LANGILLE, Robie St. Clair - 82, Blockhouse, Lunenburg Co., died January 20, 1995, in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born at Langilles Lake, Blockhouse, he was a son of the late Enos and Alice Victoria (Ernst) Langille. He was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay and was a woodsman all of his life. Surviving are sons, Gerald, Oakhill, Lunenburg Co.; Vernon, Caledonia; sisters, Mrs. Letitia Veinot, Blockhouse; Mrs. Charlotte Robar, Mahone Nursing Home; brother, Orbin, Blockhouse; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Clara, Emily, Effie, Elva, Lottie; brothers, Ozem, Allen, Orin, Lawrence. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Linda MacDonald officiating. Burial in Old Blockhouse Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only. Donations to any charity.

BURGOYNE, Harry Edward "Pete" - 81, Middleton, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Springfield, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late Fred and Sadie (Arenburg) Burgoyne. Early in his life, Pete worked in the woods and later was employed with Thompson's Transfer for over 35 years. Pete enjoyed the outdoors, particularly spending time in the garden, going camping, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He is survived by his wife, the former Eunice Notarangelo; sisters, Marie Boehner, Bridgewater; Hazel (Doug) Lowe, Falkland Ridge; Marion (Irving) Burgoyne, Springfield, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Elsie and Pearl; brother, Harold. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today, Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Mrs. George Mailman 1937 Bridgewater Bulletin
Died May 21, 1937
The community of Hemford was again saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Hannah Atkins, wife of George Mailman of this place, which took place at the D.M. Hospital, Bridgewater, on May 21 st. She was the daughter of the late John and Eliza Smith of Nineveh, and was 65 years of age.
Mrs. Mailman was one of Hemford's most beloved and respected citizens, her kindly disposition and gracious hospitality being well-known throughtout the entire community and she will be greatly missed by all.
She leaves to mourn their loss: four step-children, Mrs. Randall Mosher, New Germany; Mrs. Loran Mailman, Hemford; Arnold Mailman, Hemford; and Hilton, U.S.A.; a sister, Mary, wife of the late Ephraim Veinot, Hemford; and five brothers, Joseph and Lewis, Nineveh; Henry and John, Maine; and Alvin, North Brookfield.
The funeral which took place on May 23rd, was very largely attended; the church being crowded to the doors, testifying to the high esteem to which the deceased was held. The services were conducted by Rev. C.MacRae, with interment at the Hemford Cemetery.

A.C. Kerry Veinot
New Germany A.C. Kerry Veinot aged 73, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 1987 at home. Born in New Germany, son of the late Albert and Cevilla (Langille) Veinot. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Parnell; two daughters, Jane and Annette, both at home. He was predeceased by three sisters, Marie, Blanche, May and one brother Roy. Funeral service was held from the Anglican Church, New Germany, Interment was at the Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Les Robertson with Rev. Weaver Assisting. Pallbearers were Nelson Veinot, George Feindel, Everette Barry, Paul Barry, Ivan Mosher, Keith Trimper, Carl Mosher. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, member of the IOOF, Arts & Crafts, on the board of Rosedale Nursing home, president of the Senior Citizen Club.

Leon Burton Veinot
Upper Northfield - The community of Upper Northfield was saddened on Saturday, March 28, 1992, when word was received that Leon Burton Veinot had gone to his eternal rest at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, at the age of 83 years. Although in failing health for several years, he was tenderly cared for by his wife Genevieve, daughter-in-law Donna, and other family members. The highlight of his day was a visit from a neighbor, relative or friend. Born in Upper Northfield, he was the son of the late Leander and Laura (MacKay) Veinot. He lived his entire life in Upper Northfield, working many years as a cooper in the Annapolis Valley, and later with the Mersey Paper Company. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, and attended regularly as long as health permitted. He leaves to mourn his wife Genevieve (Ernst); two daughtes, Joyce (Mrs. Calvin Rafuse), and Inez (Mrs. Boyd Hebb), both of Upper Northfield; two sons, William (Billy) at home, and Basil of Upper Northfield; also four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Alma and Mary. The body rested at the New Germany Funeral Home. Funeral service was held on Tuesday afternoon, March 31, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. from Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Upper Northfield, with the Rev. William Gustafson and Rev. Peter Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers were friends and relatives of the deceased - Lincoln Lohnes, Ross Veinot, Ralph Veinot, Dale MacKay, Roland Oickle and Karl MacKay.

Leila B. Kelly, 63, Hebb's Cross, passed away June 1, 1995, in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax.
Born in Hebb's Cross, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Emma (Crouse) Zwicker.
She was an accountant, and worked in various jobs in California and Nova Scotia.
She is survived by brothers, Byron, Bridgewater; Edson, Powell River, British Columbia; nephews, Derek Zwicker, New Brunswick; Martin Zwicker, Toronto; David Zwicker, California; nieces, Peggy Ann Ochaa and Pamela Wilhelm, California.
She was predeceased by husband, Hector; brother, Ellison, in infancy.
Cremation took place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral home, Bridgewater. Memorial service was held at St. James Anglican Church, Conquerall Mills, June 5, 1995, conducted by Rev. John Clarke; organist, Mrs. Pauline Himmelman.

VEINOT, Mabel Blanche - 95, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, formerly of North Gower, Ont., died Friday, November 1, 1996, in the home. Born in Newburn, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late James and Nettie (Feindel) Ernst. Surviving are her son, Glenwood, Aylesford, Kings Co.; granddaughters, Erica (Mrs. David Watters), Carol Martin, both of Ontario; sister, Mrs. Mildred Whynot, New Germany. She was predeceased by her husband, Naaman David Veinot; sisters, Alicia, Flora; brothers, Jamie, Lemuel, Albert, Laurie, Clayton, Edward. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date in North Gower, Ont. Donations in memory may be made to Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Arrangements entrusted to W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville.

LANGILLE, Evan Robert - 91, Halifax, with his "Hon" by his side, passed away December 25, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Blockhouse, August 31, 1913, Evan was a son of the late Robert and Charlotte (Ernst) Langille. He was a veteran of the Second World War and retired from CFB Stadacona in 1978 as a stationery engineer. Evan and Louise (Munroe) were married May 4, 1940 - a romance that endured over 64 years. He is also survived by son, Paul (Catherine), Molega Lake; daughters, Irene (Kenneth) Sampson, Kingston, Ont.; Nancy (Terry) Scott, Cambridge, Ont.; grandchildren, Shawn (Shelley) Sampson, Louise (nee Scott) (Paolo) Cremasco, Laura Sampson and Karen (Nick) Scott-Cone, all of Ontario; stepgranddaughter, Amber Langille, Hubbards; great-grandsons, Alexander and Zachary Sampson, Scott Cremasco; sister, Doris Emberly, Dayspring; half-sister, Florence (Charles) Bent; half-brother, Carl (Susan), Bridgetown. He was predeceased by sisters, Edna Rhodenizer, Marguerite Knickle, Amy Joyce, Audrey Conrad; brothers, Roger, Edwin, Ernest and Donald. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 29, at 2 p.m. in Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 2098 Windsor St., Halifax, Rev. Kimber MacNabb officiating. A reception will follow. Interment will be in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Windsor St., Halifax. Family flowers only. Donations in Evan's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Special thanks to the nurses of 6th floor, New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, for their tender care of Evan and Louise.

NAUGLER, Lorena Mae - 85, Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg, formerly of Whynotts Settlement, died March 4, 1996, in the home. Born in 1910 in Lower Northfield, she was a daughter of the late Timothy and Charlotte (Conn) Oickle. Surviving are sons, Robert, Ronald, Charles, Whynotts Settlement; daughters, Gladys (Mrs. Bernard MacDonald), Whynotts Settlement; Helen (Mrs. Ronald Haines), Prince George, B.C.; Linda (Mrs. Keith Eisnor), Bridgewater; brother, Harold, New Ross; twin sisters, Beatrice Mailman, Toronto; Bertha Zwicker, Three Mile Plains; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Oran; son, Glenwood; daughter, Phyllis; brothers, Clayton, Gordon; sisters, Muriel, Alma, Bernice, Evelyn. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Private family graveside committal service to be held at a later date in Whynotts Settlement Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations to any charity.

BARTEAUX, Haldane Jerome - 76, Torbrook Mines, died January 5, 1997, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born at Torbrook Mines, he was a son of Mrs. Nellie (Crouse) Barteaux and the late Kenneth Barteaux. He was a veteran of the Second World War; a retired employee of CFB Greenwood and a truck driver. Surviving are his wife, the former Kathleen Acker; daughter, Kaye (Mrs. Albert Dowling), Ward Road; son, Kevin, Kingston; sisters, Helen Hatt, Ward Road; Donna Strong, Niagara Falls, Ont.; brother, Kenneth Jr., Welland, Ont.; seven grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by brother, Robie. Funeral 2 p.m. today, January 8, in Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton, Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. Burial in Torbrook Mines United Church Cemetery. Donations to Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia branch.

POLZIN, Hazel Louise - 83, Windsor, formerly of Lakelands, Hants County, died August 14, 1994, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Newburne, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Allister and Cora (DeMone) Joudrey. She is survived by her husband, Lurie Leonard, Lakelands; stepdaughter, Marion, Vancouver, B.C.; three stepsons, Arnold, Burton, Raymond, all of Ontario; three sisters, Vera (Mrs. Carl Knock), Lower Rose Bay, Lunenburg County; Jean (Mrs. Edison Tanner), Ethelyn (Mrs. Josiah Zinck), both of Lunenburg. She was predeceased by a stepson, Carl; five sisters, Florence Conrad, Marguerite Zinck, Margaret Tanner, Minnie Zinck, Mary Zinck; five brothers, Percy, William, Thomas, Laurie, Guy. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Duanne Tanswell officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Estates, Lower Sackville. Donations may be made to any charity.

SCHOFIELD, Gerald LeRoy - 63, of Kingston, died suddenly on January 25, 2001, at QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Sheldon Schofield and Beatrice (Veinot) Algee. He was a graduate of Normal College, furthered his studies at Acadia University and Nova Scotia Teacher's College. He taught in Wolfville, West Kings and Kingston schools for 34 years. He was a member and deacon of Kingston United Baptist Church; taught Sunday school; served on the Board of Trustees, Christian Education Committee, Board of Management, choir member, pulpit committee, feasibility study task force and involved in Atlantic Baptist Convention and local committees. He taught science, math and health to Grades 6-9. He sang in a number of groups over the years and as a professional soloist at special church functions, weddings, funerals and gatherings. He was active in Retired Teachers' Association and was on the provincial executive. He was a master driver education instructor and taught instructors in Amherst and students at West Kings. He taught Forest Ecology for a number of summers at Nova Scotia Teacher's College, Truro. He had a variety of interests including gardening and the past president of Valley Gardener Society, curling, and the past president of Senior Curlers, Berwick, photography, jogging, softball, travelling by car, his love of the New York Yankees. He was an amateur meteorologist and enjoyed writing historical articles. He was a very empathetic person, offering care and compassion. Gerry and Ruth became legal guardians to his younger brothers, Gary and Boyd. He is survived by his wife and best friend, the former Ruth Armstrong; special friend, Teddie McClive; brothers, Gary (Phyllis) Algee and Boyd (Janet) Algee, both of Moncton; sisters, Shirley (Lowell) Hiltz, Newton, Mass.; Shirley Ann (Doug) Schofield, Saint John, N.B.; number of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by stepfather, Alden Algee and stepmother, Marion Schofield. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton. Funeral service 2:30 p.m. Monday at Kingston United Baptist Church, Rev. Donald Robertson officiating. Burial in North Kingston Cemetery, Kingston at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations to Historical Gardens, Annapolis Royal, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Kingston United Baptist Church.

ROWTER, Brian Edgar - 55, Kempt, Queens Co., died January 17, 1998, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. He was a son of Freda (Lewis) Rowter and the late William Rowter. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Maitland Bridge and a former member of North Queen's Ground Search and Rescue. Surviving are his wife, the former Pauline Mary Veinot; sons, Trevor and Sherrie, Lower Branch; Derek and Margaret, Halifax; brothers, Clarke and Marlene, Melvern Square; Bruce and Sandra, Kempt; sisters, Jeanette and Robert Rawding, North-field, Queens Co.; Claire and Harley White, Kempt; numerous nieces and nephews. The remains have been donated to Dalhousie Medical School. A private memorial service, for family and relatives only, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's United Church, Maitland Bridge, Rev. Betsy Hogan officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Lodge that Gives. Arrangements entrusted to R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville.
