CONRAD, Audrey Catherine - 84, West LaHave, passed away March 19, 2000, in the Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born in Blockhouse, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Charlotte (Ernst) Langille. She is survived by daughters-in-law, Agnes Conrad, Hubbards; Marilyn Conrad, Lincoln, N.B.; grandchildren, Barry Conrad, Betty Ervin, Byron Conrad, Crystal Keddy, Cynthia Conrad; six great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Emberly, Dayspring; brother, Evan Langille, Halifax; half-sister, Florence Bent; half-brother, Carl Langille, both of Annapolis Valley. She was predeceased by her husband, Amiel L.; sons, Carroll, Gerald; sisters, Edna Rhodenhiser, Amy Joyce, Marguerite Knickle; brothers, Ernest Langille, Edwin Langille, Roger Langille, Donald Langille. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in Redeemer Lutheran Church, Conquerall Bank, Rev. William Gustafson officiating. Interment to follow in Pleasantville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Conquerall Bank.

Edwin Langille
The whole community mourned the passing of Edwin Langille, whose funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, October 7th. After a short service at the house, the cortege moved to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, of which the deceased was a member. The service was conduced by his pastor, the Rev. C.H. Whitteker, assisted by the Rev. Douglas A.Conrad of the Conquerall Parish.
The deceased was a member of the 1st. Battalion Lunenburg Regiment, the officers and men of which marched in the funeral procession. Lt. Col. G.W. Bullock and Batt. Sergeant-Major Connolly were the officers in charge.
The late Mr. Langille's comrades acted as pall-bearers and members of the firing squad. At the grave, the Last Post was sounded.
The deceased was also a member of the Bridgewater Band, and they, too, took a part in the last rites of their fellow member.
Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Langille, he is survived by five sisters and three brothers. They are: (Amy) Mrs. William Conrad, Halifax; Ernest, Mader's Cove; Evan, at sea; Edna, Audrey, Marguerite, Doris, and Donald, at home.

ISNOR, Innes Drew - 80, Kingston, passed away Friday, March 17, 2006, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Newburne, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Ernest and Mary (Oickle) Eisenhauer. Innes was a member of the Lutheran Church, Newburne, and the last surviving member of his immediate family. His last years of employment were spent with the C.E. Section at 14 Wing, Greenwood. He had a great love for ponies and was a member of the W.N.S.D.P.A. for over 30 years. For many years he owned and showed his draft ponies throughout the Valley at various exhibitions and was also a member of the Annapolis Valley Exhibition Committee. He was a past member of the Kingston Lions Club and was one of the many volunteers associated with the Kingston Steer Barbeque as well as the Port George Jamboree. He received a great deal of enjoyment from attending the jam sessions at Port George Community Hall. Surviving besides his wife, the former Bernice Craig-Morse, are daughter, Joyce (Reg) Huntley, East Kingston; sons, Roger (Mary Lee), Torbrook Mines, and Drew (Gwen), Port Wade; stepchildren, Brian (Cathy) Morse, Warren (Sylvia) Morse, Howard Morse, all of Kingston; Kim (Jennifer) Morse, Carlsbad Springs, Ont.; Zane (Judy) Morse, Margaretsville, and Stacey Morse, Banff, Alta.; grandchildren, Trevor (Theresa) Eisnor, Amherst; Paul (Irene) Eisnor, Sackville; Melissa (Brad) White, Nictaux; Jennifer (Andrew) Carter, Cambridge; Thomas Huntley, East Kingston; Troy (Darlene) Eisnor, Torbrook Mines, and Shelley (Greg) Durling, Margaretsville; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Margaret Penny; sister, Phyllis Corkum, and brothers, Herman, Garnet, Moyle, Floyd and Alden. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 24, in Middleton Funeral Home (902) 825-3448. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, in Kingston United Baptist Church, Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Private interment will be held in Aylesford Union Cemetery. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Aylesford Union Cemetery, Victorian Order of Nurses or a charity of your choice.

ZWICKER, Bertha Ruby - 80, Windsor, Hants Co., passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 24, 2008, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born February 7, 1928, in Lower Northfield, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Timothy and Charlotte (Corn) Oickle. Bertha was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Windsor. She was an avid card player and bowler and a former school bus driver for 22 years at McCluskey Transportation Services in Toronto. Bertha is survived by sons, Andrew (Sandra) Robinson, Toronto; Gary (Marilyn) Wentzell, Bridgewater; daughter, Marcia (Darwin) Ewart, Toronto; grandchildren, Anna and Sarah Wentzell; sister, Beatrice (Walter) Mailman, Toronto. She was predeceased by her first husband, Wilfred J. Robinson and companion, Chester Wentzell; brothers, Gordon, Clayton and Harold; sisters, Evelyn Oickle, Alma Slaunwhite, Lorena Naugler, Bernice Nauss, and Muriel Sarty. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation as per Bertha's wishes. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 27, in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King St., Windsor, Major Ross Grandy officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bertha may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 5826 South St., Halifax, NS B3H 1S6, or any Salvation Army.

WHYNOT, Frank St. Clair — 59, of Mount Hanley, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, he was a son of Lillian (Tiller) Whynot, Nictaux and the late Charles Whynot. Frank had been previously employed as a butcher with O. H. Armstrong Ltd., Kingston and Larsen Packers Ltd., Berwick. He was a farmer and all his farming was done with his horses. He enjoyed participating in horse pulls and going to various exhibitions to watch the horse pulls. He is survived by his mother, Lillian Whynot, Nictaux; his wife of 19 years, the former Dale Stoddart, Mount Hanley; daughter, Jennifer Whynot, Nictaux; sons, Randy Whynot, Shyloe, Manitoba; Corey Whynot (Sarah Kwakernaak), Middleton and Jamie Whynot (Sheena Inkster), Mount Hanley; sister, Nadine (Ricky) Balcom, Wilmot; brother, Kenneth (Geraldine) Whynot, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Owen, Melanie, Chloe "Pumpkin", Cody, Shyanne. He will also be sadly missed by his dogs, "Bear" and "Sassy". He was predeceased by his father, Charles Whynot and sister, Jean Tattersall. By Frank's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, in Mount Hanley Baptist Church, Rev. Leon Langille officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or Mount Hanley Baptist Church.

VEINOT, Mary "Patricia" - 83, Meisner's Section, died November 19, 2003, in Grandview Manor, Berwick. Born in Liverpool, Queens Co., she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Cecilia (Thomas) Mansfield. Patricia was a musician, she played the guitar, piano and her group was fondly known as "The Famous Family". Surviving are son, Angus Meisner, Ontario; sisters, Jean Huphman, Mount Uniacke; Phyllis (Hillary Jr.) Little, Kingswood, Halifax Co.; several grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, Howard; daughter, Mary Comeau; brothers, Joe, Leslie, Douglas. Visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Reception to follow in the funeral home.

LANGILLE, Lomer Thomas Arthur - 77, Fauxburg, Lunenburg Co., died October 28, 1998, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Fauxburg, he was a son of the late Arthur Harold and Ida Marie (Veinot) Langille. He worked for many years with Irving Oil Co. Ltd. as a truck driver and later with Bailly's Fuels Ltd., Lunenburg, retiring in 1986. Surviving are his wife, the former Frances Lorraine Barteaux; son, Kerry, Calgary; foster sons, David, Lunenburg; Morton, at home; sisters, Jean (Mrs. Hugh Knickle), Fauxburg; Pauline (Mrs. Lloyd Lillis), Second Peninsula; brothers, Alfred, Bridgewater; Harold, Lunenburg. He was predeceased by brother, Earl. Graveside committal service 1 p.m. Saturday in Northwest Cemetery, Northwest, Rev. Robyn Brown-Hewitt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to any charity. Arrangements entrusted to Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg.

OICLE, Johnson Raymond - 86, Sheet Harbour, Halifax County, died August 24, 1992, in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Born in Mosers River, Halifax County, he was a son of the late Edghil and Maude (Sponigle) Oicle. A 44 year employee of Scott Paper Company, retiring in 1972, he worked as a mechanic and trained Scott employee's in Port Hawkesbury in pipe fitting. He was a barber and shoe repairman for many years. He is survived by his wife, the former Hazel Kenney; two daughters, Gail Cameron, Sheet Harbour; Durece (Mrs. Edison Langille), New Glasgow; four sons, Glen, Lower Sackville; Garry, Mosers River; Calder, Dartmouth; Ellery, Timberlea; stepbrother, Richard, Port Hillford, Guysborough County; two sisters, Edna, Lena; two half-sisters, Amy, Barbara; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a twin daughter in infancy; five brothers, Lester, Lawrence, Wallice, Elvin, Eldred; two half-brothers, Roland, Vincent; sister, Gertrude; half-sister, Grace; stepmother, Matilda (Tilly). The body is in Crowell's Funeral Home, Sheet Harbour, visiting 24, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Watt Section, Halifax County, Rev. Dawn Davis and Rev. Russell Harding officiating. Burial will be in parish cemetery. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

VEINOT, Maxwell Samuel - 80, New Ross, passed away July 18, 1998, at home. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Wesley and Ruby (Creemer) Veinot. He served in the Canadian Army from 1940-45, serving in the 10th Search Light Battery Regiment. He operated a general store and worked in trucking and construction most of his life until his retirement in 1983. He was a former member of New Ross Fire Department and was one of the original founders. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 79, New Ross. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Gates); sons, Glenn and wife Anne, Chester; Derrick and wife Florence, Edmonton; Bruce and wife Gail, North Alton; Ian and wife Jo, New Ross; Dana and wife Coleen, New Ross; daughters, Joyce and husband Murray Gates, Bridgewater; Holly and husband Robbie Turner, New Ross; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Paul and Vaughan; sister, Joyce. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, New Ross. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in New Ross Baptist Church, Rev. Michael Lipe officiating, assisted by Rev. Gordon Neish. Interment in New Ross Baptist Cemetery. Donations may be made to New Ross Fire Department, New Ross Baptist Church or a charity of choice.

Veinott, Laura
Kentville, N.S. - Mrs. Laura Veinott, 88, of Kentville passed away at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville, Sunday, April 23, 1972. Born in Aaldersville, she was a daughter of the late John and Serena (Bezanson) Aalders. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for the late Mrs. Veinott was held on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. from St. James Anglican Church, Aaldersville. Rev. C.J. Pretty officiated with interment in the Aaldersville Cemetery. The late Mrs. Veinott rested at the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Kentville.

Arthur C. Barry, 77, Barrys Corner, Maitland, Lunenburg County, died June 28, 1994, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Cobalt, Ontario, he was a son of the late Charles and Minnie (Meisner) Barry. He was a retired mill owner, woodsman, and farmer. He was a member of Christ Church, Maitland. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Veinotte; four daughters, Joan (Mrs. Harold Slaunwhite), Linda (Mrs. Raoul Wile), Faye (Mrs. Dale Croft), all of Maitland; Carol Ann (Mrs. Dale Oickle), Lower Northfield; three sons, Peter, Paul, and Roger, all of Maitland; three sisters, Stella, Berwick; Jean (Mrs. Laurel Burgoyne), Mahone Bay; Doris, Montreal; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Hugh, Edward, Albert. Visitation will be 2-4, 7- p.m. today in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in Christ Church, Maitland, Rev. William Dye officiating. Burial will be in Christ Church Cemetery. Donations may be made to Christ Church Memorial Fund, Christ Church Cemetery, or any charity.

MURPHY, Harold Leslie - 74, Aylesford, Kings County, died December 3, 1993, at home. Born in Aylesford, he was a son of the late Charles and Emma (Steadman) Murphy. He served his country overseas during the Second World War, where he was wounded in Holland. He returned home in 1945. He was the recipient of the Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal, 1939-45. He was employed for 30 years with the Department of National Defense at CFB Greenwood, retiring in 1984. He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Lutz; three sons, Wayne, Aylesford Mountain; Harold Jr., Red Deer, Alta.; Kirk, Kentville; three daughters, Nanette (Mrs. John Keddy), Burlington, Ont.; Patricia Blenus, Kingston; Pamela (Mrs. Paul Morton), Welsford; four brothers, Reginald, Berwick; Ervin, Allison, both of Halifax; Clayton, Centreville; four sisters, Dorothy McKay, Gladys (Mrs. Raymond Hiscoe), Elsie Wagstaff, all of Aylesford; Audrey Murphy, Auburn; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild. He was predeceased by two brothers, James, Charles; two sisters, Edna Whynott, Mary Hiltz. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick, where a legion service will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday and where funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Berwick Cemetery. PENNY, Myrna Loretta - 67, Wilmot, passed away April 11, 2006, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Inglisville, she was a daughter of the late Lindsay and Elizabeth (Burns) Stoddard. She was a former member of Branch No. 1 Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, Middleton. Myrna enjoyed the outdoors and, in particular, berry season in the valley.
