude (Mrs. Fred Begin) Mahone Bay; Ida (Mrs. Harold Langille) Northwest; Pauline, on the Teaching Staff, Lunenburg Academy; four sons, Robert, Hantsport; Harry, Blockhouse; James, Mahone Bay; John, Somerville, Mass.; 27 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 9 great, great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. A son George and infant Stephen predeceased her; on sister Flo (Mrs. Eben Mader, Cambridge, Mass. Funeral service was held at St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay on Sunday, December 31st at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Harry Corbin officiating, preceded by family prayers at Freeman's Funeral Home.
