Born in Lower Northfield, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Bessie (Wagner) Oickle. Surviving are her husband, Bert; daughters, Erna (Mrs. Wilfred Joudrey), Patricia (Mrs. Cyril Mayo), West Northfield; son, Arthur, Auburndale; sisters, Hazel Daniels, North River; Leda (Mrs. Sydney Osborne), Oakhill; Florence Veinot, West Northfield; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sister, Elsie; brothers, Wallace, Oswald, a brother in infancy; a daughter in infancy. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Norman E. Veinot - 82, of Baker Settlement passed away January 7, 2006 peacefully with his family by his side at the South Shore Regional Hospital. Born July 31, 1923, in Baker Settlement, he was the son of the late Sylvanus and wife Latitia (Getson) Veinot.
He is survived by his wife, the former Vivian (Wentzell) Veinot; sons John (Mary) and Andy (MaryAnn), all of Baker Settlement; grandchildren Jason, Melissa (Missy), Megan, Alex, all of Baker Settlement; sisters Norma Zinck, Beryle (Dawson Wile) of Wileville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by mother Letitia, father Sylvanus and sister Beatrice Fancy (Dana). The funeral service was held 11 a.m. at Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater, by Pastor William Gustafson assisted by Rev. Ivan Norton. Hymns sung were "Amazing Grace" by Debbie Wentzell, long-time friend, and the congregation "The Old Rugged Cross." Followed by a private burial service at Baker
Settlement Cemetery.

David C. Acker
The death of David Acker 83, occurred in Lake Pleasant, Dec 27, 1940, after an illness of several months. Mr. Acker is survived by his widow, two daughters. Mrs. Thomas Butler of Forest Home and Mrs. L Comeau of Saulnierville; Three sons, Ernest of Brooklyn, Ralph, England and Leander at home. There is also one sister, Mrs. Benjamin Corkum of Lunenburg.

Bert Maxwell Dauphinee - 87, of West Northfield, passed away November 22, 2001 in the Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Born in Lower Northfield, he was the son of the late Arkanas and Maude (Eichel) Dauphinee. He owned and operated the Turkey Burger in Cookville for over 25 years. He received his 50year jewel from St. Mark’s Lodge in Halifax. He was a member of Acacia Lodge #39, Antiquity Perceptory Lodge and the South Shore Shrine Club. He is survived by daughters, Erna (Wilfred) Joudrey, West Northfield; Patricia, (Cyril) Mayo, West Northfield; a son Arthur (Jayne), Auburndale; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald, Upper LaHave; Lester, Barss Corner. He was predeceased by his wife, Ivy (Oickle); a daughter in infancy; brothers, Evans, Malcolm, Wallace, Owen, Albert, Harry; sister Carrie. Sarah BUTLER dies at 95 in Kentville - Kentville, Sarah Wilhemia BUTLER, 95, North Alton, died Thursday in Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital. Born in North River, she was a daughter of the late George and Marie (VEINOT) ARENBURG. She was a resident of Annapolis Valley all her life and was a member of St.James Anglican Church, Kentville.
She is survived by six sons, George, Forest Home; Frederick and Donald, both of North Alton; Perry, Granville Ferry; Avard, Kentville; Edgar, Woodville; nine daughters, Gladys WELTON and Hattie (Mrs. Gardner DODGE), both of North Alton; Nellie (Mrs. Robert WARD), Jennie (Mrs. Peter McKINNIE) and Susie (Mrs. John ELLS), all of Toronto; Mamie (Mrs. Chester HUDSON), Granvill e Ferry; Leah (Mrs. Joseph JESS), Wolfville; Hilda (Mrs. Raymond CULLEN), Trenton, Ont.; Sarah (Mrs. Chestley WEIR), White Rock; a sister, Jennie DeLONG, Kentville; 65 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. HILTZ, Reginald Harris - 71, Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay, formerly of Martins River, died January 23, 1999, in the home. Born in Martins River, he was a son of the late Aiden and Erna (Isnor) Hiltz. He was a member of St. Martin's Anglican Church, Martins River. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Canadian Merchant Marine division. He was a former co-owner of Chester Fuels Ltd., Chester. Surviving are his wife, the former Irene F. Whynock, Martins River; sons, Leslie, Wayne, Martins River; sisters, Pauline Cleveland, Martins River; Rita (Mrs. Robert Sears), Woodstock, Ont.; Thelma Porier, Surrey, B.C.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. ACKER, Malcolm Obediah - 76, passed away in Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, QEII, December 10, 1999. He was born in Hunters Lodge, Annapolis Co., and was a son of the late Obediah and Gladys (Sarty) Acker. He was a veteran of the Second World War and had seen action in Italy while serving overseas with the Canadian Army. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the France and Germany Star. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Somme Branch 31, Dartmouth. He was a former member of the Masonic Cornwallis Lodge 95. Malcolm was a life member of the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Dartmouth, where he sang in the choir and worked with devotion for many years. He worked as a service manager at Tanner Chrysler for many years and retired as divisional chief of the mechanical division of Dartmouth Fire Station after 22 years. He is survived by his wife, Muriel (Slaunwhite). He was a kind and loving husband for 46 years. Also surviving are stepson, Gary Newcombe and wife Diane, Halifax; step-grandchildren, Terry, Dartmouth; Tina, Halifax; brother, Lester and wife Marion, Springfield; sister, Agnes (Mrs. Douglas Durling), Dartmouth. Malcolm was predeceased by his brother, Merlin. Visitation will be in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 307 Prince Albert Rd., Dartmouth, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today. HISCOE, Gladys Marguerite - 73, Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2005, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Aylesford, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Stedman) Murphy. Gladys had worked on various farms for most of her life and had been employed at Scotian Gold Ltd., in Aylesford and Coldbrook, and most recently had been employed at Sawler Gardens Ltd., Somerset, before she retired. Surviving are her son, Gary (April McCullough) Hiscoe, Aylesford; grandsons, Brad, Jeff, Zachary and Jamie Hiscoe, all of Aylesford; sister, Elsie Wagstaff, Aylesford; brothers, Ervin and Allison Murphy, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Hiscoe; son, Timothy Hiscoe; sisters, Mary Hiltz, Dorothy McKay, Audrey Murphy, and Edna Whynott; brothers, Charles, Harold, Clarence "Reg", James and Clayton Murphy. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 14, in Aylesford Union Cemetery, Rev. Clyde Lowe officiating. The community was deeply shocked and saddened on Tuesday evening, Jan. 15th., when word was received of the tragic death of Everette Oickle, Lower Northfield, which occurred while loading pulpwood at Riversdale, Colchester County. Born at Lower Northfield 36 years ago, he was the son of the late Simeon and Sarah (Zinck) Oickle. Surviving to mourn their loss are a sorrowing widow, the former Marie Whynot, of Brooklyn; two children, Maxine and Robert; also five brothers and four sisters, Willis, Kempt; Pearlie, Blockhouse; Emory, Prospect; Stanley, Truro; Oran, Lower Northfield; Mrs. Laura Oickle, Annapolis Royal; Mary, Mrs. Ernest Eisnor, Newburn; Princetta, Mrs. Cecil Oickle, Lower Northfield; and Olive, Mrs. Charles Aulenback, Blockhouse. He was a member of the Anglican faith and his funeral was held on Friday afternoon from his late home to the Union Church at West Northfield conducted by the rector, Rev. Martell. Interment was in Maple Grove cemetery.

Born in Aylesford, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Charles and Emma (Steadman) Murphy. ZWICKER, Robert Maxwell -89, Middle Cornwall, passed away December 25, 2008, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Robert, the son of the late Arthur and Albertha (Eisenhauer) Zwicker, was born on his parent's farm on September 20, 1919. He grew up to love the farm and made it his life, with his bride, Grace, on the old homestead. Over the years, besides his family, gardening became his greatest love. He had many large gardens in which he grew all sorts of vegetables. He loved to have people visit and taste his latest creations. He had the greatest smile on his face when they would advise him it was "the best they ever tasted". When the local paper chose Robert for a profile in their seniors insert in 2001, at the age of 81 years old, he sat with pride for a photo, in his garden of broad beans. Robert loved it when people would join him on his veranda to sit and visit for a while. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Grace (Bruhm) Zwicker; sons, Maxwell (Brenda) Zwicker, George (Christine) Zwicker, all of Middle Cornwall; daughters, Evangeline Whynot, Northwest; Madeline (Wayne) Oxner, Lilydale; Pauline (Merlin) Spidle, Lower Cornwall; 13 loving grandchildren; 14 precious great-grandchildren. A son predeceased Robert, in infancy as well as his sister, Gracia; brother-in-law, Frank Dauphinee and son-in-law, Fenwick Whynot. There will be no visiting hours by request.
