Mr. Edgar Hilton "Shorty" Hatfield

HATFIELD, Edgar Hilton "Shorty" - 87, Halifax, passed away August 6, 2007, at home.
Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Edgar and Vedora (Canning) Hatfield.
He was employed for 45 years with Eastern Canada Towing as the chief engineer on tug boats.
Shorty enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Two Islands, Parrsboro.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Leona "Mona" (Babineau); sons, Hilton, Lesmere, Kevin; daughter, Jo-Ann; grandchildren, Michael and Steven Hatfield, Ian Fraser.
He was predeceased by son, Wayne; brothers, Horace, Allison, Larry, Cyril; sisters, Althea and Camilla.
Visitation will take place 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens.
A reception will follow in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society.
Mr. William Ernest "Bill" Whiting

WHITING, William Ernest "Bill" - passed away peacefully Saturday, August 4, 2007, in Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Bright's Grove, Ont., he was a son of the late Ernest and Daisy (Davie) Whiting.
He was a member of the Atlantic Chiefs and P.O.'s Association and the Combined Operations Association.
He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1941 until 1965 and took part in the Normandy Invasion on board LCI(L)285 of the 260th Landing Craft Flotilla.
After retiring from the navy he was employed with Dow Chemical of Canada in Sarnia, Ont.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, the former Virginia Suzanne McIntosh; sons, David (Sonja), Yarmouth, and John, Halifax; sister, Fran (Allan) Cadwalder, Sarnia, Ont.; grandchildren, Leigh (Ivan) and Mark, and great-granddaughters, Olivia, Hannah and Rachael.
He was predeceased by son, William; sister, Joan, and brothers, John and George.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, where a service will be held Sunday, August 12, at 2 p.m., Rev. Elroy McKillop officiating.
Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Area.
Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville.
Mrs. Beryl Ruth Stallybrass
October 5, 1928 - August 6, 2007
Beryl Ruth Stallybrass, formerly of Moncton, passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 6th 2007, after a period of failing health.
Born in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Sydney and Lillian (Masters) Faulkner.
She is survived by her sister Muriel Armstrong (late Walter) and sister-in-law Peggy Faulkner (late Richard) of Moncton, daughters; Pauline (Martin Gilbert) of Halifax, Wendy Carter (Len) of Moncton, and special daughter Kim Nicholson of Medicine Hat, AB., grandchildren; Jeff Melanson (Sandy), Chris Melanson, Angela, Darren, Kevin, & Sara Carter, Jessie and Jason Nicholson, aunt Stella Masters, cousins Katie and Margaret as well as several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brothers Ernest, George and Richard, sisters Winnifred, Rosemary and Dorothy.
Following the Second World War, Beryl immigrated to Canada with her family, settling in Lakeville, helping to operate a family general store.
During the 60's, Beryl was a well respected foster mother to many infants before embarking on a career as a Ward Aid with The Moncton Hospital.
She also was a Home Care provider with Upjohn Home Care Services for several years.
As well, she provided care and support to her mom and brother George throughout their lives.
At her request there will be no visitation prior to the memorial service to be held at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, August 9th, 2007.
A reception will follow the service in the Garden View Reception Room.
Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
Donations to the NB Lung Association or The Sackville Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank Dr. Harold Popma for the special care and attention he gave to mom during her short stay at the Drew Nursing Home and Sackville Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. M. Louise Donahoe (Fennell)

DONAHOE (Fennell), M. Louise, 90, well-known south end Halifax and Chester resident, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Windsor on Tuesday, August 14, 2007. She was a daughter of the late Francis Fennell and Adele (Carroll) Fennell. She attended St. Thomas Aquinas School, St. Patrick's High School and was a graduate of Miss McGlaughlan's Business College. She was employed at the main branch of The Royal Bank of Canada in Halifax prior to her marriage. Mrs. Donahoe was President of Miss Murphy's Business College and Donahoe Holdings Ltd., both family owned companies. She was a member of the Waegwoltic Club, The Saraguay Club, The Halifax Curling Club and the Chester Golf Club. She was a founding member of Canadian Martyrs Church, for many years a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and most recently of St. Mary's Basilica. Mrs. Donahoe is survived by her daughter, Dr. Martha (Bruce) Jodrey, Windsor and Chester; grandsons, James "Jay" (Michelle Warr), Calgary, and Joel Jodrey, Halifax; sisters, Patricia Fennell and Irene (Mrs. C.W.P. Crookshank), both of Halifax, and brothers, Frederick, Toronto, and Dr. Francis Fennell, Halifax. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Francis "Frank" J. Donahoe, and brother, Edward. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, August 17, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. The funeral mass will take place in Canadian Martyrs Church, Inglis Street, on Saturday, August 18, at 10 a.m. with Father James Mallon and Father Lloyd O'Neill officiating. Reception immediately following for family and friends at Canadian Martyrs Parish Hall. Private family interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Chair in Learning Disabilities at Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax, a cause which was very close to her heart. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Kazimirski and the caregivers, Alda McCarthy, Jill Logan, Debbie Benedict, Claudia Benedict, Peggy Langille, Bernice Carr, Nicie Dill who nursed Louise at home so devotedly to the last.

HUNT, Michael William - 50, Lower Sackville, passed away at home on August 13, 2007. Born in Dartmouth, he was a son of George Hunt, Porter's Lake, and the late Geraldine (Meade) Hunt. He was a member of the Kinsman Club, Lower Sackville and coached minor hockey, soccer, and baseball in the Lower Sackville area. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, swimming in his pool and spending time with children. He worked in Burnside for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Terry (McCormick) Hunt; son, Gerrid (Mandy) Hunt and their son Laikyn David Gerrid Hunt, all of Arichat; daughter, Deidra Hunt, at home; sisters, Aimee Hunt, Lower Sackville; Tammy (Wilson) Lavhey, Dartmouth; Annetta (Glen) Tomblin, Susan (Randall) Ramsay, both of British Columbia; brothers, Robert (Krista) Hunt, Bedford; Collin Hunt, Dartmouth; stepmother, Ethel "Kit" Hunt, Porter's Lake. He was predeceased by mother, Geraldine; brother, David Hunt; sister-in-law, Betty. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 18, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. A reception will follow. Family flowers only.
