Jean Gloria Oickle, 80, formerly of Newcombville, passed away suddenly Friday, March 12, 2004 in Conquerall Bank, where she had been residing for six months prior to her death at her daughter and son-in-law's, Gloria and Murray Snyder.
Funeral service was held at Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Tuesday, March 16, 2004 with Rev. Mark Wagschal officiating. Hymns sung were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Mansion Over the Hilltop" played by organist, Margaret Hutchinson. Eulogy was given by son-in-law, Herbert Sperry. Pallbearers were grandsons: Chris, Craig, Leon, Glen, Tyler and Colin.
Flowers were by family only.
Casket spray - husband, Lawrence; broken circle - children Samuel (Patricia), Gloria (Murray), Gail (Herbert), Terry (Evelyn) and Bernice (Brian); heart - 13 grandchildren; casket ledge of red roses - 18 great-grandchildren; rose-in-hand - granddaughter, Robyn; two red roses - grandson, Troy (Bea); flower basket - sister, Kathryn. Memorials were also made.

VEINOTTE, Clinton Arlee - 75, New Germany, Lunenburg County, died September 4, 1993, in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in Union Square, Lunenburg County, he was a son of the late Bennett and Alice (Ernst) Veinotte. He was a truck driver in his early years before going to work for Bowater-Mersey, working in the woods and later in the mill until retirement in 1976. He was an active builder, versatile repairman, working his woodsplitter and was an avid woodsman. He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church and Rosedale New Horizon's Senior Citizens Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Mavis Arlene Corkum; two daughters, Laverne, New Germany; Linda, Upper Northfield; six grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Jessie, New Germany; Florence, Halifax; three brothers, Stuart, New Germany; Maurice, Halifax; Lawrence, Bridgewater. He was predeceased by three brothers, Carol, Gerald, Murry. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Rev. Peter Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Union Square Cemetery under the direction of Langilles Funeral Home, New Germany. Donations may be made to Canadian Liver Foundation, Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch or Canadian Diabetes Association.

ACKER, Lester Eugene - 80, Springfield, Annapolis Co., passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Falkland Ridge, he was a son of the late Obediah and Gladys (Sarty) Acker. Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Louise Harlow; daughter, Trudy (Danny) Covey, Yarmouth; son, Dwayne, Springfield; sister, Agnes (Douglas) Durling, Westphal; grandchildren, Amy Lynn and Adam James. He was predeceased by brothers, Malcolm and Merlin. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday in Springfield United Baptist Church, Springfield, Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Springfield United Baptist church or a charity of choice.

Rufus Albert Sheridan
Mrs. Henry Allen of Falkland Ridge, has received word that her brother, Rufus Sheridan, of 506 Concord Street, Framingham, Mass., died in Quincy Hospital a few days ago, following a paralytic stroke, from which he did not regain consciousness, and died a couple of days later. He was 79 years old, a son of the late Matthew and Mary (Acker) Sheridan, of Springfield and New Albany.
In early manhood he went to Framingham and settled there; he married Miss Bertha Richardson, niece of Rev. M.R. Richardson, well-known pastor of Maritime Baptist churches half a century ago. Of their two children, Gladys and Karl, only the son survives, Miss Gladys and her mother died many years ago. Also predeceasing Mr. Sheridan were his parents, and his three brothers, William of Framingham; Milledge of Paradise West; and Herman, of New Albany. Surviving are three sisters, Cassie (Mrs. Henry Allen), Falkland Ridge; Lillian (Mrs. Amos Veinot), Rhode Island; and Leah (Mrs. John Grant), Nictaux West; and one brother, Asaph Sheridan, residing in Kentville.
Sympathy is extended to the family. Funeral service and burial took place in Framingham.

WILE, Jeanne M. - 77, Newcombville, Lunenburg Co., died November 19, 1995, at home. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Sadie (Joudrey) Oickle. Surviving are a son, Robert, Bridgewater; foster daughter, Irene (Mrs. Terrance Corkum), New Cumberland; brother, Lawrence, Newcombville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Dawson B.; brother, Norman. Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Seventh Day Adventist Church, Bridgewater, Pastor Caleb Bru officiating. Burial in Newcombville Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to Seventh Day Adventist Church or any charity.

JOUDREY, Donald Merton “Donnie”, 83 of Mahone Bay, passed away June 29, 2009 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Mahone Bay, he was a son of the late Morton Daniel and Amynella Miriam (Ernst) Joudrey. Donnie worked for twenty years at South Shore Sales & Service, Lunenburg, then as a commissionaire for 15 years at National Sea Products, Lunenburg, retiring at age 72. He was an Honorary Member of Mahone Bay Fire Department, having served for forty-two years, thirty-five of those years as Secretary. He was also a member of St. James’ Anglican Church, Mahone Bay. Donnie was a dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs fan for which he received light-hearted teasing from the nurses. He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Eichel) Joudrey; daughters, Suzette (Pat) Smith, Mahone Bay; Marilyn (Brad) Tremere, Blockhouse; son, George (Juliette) Joudrey, Blockhouse; “The apple of his eye”, his grandchildren, Aaron (Christina) Joudrey, Maitland; Katie Joudrey, Blockhouse; Ryan Smith, Halifax; Graham and Michael Smith, Mahone Bay; Courtney and Matthew Tremere, Blockhouse and his great-grandchildren, Cole and Leah Joudrey, Maitland. Also surviving are sister, Nita Joudrey, Mahone Bay; sister-in-law, Kaye Joudrey, Wentzell’s Lake; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Anne Louise; brother, Gerald Joudrey. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. No visiting by request. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2009 at St. James’ Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, The Rev. Ian Wissler officiating. A reception will follow at St. James' Parish Hall. Interment of ashes will be in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to St. James’ Anglican Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Mahone Bay Fire Department. The family would like to thank the special nurses on the fourth floor at South Shore Regional Hospital and also Dr. John Jenkins and Judy for their many years of care and Dr. Heather Robertson for her care of Donnie over the last several months. Sadie Mae Burgoyne, 78, of Springfield, passed away, June 18, 1983 at the D.M. Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Northfield, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Jessie (Fiendal) Arenburg. Surviving her are five daughters, Elsie (Mrs. Ben Pyne), Lawrencetown; Pearl (Mrs. Perry Acker), Lake Pleasant; Marie (Mrs. William Bohner), Martin's Point; Hazel (Mrs. Albert Lowe), Falkland Ridge; Marion (Mrs. Irving Burgoyne), Springfield; two sons, Harold, Digby; Harry of Middleton; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Fred; a sister Beatrice; three brothers, Percy, Obed and Harry; and three grandchildren. Burial was at Springfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were from the Springfield Hockey Team by request - Randy Lowe, Terry Lohnes, Brenton and Kendall Sproule, Kenny Tufts and Gary Zinck.

Frank Ross Joudrey
A wide circle of relatives and friends were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Frank R. Joudrey at the V.G. Hospital on October 25, 1967. The late Mr. Joudrey was born at Upper Cornwall in 1903, the youngest son of Mrs. Maude(Deal) and the late Harry Joudrey. Surviving are his wife, the former Lillian Veinot; two sons, Lloyd and Donald, at home; two daughters, Cheryl, Bridgewater; and Isabel (Mrs.Noble Veinot) of Bridgewater; four grandchildren; two brothers, Claude and Morley of Berlin, New Hampshire; and his aged mother, Mrs. Maude Joudrey. A brother, Donald, predeceased him 29 years ago and a sister, in infancy.
Funeral services were held from the New Cornwall Baptist Church on October 28, 1967, with Rev. Eric Miner officiating. Hymns sung were "Breathe On Me, Breath of God, " and "Abide With Me." Interment was at the New Cornwall Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Guy Joudrey, Ray Joudrey,
Stuart Joudrey, George Demond. Phinney Lyon, and Gilbert Veinot.

OICKLE, Ola Gertrude - 60, Prince Rupert, B.C., passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2007, in Prince Rupert General Hospital. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Gertrude (Moore) Oickle. She is survived by sisters, Carol Brown (Olan), Kemptown; Joan Cormier (Donald), Chezzetcook; Brenda Henderson (Edgar), Prince Rupert, B.C.; brothers, Stanley Oickle (Marlene), Port Colborne, Ont.; Ronald Oicke, Langley, B.C.; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Gerald and Oran Oickle. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, in Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, Rev. David MacNaughton officiating, with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Internment will be held at a later date in Watson Cemetery, Truro.

ZINCK, Naomi "Pauline" - 96, Halifax and formerly of Bayport, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born in Sweetland, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Martha (Eisenhauer) Veinotte. Pauline was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by daughter, Sylvia and son-in-law, Charles Mossman, Halifax; grandchildren, Heather (Gary) Tilman, Lower Sackville; Sheila (Paul) Morris, Bedford; great-grandchildren, Shauna, Melanie, David, Jennifer, and sister-in-law, Emily Zinck, Lunenburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul; sisters, Edna, Lena; brothers, Norman, Elvin, Maurice and Ernest. Friends are invited to share their memories of Pauline with her family during visitation in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg, today from 7-9 p.m. and where the service to celebrate Pauline's life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Bayport Cemetery, Bayport. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to the charity of your choice. Pauline's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Vincent's Guest Home for the wonderful compassionate care while Pauline resided at the home. We thank the doctors and nurses at the QEII 4.1 Unit for all their concerns. A special thanks to family and friends for their love and support of Pauline.

SILVER, Clement Gerald - 80, Bloomfield, Digby Co., died November 23, 1998, in Digby General Hospital. Born in Ninevah, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Dennis and Ida (Veinot) Silver. He was a member of North Range United Baptist Church. In his earlier years, he worked in the lumber woods, then drove a school bus, then drove an oil truck for 22 years until retirement. He also farmed part-time. He is survived by his wife, the former Kathleen Beattie; daughter, Sheila and husband David Thomas, North Range; their children, Brian, Michael and Kathy; daughter, Carolyn and husband Richard Amon, North Range; their children, Tracy and Shawn; son, Eugene and wife Phyllis, North Range; their son, Danny; son, Terry and wife Laurie, New Minas; great-grandchildren, Shaylene Silver, Ryan Doucette and Noah Thomas; sister, Lavalla Waterman, Bloomfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandson, Robert Silver. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. today in North Range United Baptist Church, Dr. George Allen officiating. Interment in Bloomfield Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or to North Range United Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby.

VEINOTTE, Ernest Mansfield - 78, Sweetland, Lunenburg Co., died January 25, 1997, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Sweetland, he was a son of the late Wilbert and Martha (Eisenhauer) Veinotte. He was a past employee of National Sea Products, Lunenburg, and the Department of Transportation, survey crew. Surviving are daughters, Viola Naulls, Trenton, Ont.; Evelyn (Mrs. Basil Church), First Peninsula, Lunenburg Co.; Roselene (Mrs. S.J. McCulley), Victoria, B.C.; Erma Hackett, Northwest, Lunenburg Co.; son, Derrel, Midville Branch; sister, Pauline Zinck, Bayport; 15 grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Daisy Marguerite Slauenwhite; daughter, Lillian; a grandson; sister, Lena; twin sister, Edna; brothers, Elvin, Maurice, Norman. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday, both in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, Rev. Robert Rock officiating. Burial in Sweetland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, The Lung Association or to any charity.
