VEINOTTE, Janet Marie Frances - 83, Blockhouse, Lunenburg Co., died December 26, 2003, at home. Born in Blockhouse, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Eva (Mader) Graversgaard. She is survived by son, James (Deborah); sisters, Pauline Balcome, Noona Adams, Virginia Keefe; grandsons, Jeremy and Christopher Veinotte. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis; brother, Jens; infant brother, Andrew. No visiting by request. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 29, in St. James' Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Old Blockhouse Cemetery. PELTON, Albert Freeman - 47, Waterville, Kings Co., died June 15, 1996, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, he was a son of Jean (Veinotte) Pelton, Waterville and the late Kenneth A. Pelton. He was employed at Larsen Packers Ltd., Berwick until 1994. He was an active horseman and a member of the Western Nova Scotia Draft Horse Association, the Lawrencetown Exhibition, the Children's Wish Foundation and since 1969, a member of Waterville and District Volunteer Fire Department, becoming a veteran in 1984. Surviving are brothers, Donald, Sterling, Waterville; sisters, Linda Haggerty, Berwick; Sharron (Mrs. Russell Bent), Waterville; Shirley (Mrs. David Ritchie), Auburn; Lousie (Mrs. Samuel Dalton), Brampton, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday, both in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick, Rev. Ralph Lepore officiating. Burial in Berwick Cemetery. NAUSS, Donald Alexander - 86, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., died February 2, 1999, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Farmington, he was a son of the late Joshua and Zilpha (Conrad) Nauss. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany. He was a retired carpenter and foreman for Acadia Construction, Bridgewater. He was an avid gardener, carpenter, enjoyed camping and the outdoors. He was a past member of the Lunenburg County Bluegrass Association. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife, the former Evelyn Veinot; daughter, Bonnie (Mrs. Orie Wentzell), New Germany; stepdaughter, Alice (Mrs. Gerald Rafuse), Parkdale; stepsons, Victor Moore, New Germany; Quentin Moore, Halifax; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Alice Meisner; sisters, Sadie, Maymie, Alice; brothers, Ernest, Archie, Laurie, Harry, Robert; stepsons, Sherman, Lewis. Alma Jean Oickle
Upper Northfield - It was with deep sorrow and regret that a large circle of relatives and friends learned of the passing on Monday evening, May 7, 1984 at Hillside Pines ""Home of Special Care"" of Alma Jean Oickle, age 81, widow of the late Hubert Oickle of Upper Northfield. The late Mrs. Oickle was born Sept. 30, 1902, at Upper Northfield and was the daughter of the late Leander and Laura (MacKay) Veinot. She was a member of Mr. Calvary Lutheran Church, the L.C.W., Hawthorne Rebekah Lodge of New Germany, the U.C.W. and a former member of the Womens' Institute. She is survived by one daughter Hope (Mrs. Lincoln Lohnes) and one son Debney, both of Upper Northfield; one brother Leon, also of Upper Northfield; four granddaughters and seven great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband in 1968, and a sister Mary (Mrs. James Silver). The body rested at Sweeny's Funeral Home where on Wednesday evening the Rebekah Lodge held a memorial service. Funeral Service which was largely attended was held from St. Calvary Lutheran Church on Thursday morning, May 10 at 11 a.m. and was conducted by Rev. Wm. Gustafson, assisted by Rev. Gary Patterson. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Upper Northfield."
Percy L. Oickle - Barss Corner, Lunenburg County - Percy Lloyd Oickle, 79, of Barss Corner, died Friday in Cole Harbor. Born in Lower Northfield, he was a son of the late Henry and Janetta (Fancy) Oickle. He was a member of Epworth United Church, New Germany. He is survived by four daughters, Myra (Mrs. Arlee Delond), Bridgewater; Maysie (Mrs. Bert Stewart), Mount Forest, Ont; Marie (Mrs. Charles Cook), Charlottetown; Janetta (Mrs. Hector Powers), Bridgewater; fifteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Luella May Whynot; and two brothers, Hubert and Basil. The body is at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 pm in Epworth United Church, Rev. Sandy McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Barss Corner Community cemetery. COLLICUTT, Grant Brian - 57, Canaan, Lunenburg Co., died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of Irene (Veinot) Collicutt, Canaan, and the late Steve Collicutt. Grant owned and operated a convenience store in his home. He had a long battle with Friedreich's Ataxia but maintained a great sense of humour. He enjoyed visitors, loved watching movies and lived each day as if there was another to follow. His favourite saying was, "I have 99 years to live and I still have 49 left". Grant is survived by his mother, Irene; devoted sister, Cheryl and her husband John Perry; loving niece, Michelle, and nephew, John-Robert, all of Windsor Road. He was predeceased by his father, Steve, and sister, Connie. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Chester United Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Green officiating. Burial in Sherwood Cemetery at a later date. ACKER, Murray Collins - 76, Kentville, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2006, at home. Born in Canning, he was a son of the late George and Lillian (Burns) Acker. He was employed with Robinson Oil Limited, Kentville, for over 30 years. He was a member and former elder of the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, Kentville. He was a former Past Master of the Kentville Masonic Lodge No. 58, a past patron of the Evangeline Chapter 15 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kentville, and the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley McDowell; daughter, Shelley (Elaine Parsons) Acker, Kentville; son, David, Newton, Mass. There will be no visitation by family request. A funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 8, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Rev. Dr. Randy Crozsman officiating. Family flowers only, by request. HUBLEY, Isabell Marjorie — 90, of Bayswater, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, in the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. Born in Blandford, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Oda (Gates) Cleveland. Isabel was an inspiration to all with her calm, giving and gentle spirit. She was devoted to her family, being very proud of all her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed knitting, hooking rugs and sewing. She was also a former member and supporter of All Saints Anglican Church. Isabell was very fond of her kitty. Survived by her daughters, Erma Bremner, Chester; Dorothy (David) Zwicker, Western Shore; grandchildren, Marie (Terry) Giffin, Isabel (Doug) Oickle, Tom (Carol) Bremner, Andrea (Greg) Swinamer, Anita (Raymond) Wilwand; and six great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; brothers, Bruce, Wilfred and Granville; sisters, Clara, Pauline, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; brothers, Lincoln, Clarence, John, Richard; sisters, Marion, Stella. Our dear Isabell will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. LANGILLE, Orbin Wilfred -89, Blockhouse, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008, at home. Born in Blockhouse, he was a son of the late Enos and Alice (Ernst) Langille. In his earlier years he was employed with the Mersey Pulp and Paper Company in Liverpool. An avid outdoorsman, he was blessed to be able to earn a living working in the woods, continually surrounded by the environment that he loved. Orbin enjoyed supplying wood and Christmas trees to many in the area. A warm welcome always greeted family and friends and he was known to enjoy a good competitive game of cards. Orbin was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his companion, Mae Hiltz, Martin's River, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Clara, Emily Effie, Lottie, Elva, Charlotte, Letitia and brothers, Ozem, Allen, Orin, Lawrence and Robie. Friends are invited to share their memories of Orbin during visitation in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. 3, Lunenburg, Wednesday, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate Orbin's life will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. HUBLEY, Frances Leota - 86, Middle Cornwall, Lunenburg Co., died Tuesday, November 15, 1999, in the Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born in Middle Cornwall, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Ella (Mossman) Webber. She was a life member of the New Cornwall Baptist Church, Middle Cornwall where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member and was church organist for 47 years. She was a dedicated volunteer in her community and church. Surviving are sons, Harley, Newburne; Douglas, Upper Cornwall; Raymond, Maitland; Cedric, Plymouth, Yarmouth Co.; sisters, Gertrude Veinot, Maplewood; Thelma Pierce, Halifax; Zella Burns, New Germany; Marie Snyder, Barss Corner; Thurza London, Woodstock, N.B.; brothers, Franklin Webber, New Germany; Leroy Webber, Barss Corner; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy and two siblings in infancy. No visitation by request. Funeral 11 a.m. Friday, in New Cornwall Baptist Church, Rev. Roxanne McGaw officiating. MRS. A. R. LORD
A former Nova Scotian, Mrs. A. R. Lord, passed away yesterday at Benton Harbor, Michigan. Mrs. Lord was the former Samantha Ernst of Simpson's Corner, Lunenburg County. Her first husband, John Arthur Lowe, a veteran of the First World War predeceased her. Mrs. Lord was born in Simpson's Corner and resided in Nova Scotia the greater part of her life. She moved to Brenton Harbor about 10 years ago. A member of the Church of England, she was active in church circles all her life.
Surviving besides her husband, are eleven children, Elwin Lowe, Bridgetown; Fred Lowe, Chipman, N.B.; Mrs. Gordon Bealer, St. George, N.B.; Lawton Lowe, Stanley, Hants County; Mrs. Kirk Whalen, St. Margarets Bay; Mrs. Eugene Mader, Chester; Mrs. Clyde Zinck, East Chester; Mrs. Obie Snider, Halifax; Mrs. Lloyd Veinot, Simpson's Corner; Glen Lowe, Bridgewater and Murray Lowe, Halifax. Two children predeceased her. The remains will be forwarded to New Germany and the funeral will be held from the home of Mrs. Lloyd Veinot of Simpson's Corner.

Clarence William Veinote
After a short illness, the death occurred September 12, at the Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater, of Clarence William Veinote, aged 30 years, son of Mrs. Trueman Veinote and the late Trueman Veinote of Watford.
Possessing a quiet disposition he had many relatives and friends who regret his passing. Surviving are his wife, formerly Miss Dorothy Drew; his mother; four brothers and two sisters;
Albert, Earl, Richard, Joseph, (Evelyn) Mrs. Clifford Moore and Grace. One sister, Alice, predeceased him.
The funeral service was held on Wednesday from the family home and was conducted by Rev.W.H. Palmer of the United Church, who based his address on thoughts found in Psalm 23. Hymns sung were "Nearer, My God, To Thee, " "Sun of My Soul Thou Saviour Dear, " and "I Need Thee Every Hour." Pallbearers were Nelson Knox, Eldred Fancy, Lawrence Silver, Crosfield Bell, Elmer Penney, and Arnold Lohnes. Interment was made at the Indian Brook Cemetery.
