Joan Kaulback, 62, of Oakland, passed away November 20, 1985, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Mahone Bay, she was a daughter of Mrs. Lillian (Hamm) Tanner, and the late Edward Tanner. She is survived by her mother, Lillian of Oakland; her husband, Earl of Oakland; a daughter, Elizabeth (Mrs. Gordon Lowe), Blockhouse; a son, James, Blockhouse; brothers, Paul of Oakland; Charles, Lunenburg; Donald, Kentville; Douglas, Wileville; David, Dayspring; and sister, Dianne, Calgary; two grandchildren, Gregory and Christopher. She was predeceased by a sister, Hope. Funeral service was held on Friday, November 22, 1985, in the Mahone Funeral Home, with Rev. Fred Snyder officiating. Interment was at the Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay. Hymns sung were "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "Abide With Me." Pallbearers were Robert Mader, Robert Eisenhauer, Andrew Hirtle, and David Kaulback.
Conrad, Delbert Carroll, - 68, Berwick, Kings County, passed away February 19, 2000, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville after a gallant struggle with cancer. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Whitford and Beatrice (Drew) Conrad. He was an employee of M W Graves Ltd. and Cobi Foods Ltd. for 48 years, retiting due to ill health. He was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church. Left to mourne his passing is his wife of 42 years, Yvonne (Veinotte) Conrad; son, Brian (Anna); grandsons, Thomas and Joel; brother, Carmen (Pauline); sisters, Faye (David) Thomas, Kelsey (Warren) Herman; half-brother, Marshall (Shirley) Drew, all of Berwick; half-sisters, Kay Capell, Kingston; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held today, February 21, from 2-4, 7-9 pm, with the funeral service 2 pm Tuesday, February 22, both in H C Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick, Rev. Margo MacDougall officiating. Burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations to the Kings County Branch of the VON would be greatly appreciated.
Percy Gray Jodrey, 85 years of Maplewood, pssed away November 6, 1987, at the South Shore Regional Hospital. Born at Maplewood, he was the son of the late Enos and Lucy (Taylor) Jodrey. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Wentzell); two sons, Medford and Lloyd, Maplewood; two daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Harold Beck) Newburne; Madelyn (Mrs. Alton Spidle), Parkdale; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Orlin; an infant daughter, Helen; a brother, George; and a sister, Nellie.
Funeral was 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Parkdale, Rev. Malcolm Beckett officiating. Burial was in Parkdale Cemetery.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family and a wide circle of friends.
SPROULE, Edward Clarence - 80, Lake Pleasant, Annapolis County, died November 12, 1992, in South Shore Regional Hospital. Born in Lake Pleasant, he was a son of the late Edward and Eliz- abeth (Conrad) Sproule. He worked as a dynamite man for the City of Dartmouth for seven years and was a member of Springfield United Baptist Church. He is survived by four daughters, Doris (Mrs. Gerald Arenburg), Springfield, Annapolis County; Joyce (Mrs. Douglas Aulenback), Dartmouth; Cheryl (Mrs. LeRoy Kaizer), Maitland; Anna (Mrs. Lawrence Sarty), Granville Beach, Annapolis County; three sons, Guy, Springfield; LeRoy, North River, Lunenburg County; Glenwood, Lake Centre, Lunenburg County; two sisters, Belle Charlton, Springfield; Amy Saunders, Dartmouth; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Verna Avaughn Moore; an infant daughter, May; son, Gerald; two infant sisters; three brothers, Walter, Murray, Ansel. The body is in Langilles Funeral Home, New Germany, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Springfield United Baptist Church, Rev. Gerald Zinck officiating. Jodrey, Guy M. - 75, Upper Cornwall, Lunenburg County, died Tuesday at home. Born in Upper Cornwall, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Ramey) Jodrey. He was a woodsman all his working life and a member of New Cornwall United Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Nauss; two daughters, Vivian (Mrs. Herschel Joudrey) Fauxburg; Virginia (Mrs. Douglas Hubley), Upper Cornwall; two sisters, Annie (Mrs. Brenton Lantz), Clearland; Mrs. Bernice Steadman, Berwick; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis; two brothers, Dennis and Wilfred. The body is in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in New Cornwall United Baptist Church, Rev. Dale Rose officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Winnie Victoria Ernst, 85, of First Peninsula, Lunenburg county, died Sunday in the Fishermen’s Memorial hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Maitland, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Esallirie(Aulenback) Langille. She was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg, and a former member of the Ladies' Aid and st.John's Social Club. She is survived by five daughters, Mary(Mrs. Lowell Veinot), Pinehurst, Lunenburg County; Eloise (Mrs. Inger Karlsen), Hamilton, Ont; Ivy (Mrs. Bruce Ramey), Caledonia, Ont; Doris, First south; Lucille Mosher, First South, Lunenburg County; four sons Cyril and John, First Peninsula; Herbert, Granenhurst, Ont; Winston, Peterborough, Ont; a brother, Selwyn, Blockhouse; 24 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, a son, Alton, five sisters and two brothers, two half-sisters and four half-brothers. The body is in Dana L. Sweeny's Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Funeral will be 2p.m. Wednesday in St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Bruce Howe officating. FEINDELL, Herbert Gray - 86, Beaconsfield, Annapolis Co., died February 18, 1999, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Bridgetown, he was a son of the late Charles and Bertha (Corlew) Feindell. He was involved in fox farming, was a woodsman for most of his life, and drove the rural mail for some 20 years in the Bridgetown area. He was a member of Bridgetown United Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are nephews, Marvin Feindell, Granville Centre; Beverly Feindell, King City, Ont.; nieces, Joyce Hall, Beaconsfield; Ruby Bent, Bridgetown; Gloria Williams, Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Miriam Maude Durkee; brothers, Florest, Arden, Roger; nephews, Charles, Newton. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Robert L. Hall Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bridgetown United Baptist Church, Rev. George Neily officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. Family flowers only. Honor Mary Rose (Crowe) Veinot, 76, formerly of Upper Northfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 14, 2005 at Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, NS.
Born in London, England, she was the daughter of Henry and Honor Crowe. She came to Canada as a young girl of 18 years, after WWII and married shortly thereafter to her husband, Robert of 47 years, who predeceased her in 1996. She was also predeceased by her parents and a sister some years ago. Her earlier years were spent being a homemaker and raising her family which she was quite content to do. Later years she and Robert were never happier than when surrounded by children. She is survived by daughter Linda, Toronto, Ont., Robert Jr. (Bob) (wife Diana), Woodstock, Ont., Wallace (wife Judy) Kentville, NS. Grandson Trevor Veinot Parkinson (Brandon, Man.) granddaughter Melanie Emigh (New York), two step-granddaughters, Annette Mader (New Germany, NS) and Denise Rees (London, Ont.) one step-grandson, Scott Veinot (Kentville, NS), several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and sisters and brothers-in-law. The remains rested at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service was held July 16, 2005 from Upper Northfield United Church with Rev. Joan Conrad officiating. Hymns sung were "Amazing Grace" and "God Will Take Care of You." Interment at Hillside Cemetery, Upper Northfield. Flowers were from the immediate family only. Memorial donations were made to Evergreen Home for Special Care, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Upper Northfield United Church.
Marion Jean Bruhm, 69, New Cornwall, died October 5, 1995, in MacKenzie, B.C. Born in Lynn, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Moyle and Elsie (Langille) Mader. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann (Mrs. Philip Stevens), Marriotts Cove; sons, James, Grand Cache, Alberta; Christopher, New Cornwall; daughter-in-law, Sharon Bruhm, Prince George, B.C.; brothers, Leroy, Sweetland; Robert, West Clifford; five grandchildren. KAIZER, Merle M. - Pleasantville, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully March 29, 2002, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Gold River, she was a daughter of the late Elijah Kaizer and Lottie (Pennell) Veinott. She is survived by sisters, Lailah Johnson, Chester Grant; Mary (Edward) Peters, Dayspring; Myrtle (Ross) Wilnoff, Queensland; brothers, Clemeth Gold River; Robert, Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews of whom, Paul Zwicker, Dayspring, she was especially close to. She was predeceased by brothers, Basil, James, Melbourne, Clarence, Ainsley, Maynard and one in infancy; sisters, Stella, Kathleen, Eileen and Hazel. A service will be held at a later date. SNYDER, Eileen Madelyn - 97, of New Minas, Kings Co., passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Simpson's Corner, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late John and Samantha (Ernst) Lowe. She was a member of the United Church of Canada and had been active with New Minas United Church. She was also involved with Canadian Red Cross and volunteered for several organizations. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Doris Snyder, New Minas; grandchildren, Murray, Vancouver; Cheryl (Richard) Veinot, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Jacqueline (Eric) Olsen, Waverly; James (Denise) Snyder, New Minas; great-grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Nathan and Breagh; great great-grandchildren, Jackson and Kinsley; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Milton Snyder. She was predeceased by her husband, Obie; sons, Frederick and Lew; seven sisters and five brothers. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, April 5, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service followed by a reception will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 6, Rev. David Hewitt officiating. At her request, a private family interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Halifax. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
