MYRA, Stella Elizabeth - 72, Gold River, died October 2, 1993, in East River as the result of a motor vechicle accident. Born in Gold River, she was a daughter of the late Elijah and Lottie (Veinotte) Kaizer. She is survived by four sons, Basil Jr., Wade, both of Gold River; Darrell, Chester; Dale, Beechill Road; daughter, Gail Naas, Garden Lots; five brothers, Clarence, Melbourne, Clemmeth, all of Gold River; Basil, Walden; Robert, Toronto; five sisters, Hazel Zwicker, Whynotts Settlement; Meriel Kaizer, Pleasantville; Lailah Johnson, Gold River; Mary (Mrs. Edward Peters), Toronto; Myrtle (Mrs. Ross Wilnoff), Queensland; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jeanette; four brothers, Ainsley, Maynard, James, one in infancy; two sisters, Kathleen, Eileen; a grandson. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Robert Hatt officiating. Burial will be in Western Shore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity.

ROBAR, Nellie Mae — 94, Meisners Section, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at home. Born in New Germany, she was a daughter of the late Sanford and Ada (Feindel) Deal. She was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, where she was an active member of the former ACW and altar guild. Nellie lived all her life in Meisners Section, where she enjoyed living next door to her son and daughter and their families. In her younger years, she was an avid seamstress, having taught the craft of sewing to many and later was a sewer for Suttles and Seawinds Ltd. Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn (Ron) Seney, Meisners Section; son, Foard (Catherine) Robar, Meisners Section; sister, Evelyn Deal, Meisners Section; grandchildren, Garth (Linda) Blades, Cathy (Maynard) Wilson, Beth (Michael) Deamond, all of Meisners Section; Mark (Mandi) Robar, Kingston; Sarah Robar, Halifax; John (Larysa-Lynn) Robar, Saskatchewan; great- grandchildren, Megan, Mallory, Tyler, Kade, Gavin, Jay, Timothy, Haley, Kelsey, Makena, Korden; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Foard Robar Sr.; second husband, Everette Robar; two children in infancy; sisters, Sadie Oickle, Viola Silver, Minnie Sarty; brothers, Archibald Deal, Gordon Deal. No visitation in the funeral home by request. Funeral 1 p.m. Monday, December 28, in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, Rev. Catherine Robar officiating assisted by Janet Tipert. A reception will follow in the church hall. A private family interment in the church cemetery. SWALLOW, George Robert- 89, Falkland Ridge, Annapolis County, died July 25, 1992, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Falkland Ridge, he was a son of the late Robert and Elgena (Fletcher) Swallow. He was a member of United Baptist Church, Falkland Ridge. He is survived by his wife, the former Laura Mae Acker. He was predeceased by two sisters, Christine, Ruth; brother, Willard. The body is in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in United Baptist Church, Rev. Gerald Zinck officiating. Burial will be in Falkland Ridge Cemetery. Donations may be made to Valley Regional Hospital.

ROBAR, Luther Leroy - 44, New Germany, died March 1, 1994, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in North River, Lunenburg County, he was a son of the late Edwin J. and Amy L. (Daniels) Robar. He was employed with Bowater Mersey Paper Company as a machine operator, and was a past employee with the City of Dartmouth. He is survived by his wife, the former Lucille Zinck; son, Neil, at home; five sisters, Judith (Mrs. Paul Robar), Marion (Mrs. William Daniels), Lila Sproule, all of North River, Joan (Mrs. Guy Sproule), Lake Pleasant, Annapolis County; Monica (Mrs. Charles Zinck), Chicago, Ill.; four brothers, Vincent, Bernie, both of North River; Delbert, Hastings, Annapolis County; Nelson, Conquerall Banks; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in New Germany Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Robert Robb officiating. Cremation to follow. Immediate family flowers only. Donations may be made to New Germany and Area Medical Centre, Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.

VEINOTTE, Charles A. - 74, Upper Cornwall, Lunenburg County, died January 31, 1994, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Upper Cornwall, he was a son of the late Charles B. and May (Varner) Veinotte. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Edith Barkhouse, Blockhouse; Lois (Mrs. Jack Garside), Watford, Ont.; Mildred (Mrs. Albert Orton), Mabel Veinotte, both of Upper Cornwall; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ernest, Murray, one in infancy. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Richard Firth officiating. Burial will be in Upper Cornwall Cemetery. Donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association.

RIOUX, Christopher Charles - 22, Lower Sackville, formerly of Bridgewater, passed away October 10, 2005, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Ontario on August 29, 1983, he was a son of Kathryn (Ling) Rioux of Bridgewater and the late James Rioux. He lived in Nova Scotia most of his life and was outgoing, energetic, one of a kind person who always put everyone else before himself. Besides his mother, he is survived by his common-law wife, Tara; son, Dominique; brothers, Darrell (Nicole), Dustin (Karen), James Jr. (Krista); foster parents, Ardyth and Ervin Veinot, and several foster brothers and sisters; two nieces and one nephew; maternal grandparents, Lois and Ron Knoll. Besides his father, he was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Leona and Lenus Rioux; nephews, Jacob and Samuel; foster brother, Joey Veinot. Visitation will be held today from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater, and from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. No flowers by request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an Educational Trust Fund for his son Dominique; Lung Association of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice.

VEINOT, Ronald Leon - 79, Lake Pleasant. Born in New Albany, he was a son of the late Clyde and Emma Veinot. Left to mourn are his wife, Eileen LaVerne Varner; son, Eric (Leslie), Dwayne, Ryan (Andrea) of Halifax; daughter, Ann (Chester), Wendell (Ann), and Matthew, Terry and Jesse, Springfield; daughter, Bonnie (Donnie), Stephanie, Teresa (Rob) and Spencer, Ben, British Columbia; son, Paul (Marsha), Greg (Kim), Marissa and Mitchell, Jody (Alissa), Springfield; son, Ace (Colleen), Patrick, Thomas, Andrew of Lake Pleasant; son, Jeff (Annette), Deanna, Rebecca; brothers, Vernon, North River; Raymond, Halifax, and sister, Agnes, Middleton. Ronald was a veteran of the Second World War and a founding and lifelong member of the Springfield Fire Department. He was a member of the United Church of New Albany. He was predeceased by great-grandson, Christopher. No funeral service will be held by request of the family. ZWICKER, Hazel M. - 85, Whynott Settlement, Lunenburg Co., died January 2, 1995, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at Gold River, she was a daughter of the late Elijah and Lottie (Veinot) Kaizer. Surviving are companion, Edison Robar; sons, Donald, Yarmouth; Paul, Mervin, Dayspring; Joe, Oak Hill; Clary, Upper Cornwall; Darrell, Hebbs Cross; daughters, Marguerite (Mrs. Charles Whynot), Maders Cove; Evangeline (Mrs. Earl Bolivar), Bridgewater; Joan (Mrs. Fred Robar Sr.), Oak Hill; brothers, Robert, Ontario; Basil, Walden; Clarence, Clements, Melbourne, Gold River; sisters, Merle Kaizer, Pleasantville; Mary Peters, Alberta; Lalia Johnson, Chester Grand; Myrtle Wilneff, Black Point; 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin; three brothers; three sisters; grandsons, Troy, Blaine. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, Rev. John Clarke officiating. Burial in Whynott Settlement Cemetery. Family flowers only. VEINOT, R. Garnet - 78, New Albany. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, R. Garnet Veinot, on April 20, 2006, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born in New Albany, he was a son of the late Leon and Annie (Medicraft) Veinot. Garnet grew up in New Albany, working first for his father in the lumbering industry and in later years owned and operated Garnet Veinot Logging. In his retirement years, Garnet had a passion for gardening and socializing with family and friends. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Bob) Keith, Hammonds Plains; Karen, Melvern Square; Vicki (Wayne) Deveau, Wilmot; sons, Randall "Butch" (Cathleen), New Albany, and Jim (Ann), Nictaux; grandchildren, Brenda, Tanya, Angela, Kim, Brad, Brent, and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Rosamond Whitman; sisters, Lillian and Vivian; brothers, Robert, Clyde and Garfield "Mike". Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23, both in Middleton Funeral Home (902) 825-3448, Rev. Dr. Bill MacDougall officiating. Born in Lawrencetown, she was a daughter of the late Charles Victor and Lina (Saunders) Whitman. She was a member of Albany Community Church and an active member of the New Albany community. Surviving are her husband, Garnet; daughters, Patricia (Bob) Keith, Hammonds Plains; Karen Veinot, Wilmot; Vicki (Wayne) Deveau, Wilmot; sons, Randall "Butch" (Cathleen), New Albany; Jim (Ann) Veinot, Nictaux; sister, Betty Marshall, Barrie, Ont.; brother, Lloyd Whitman, Lawrencetown; grandchildren, Brenda, Tanya, Angela, Kimberly, Bradley, Brent; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Ryan, and Kayleigh. She was predeceased by sisters, Frances and Irene; brother, Charles "Bud". Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, both in Warren T. METZLER, Lulu Frances May - 100, Port Williams, formerly of Arlington, Kings Co., died October 29, 1995, at home. Born in Greenwich, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Annie Bell (Greene) Coleman. She resided in the Valley area all of her life. Surviving are sons, Clyde, Arlington; Ransford, Kentville; daughters, Kathleen (Mrs. Vagn Olsen), Moncton, N.B.; Irene (Mrs. Avery Hatt), Port Williams; Geraldine (Mrs. Reginald Baker), Fall River; sister, Mrs. Olive Strob, Wilmington, Mass., brother, George, Kentville; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 10 greatgreat-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick; a grandchild; brothers, Carl, Hugh, Milford, Joseph, LeRoy; sisters, Naomi Metzler, Vera Coughlin. Funeral 2 p.m. today in H.C. RAFUSE, Angie Alalia - 98, Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, formerly of Parkdale, Lunenburg Co., died February 10, 1999 in the home. Born in Morristown, she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie (Morse) Tupper. She was a member of Emmanuel United Baptist Church Parkdale Maplewood, where she was a past Sunday School teacher. She was a Dominion life Member of the Women's Missionary Society, and a member of the Parkdale Maplewood Community Museum. Surviving are daughters, Ardath Langille, Brooklyn, Annapolis Co.; Joyce Spidle, Parkdale; Evangeline (Mrs. John MacLeod), Cornwallis Park; sons, Hollis Pinehurst; John, New Germany; half-sister, Beatrice Dobbs, Brampton, Ont.; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richmond Reid Rafuse; sisters, Muriel Haines, Rosamond Tupper; brothers, Durward Tupper, Lormier Palmer. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, in New Germany Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany. Funeral 2:30 p.m. Friday in Emmanuel United Baptist Church, Parkdale Maplewood, Rev. ROBAR, Agnes Vida -86, Middleton, passed away Monday, November 24, 2008, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in New Albany, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Emma (Gates) Veinot. Agnes loved embroidery, knitting and going for drives. She loved her family dearly, especially all of her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Viola (Bernard) Umlah, Timberlea; Sheila Steadman; Sylvia Frank, both of Dartmouth; Carolyn (Barry) Gregg, Edmonton, Alta.; brother, Vernon Veinot, New Germany; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren, and best friend and good neighbour, Vaughn Lunn, Middleton. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Everett Steadman; second husband, Harold Robar; son, Murray in infancy; brothers, Ronald; Raymond and sister, Bessie in infancy. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 28, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. Interment will be in Nictaux Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.

FEINDELL, Miriam Maude - 82, Beaconsfield, Annapolis County, died November 4, 1993, in Annapolis General Hospital, Annapolis Royal. Born in Hamilton, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Rev. George and Bertie (Crowell) Durkee. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Nova Scotia schools for some 23 years. She was a graduate of Annapolis Royal High School and also attended Acadia University. She was a veteran of the Second World War, serving from 1939-45 as a sergeant at Rockcliffe Air Base in Ottawa. She was a member of Bridgetown United Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Herbert; brother, Harold, London, Ont.; a niece and a nephew. She was predeceased by an infant sister. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. today in Robert L. Hall Funeral Home, Bridgetown, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Dr. George Allen officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Annapolis General Hospital.
