Belle Evelyn Oickle, 88, North River, Lunenburg County, died Friday, May 4, 2001, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel MacDonald and Ella (Kaiser) MacDonald. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North River and a past member of the Hope Club, North River. She is survived by daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Cecil Tanner), North River; Betty (Mrs. Everett Demone), both of North River; Lillian (Mrs. Mervin Mailman), Springfield; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Lovey (Mrs. Frederick Chambers), Springfield; Eva Torter, Cleveland, Ohio; brother, Sam MacDonald, Cherryfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Whitford Oickle; two sisters and four brothers. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany where visiting hours will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service to be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River, Rev. James Slack, Jr., officiating. Burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, North River. Donations may be made to South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation. Flowers from immediate family only.

VEINOT, Bessie Dena - 90, Union Square, Lunenburg Co., died August 15, 1998, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Union Square, she was a daughter of the late Titus and Jennetta (Nettie)(MacKay) Wagner. Surviving are daughters, Sylvia (Mrs. Theodore MacKay), Union Square; Venita (Mrs. Moyle Naas), Barss Corner; sons, Merle, Union Square; Sherman, Halifax; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell; daughter, Marlene; son, Murray; sisters, Lila, Lena; brothers Lloyd, Loris. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday, in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Union Square. Burial in Union Square Cemetery. Donations to St. Paul's Anglican Church, Union Square, or Union Square Cemetery.

Mr. Forman Oickle, age 79, of Upper Cornwall, Lunenburg County, passed away at the Dawson Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 11th, 1970.
Born at Upper Cornwall, Mr. Oickle was the son of the late Steven and Eliza (Lowe) Oickle.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lyle Beeler; nine children, Carol, Cyril, Floyd, Harris, and Ellery of Ontario; Glen of Berwick; Maurice and Franklin of Cornwall; Faye (Mrs. Lindsay McGinnis) of Chester; 22 grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Bessie Fancy of Falmouth, Hants County.
The funeral was held on Saturday, November 14th, from the Union Church at Upper Cornwall. Rev.James Crooks officiated, assisted by Rev.Eric Miner. Interment was in the Union Square Cemetery. Pallbearers were Guy Joudrey, Eugene MacKay, Basil Joudrey, Gilbert Veinotte, Frank Fancey, and George DeMond.

Mrs. Charlotte Silver
The death occurred on Friday, May 15th, 1970 at the D.M. Hospital of Mrs. Charlotte Silver, Lower Northfield, after a short illness, at the age of 57. Born in Stanburne, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Eva (Veinot) Veinot.
Surviving are her husband and three daughters, Lena (Mrs. Stanley Bruhm), West Northfield; Jean, Ontario; Susan, Lower Northfield; and one son, Carmon, Union Square and twelve grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Frances Feener, Farmington; Roxie (Mrs. Anzil Whynot), New Germany; Zelda (Mrs. Reginald Oickle), Massachusetts; Rheba, Wentzell's Lake; six brothers, Russell and Donald, Union Square; Keith, Max, Percy, Wentzell's Lake; and Perry, West Northfield; one brother, Cameron, predeceased her.
Funeral service was held from Langille's Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Tubbe officiating.
Pallbearers were Keith, Max, Perry, Percy, Lowell Veinot and Lawrence Feener.
Interment was in Maitland Cemetery.

Samuel "Sammy" MacDonald - 85 of Cherryfield, Lunenburg Co. passed away Friday July 3, 2009 at home. Born in Meisnors Section Lunenburg Co., he was the son of the late Samuel and Ella (Kaizer) MacDonald. He is survived by his 2nd wife Goldie (Robar); Step-daughters Myrtle (Thomas Jaques); Linda (Heinzman); Elaine (Rod Acker); Evelyene (Bobby); Step-sons John (Betty-Ann Robar); Leroy and many grand-children and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Phyllis and Step-daughter Iona (Fraser). There will be no visitation by request. A private family graveside service will be held in Epworth Cemetery, New Germany at a later date, Rev. Larry Ehrhardt officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.

WOLFE-ROBAR, Althea Ruth - 90, Hebbs Cross, formerly of North River, passed away in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, Monday, February 16, 2004. Born in Dublin Shore, she was a daughter of the late James and Eva (Croft) Publicover. She was a school teacher for her working career and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River, where she was organist for about 30 years. She is survived by her sons, Mervin (Muriel), Hebbs Cross; James (Gail), Springfield; Richard, California; Allister (Susan), North River; daughters, Juanita Sarty, Bridgewater; Carolyn (Archie) Levy, Scarborough, Ont.; Helen (Larry) Woodsworth, New Minas; Beulah (Eddie) Jollimore, Liverpool; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Margaret Stevens, Aylesford; many step-grandchildren; sister, Marie Phalen; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Rufus Robar; granddaughters, Connie Sarty and Gail Veinot; second husband, Mark Wolfe; stepdaughter, Vera Langille. Visiting for family and friends will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Rte. 10, New Germany. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River, Rev. Larry Erhardt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or a charity of choice.

Laurie Wilfred Acker - Lake Pleasant, Annapolis County - Laurie Wilfred Acker passed away suddenly on September 23 1987. Born in Lake Pleasant, Annapolis County, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Lois (Robar) Acker. He is survived by two sisters, Laura (Mrs. George Swallow), Falkland Ridge; and Goldie (Mrs. Samuel MacDonald), Cherryfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother William. Funeral service was held on September 24 at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, with Pastor R Weaver of the Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery, North River.

FEENER, Lawerance Alden - 79, Farmington, Lunenburg Co., passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Farmington, he was a son of the late Mark and Frances (Veinot) Feener. He was a retired long-time employee of Bowater Mersey Paper Company. Surviving are his sister, Claire (Douglas) Morton, Barss Corner; brothers, Raeburn (Margaret) Feener, West Northfield; Robert, Farmington; several cousins, aunts, uncles, several nieces and a nephew and their families, that he was very fond of. No visitation by request. Service 2 p.m. Thursday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Rte. 10, New Germany, Rev. Larry Erhardt officiating. Private family interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, New Germany. Family flowers only, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

ROBAR, Laura Lavinia - 82, North River, Lunenburg County, died June 16, 1993, in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born in North River, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Bessie (Acker) Robar. She is survived by a son, Russell, North River; three grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ellis; daughter, Shirley; four brothers, Leander, Wilfred, Rufus, Leon; sister, Nora. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River, Rev. Robert Robb officiating. Burial will be in North River Cemetery. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River.

NAAS, Troy Patrick - 24, Newburne, died August 22, 1994, at home. Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of Paul A. and Kathleen V. (Zinck) Naas. He was a member of the PC party and was an avid hockey fan. He is survived by two brothers, Brent, Walden; Kelly, Pleasantville. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Dennis and Grace (Joudrey) Naas; maternal grandparents, Samual and Marguerite (Joudrey) Zinck. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Transfiguration Anglican Church, Newburne, Rev. John Pearce officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Newburne. Donations may be made to Transfiguration Anglican Church or any charity.

NOWE, Sherman Millage - 53, Lunenburg, died May 17, 1998, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lunenburg, he was the son of the late Spurgeon and Phyllis (Zinck) Nowe. He worked at National Sea Products, Lunenburg division, until his retirement. He was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his companion, Mary Fogg; several aunts, an uncle and several cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Irene. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday, both in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Rev. Robyn Brown Hewitt officiating. Burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. Family flowers only. Donations to The Lung Association of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association, Fishermen's Memorial Hospital or South Shore Regional Hospital.

Mary E. Rafuse
On Saturday, July 24, 1982, Mary Eldora Rafuse, 90, died peacefully at the Dawson Memorial Hospital.Born in New Cornwall, Lunenburg County, November 22, 1891, she was the former Mary Frank, a daughter of the late David and Angeline (Veinot) Frank.She is survived by her husband, Elgin; one daughter, Glennie (Mrs.Regianld DeLong), New Germany; one son, Leland Wentzell, Maplewood; one stepson, Errol Wentzell, Rangley, Maine; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.She was predeceased by her first husband, Ira Wentzell in 1946; three sisters and four brothers.She was a woman of very deep Christian ideals and was always putting other people before herself. She was a faithful member of the Barss Corner United Baptist Church and supported various church organizations.The funeral service was held on Tuesday afternoon, July 27, 1982 from the Barss Corner Baptist Church with Rev. Malcolm Beckett officiating. Interment ws in Parkdale-Maplewood Cemetery.
