Milton Bruce Whynot, 39, North River, died Thursday, April 24, 1985, in Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Cherryfield, he was a son of Harold and Kathleen (Conn) Whynot, Northfield. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sons, Timmy and Steven, both of Ontario; a sister, Edith, North River; a brother, Elmer, East Dalhousie. He was predeceased by a brother, Clinton. The body is in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River. Rev. Richard Weaver officiating. Della Princetta Croft, 97, Hebbs Cross, Lunenburg County, died November 9, 1993, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. ZWICKER, John Maynard - 78, Walden, Lunenburg Co., passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in East Chester, he was a son of the late Maynard and Fannie (Stevens) Zwicker. In John's earlier years, he joined the Canadian Army, serving in Aldershot with the Royal Canadian Regiment. Following his service time, John established life in the community of Walden, where he raised his family, worked as a logger, farmer, blueberry grower and Christmas tree producer and served his community with pride. He was elected as councillor for the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg where he served 18 years on many of the committees and school board. He was a member of the Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Producers Association and was a founding and active member of the Walden Volunteer Fire Department. John was a member and past warden of St. Mark's Anglican Church, Walden. He was active in the church at all levels including the parish and the diocese, where he was often elected as a synod representative and was always willing to serve on various committees and councils. Most recently, John was the recipient of the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award, presented to him in May, by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Frances Irene Naas; daughters, Wendy (Richard) Hiltz, Maxine (Donald) Myler, all of Walden; sons, Ross (Linda), Andrew (Michelle Oickle), Barry (Corrine Collicutt), all of Walden; Marshall (Kathy Penney), Cookville; Martin, Rhodes Corner; brothers, Ronald, Walden; Elwood (Ina), Fredericton, N.B.; sisters, Margaret (Barry) Spicer, Marion Zwicker, all of Berwick; Frances (Cecil) Crossland, Clearland; Marie (John) Harlow, Dartmouth; 10 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. RETHERFORD (Whitman), Eleanor J. - 74, Moreno Valley, California, died July 21, 1996. Born in Inglisville, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Guilford and Linda (Malcolm) Whitman. During her early years, she was employed at various jobs in the Valley; with Nova Scotia Light and Power, Halifax; with CN Montreal and with US Air Force, Goose Bay, where she met her former husband, Gene. She then made her home in Moreno Valley where she was employed for many years with March Air Force Base and retired in 1983. She enjoyed history, music and gardening. Surviving are daughters, Lennie (Mrs. Daniel Oringderff), Fort Worth, Texas; Sarah, Grand Terrace, Calif.; Alida (Mrs. Donald Hughes), Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Josie Hood, Mrs. Lillian LeRue, both of Halifax; Erna (Mrs. Kendall Rawding), Mrs. Joyce O'Brien, both of Truro; Claire, Boston, Miriam (Mrs. John Blackwell), Dartmouth; brother, Malcolm, Bridgetown. Born in Spa Springs, N.S., he was a son of the late Everett C. and Mrs. Elsie M. (Rafuse) Daniels, Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Lunenburg - Mrs. William Veneau, 77, of Lunenburg died at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital. She was born at Northwest, near Lunenburg, daughter of the late Obediah Rafuse. She was for many years a member of the Royal True Blue Association. Surviving are six children: Olive (Mrs. Everett Walters), Marion (Mrs. Phillip MacIsaac), Kathleen (Mrs. Gordon Clark), Lunenburg; Mae (Mrs. Roy Dares), Dartmouth; Verna (Mrs. Carroll Fiendel), Amherstview, Ont.; Donald, Oromocto; three sisters, Mrs. Beulah Oickle, Northwest; Hildred (Mrs. Douglas Schwartz), and Lucille (Mrs. George Mullins), Bridgewater, Mass., ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral service was at St. John's Anglican Church with Ven, Archdeacon Harold Graven, officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery.

SILVER, Cecil Robert - 91, Rockland, Kings Co., passed away December 2, 2002, at 105 Orchard St., Berwick. Born November 30, 1911, in Lower Northfield, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late John Levi and Bessie Suzanna (Jodrey) Silver. Cecil was a cooper by trade and had been employed with Minas Basin, later known as Avon Foods Ltd., Berwick, for 33 years. In 1946, he started planting his orchard which became a family farm that he and his wife turned into one of the largest growers of peaches and plums in the Annapolis Valley. He was a member of Berwick United Church. Surviving are his son, Keith (Corinne) Silver, Rockland; daughter, Sherald (Reginald) Patterson, Berwick; grandchildren, Gary (Cheryl) Patterson, Gina (Curtis Dietz) Patterson, Gwen (Chris) Saunders, Melanie and John Silver; great-grandchildren, Clare and Chloe Patterson, Benjamin Saunders. He was predeceased by his wife, Gyneth Marguerite (Silver); brother, Kenneth Silver; sister, Blanche Lohnes. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick. VEINOT, Frank Leslie
November 26, 1920 - January 7, 2006
The following is a tribute to the late Frank Veinot of Simpsons Corner who passed away in South Shore Regional Hospital on January 7, 2006, at the age of 85. He is fondly remembered by the Illingworth and Veinot families, many neighbours and friends. Frank was the second eldest son of Clayton and Elvida (Woodworth) Veinot. He was born and lived most of his live in Simpsons Corner next door to the family homestead. He is remembered as a very generous person who helped others and enjoyed company. He had a very direct way of saying what was on his mind which was usually understood and appreciated. He had various expressions that were truly unique to him. While in declining health this part year, he was most appreciative of those who helped him with chores and meals and in particular to Jody and Kellie Illingworth and Garnet and Nancy Veinot for their constant care. Some of the many places that Frank worked include Bowater Mersey, Nova Scotia Power; Acadia Construction, and John Eadie Orchards in Dracut, Me. He was very fond of animals and spent many years raising cattle and attending sales. He enjoyed working in the woods and used his tractor until the summer of 2005. His cat, Bim, was usually near his side. He shared his home with common-law partner, Mary Illingworth, who predeceased him in 1996. They raised her son, Raeburn. Later in life they were devoted babysitters of Daniel Veinot, son of Garnet and Nancy Veinot. He is survived by brother, Rex; stepchildren, Edith (Murry) Richard, Lower Sackville; Raeburn (Janet) Illingworth, Simpsons Corner; stepgrandchildren, Tina (Wayne) Eisnor, Trina (Michael) Wentzell, Julie Illingworth, Jody (Kellie) Illingworth; five step great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by partner, Mary; sisters, Ola, Hope, Carrie, Cora, and brother, Robert. According to his wishes, the body has been cremated.
Langille, Walter B. - 96, Northwest, Lunenburg County, died Tuesday in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital. Born in Northwest, he was a son of the late Thomas and Sophia Elizabeth (Schnare) Langille. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Mahone Bay. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a former member of Royal Canadian Legion, branch 49, Mahone Bay. He is survivied by his wife, the former Mildred Oickle; six daughters, Beatrice Knickle, Lower Cornwall; Evelyne (Mrs. Perry Veinot), Faye (Mrs. Herman Crouse), Rose (Mrs. Ray Wamboldt), Yvonne (Mrs. Gordon Rose), all of Northwest; Doreen (Mrs. Norman Mossman), Upper Kingsburg; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-drandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by an infant son; a sister Jean; three brothers, Harold, Palmer, Wilfred. The body is in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. George Wawin officiating. Burial will be in Northwest Cemetery. Gerald Eugene Veinot, 43, of West Northfield passed away suddenly at his home on the morning of Friday, July 31, 1981. Born in New Canada on December 9, 1937, son of Wesley and Bernice (Veinot) Wentzell. Having spent nearly all of his life in West Northfield he will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Employed with J.A. Turner & Sons Limited, Gerald was active in many community activities. He served as a member of the Northfield District Fire Department, supported the West Northfiled Community Center, served as a past executive member of the Bridgewater Travellers Club, a past director of the LaHave River Credit Union, a member of the Track and Trail Snowmobile Club, an active blood donor for the New Germany Red Cross and an active parent in the local Guide and Scout organizations. He was also a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church at West Northfield. Married on July 24, 1965, to the former Cheryl Veinot of Waterloo, he was a devoted husband and loving father. Surviving besides his parents are his wife Cheryl, a daughter Pamela, three sons Rodney, Collin, and Dennis; two brothers Robert and James. The body rested at Sweeney's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, August 2nd at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, West Northfield. Burial was in Maple Crove Cemetery, West Northfield.
