OICKLE, Franklin Ford - 78, Upper Cornwall, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2004, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. He drove for MacKenzie Bus Lines, Bridgewater, for over 31 years. He is survived by his sons, Richard (companion, Diane), Barry (Gretchen), Upper Cornwall; Wade (Debbie), Conquerall Mills; grandchildren, Amanda, Colin, Alicia, Laura and Stephen; brothers, Carroll, Floyd, Harris and Ellery, all of Ontario; sister, Faye, Halifax. He was predeceased by brothers, Glen, Maurice, Cyril and daughter-in-law, Marion. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Cremation has taken place and burial is to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

HUNTLEY, Madeline Sonya - 58, Scotts Bay, died June 19, 1995, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Hemford, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of Lois (Demone) Veinot, Hemford and the late Lauren Veinot. She had taught school at Scotts Bay and had been employed at Hillaton Foods for several years. Surviving are her husband, Paul; daughters, Janice (Mrs. Blaine MacBride), Pereaux; Debora Huntley, British Columbia; sons, Edward, Peter, Frederick, Scotts Bay; sister, Muriel (Mrs. Max Robinson), Pickering, Ont.; brothers, Clark, White River, Ont.; Merrill, Roderick, Ralph, Hemford; Craig, Simpsons Corner, Lunenburg Co.; three grandchildren. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Thursday, both in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville, Rev. Robin State-Taylor and Rev. Harold Thomas officiating. Private family burial in Scotts Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cystic Fibrosis, Nova Scotia chapter.

SARTY, Connie Lynn - 30, Auburndale, Lunenburg County, died August 14, 1992, at home. Born in Bridgewater, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of Mark and Juanita (Robar) Sarty. She is survived by two brothers, Daniel, Edwin, both of Bridgewater; three sisters, Gail (Mrs. Michael Veinot), Dayspring, Lunenburg County; Lisa (Mrs. Terry Green), Gold River, Lunenburg County; Janice, West Northfield, Lunenburg County; stepmother, Brenda Sarty, West Northfield; two stepbrothers, Kevin Eisnor, Kent Eisnor, both of West Northfield; paternal grandparents, David and Althea Sarty, North River, Lunenburg County; maternal grandmother, Althea Robar, Bridgewater. The body was cremated. A private family service will be at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Bridgewater Food Bank or any charity.

DAUPHINEE, Evans William - 83, Lower Northfield, died April 23, 1997, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Upper Northfield, he was a son of the late Arkanis and Eva Maude (Eikle) Dauphinee. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Aulenback; sons, Moyle, at home; Bruce, Farmville; Kenneth, Lower Northfield; daughter, Merna (Mrs. Moyle Rhodenizer), Auburndale; brothers, Bert, West Northfield; Donald, Upper LaHave; Lester, Midville Branch; four grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Owen, Albert, Malcolm, Harry, Wallace; sister, Carrie Joudrey. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, West Northfield, Rev. Robert Coote (minister in charge) officiating. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Family flowers only. Donations to St. Andrew's Anglican Church or any charity.

Herman Elsford Veinot
The death of Herman Veinot occurred on December 26, 2003 at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 89. He was the son of the late John and Clarissa Veinot of New Germany. Herman is survived by his wife Minnie (Jodrey) of 64 years, sons Carrol (Jacky), Gary (Mary) and Brian (Penny Lee), 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. As well as two sisters Ruby Feindel (George) and Dorothy Mosher (Carl) in New Germany, and many nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia. Herman was predeceased by brothers Stanley, Walter, Robert and sister Hazel.
A celebration of Herman's life was held on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at 10 a.m. in Klassen Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. Committal will take place in New Germany at a later date.
The family would like to thank all their relatives and friends in Nova Scotia who remembered them with sympathy cards, phone calls and donations. Also, thanks to sisters Ruby and Dorothy for the floral bouquet to the family. All was greatly appreciated.

JODREY, Thelma Marie - 67, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., died March 18, 1995, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at Meiseners Section, she was a daughter of Sadie F. (Deal) Oickle, New Germany and the late Sinclair David Oickle. She was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. She had writtren many pieces of poetry, some of which where pertinent to the Second World War and were published in the local newspaper. She had an avid interest in wildlife. Surviving are her husband, Clarence Sr.; son, Kent, Branch LaHave; sisters, Audrey (Mrs. Winton Russell), New Germany; Marcella (Mrs. Fred Oickle), Riverview N.B.; a granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, Clarence Jr., Derek; two brothers in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. tonight in New Germany Funeral Home, 4895 Rt. 10, New Germany. Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, Rev. Peter Armstrong officiating. Burial in church cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations to New Germany and Area Medical Centre, South Shore Regional Hospital or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

DANIELS, CLIFFORD GORDON - 79, North River, Lunenburg County, died August 2, 1992, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, he was a son of the late Edward and Cora (Acker) Daniels. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River. He is survived by his wife, the former Elsie Elizabeth Robar; two daughters, Edna (Mrs. Willis Dorey), Maplewood; Phyllis (Mrs. Arnold Meisner), Lake Centre; two sons, Merle, Pleasantville; Lester, North River; two sisters, Bernice (Mrs. Roger Daniels), Gertrude Robar, both of North River; three brothers, Cecil, Leslie, Reginald, all of North River; 10 grand- children; 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandchild; two sons, Ivan, Marshall; three sisters, Ashley, Grace, Amy; two brothers, Vernon, Ray. The body is in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rev. Robert Robb officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

VEINOT, Ralph Terrill - 54, Hemford, Lunenburg Co., died suddenly January 21, 2003, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Lauren and Lois Belle (Deamone) Veinot. Ralph was an avid sports fan, and in his younger years an avid athlete. He was a generous, good hearted, loving person, who will be missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and wit, his love for children and his strong family values. He had an appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He was a self-employed carpenter. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Deveau; sons, Jeffrey, Ontario; Joseph, Hemford; Justin, Bridgewater; sister, Muriel (Max) Robinson, Ontario; brothers, Merrill (Carol), Roderick, all of Hemford; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Madeline; brother, Clark. No visitation in the funeral home. Memorial service 1 p.m. Saturday in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Linda Kuschnik officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the IWK Health Centre, Oncology Floor, Hemophilia Society or a charity of your choice.

WENTZELL, Edith Marion - 85, Dayspring, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, in Harbour View Haven, Lunenburg, after a lengthy illness. She was a daughter of the late Percy and Ellen (Jodrey) Oickle of Stanburne. Edith was a kind and loving mother who was always willing and ready to help her family and others, in any way. She loved her pets, and very much enjoyed knitting, quilting and had a green thumb, which could be seen in her beautiful house plants and flower garden. She worked at Michelin Tire in Bridgewater for 11 years. Edith is survived by daughters, Marion Carver (William), Nineveh; Marina Snyder, New Germany; sons, Lester (Pat), New Germany; Blaine (Celeste), Middle New Cornwall; Burton (Lisa), Dayspring; grandchildren, Marlon Wentzell, Watford; Lorie (Bruce) Rhodenizer, Wentzell Lake; Julie (Jeff) Picard, Newbury, Mass.; Nancy and Heidi Snyder, Dartmouth; Larry Wentzell, Midville Branch; Rebekah and Fenton Thompson; great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Nicholas Wentzell, Nathan Picard, Ashley and Lawrence Rhodenizer. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Joyce Oickle, Audrey Wentzell, Elaine McCarthy, Florence Wright, and brother-in-law, Kendall (Phyllis) Mosher. She was predeceased by infant son, Laurie; sister, Madeline Bassett; brothers, Kendall and Arnold; sister-in-law, Minola Mosher; brothers-in-law, Chester Bassett, Burpee and Dolan Wentzell. Edith will be always loved and greatly missed by her family and many friends. Cremation has taken place under the direction of R. A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. Private family interment will follow at a later date. No visitation or flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or charity of choice.

MOSHER, Harriet Agnes - 95, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., passed away Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, where she had been a resident for 14 years. Born in Nineveh, she was a daughter of the late George and Alenetha (Lohnes) Mailman. She was a member of Epworth United Church, New Germany and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her sons, Bliss (Madeline) Mosher, Brewster Mosher, both of New Germany; grandchildren, Barry, Wayne, Kenneth, Tina, Arnold and George; great- grandchildren, Lauren, Kathleen, James, Crystal, and Adam. She was predeceased by her husband, Randall; one sister and two brothers. No visitation by request. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today in Epworth United Church Cemetery, New Germany, Linda Kuschnik officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Rosedale Home for Special Care. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany.

VEINOT, Robert Vincent - 81, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., died September 1, 1998, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born September 16, 1916, in Harmony Mills, Queens Co., he was a son of the late John and Classie (Frail) Veinot. He was a member of Epworth United Church, New Germany, and Rosedale New Horizons Senior Citizens Club. Prior to retirement, Robert worked for various companies within the New Germany area. Robert especially enjoyed salmon fishing at the eddy on the Lahave River, where he made many friends. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Audrey Mosher; daughter, Sherilyn Barry and husband Everett, New Germany; son, Robert Jr. (Bob), Halifax; grandchildren, Craig Barry and wife Angie, Paul Barry and wife JoAnne, Lisa Langley and husband Bev, Darren Veinot and wife Marlene; great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Alana and Caleb Barry, Jonah and Gracen Langley, Danika and Cody Veinot; brother, Herman and wife Minnie, Winnipeg; sisters, Dorothy Mosher and husband Carl, Ruby Feindel and husband George, all of New Germany; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Stanley, Walter; sister, Hazel; grandson, Derek; niece, Marion. Family will receive visitors in New Germany Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany, from 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Epworth United Church, New Germany, Rev. Perley Tidd officiating. Burial will be in Epworth United Church Cemetery, New Germany. A reception will follow in the church hall. Flowers from the immediate family only. Born in Maders Cove, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late George Enos and Effie (Ramey) Hamm. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, Union Church, Hemford. Surviving are niece, Carol Knickle, Lunenburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Mailman; sister, Ruby; brother, Bernard. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, funeral 11 a.m. Monday, both in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, Rev. Ted Heinze officiating. Burial in Hemford Community Cemetery, Hemford. JOUDREY, Susan Alberta - 40, Maitland, Lunenburg County, died July 24, 1993, in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in Chelsea, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late George and Hilda (Zinck) Weagle. She is survived by her husband, Ivan; two daughters, Jane, Kathy, both at home; two sons, St. Clair, Steven, both at home; three brothers, Fred, Danesville, Queens County; Earl, Chelsea; Douglas, Middle La Have; sister, Carolyn (Mrs. Roland Burgoyne), Cherryfield; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Linda Macdonald officiating. LOHNES, Claude Hector - 87, North Brookfield, Queens Co., passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in South Shore Regional Hospital, with his family by his side. Born in Gowganda, Ont., he was a son of the late Lester and Elsie (Veinot) Lohnes. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Claude was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas in England, Italy, Sicily, France and Holland. He worked in the woods in his younger years, then for Maritime Well Drilling, where he spent a number of years before finally going to work with the Department of Highways, from where he retired. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 87, Caledonia, and also a member of the Royal Arch, Rossignal Chapter and a Past Grandmaster of the Masonic Lodge, Caledonia. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He is survived by daughter, Kathryn Stevenson, North Brookfield; sons, Barrie (Tina), Barss Corner; Terry (Joanne), North Brookfield; Mitchel (Sherry), Stainer, Ont.; Murray (Ann), Caledonia; grandchildren, Cory, Carrie, David, Timothy, Kelly, Nickolas, Leah, Cortney, Sarah-Jean, Claudia; great-grandchildren, Devlyn, Dustyn, Abby, Braden, Reece; sisters, Melvia Fancy, North Brookfield, and Arvilla Walker, New Ross. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean; sisters, Sylvia, Elsie; brothers, Rex, Warren, Lester; a sister in infancy, and a brother in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9, at 2 p.m. in Rosette Cemetery, North Brookfield, Rev. Marilyn Rose officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia, Canadian Cancer Society or North Queens Volunteer Fire Department.

PATTINGALE, Gladys Muriel — 92, Mahone Nursing Home, died February 3, 2010, in the home. "Nanny Bow" as her family and many friends affectionately called her, was born in Maplewood, Lunenburg Co., a daughter of Owen and Clara (Milbury) Foster. Gladys is survived by her daughters, Rosemarie (Paul) Keddy, Clearland; Faye Wilneff and Linda MacInnis (Leo Frank), Bridgewater; her sister, Ruby Hubley, Mahone Bay; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, James and her companion, Aldon Schnare; her sisters, Venetia, Erdena, Bessie, Charlotte, Elossie and Jessie; brothers, Gordon, Henry and Fred. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service and committal will be held in Bayview Cemetery, Chester. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to Mahone Bay United Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Davis Funeral Home, Chester.
