McGILL, Eldon St. Clair - 91, of Bridgetown, formerly of Inglisville, passed away August 15, 2006, in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, where he had received loving care. Born in East Inglisville, he was a son of the late Robie and OraBell (Best) McGill. He lived most of his life in Inglisville, where he was a farmer and truck driver. In later years, he worked at CFB Greenwood as a commissionaire until his retirement. He was a member of Inglisville Baptist Church where he was a deacon and involved in various church activities. He played on a darts team at the Lawrencetown Legion and he enjoyed a good game of cards with family and friends. He was an avid woodsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, the former Muriel Almeda McGill, Bridgetown; daughter, Deborah Paulette (Gerald) Hannam, Lawrencetown; sister, Reva Wood, Inglisville; grandsons, Sean Hannam, Greenwood; Joe (Wanda) McGill, Inglisville; Randy McGill, Inglisville, and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Blair Reginald; sisters, Edna, Marie; brothers, Reginald and Carroll. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by family request. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 18, in Whitman Cemetery, South Williamston, Rev. Barbara Bishop officiating. Donations in memory may be made to Inglisville Baptist Church or to a charity of choice.

Mrs. Henry Raimey
A highly respected resident of New Germany, Mrs. Henry Raimey, passed away at the Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater, on Saturday, December 11th, after some months of ill health. She was before marriage Miss Alice Seamone, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Seamone, of New Canada, and was 77 years of age. During her married life she resided at Simpson's Corner, moving to New Germany following the death of her husband some years ago. Surviving are three daughters, Inez (Mrs. Dean Bridges) of Tampa, Florida, who was with her mother during her last illness; Beatrice (Mrs. Corey Cail) of Wilmington, Mass.; Mona (Mrs. Hallett Russell) of New Germany; five sons, Swasey of Methune, Mass.; Eldred, Lemage, Harris, and Tyler, all of New Germany; one sister also survives, Mrs. Regina McLaughlin of Welton, Maine; also one brother, Harding Seamone of Farmington, Maine.
Mrs. Raimey was a faithful member of St. John's Anglican Church. She was of a kind and cheerful nature and will be greatly missed by a large circle of relatives and friends.The funeral was held on Tuesday, December 14 th. Services at St. John's Anglican Church were conducted by the rector, Rev. H.J. Isaacs, assisted by Rev. W.R. Martell of Wolfville. Hymns sung were "The Old Rugged Cross, " and " Breathe On Me, Breath of God." Pall bearers were Willis Veinot, Leigh Veinot, Arleigh Varner, and Albert Veinot.Interment was made in the family lot in Lakeside Cemetery.

WILE, Vernon Roscoe - 70, Hemford, Lunenburg Co., died February 8, 1996, in Hemford Forest as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Hemford, he was a son of the late Lawson and Idella (Eisnor) Wile. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas. He was employed as a bus driver in Halifax and Bridgewater until retirement. Surviving are his wife, the former Grace Deamond; son, Sheldon, Hemford; sisters, Lillian (Mrs. Mervyn Wile), Toronto; Iris (Mrs. Basil Wagner), Mildred (Mrs. Melvin Silver), Hemford; a grandson; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Verna; brothers, Oscar, Ellis, Claude. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, funeral 1:30 p.m. Monday, both in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Rev. Wayne Mitton officiating. Burial in Hemford Cemetery, Hemford. Family flowers only. Donations to Hemford Cemetery or Hemford Fire Department.

MAILMAN, Violet Gertrude - 74, New Albany, Annapolis County, died October 20, 1992, at home. Born in Upper Northfield, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Melbourne and Annie (Zemkee) Silver. She was a member of New Albany United Church and UCW. At the time of her death, she was treasurer of Pine Grove Cemetery and Loyalist Cemetery, New Albany. She is survived by a daughter, Ellen (Mrs. Reginald Sarty), Port Wade, Annapolis County; son, Reginald, New Albany; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Nauss, Bridgewater; Joyce (Mrs. Harold Veinot), Toronto; three brothers, Carl, Bridgetown; Edgar, Bridgewater; Earle, Upper Northfield; a grandson. She was predeceased by her husband, Milton (Tom); an infant son. The body is in Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John's United Church, Middleton, Dr. William MacDougall officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Albany. Donations may be made to Pine Grove Cemetery, Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville or Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton.

DURLING, Elizabeth Beatrice - 62, Clementsport, formerly of Bridgetown, died Friday in Digby General Hospital, Digby. born in Morse Road, Annapolis County, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Malvina (Chute) Veinott. She is survived by her companion, Leslie wright, five sons, Ronald, Bridgewater, Calab and Will, Fall River; Frank, Ontario; Robert, British Columbia; two brothers, Calab, Centrelea, Annapolis county, Willie, Bridgetown, a sister, Alberta (Mrs. Warren Fredericks, Carleton corner, seven grandchildren, she was predeceased by a brother Allen. The body is in Robert l. Hall Funeral home, Bridgetown. funeral service will be held 11 am. today from St. James Anglican church, Bridgetown, Rev. Peter Young officiating. Burial will be in the Clementsvale cemetery, Clementsvale . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Izaak Walton Killam Children's Hospital.

OICKLE, Marjorie Sophie - 91, Ward Road, Greenwood, died October 25, 1999, at home. Born in West Brookfield, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Whitman) Beals. Surviving are sons, Everett, Kingston; Wilfred (Helen), Aylesford; Arnold (Rose), Ward Road; daughter, Rita Selig, Edmonton, Alta.; sister, Lillian Gates, Innisfail, Alta.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gail; brothers, Hewy, George and Ted. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, funeral service 2 p.m. Friday, both in Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton, Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. Burial in Tremont Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

COLEMAN, George Herbert - Oromocto, N.B., the soul of George left for heaven on April 17, 2001, after a brief illness. He was born February 5, 1930, in Steam Mill, to the late George C. and Laura (Veniot) Coleman. He proudly served his country for 27 years with Canadian Armed Forces during which time he was wounded in the Korean Conflict, served in Egypt, Germany and many bases in Canada. After his retirement from the CAF he was briefly employed by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 93, Oromocto, N.B., to which he was also a member. He was employed by the Canadian Forestry for 10 years before retiring at age 65 years. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Winters) Coleman; daughters, Sandra Coleman, Fredericton, N.B.; Carolyn (Louis) Menchinton, Oromocto, N.B.; son, Steven Coleman, Oromocto, N.B.; his loving grandchildren, Laura Coleman, Krystal Coleman, Samantha and Jason Pedrosa, George Menchinton; his great-granddaughter, Taylor Ostrom; brothers, Blake (Christine) Coleman, Steam Mill; Richard (Erma) Coleman, Kingston; Reginald (Fe) Coleman, Parksville, B.C.; Amos (Carol) Coleman, Cottage Cove; brother-in-law, John Slattery, Lower Sackville; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by both his parents; his only sister, Clarice Slattery. Committal service will be performed by Pastor Ed Shaw and Dr. Fenerty in Bethany Baptist Church, Aldershot, at 3 p.m. Friday, August 31. Interment will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family and friends are invited to return to the church to share their memories of George.

Eugene Elwood Poole, 81, New Germany, died Tuesday, March 26, 1985, at Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Bridgetown, he was the son of the late Charles and Cora (Shaw) Poole.
He is survived by his wife, the former Edith Tipert; two daughters, Lucille (Mrs. B.J. Hamm), Halifax; Lana (Mrs. Eugene Veinotte), West Northfield; three sons, Layton (Billy), Kentville; Gerald, New Germany; Morris, Hamilton, Ontario; 11 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Harry, Stanley, and Benjamin.
Following cremation, funeral service was held at St. John's in The Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, Rev. Leslie Robertson officiated.
Burial took place in the Parish Cemetery.

KAULBACK, Oran Edward (John) - 82, Oakland, Lunenburg County, died November 6, 1993, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Oakland, he was a son of the late James and Mary Ann (Acker) Kaulback. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Atlantic Ship Building, Mahone Bay. He is survived by his wife, the former Glennie Demone; two daughters, Janet, Mary (Mrs. Andrew Hirtle), both of Oakland; two sons, David, Bobby, both of Oakland; brother, Earl, Mahone Bay; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Marie. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Fred Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay. Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Fishermen's Memorial Hospital or South Shore Regional Hospital.

FREDERICKS, Ella Mae - 94, Nictaux, formerly of Torbrook West, Annapolis Co., passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born May 15, 1914, in Bloomington, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Owen and Grace (Vidito) Veinot. Ella Mae lived her life giving to and doing for the people she loved. A tireless, strong yet gentle lady. In early years she worked for United Fruit Cold Storage; The Cannery and the Dry Cleaners, all in Middleton, besides helping her husband on the family farm for 60 years. She was a wonderful cook, liked to knit, sew, rug hook, crochet and play cards. Ella Mae was always ready for a good joke. Surviving are son, Dallas (Alice), Torbrook West; daughters, Doreen Hiltz, Kingston; Frances (Ralph) Shaw, Nictaux, who gave Mom tender, loving care for five and a half years; Donna (Mervin) Boyd, Wilmot; LaVerne (Martie) Grant, Nictaux West; Diana (Eddy) Harvey, Dartmouth; sisters, Jennie (Clarence) Smith, Hebbville; Maxine Lupton, North Hills Nursing Home, Granville Ferry; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Willard; sons, James Robert, Roger Willard; daughter, Zelpha Marie Vidito; great-grandson, Anthony Boyd; sisters, Elsie Pelton, Kathleen (Pelton) Elliott; brothers, Glendon "Dick"; Stanley, Reginald "Reggie", Raymond and Cecil. The family would like to thank Phyllis Spinney, Toronto, Ont., (Mom's niece) for always remembering her and sending her flowers on special occasions and the VON of Annapolis County. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m., today in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, in Torbrook Baptist Church, Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. Interment will be in Torbrook Mines United Cemetery. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association; Canadian Cancer Research Foundation; Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Victorian Order of nurses, Annapolis Branch.

RAMEY, Beatrice Ceretha - 97, Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, Bridgewater, formerly of West Northfield, died September 7, 1997, in the home. Born in Lower Northfield, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Phoebe (Joudrey) Zinck. Surviving are daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Percy Veinot), West Northfield; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, H. Wilson Darr; second husband, Gordon Ramey; son, Henry Darr; sisters, Flossie, Effie; brothers, William, Angus, Fred, Percy. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday, both in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater, Rev. William Gustafson officiating. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Family flowers only. Donations to Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, Maple Grove Cemetery fund or any charity.

VERCH (Joudrey), Beverly Ann - 51, formerly of Bridgewater, died September 20, 1998, in Elizabeth Bruyere Health Centre, Ottawa. She was a daughter of the late Dora and Spurgeon Joudrey. Surviving are her husband, Donald; son, Cory, Ottawa; sisters, Ruth (Mrs. William Lapointe), Dartmouth; Geneva MacDonald, Toronto; Shirley (Mrs. Reginald Crouse), Bridgewater; Susan (Mrs. David Conrad), Mississauga, Ont.; Dianna Giannone, Brampton, Ont. Memorial service was held in Capital Memorial Gardens chapel, Ottawa, September 26. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society.

Arthur Melburne Robar, 74, died Wednesday, April 17, 1985.
Born in Dayspring of the late Banford and Phoebe (Slauenwhite) Robar, he was an active member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Upper LaHave.
He is survived by three daughters, Kathryn (Mrs. Mervyn Wagner), Dartmouth; Dianne (Mrs. David Fielding), Pleasantville; Elaine (Mrs. Philip Myra), Dayspring; five sons, Harry and Gerald, Dayspring; John, Dartmouth; David, Halifax; and Wayne, Lower Sackville; two brothers, Maurice, Halifax; Robert, Dayspring; and 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Nellie (Zinck).
The funeral was held from Mt.Olivet Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Stephen Jasch. Interment in Dayspring Cemetery.
Pallbearers were sons, Harry, Gerald, John, David, Wayne Robar and son-in-law, Philip Myra.
