KEDDY, Shirley Kathleen - 67, Hebbs Cross, Lunenburg Co., died January 14, 2000, at home. Born in Conquerall Mills, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm and Ida (Veinot) Baker. She was a life member of Branch 24 of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and also a life member of the Hebbs Cross Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was an active member in the Calvary Lutheran Church, Middlewood. She was a very giving person to her community. Surviving are her husband, Burton; son, Blair, Petite Riviere; three grandchildren; sisters, Arlean Nowe, Lake Center; Marion Getson, Springfield; brother, Garfield Baker, Newcombville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Charles, Herbert; sister, Lillian "Jippie". No visitation in the funeral home by request. Born in North River, he was a son of the late Edward and Cora (Acker) Daniels. Cecil lived on the family homestead with his nephew, Ivan Daniels. Surviving are sisters, Bernice (Roger) Daniels, Gertrude Robar, both of North River; brothers, Leslie (Eva) Daniels, Reginald (Mildred) Daniels, both of North River, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Amy Robar; brothers, Clifford, and Vernon in infancy; half-brother, Ray, and half-sisters, Esther "Ashie", and Grace. ARMSTRONG, Avis Pearl - 71, Chester, died Monday, February 25, 2008, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in New Ross, she was the daughter of Noel and Pearl Anne (Broome) Crossley. Prior to ill health, Avis was active in many community projects and organizations. She was a member of Chester United Baptist Church and Ladies Auxiliary and taught Sunday school for a number of years. She served as secretary and past president of the Women's Institute, secretary for the Chester Garden Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of F.E. Butler Branch 44, Royal Canadian Legion. She was past member of the local association of brownies and girl guides and was a troop leader for a number of years and was also a member of the original commission that established the Lido. Avis was always interested in her community and was willing to help in any way she could. She enjoyed camping, square dancing, traveling and time spent with family and friends. A big part of her life was her 10 nieces and nephews from her extended family; her 23 great-nieces and nephews, and her special cousins. Avis is survived by her husband, Cyril; daughter, Daphne, Halifax; her brother, Wilbert, St. Catharines, Ont. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. RAMEY, Anita Catherine - Passed away peacefully in Windsor Elms, Windsor, on October 15, 2006. Born May 5, 1916, in Crousetown, Lunenburg Co., she had spent most of her life living and working in her community. She loved her family, her community and her church, and spent hours working on projects related to these interests. She was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 Women's Auxiliary and St. Andrews United Church, where for years she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She was widely-known and loved by many for her spirited conversation and lively sense of humour. She was an avid card player and one of the best doughnut makers in Atlantic Canada. She was predeceased by her husband, William Roy Ramey; brother, George Bollivar, and parents Gaius and Eleanor (Joudrey) Bollivar. She is survived by daughter, Patsy (Grant) Johnston, Ottawa; son, Gary (Deborah) Ramey, Hebbville; grandchildren, Tara-Lynn (Mark) Hughes, Oakville, Ont.; Tyler Johnston, Toronto; Stefan Ramey, Halifax; James Ramey, Hebbville; great-grandchildren, Logan and Alexa Hughes, Oakville. The family wishes to thank the staff of the South Shore Regional Hospital and of Windsor Elms Nursing Home for the care and treatment they provided to this special lady during the past few years.
