NAUSS, Evelyn Pauline - 95, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Watford, she was a daughter of the late Truman and Nina (Zinck) Veinot. She was educated as a teacher, having taught in many one room school houses and later finishing her career and retiring at West Northfield Elementary School, West Northfield. She was a member of Epworth United Church, New Germany. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her daughter, Alice (Jerry) Rafuse, Parkdale; stepdaughter, Bonnie (Orie) Wentzell, New Germany; sons, Quentin (Arlene) Moore, Halifax; Victor (Marilyn) Moore, New Germany; grandchildren, David, Carson, Kevin, Cathy; Vance, Ruth, Kim; Julie; Amy, Aaron, Arden; stepgrandchildren, Graham, Trudy, Dwaine; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Alexander Nauss; sons, Sherman, Lewis; sisters, Grace Hampton, Alice Beck; brothers, Albert, Earl, Clarence, Richard, and Joseph; grandson, Richard. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday in Epworth United Church, Rev. Joan Conrad officiating. Private family burial in Epworth Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Epworth United Church, South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater or charity of choice.

James Emeneau
The community of Simpson's Corner was shocked to hear on Friday, March 10th, of the sudden passing of Mr. James Emeneau, a highly respected citizen. Mr. Emeneau had not been in the best of health, his condition was not considered serious. He was doing his farm work as usual when he succumbed to a heart attack and was found lying in the wood shed by his daughter when he failed to answer her call to dinner. The deceased was born at Midville Branch 81 years ago. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his widow, who is seriously ill. Before her marriage she was Miss Amanda Oickle of Upper Branch. Surviving are five daughters, Doris (Mrs. Achue) of North Grafton, Mass.; Claudia (Mrs. N.H. Langille); Alda (Mrs. Arleigh Varner); Violet, widow of Arthur Varner of New Germany; Mabel (Mrs. Dennis Nauss), who resides on the homestead, Simpson's Corner; four sons, George of North Grafton, Mass.; Everette, U.S.A.; Robert and Charles, Simpson's Corner. A son, Garfield and daughter, Mildred predeceased him several years ago. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, services at the home and grave conducted by the Rev. C. monk of the Lutheran Parish, Midville. Burial was in the Hemford Cemetery.

EIKLE, Jean Gertrude - 66, Bridgewater, formerly of Maitland, Lunenburg County, died November 23, 1992, at home. Born in Oak Hill, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Smith) Wagner. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Mrs. LeVon Hazel), Conquerall Bank; Maxine (Mrs. David Conrad), Lower Sackville; son, Carl, Lake Centre; four sisters, Jessie Cross, Pauline Fraser, both of Hebbville; Ruth (Mrs. Vic Flemming), Halifax; Diane (Mrs. Tony Thibodeau), First South; two brothers, Wallace, Maitland; Ronald, Chelsea; seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Glenwood; son, Andrew; four brothers, Douglas, Lawrence, Donald, infant Paul. The body is in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in Christ Anglican Church, Maitland, Rev. Rod Gillis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Mental Health Unit of South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

HUBLEY, Leroy R. - 73, Middle Cornwall, Lunenburg County, died Saturday at home. Born in Farmington, he was a son of the late George and Eva (Bezanson) Hubley. he is survived by his wife, the former Frances Webber; four sons, Harley, Middle Cornwall; Douglas, Upper Cornwall; Raymond, Maitland; Cedric. Plymouth; a brother, Lindsay, mahone Bay; six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert. The body is in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, New Cornwall United baptist Church, Rev. Dale Rose officiating. Buriel in church cemetery. Donations may be made to New Cornwall United Baptist Church or any charity.

Sarty, Robert Leaman "Bob" - 87, of Middle LaHave, passed away May 31, 2009 in the Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Leaman and Christy (Weagle) Sarty. He served as a merchant marine during the Second World War and later with the Canadian Coast Guard. He enjoyed singing, dances and gardening. He was a member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church and The Golden Youth Club (Dayspring). He is survived by his partner, Laverne Naugler; children, William “Bill” (Nancy); Warren (Ruth); Una Banfield (Orval); John (Sandy); 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey (Taylor); sister, Nellie Sarty; granddaughter, Cheryl Banfield. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday in Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Upper LaHave. Burial will follow in the Middle LaHave Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church or the M. S. Society of Nova Scotia.

ROBINSON, Annie Laurena - 87, of Nictaux, died August 18, 2004, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Lake Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Annie (Acker) Robar. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill"; sisters, Bernice and Myrtle; brothers, Amos and Ellis. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Nictaux Community Cemetery, Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Mrs. Leo Feindel - Martins Point - Mrs. Leo Feindel, 68, of Martin's Point, Lunenburg County, died Sunday in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in North River, Lunenburg County, she was the former Hilda Robar, daughter of the late Stephen and Clara (Demone) Robar. Surviving besides her husband are one daughter Minerva (Mrs. Robert Shupe), Edmonton, Alta; one son Everett, Martin's Point; two brothers Stanley and Manson, both of North River; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, two sisters, and four brothers. The body is at the Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 pm in St. Mark's Anglican Church, Western Shore, Rev. William Dye officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

WAGNER, Goldie Muriel - 84, North River, Lunenburg Co., formerly of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2006, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Upper Branch, she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Lulu (Hirtle) Crouse. Surviving are her brother, Burgess (Mary) Crouse, Nineveh; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Wagner; sisters, Evelyn Smith and Marion Acker. Visitation today 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany, where a private family service will be held, Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial in Falkland Ridge Cemetery, Falkland Ridge. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Victorian Order Nurses, Falkland Ridge Cemetery, South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice.

Jeremiah Garold Robar, age 63, of Seffernville, died Oct. 21, at Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, following surgery. Born at Cherryfield, Lunenburg County, he was the son of the late Stephen and Clara (DeMone) Robar.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma M. (Naugler) Robar; two sons, Ira, Seffernville, and Harold L., Halifax; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. (Flody) Laurie Crouse, Nictaux; Mrs. (Hilda) Leo Feindel, Martin's Point; four brothers, Ralph, Lorimer, Manson, and Stanley, all of Cherryfield.

WAGNER, Maurice Henley - 80, Bridgewater, died May 13, 1997, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in New Canada, he was a son of the late Alton and Elva (Sarty) Wagner. He was employed with Bowater Mersey Paper Co. for 46 years. Surviving are his wife, the former Jean Fancey; sons, Dwight, Weymouth; Troy, Halifax; daughters, Gloria Barkhouse, Hubbards; Valerie Drennan, New Germany; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Basil, Hemford; Glen, New Glasgow; Richard, Berwick; sisters, Olive Benson, South Yarmouth, Mass.; Pearl Gibson, Dedham, Mass.; foster sister, Alice Jefferson, Val Caron, Ont. He was predeceased by sisters, Florence Arenburg, Lorna Dorey, Myrtle Wagner; brothers, Moyle, Lowell. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 1:30 p.m. Friday, both in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater, Rev. James Slack officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. WHYNOT, Berlyn Whitford - 75, Springfield, Annapolis Co., died Friday, August 23, 2002, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Martin Henry and Florence Myrtle (Oickle) Whynot. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors and worked in the woods most of his life. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Whynot, Springfield; son, Berlyn Eugene, Springfield; granddaughter, Josie, Bridgewater; grandson, Daniel, Bridgewater; sisters, Beatrice Drew, Lona Burgoyne, Eva Daniels, all of Cherryfield; Eleanor Robar, North River; June Cloney, McAdam, N.B.; brothers, Basil, Foster, both of Cherryfield. He was predeceased by sisters, Audrey, Rose, Shirley, Marjorie; brothers, Russell, Eugene, Bernard, Medford. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral service will be held in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, 2 p.m. today, Rev. Jim Slack Jr. officiating. The body has been cremated and burial of the ashes will be at a later date. Donations may be made to the family, Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of your choice.

JOUDREY, Lloyd R., - 66, Upper Cornwall, Lunenburg County, died December 1, 1992, in Upper Cornwall. Born in Upper Cornwall, he was a son of Lillian (Veinotte) Joudrey, Upper Cornwall and the late Frank Joudrey. He was a member of Maritime Ox Association. He is survived by his companion, Shirley Joudrey; two sisters, Cheryl (Mrs. Dwight Wyman), Five Islands, Halifax County; Isabel (Mrs. Noble Veinot), Bridgewater; brother, Donald, Upper Cornwall; several nieces and nephews. The body is in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in United Baptist Church, New Cornwall, Rev. Andrew Crowell officiating. Burial will be in New Cornwall Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to New Cornwall United Baptist Church or S.H.A.I.D. Animal Shelter.

Nellie Louise Sarty, 89, Bridgewater, died November 25, 1997, at home. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Leaman and Christy (Weagle) Sarty. She was a clerk at the former Olive and Taylor Drug Store for 45 years. Surviving are brother, Robert, Middle LaHave; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. No visitation by request. Memorial service 2 p.m. Monday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. James Slack officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. No flowers by request. Donations to any charity.

MR. ISAAC KEDDY
Berwick Register, February 2, 1916
There passed away at Millville, Aylesford, after a long and painful illness, borne with Christian fortitude, Mr. Isaac Keddy, aged seventy two years. He was born in New Ross, Lunenburg County, where the early part of his life was spent. He married early in life, Caroline Veinott, of Mahone Bay, who survives him, together with four sons, two daughters, twenty-three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Thirty six years ago he moved to Aylesford, where the remainder of his life was spent. A kind husband and father, a man liked and respected by all who knew him, he will be much missed by friends and neighbors of the community in which he lived, as well as by a host of old friends of his younger days in Lunenburg County. He was a member of the Anglican Church and was buried at St. Mary's Church, Auburn, his pastor, Rev. Mr. Parlee, officiating.

CALDWELL, Donald Rodney - 71, Centrelea, Annapolis Co., passed away November 11, 2007, in Kingston. Born in Arlington, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late Stewart and Margaret (Taylor) Caldwell. Donald worked at V.J. Rice Concrete for over 34 years as a truck driver. He loved horses and was a cowboy fan. He especially liked Roy Rogers. He is survived by daughter, Connie Taylor (Maxwell Robar), Bridgetown East; son, Toby Richard (Darlene Stailing), Round Hill; grandchildren, Tammy, Ivan, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Christine, Timothy, and Isabell; brother, Lawrence (Nancy), Paradise; Bernie, Centrelea; Leon (Hilda), Lawrencetown. He was predeceased by is wife, Frances Pauline Taylor; daughter, Elizabeth, and grandson, John Nicholas. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Cremation will then take place and funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Centrelea Baptist Church, Rev. George Neily officiating. Interment will be in Centrelea Cemetery. Donations in memory may be sent to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society. A reception will follow in Bridgetown Royal Canadian Legion.

John G. Woodworth
On Monday, Nov. 8, John G. Woodworth age 70, of Bridgewater, passed away suddenly at the D.M. Hospital. Born in Bridgewater, he was the only son of the late Asher and Ella (Sarty) Woodworth. He was a retired locomotive engineer with C.N. Rail. Past Noble Grand of LaHave Lodge # 60, I.O.O.F. Past Grand Patriarch, Captain (R) of Canton Swastika # 6, Past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #367, a member of the Atlantic Rebekah Lodge #52, vice president of theCAMR Ark Workshop. IN 1973-74 he received the highest honors of the Order. The Grand Declaration of Chivalry. Late member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving his passing, wife Greta (Bush) Woodworth, four sons, Bruce of Toronto; John Jr., Robert and Keith all of Bridgewater; four daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Calvin Mulock), Rhodes Corner; Carolee Richardson, Martin's Point; Marion (Mrs. Glenwood Lowe), Auburndale; Olive at home; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one grandson and one great-grandson.
