BURNS, John M. - Granville Ferry, passed away July 23, 2008, in Northhills Nursing Home, Granville Ferry. Born in Barrs Corner, Lunenburg Co., in 1920, he was a son of the late Blygh and Bessie Burns. He served in the Second World War for six years following which he lived in England for several years, returning to Canada in 1987. He is survived by his wife, Ada (Porter) Burns; stepson, Micheal (Lynn), Oshawa, Ont.; a brother in Barrs Corner. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, in Harris Cemetery, Moschelle, Annapolis Co., Rev. Eugene Foster officiating.
Claude Simpson, 71, of Stanley Section, passed to his eternal rest at the D. M. Hospital at Bridgewater on October 20, 1985. Although in failing health for some time, his death came as a shock to his family and friends.He worked with the Bowater Mersey Paper Company Limited for 26 years, retiring due to ill health. He was born in Simpson's Corner on February 19, 1914, the son of the late Blanche (Zinck) and William Simpson. In 1938 he moved to Stanley Section where he lived ever since. He is survived by his sorrowing wife, the former Daisy Veinot; also eight daughters- Diane (Mrs. Hilton Veinot), Hemford; Anna Allen, Simpson's Corner; Sandra (Mrs. Bill Mould), Alberta; Sheila (Mrs. Ronald Hubley) Newcombville; Susanna (Mrs. Ira Conrad), Upper Branch; Dale (Mrs. Millage Deamond), West Clifford; Donna (Mrs. Allister Daniels), Stanley Section; Juanita, at home; four sons- Vonnie, Sonny, David, Stanley Section; and Danny, Hemford; 24 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mable (Mrs. George Benett) Middleton; two brothers, Fred, Stanley Section and Carrol, Simpson's Corner. He was predeceased by one sister, Elsie; six brothers, Abner, Roy, Lawrence, Gilbert, Kendall, Miles, also an infant son, Lamert, a granddaughter, Edith, and a grandson, Tracy.
Glennie Sarah Oickle, 95, Mahone Bay, formerly of Blockhouse, passed away August 8, 2000 in Mahone Bay. Born in Lower Northfield, Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of Allan and Theresa (Veinotte) Slauenwhite. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of St. James' Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, and past member of the Women's Institute, Blockhouse.
She is survived by daughters Dorothy Hopper, Southgate, Michigan; Amy Vienneau and husband Norbert, Halifax; Dawn Corkum and husband Beverly, Bridgewater; Vivian Schnare and husband Francis, Northwest; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Walter; an infant daughter; sons Laurie, Lester and Keith; sister Fannie; brothers Ellard and Emery.
The funeral was held August 12, 2000 at St. James' Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiated, assisted by Archdeacon John Clarke. Burial in Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse.

Born in Lower Northfield, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Ellen (Slauenwhite) Slauenwhite. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, and a former member of Women's Institute of Nova Scotia. Surviving are daughters, Audrey Mosher, Western Shore; Betty Aulenback, Bridgewater; Peggy Ann Smith, Dartmouth; brother, Reginald, Sweetland; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Leander; infant daughter, Edna; sisters, Lois, Elva, Daisy, Mildred, Ola, Edna, Jenny; brothers, William, Robert, Kenneth. WILE, Claude Eldred - 81, Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., formerly of Hemford, Lunenburg Co., died December 18, 1994, at the home. Born at Barss Corner, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Lawson and Idella (Eisnor) Wile. He was owner and operater of a trucking company until retirement. Surviving are his sisters, Lillian (Mrs. Mervyn Wile), Toronto; Iris (Mrs. Basil Wagner), Mildred (Mrs. Melvin Silver), Hemford; brother, Vernon, Hemford. Percy Raymond Veinot
After a short illness, Percy Raymond Veinot passed away on November 15, 1969 at New Westminister, B.C. where he had been visiting his daughter and son-inlaw, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lohnes. He was born at Upper Northfield in 1892, son of the late Noah and Ada (Mossman) Veinot. His wife, the former Mamie Eisnor predeceased him in 1953 and a son Wallace lost his life by drowning in 1950. He was also predeceased by his brother Roy and sister, Nora. Surviving are four daughters; Glenice (Mrs. Aseph Lohnes) Upper Northfield; Ferne (Mrs. Harold Zinck), West Northfield; Arlene (Mrs. Eugene Lohnes), British Columbia, and Gloria (Mrs. George Cunningham), New Germany and seven sons, Robert, Upper Northfield; Elmer, Roy and Dale, Ontario; George, Alberta; Gerald and Percy Jr., West Northfield, and by thirty-one grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The funeral service was held on Thursday afternoon from the Upper Northfield United Church of which he was a member, with the Rev. James Crooks officiating.
ZINCK, Margaret Loretta — 87, of Chelsea, passed away January 23, 2010, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Walden, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Susan (Joudrey) Zinck. She is survived by daughter, Marjorie; sons, Ambrose, Carl, Myles, Munroe, Graham, Donnie and Darrell; numerous grandchildren. She was predeceased by her companion, Granville Feener; son, Ronald. HILTZ, Eugene E. - Clearland, Lunenburg County, died April 19, 1993, in the Veteran's Unit of the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital. Born in New Cumberland, he was a son of the late Roy and Pearl (Himmelman) Hiltz. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the West Novies. He was a member of the Halifax Police Department and later owned and operated his own business in Dartmouth. He is survived by his wife, the former Gleniss (Kedy) Publicover; four daughters, Paula, Donna, Valerie, all of Saint John, N.B.; Heather, Brampton, Ont.; two stepdaughters, Carolyn, Jennifer, both of Vancouver; son, Gary, Bedford; several grandchildren. SPROULE, Olyn Percy - 88, Digby, passed away October 28, 2007, in Digby General Hospital. Born in Clementsvale, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late Fletcher and Harriett (Graves) Sproule. He was an Honorary Deacon and member of Digby United Baptist Church and also sang in the choir for many years. He was employed with Digby Dairy for 14 years and with Digby General Hospital for 15 years. He was a veteran of the Second World War. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Ruth (Leon) Graham, Brighton, Digby Co.; Patricia (Doug) Powell, Kingston, Kings Co.; Marilyn (Ronald) Stevenson, Middleton; chosen daughter, Lorraine, Mavillette, Digby Co.; sisters, Edith Read, Berwick; Elmerna Oickle and Beulah Chisholm, both of Digby; grandchildren, Cindy (Kevin) Hazel, Troy Stevenson (Taryn O'Brian), Tina (Harold) Wood, Stacey (Danielle) Powell, Kirk Powell; great-grandchildren, Shawn, Travis, Marissa, Xander; great great-grandchild, Kallum; Lorraine's four children and five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
