BENT (Marshall), Phyllis Eugenia - 85, of Lower Clarence, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving and caring family. Born in Beaconsfield, she was a daughter of the late Erle and Exhilda (Arsenault) Marshall. She will be sadly missed by daughters, Karene (Bob) Gray of Fredericton, N.B.; Marlene (Ernie) Deion of Meadowvale; Krista (Jeffrey) Smith of Dartmouth; son, Jeffrey (Linda) of Bridgetown; sister, Irene (Aubrey) Patriquin; brothers, Russell (Marylou), Wayne (Carol), Dwight (Judy); nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; son, Richard; brother, Roland. Mom enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, curling, lawn bowling and was a past member of the Bridgetown Baptist Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation will beheld 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. A celebration of Phyllis' life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Bridgetown Baptist Church with Bob Gray and Pastor Rob Laidlaw officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. A reception will follow in the church vestry. The family would like to thank the VON and the Palliative Care Support for the wonderful care they provided to Phyllis. SILVER, Carmen Lester - 69, passed away peacefully, December 28, 2005 at Southlake Regional Health Centre in New Market, Ontario, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes. Born in Barss Corner, Nova Scotia on February 14, 1936 he was the only son of the late Locke Silver. Although Carmen lived in Barss Corner, on Silver Hill Road, most of his life, in his later years he moved with his second wife, Judy, to New Market, Ontario. His heart and soul remained in Nova Scotia.Carmen was predeceased by his father Locke; his brother-in-law Gerald Garber; and granddaughter Chasity Ann Wentzell. He is survived by his wife, the former Judy Zinck; his five daughters, Irene (Vernon), Bridgewater; Maryanne (Myles), Moncton; Ivy (Tommy), Bridgewater; Nancy (Greg) Rhodes Corner; Donna (Neil), Rhodes Corner; his two sons, Byron (Stephen) Toronto and Chris (Christina) Tatamagouche. He is also survived by his two sisters, Jean, London, Ontario and Lena (Stanley), West Northfield, his many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and stepchildren (Kevin, Clifford, Loretta and Roseanne and step-grandchildren). Carmen was a wonderful friend who would do anything for anyone who needed his help. He loved to watch wrestling, talk and visit with old friends down home. When a child walked in the room, his beautiful blue eyes danced with warmth and love. It was difficult, in the later years, for him to play but he still became a child himself each and every time one came by for a visit, often taking them for rides on his scooter.Carmen is in a better place now and finally resting comfortably, for that his family is thankful. Dad, you will be missed and thought of fondly. God bless you! A memorial service will be held at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Upper Northfield on January 20, 2006 at 11 a.m., so that his family and friends have a chance to pay their final respects. ROBAR, Mary Gertrude - 92, North River, Lunenburg Co., passed away Friday, February 8, 2002, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Annabelle (Robar) Sarty. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River, where she was a past Sunday school teacher, organist and choir member. She was also a past member of the North River Ladies Aid. Surviving are her daughters, Ruth (Vernon) Veinot, New Germany; Esther Robar, Janet (Donald) Doucette, North River; Florence (Merlin) Acker, Bridgewater; sons, Marcus Robar, Paul (Judy) Robar, North River; sister, Vivian (Robert) Frank, Brickton; brother, Paul (Frances) Sarty, North River; grandchildren, Michael, Peter and Mervin Veinot, Mary Frank, Garth Acker, Angela Doucette, Nadine Weagle, Alan Robar, Sally Demone, Stephanie Robar, Scott Doucette; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Robar; sisters, Elsie Robar, Gladys Acker, Alice Crouse, Lillian Acker, Blanche Meisner, Sadie Crouse, Elva Sarty, Minnie Demone, Florence in infancy; brothers, Doran Sarty, David Sarty, Mark Sarty, Fred Sarty; grandsons, Stanley Veinot, Adam Doucette. Lewis John Veinot
The community of Hemford was saddened to hear of the passing of Lewis Veinot at his home on Thursday, March 31st, 1960. He ws in failing health for the last two years and was tenderly cared for by his wife until the last. He was 74 years 4 months of age. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a friend to all. He will be greatly misssed by everyone. He was ready and willing to help others in any way. He was a faithful member of the Baptist Church. He was twice married. His first wife was the former Fannie Zinck, who predeceased him many years ago. Later he married Ruby Smith.
Surviving besides his sorrowing wife are four sons, Hennigar and Harry at Hemford; Lester, at home; Guilford at Nineveh; and a daughter, Cassie (Mrs. Lemage Ramey) of New Germany; by his first marriage. There are four step-children, Wallace, Spryfield; Roy and Arthur, Bridgewater; Freda (Mrs. Wilbert Uhlman) of Chelsea; three sisters, Maude(Mrs. Adrian Brown), U.S.A.; Jane (Mrs. Ingram Wentzell), Baker's Settlement; Sadie (Mrs.Stockman), Halifax; one brother, Maurice, at Hemford.
The funeral service was largely attended by friends from far and near at Hemford in the Union Church on Sunday at 3 p.m. with Lic. Stewart MacLearn officiating. Interment was at the Hemford Cemetery. Hymns sung were "face to Face, " "Jesus Saviour, Pilot Me, " and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." The pall bearers were Roland Smith, Bazil Wagner, Eugene Veinot, Percy Hirtle, Milton Snyder, and Doran Snyder.
PENNEY, Clifford Archibald - 88, Upper Northfield, died January 29, 1998, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Upper Northfield, he was a son of the late Archibald and Lois (Morton) Penney. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Upper North-field. Surviving are his wife, the former Evelyn Veinot; son, Gary, Upper Northfield; brothers, Victor, Eastern Passage; Gilbert, Upper North-field; sisters, Mrs. Mabel Slauenwhite, Ontario; Mrs. Margaret Spidle, Barss Corner; three grandchildren. EISNOR, Ruby Mae - 81, Grandview Manor, Berwick, formerly of North River, Lunenburg Co., passed away suddenly in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, on Saturday, November 13, 2004. Born in North River on May 25, 1923, she was the oldest daughter of the late Roy and Winifred (Daniels) Robar. ZINCK, Percy Kenneth - 79, Blockhouse, Lunenburg Co., died Thursday, July 3, 1997, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lower Northfield, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of Mrs. Beatrice Ramey, Lower Northfield. He was a retired employee of Bowater Mersey Paper Co., National Sea Products and Lunenburg County District School Board as a school bus driver. Surviving are his wife, the former Verda Marguerite Bruhm; daughters, Cheryl Lauraine (Mrs. Thomas Harris), Lower Sackville; Gayle Elaine (Mrs. William Thomas), Blockhouse; grandchildren, Joni Lee Noel, Jarrod Gregory William Thomas, Rebecca Suzanne Harris, Allison Corinne Harris; several nieces and nephews.

VEINOT, Ross Raymond - 78, Barss Corner, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2007, in Queen's General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Upper Northfield, he was a son of the late Willis and Anna (Bruhm) Veinot. Surviving are his companion of 59 years, Jean Eisnor, Barss Corner; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Evelyn Penney, Lorna in infancy. There will be no visitation at the funeral by request. A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany, Rev. Nancy Price officiating. Private interment in Indian Brook Cemetery, Barss Corner. Aalders, Harry Benjamin-- 83, Berwick, formerly of Aalderville, Lunenburg Co., died May 14, 1997, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Aalderville, he was a son of the late Henry and Bessie (Veinot) Aalders. At the age of 16, he took over his father's business of logging and apple barrel manufacturing and trucking. He later enlarged the business with a sawmill and manufactured lumber lathes and shingles. He later purchased a large farm in Forest Home and moved his operation there, where he continued to work until an accident forced him to retire. He lived in New Minas for a number of years. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife, the former Faye Walker; daughters, Harriett Cox, Barbara Aalders, Kentville; Marjorie Leopold. Audrey Carter, New Minas; Lynda Grant, Stewiacke; Viola McInnis, English Mountain, Kings Co.; Marie Hatfield, Brookfield; Ruby Welton, South Alton; sons, Russell, Chipman Brook, Kings Co.; Harry Jr., Forest Home, Kings Co.; Donald, Kentville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lester Veinotte; nephew, Frederick Westhaver. Born April 13, 1913, in Maplewood, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late John Amos and Ida (Beck) Wentzell. Sadie was a loving, hard working wife and mother who devoted her life to her family. She is survived by sons, Douglas, Coombs, B.C.; Gerald, Coldbrook; Ronald, Port Alberni, B.C.; Leo, Trail, B.C.; stepson, Whiley, Dartmouth; daughters, Joan (Mike) Mahavolic, Port Alberni, B.C.; Joy (Richard) Walsh, Aylesford; Madelyn Wiles, Prospect Road, Morristown; Marilyn (Allan) Teal, Trenton, Ont., and Freda, Waterville; stepdaughter, Pauline Rydberg, Winnipeg, Man.; 41 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Douglas, Newburne, Lunenburg Co., and Clyde, Walkerton, Ont.
