Shirley Bishop
(October 30, 1951 - August 26, 2011)

Shirley Marie Bishop, 59 of Amherst, NS and formerly of Bathurst, NB passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on August 26th, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Lorne, NB on Oct 30th, 1951 she was the youngest daughter of the late John F. and Marie (Godin) Lapointe.

Shirley will be sadly missed by her husband of thirty-seven years, Don, son Gregory; daughter-in-law, Tracy; and her granddaughter Brooklyn, all of Amherst. She is survived by her sisters Jeanette and Lorraine, brothers Leonard, Lawrence and Norbert and sister-in-laws Frances and Linda from Northern New Brunswick. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She will also be missed by her favorite terrier, Scottie.

She is pre-deceased by two brothers¸ Emery and Romeo.

Shirley enjoyed children, gardening and travel and found happiness in helping friends and neighbours.

She enjoyed music and was an avid guitar player in her youth.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Family Church, St. Peter Avenue, Bathurst, NB, Fr. Culligan officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery, Nash Creek, New Brunswick at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Drs. C. Atkinson, K. Bienkowski and the Palliative support staff of the CRHC, Amherst, NS for the attention and professional care provided during her final days with us.

We also wish to thank Drs. Rejean Savoie and R. Ghedira at the Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Oncology Department, Moncton, NB for their care and compassion during the past two years.

Mary Hicks
(August 27, 1923 - September 28, 2011)

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Mary Theresa Hicks (nee Burke), 88 years old, on September 28th, 2011 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

She was born in Joggins on August 27, 1923 to the late Simon and Helen (nee Robinson) Burke.

Mary was married for many years to David but he has been sadly missed these 28 years.

During her time, she was a great communicator and used every type of device available - telephone, CB, letters, cards and of course, in person.

She was an animal lover who loved all types of pets and even a few farm animals.

She was known for taking in unwanted pets and gave them a loving home.

She loved to cook and was good at it.

She was known for her fry-dogs and homemade bread.

As with all great cooks, she cooked by feel and did not use a recipe.

This is our loss.

She enjoyed bingo but had not played for many years.

Her family was always her priority and she put them above herself.

She was pre deceased by her brothers Wilfred and six young babies (Victor, Cecil, Harvey, George, Darrell and Charles) as well as two children Robert and David.

She is survived by her sister Josephine (Buddy) MacDonald of Amherst, her sister in law Anna of Sydney and her brother Henry (Faye) of Wallace, children Diane (Carl) Lirette of Amherst and Wayne and his partner Tina Carroll of Maccan.

Her grandchildren Craig (Tammy) and Tanya (John Mill) and great grandchildren Austin, Tamara (McKinnon), Brandon and Destiny, all from River Hebert.

There are many cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss her as well.

At her request, there is no service.

She has been cremated by Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906) and her ashes will be buried alongside David in the Amherst Cemetery at a later date.

Donations to the Lillian Albion Animal Shelter of Amherst NS would be appreciated.

Special thanks to the staff from the hospital for looking after her when we could not.

Erich Lucas Reinhardt
(September 4, 1965 - September 2, 2011)

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Erich Lucas Reinhardt age 45 of Fenwick announce his sudden passing on Friday, September 2, 2011 at home.

Born in Germany, he was a son of the late Paul and Victoria (Zeiler) Reinhardt.

Erich immigrated to Canada with his family in 1975.

He worked as a fisherman in Five Islands for 9 years.

Erich was employed with Ropak in Springhill for the past 20 years.

He enjoyed four wheeling and had a passion for car racing.

Erich will be sadly missed by his sister Veronika Reinhardt (Vince) of MacDonald Road, Amherst and his brother Robert of Fenwick and his nephews Nicholas Reinhardt of Amherst and Benjamin (Erin) O’Blenis of Edmonton, Alberta, brother in law Harry Gouchie and his many close friends.

Besides his parents, Erich was predeceased by a sister Joanne Gouchie - Reinhardt.

Visitation will be held on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers Monday at 8 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.

Interment will follow in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.

Memorial donations in Erich’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Crohnes and Colitis Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation of Canada or the charity of your choice.

Norman Charles Laurette
(September 14, 1940 - September 28, 2011)

Norman Charles Laurette age 71 of Amherst passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at home.

Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Norman and Pauline (MacDonald) Laurette.

Norman is survived by three brothers Tom, Terry and Bill all of Amherst, one sister Betty Presland of Cornwall, ON, and special nephew, Danny.

He was predeceased by brothers Russell and Sam and one sister Catherine Ann.

There will be no visitation or funeral service.

Arrangements entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst.

Jonathan (Jon Jon) William Brown
(January 31, 1978 - September 20, 2011)

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Jonathan (Jon Jon) William Brown age 33, of Moncton and formerly of Amherst announce his passing on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at home.

Born in Amherst, he was a son of Holly (Gibbons) Hamilton of Mount Whatley, NB and the late William Brown.

He was a loving son, grandson and brother.

Jon Jon will be sadly missed by his partner Joanne Edson, his mother Holly, step father Frank Hamilton, daughter Brittney Dawn Rose Douthwright of Amherst, one brother Bradford Brown on Ontario, two sisters Patricia Brown of Amherst and Robin (Jeff) Wilcox of Belnan, Halifax County.

He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Joan Gibbons of Amherst and many aunts and uncles.

Jon Jon is predeceased by his maternal grandfather David Gibbons and his paternal grandparents Earl and Etta (Amero) Brown.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 7-9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906).

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Campbell’s Chapel with Rev. Donald Miller officiating.

Memorial donations in Jon Jon’s memory may be made to the Addiction Services.
