LANGILLE, Idella Irene - 85, of Blockhouse, died Monday, March 26, 2001, in Harbour View Haven, Lunenburg. Born in Parkdale, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Letitia (Veinotte) Spidle. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the United Baptist Church, Mahone Bay, where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid, serving as president for 30 years. She was a member of the Women's Institute, Blockhouse and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Blockhouse Fire Department for many years. She belonged to TOPS for 26 years. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ivan; daughter, Yvonne and husband Wallace Wilkie, Blockhouse; son, Darren and wife Brenda, Blockhouse; foster daughter, Mae and husband Garth Brown, Dartmouth; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by infant son, Douglas; two sisters, Emma and Annie; brothers, Lawrence, Robert, Russel, Charles, Kenneth and Howard. Visiting will be 7-9 p.m. this evening in Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in United Baptist Church, Mahone Bay, Pastor Aaron Kenny officiating. Burial will follow in Old Blockhouse, Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the United Baptist Church, Mahone Bay or Garden of Rest Cemetery Fund, Blockhouse, through Mahone Funeral Home.

Florence Kathleen Conrad, 76, First South, Lunenburg County, died Saturday, February 9, 1991, at Extendicare Nursing Home, Armview. Born in Newburne, she was a daughter of the late Allister and Cora (Demone) Joudrey. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, First South, and the Church E.L.W. She is survived by her husband, Robert, Lunenburg; four daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Rees; Brenda (Mrs. Earl Bachman), both of Lunenburg; Mrs. Mona Levy, Garden Lots; Nancy (Mrs. Eric Himmelman), Centre; four sisters, Jean (Mrs. Edson Tanner), Lunenburg; Vera (Mrs.Carl Knock), Mrs. Ethelyn Zinck, both of Lower Rose Bay; Mrs. Hazel Polzin, Halifax; a brother, Guy Joudrey, Sudbury, Ontario; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Lloyd; an infant son; four sisters, Mary, Maggie, Marguerite, Minnie; four brothers, Tommie, Percy, Laurie, William. The body is in Dana L.Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Grace Lutheran Church, First South, Rev. James Slack officiating. Burial will be in First South Cemetery. Donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or any charity.

LANGILLE, Carl Harold - 62, Centrelea, Annapolis Co., passed away May 22, 2008, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Robert and Margaret (Piggott) Langille. Carl worked for Michelin Tire for over 30 years. Although he was a late starter, he was an avid golfer. He enjoyed playing crib, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed working on computers. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Taylor); sons, Matthew and Darren, both at home; Michael (Tammy), Bridgetown; grandchildren, Robyn and Devin; sister, Florence "Flossie" (Charles) Bent, Beaconsfield; half-sister, Doris Emberly, Bridgewater; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, George; half-brothers, Roger, Ernest, Edwin, Donald, and Evan; half-sisters, Marguerite Knickle, Edna Rhodenizer, Amy Joyce, and Audrey Conrad. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bridgetown Baptist Church with Rev. George Neily officiating. Interment will be in Centrelea Cemetery. Donations in memory may be sent to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.

Herbert Albert Veinot
Farmington - Herbert Albert Veinot, 59, of Farmington, Lunenburg County, died Saturday in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in New Germany, he was the son of Albert and the late Blanche (Veinot) Veinot of Farmington. He is survived by two sisters, Hyacinth (Mrs. Robert Taylor), Farmington, and Pauline (Mrs. Brian Rowter), Kempt, Queens County. The body is in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, where funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Leslie Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Epworth United Church Cemetery, New Germany. Memorial donations may be made to Dawson Memorial Hospital Foundation or St. John's in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany.

Joseph Charles Arenburg, 71, of 204 Portland Street, Dartmouth, died Monday in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in North River, Kings County, he was a son of the late George and Myria (Vienot) Arenburg. Surviving are his wife, the former Grace McCulloch; one daughter Gail (Mrs. John Gray), Dartmouth; two sons, Laurie, Vancouver, B C, Vernon, Dartmouth; two sisters, Sarah (Mrs. Henry Buckler), and Mrs. Jennie Delong, both of Kentville; three brothers, Frank and William, both of Kentville, Harry, Berwick; and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Ethel and Lina; one son Gordon; three sisters, Nellie, Mabel and Susan; and two brothers, Matthew and Sidney. The body is at Withrow MacMillan Funeral Home, Upper Nine Mile River. Funeral service will be held tomorrow at 2 pm in St. James Presbyterian Church, Noel Road, Rev. Owen Channon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart Foundation.

VACON, Annie Elizabeth - 85, Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay, died August 11, 1994, in the home. Born in Maplewood, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Letitia (Veinotte) Spidle. She was a member of Mahone Bay United Baptist Church, where she also served with the ladies aid. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; three daughters, Pearl (Mrs. Lindsay Zwicker), Western Shore; Norine (Mrs. David Beck), Lunenburg; Vaunda Vacon, Halifax; sister, Idella (Mrs. Ivan Langille), Blockhouse; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Emma; six brothers, Lawrence, Robert, Russell, Charles, Kenneth, Howard. Visitation will be 2-4, 79 p.m. today in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Mahone Bay United Baptist Church, Rev. Fred Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay. Donations may be made to Mahone Nursing Home or Mahone Bay United Baptist Church.

Mrs. James Emino
The death occurred of Mrs. James Emino at her home at Simpson's Corner on March 24th, after an illness of several months. A sad feature of her death is that it occurred only two weeks after the death of her husband, James Emino.
Mrs.Emino was, before her marriage, Miss Amanda Oickle of Upper Branch and was 71 years of age. Surviving are five daughters, Doris (Mrs. Herbert Atchue), of North Grafton, Mass.; Claudia (Mrs. Norman H. Langille), Alda (Mrs. Arleigh Varner); Violet, widow of Arthur Varner, of New Germany; Mabel (Mrs. Dennis Nauss), who resides on the homestead, Simpson's Corner; four sons, George of North Grafton, Mass.; Everette, U.S.A.; Robert and Charles, Simpson's Corner. A son, Garfield and daughter, Mildred, predeceased her several years ago. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. C. Monk of the Lutheran parish, at the church, Simpson's Corner; burial being at the Hemford Cemetery on Monday. The pall bearers wereStanley Hyson, Garfield Conrad, Carl Russell, and Lester Hyson. The bereaved family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.

LEADLEY, Thelma Lenora - 83, Berwick, died March 25, 1994, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Theresa (Corkum) Leadley. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Garnet, Leonard, Harold; sister, Ida Jones. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to Grand View Manor, Berwick.

Mrs. Oran Woodworth
New Germany- Funeral service for Mrs. Oran (Hazel K.)Woodworth, 56, was Saturday at St. John's Anglican Church in New Germany with Rev. James Purchase officiating. Interment was in Anglican cemetery. She died Thursday in New Germany. Born in Lake Pleasant, Annapolis County, Mrs. Woodworth was a daughter of the late Hanley and Evelyn ( Acker) Mailman. Widow of Oran Woodworth, she resided the past 30 years in New Germany. Surviving are three daughters, Clara (Mrs. Cecil Walker), Ottawa; Marilyn (Mrs.Arol Wentzell), New Germany; Cheryl, Bedford; one son Ronald, New Market, Ontario; two half-sisters, Pauline ( Mrs. Andrew Porter), Margaretsville, Marion ( Mrs. Walter DeVeau), Falkland Ridge.

BEZANSON, Murray Robert — 69, Berwick, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Born in New Ross, he was a son of the late Otis and Bertha Veinot. Survived by his loving wife, Linda (Conrad) Bezanson; children, Suzanne (Rod) McMahon, Kentville; Robert (Cindy), Whitby; David (Krista), Halifax; Allan (Jennifer), Coldbrook; grandchildren, Katelyn, Zachary, Oliver, Irelande, Matthew, Megan, Thomas, Anna and Luke; sister, Rita (Eugene) Creaser, Lunenburg. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Ivan and Clayton Bezanson. Murray started his career in sales with Olivetti Office Equipment and later joined Pitney Bowes, which took him and his family to St. John’s, N.L., Hampton, N.B. and Lower Sackville. After leaving Pitney Bowes, he moved to Berwick and started a family business B & B Paper Plus, which his family continues to run today. Murray was an active member in every community that he lived in. He was a founding member of Jaycees in Hampton, N.B., member of the Hampton Curling Club, former president and member of the Berwick Curling Club, former member of the Kentville Rotary Club, former member of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee for the Valley Credit Union, member of the Board of Directors for Annapolis Valley Housing Authority and former Berwick Town Councilor. Murray, also known as grampa and gramps, adored his family, in particular his grandchildren and cherished their time together. He had a great zest for life, a generous nature and positive outlook on life that will be forever missed. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 30, in Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook (Exit 14). The fu­neral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, in Berwick United Church, Rev. LindaWinton officiating. A reception to follow in the church. At a later date, Murray’s ashes will be scattered over the shore on Second Peninsula, where he spent much mem­orable time with family and friends at the cottage and on his boat. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

GATES, Madeline Mildred - 96, Aylesford Road, Kings Co., died January 18, 1998, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Millville, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Amos and Lillie (Robinson) Keddy. She was a member of Morristown United Baptist Church and a member of Millville 60 Plus Club. Surviving are sons, Donald, Aylesford; Max, Kingston; daughters, Mildred Morse, Berwick; Jean (Mrs. John McNeil), Millville; Marjorie (Mrs. Howard Bower), Hall Road; brother, Harvey, Millville; sisters, Stella Veinotte, Aylesford; Beatrice Cleaver, Stoney Creek, Ont.; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Lorimer Gates; sons, Russell, Boyd; brothers, Norman, Kenneth; sister, Thelma Keddy; granddaughter, Jeanne Keddy. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday, both in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick, Rev. Margo MacDougall officiating. Burial in Aylesford Union Cemetery. Donations to Morristown United Baptist Church or any charity.

WENTZELL, Wayne Blair - 32, lifelong resident of New Germany, died April 10, 1997, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Bridgewater and raised in New Germany, he was a son of Arol and Marilyn (Woodworth) Wentzell. He worked as a flagman with the Department of Highways; as an ambulance attendant for New Germany Ambulance, and as an auto body mechanic with his father at Wentzell's Auto Body. He was owner and operator of W.B. Wentzell Carpentry and, with his father, owned and operated New Germany Recycling. Surviving are his wife, the former Jeanette (Jan) Fraser; son, Randy, at home; sister, Karen, New Germany; brothers, Brian, Jordan, New Germany; Michael, Simpsons Corner; Neil, Wolfville; foster brothers, Jeff Feener, Dustin Rioux, Shawn Lamey, New Germany; foster sisters, Susan Butt, Halifax; Sherry Whynott, Northfield; Margaret Crouse, Crousetown; many more foster brothers and foster sisters; grandparents, Gordon and Hazel (Beck) Wentzell, Newburne; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandparents, Oren and Hazel (Mailman) Woodworth. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Langille's Funeral Home, 5267 Hwy 10, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, Rev. Peter Armstrong and Rev. Karl Urstrum officiating. Cremation to take place. Donations to Cystic Fibrosis, Nova Scotia Chapter, or IWK-Grace Health Centre.

Everett John Walker
The death of Everett John Walker occurred at the home of his sister, Mrs. Arthur Leopold, Saturday, April 5, following a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Walker, New Ross, and was 83 years of age.
His wife, the former Abbie Stephens, predeceased him by 34 years.
Survivng are three foster children George, New Ross; Lewis, New Brunswick; Blanche (Mrs.Robie Demone), Western Shore; three brothers, William and Edmund, New Ross; Dennis, Chester Grant; and two sisters, Edith (Mrs. Arthur Leopold), New Ross; who cared for him; and Jane (Mrs. B. Russell), U.S.A. A brother, Howard, predeceased him by three weeks.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fr. Stone on Monday morning at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, New Ross, with interment in the R.C. Cemetery.
