WILE, Ellis Robert - 73, Hemford, Lunenburg County, died November 4, 1993, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Hemford, he was a son of the late Lawson and Idella (Eisnor) Wile. He was a member of the Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Producers Association. He is survived by his wife, the former Constance Mailman; daughter, Janet, Bridgewater; two brothers, Claude, New Germany; Vernon, Hemford; three sisters, Lillian (Mrs. Mervyn Wile), Toronto; Iris (Mrs. Basil Wagner), Hemford; Mildred (Midge) (Mrs. Melvin Silver), Hemford; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Robert Ellis, Alan Bruce; brother, Oscar; sister, Verna. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in Emmanuel United Church, Hemford, Rev. Grant Walls officiating. Burial will be in Hemford Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation, S.H.A.I.D. Tree Shelter Society or any charity. Arrangements under the direction of R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville.

RAMEY, Warren Hallet - 83, Barss Corner, Lunenburg Co., died September 24, 1996, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Northfield, he was a son of the late Stanley Levi and Zilpha (Ramey) Ramey. He was a member of Epworth United Church, New Germany. He was a retired employee of Bowater Mersey Paper Co. Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Blanche (Swindell) Nichols; daughters, Madeline MacKinlay, Toronto, Ont.; Velma (Mrs. Nelson Veinot), New Germany; brother, Laurie, Scarsdale; grandchildren, Cheryl MacKinlay, Toronto; Elizabeth Daye, Cornwall, Ont.; Kelly (Mrs. Andy Russell), Pinehurst; Terry Veinot, Halifax; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Brandon Russell; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mildred, Alice, Sadie; brothers, Gordon, Horace; Owen, William; brother, Harry in infancy. No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday in Epworth United Church, Rev. Wayne Mitton officiating. Interment at a later date. No flowers by request. SILVER, Margaret Ann - 94, Hemford, Lunenburg Co., died March 7, 2005, in Rosedale Home For Special Care, New Germany. Born in Nineveh, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Albertina (Lohnes) Stockman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her daughter, Ellen, at home; son, David and foster son, Cyril Veinot, both of Hemford; grandchildren, Jeremy, Manitoba; Angela (Deon), Bridgewater. Also surviving are Annette Silver and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Naaman; sisters, Annie, Anna Stacia, Lessie, Edith, and Helen; brothers, John, Bernard, William, Mark, Henry, Garrett, and Leonard. Visitation 2-4 p.m. today, with funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, both in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Rev. Joan Conrad officiating. Burial in Hemford Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted. SARTY, David William - 76, North River, Lunenburg Co., died February 27, 1997, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at North River, he was a son of the late Edwin James and AnnaBell (Robar) Sarty. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River; New Germany and Area Men's Choir, and Lunenburg County Fiddle Club. He was a self-employed lumberman and merchant, operating a store in North River during his working life. Surviving are his wife, the former Althea Frank; daughter, Sylvia (Mrs. Vincent Robar), North River; son, Mark, Bruhm Road; sisters, Mary (Mrs. Wilfred Robar), North River; Vivian (Mrs. Robert Frank), Brickton, Annapolis Co.; brother, Paul, North River; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Minni Demone, Elva Sarty, infant sisters, Florence, Meda; half-sisters, Elsie Robar, Gladys Acker, Blanche Meisner, Lillian Acker, Sadie and Alice Crouse; brother, Fred; half-brothers, Mark, Doran; a granddaughter. KEDDY, Annie Viola - 89, Aylesford, died October 9, 1995, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born at Lake George, she was a daughter of the late Rupert and Laura (Lutz) Joudrey. She was a member of Morristown United Baptist Church; Millville Women's Institute and the Seniors Sixty Plus Group, Millville. Surviving are a son, John (Jack), Aylesford; foster son, Hartley Lonergan, Aylesford; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Dora Lutz, Ruby (Mrs. Cecil Rawding), Nina (Mrs. Cecil Veinotte), Aylesford; Bertha (Mrs. Wendall Hennigar), New Minas. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Eulric; brothers, Frank, Fred, Vance; sisters, Marie Patterson, Ella Tupper. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick. JOUDREY, David Robert - 32, Lower Northfield, lost his life September 12, 1999, due to a boating mishap on LaHave River in Pleasantville, near Bridgewater. His body was recovered Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of Robert E. and Marilyn (Meisner) Joudrey, Lower Northfield with whom he resided. David "Super Dave" will be greatly missed by many friends he made during his short time with us, especially his last employer Laurie and Rita Zinck; and son, Blair, West Northfield where he worked five years on their mixed farm. No job was too big or too small for Dave to do, from woods work, construction, auto mechanics and he took such pride making hay, starting at the early age of seven, on his parents farm in Lower Northfield ending at Zinck farm this summer. David asked for very little in life, but gave so much to all who knew him. He is survived by his sisters, Ann (Tremayne) Nauss, Sweetland; Beth Uhlman, Willeville; and Lyndon Uhlman, Hebbville; only nephew, Jordan Tremayne Nauss, Sweetland; many aunts and uncles; only surviving grandmother, Marjorie Meisner, Bridgewater. He was predeceased by maternal grandfather, Clarence Meisner; paternal grandparents, Clyde and Beatrice Joudrey, all of Lower Northfield. Visitation will be held today, September 16, 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Funeral service Friday, September 17, at 11 a.m. in St.Andrew's Lutheran Church, West Northfield, Rev. William Gustafson officiating and assisted by Pastor Robert Rock. Burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Immediate family flowers only. Donations to Lunenburg County Ground Search and Rescue, St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, or Maple Grove Cemetery Fund.

NICHOLS, Jessie Viola - 86, Truro, died January 31, 2003, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Aylesford, she was a daughter of the late Rupert and Maude (Crocker) Veinott. She worked at Bagnell Dry Cleaners in Truro for many years, was well-known for her crocheting, had a great social life with her senior friends and enjoyed visiting her family members and taking part in family events. Surviving are daughters, Ann Creelman, Barb Penney, both of Truro; Margaret Langille (Howard), Bible Hill; Shirley Cameron (Bill), Tatamagouche; Maxine Mann, Ontario; daughters-in-law, Betty Nichols, Tatamagouche; Jeanne Nichols, Wentworth; sister, Ruby Trites, Millville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Veinott, Aylesford; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clinton; sons, Russell and Freddie; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Hanson, Clifford, George; sister, Gladys. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, both in Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Spring burial in The Falls Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

CARVER, Roxie E. - 77, of Mersey Point, Queens Co., passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, on March 9, 2009. Born in Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Helen (Hyson) Baker. Roxie worked as a Red Cross nurse and was a former employee of the Radio Café, Liverpool, Queens General Hospital in Environmental Services (Housekeeping) for ten years, Transcotia Motel in Brooklyn and Mersey Seafoods Liverpool and Moose Harbour. She was the first woman on the CAW National Executive Board. She was an activist in CAW Local 1325 and CUPE. A life member of the Ladies Auxiliary; Mersey Branch No. 38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool, an honourary member of the Queens Chapter of Certified Nursing Assistants, later renamed Licensed Practical Nurses and a member of the Nova Scotia Guides Association. She enjoyed camping in Hibernia, playing bingo, as well as shopping. She enjoyed spending time with family especially her great-grandson, Cody. She is survived by her husband, Sayward; daughters, Ann (Almon) Cunningham, Mersey Point; Sandy (Barry) Cross, East Berlin; Paula Levy (Dave Conrad), Liverpool; grandson, Almon (Heather Benvie) Cunningham, White Point; great-grandson, Cody Benvie; stepgranddaughters, Megan and Rebecca Conrad; half-sister, Gail (Dennis) Lavender, Beach Meadows. She was predeceased by her first husband, Leslie; infant daughter; son, Paul; brother, Arnold and nephew, Greg. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, from 7-9 p.m. in Chandlers' Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 12, at 2 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Chaplain Donald Lawton officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Liverpool. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

CORKUM, Lizzie Frances - 94, Maplewood, Lunenburg Co., died September 23, 1996, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Maplewood, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Olive (Joudrey) Faulkenham. She was a member of Kindom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, New Germany. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are sons, Donald, Bridgewater; Ellis, Parham, Ont.; Arlee, Western Shore; daughters, Eva Barkhouse, Olive (Mrs. Bennett Sawler), Western Shore; Greta (Mrs. George DeMond), New Cornwall; Isobel (Mrs. Leaman Wentzell), Newburne; Daisy Carter, Bridgewater; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin; sons, Carman, Leon; five grandchildren; her twin sister, Sadie and sister, Beulah; brother, Ernest. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service 2 p.m. Thursday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, New Germany, Carson Falkenham officiating. Burial in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Newburne. Family flowers only. INNESS, Marjorie Evangeline - 77, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., died April 13, 1999, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Middleton, Annapolis Co. she was a daughter of the late Percey and Hattie (Starrett) Baker. Surviving are daughters, Pauline Whynot, Springfield; Shirley Wolfe, Liverpool; Susan Wagner, Margie Inness, Bridgewater; sons, Carl, at home; Harold, Halifax; twin sister, Margaret Hubley, Bridgewater; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son, Robert; daughter, Marie. There will be no visitation by request. Memorial service 1:30 p.m. Friday in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Rev. Penny Bailey officiating. DURLING, Franklin Warren "Frank" - 71, Victoria Road, Wilmot, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Bridgetown, he was a son of the late Truman and Lola (Schaffner) Durling. He was in the Canadian Army with the R.C.H.A. Station in Shilo, Man. He worked for Irving Oil for 38 years, 28 years of it were as branch manager at the Irving Steamer Storage in Margaretville and the next 10 years were as branch manager in Middleton, retiring in 1993. On the side, he also held a contract with Canada Post, operating the Highway Service from Middleton to Digby for 16 years with his son Paul. He also operated a window and door business for 20 years and a fish and lobster business at the Margaretville Wharf. He was a member of the Middleton Lions Club, for the last five years as vice-president/director, and also belonged to the Irving Alumni Association in Saint John. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Isabell; sons, Allan (Pam) and Greg (Shelley), both of Margaretville; daughter, Donna (Frank) Nowe, Meadowvale; grandchildren, Darren, Melanie, Randy, Justine, Mitchell, Ryan, Perry, Jamie, and Kristin; great-grandchildren, Jason, Keisha, Gabriel, and Kayla. He was predeceased by his son, Paul, and great-granddaughter, Charlotte. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, November 29, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. (902) 825-3448, where a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 30, Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. Interment will be in Nictaux Cemetery. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

PEARL, Emmerson Victor - 75, Murrays Siding, Colchester Co., died September 7, 1995, at home. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Liza (Moore) Pearl. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas. He was a welder most of his life and prior to retirement worked with Toole's Machine Shop, Truro. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion branch 26, Truro. Surviving are a son, David, Lower Harmony, Colchester Co.; brother, Don, Kentville; sister, Tookie (Mrs. Bud Brown), Kentville; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Damie Zinck; brother, Everett; sisters, Eva, Jean, Irene. Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight, legion service 7 p.m. tonight, funeral 4 p.m. Saturday, all in Mattatall's Funeral Home, Truro, Rev. Curtis McDonald officiating. Burial in Bible Hill Cemetery. HARRIS, Donald Munroe - 90, October 1, 1918 - February 20, 2009. It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Munroe Harris, of Bridgetown, Annapolis Co., on Friday, February 20, 2009, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late Charles and Ida (Munroe) Harris. Don lived his entire life in the vicinity of Paradise and Bridgetown. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy Shore Patrol. Don was a life member and had given 62 faithful years to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 33, Bridgetown. He was an active member of St. James Anglican Church, a past member of the Bridgetown Lions Club and a shareholder of the Eden Golf & Country Club, West Paradise. Don was a councilor for 14 years for the town of Bridgetown. He loved his vegetable and flower gardens, and was noted for his pies and bread. He loved sharing all these things with his friends and neighbours. He especially enjoyed having people visiting at his home and having parties. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and his favorite expression was "What's the hurry, there's lots of time !". Don is survived by his wife, the former, May Fredericks-Young; son, John (Natalie), Bridgetown; stepson, Richard Young (Patty), Wainwright, Alta.; stepgrandchildren, Scott Young, Calgary, Alta.; Jamie Young, Dartmouth; dear friend, Roxie Young, Annapolis Royal; sisters, Frances White and Marjorie Anderson, both of Berwick; sister-in-law, Dorothy Harris, Caledonia, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by first wife, Ruth Burns; brother, Max; brothers-in-law, Weldon White and Ross Anderson. A very special thank you to Rev. Liz Early and Rev. Fred Hinxman; Tom and Sonja Meisner and family and the staff of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital medical floor and all who attended him during this troublesome time. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook. A memorial service and interment will take place at a later date. HAWKESWORTH, Cecil Parker - 83, Woodville, Kings Co., passed away Sunday, June 23, 2002, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Scarsdale, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Parker and Jennie (Hirtle) Hawkesworth. He worked on the farm until the outbreak of the Second World War, when he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces where he was trained as a cook and he served from 1941-1946. After his discharge from the army, he obtained a position at Acadia University Dining Hall, retiring in 1984 as Head Chef at Wheelock Dining Hall after 38 years of employment. He was a member of Woodville United Baptist Church; The Royal Canadian Legion Lumsden Branch 74, Wolfville and the Hillcrest Lodge 93, A.F. & A.M., New Germany for over 50 years. During his retirement he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading. He is survived by his wife, the former Hildred (Mossman_Hiltz) Hawkesworth; sons, Angus and Glenn (Julie); grandsons, Luke and Kyle, all of Wolfville; stepdaughters, Janet (Mark) Cornelius, Dianne (Gary) Dauphinee and Esther Barkhouse, all of Woodville; seven stepgrandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; sisters, Janetta (William) Dexter, Hampton, Annapolis Co.; Hazel Foster, Parkdale, Lunenburg Co.; brother, Dr. Earle (Elsie) Hawkesworth, Edmonton, Alta.; sister-in-law, Marion Hawkesworth, Wolfville; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret MacFayden Hawkesworth; sister, Lila; brothers, Claude, Robert, James and Bruce. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today with family in attendance this evening only. A Royal Canadian Legion service will begin at 6:15 p.m., followed by a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, all in H.C. Li ndsay Memorial Chapel, Wolfville, Rev. Murray Shaw officiating. Burial in Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville.
