Donald Charles Murphy

MURPHY, Donald Charles, 64, East Dover, passed away August 10, 2007, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Harris and Rebecca (Coolen) Murphy. An avid hunter, he enjoyed spending time at the camp in Stewiacke. He was a "jack-of-all-trades" and a master of none. He as an expert 45 player and he let everyone know it. Donald loved his workshop and his pride and joy was his grandchildren and great-grandson. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his wife, Karen (Hickling); daughters, Kimberlea, Guelph, Ont.; Tina, Guelph, Ont.; and special daughter, Jessica, Guelph, Ont.; son, Dwayne; Halifax; sisters, Melita (Charlie) Basden, Prospect Bay; Margaret (Roger) Lohnes, Lower Sackville; Marion (Danny) Pickrem, Hubbards; four granddaughters; three grandsons; one great-grandson. He was predeceased by infant son, Dwayne, and brother, Bill. No visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, in St. Thomas Church, East Dover, Father Dariusz Misiolek officiating. Burial in St. Thomas Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice.
Mr. James Thomas Hannah
August 30, 1942 - August 11, 2007
While vacationing in the Muskokas, Jim peacefully passed away on August 11, 2007 in his 65th year Beloved husband and best friend of 37 years to Susan. Cherished "Papa Bear" to Cathy and father-in-law to Jon-David Price. Brother-in-law of Vicki Walter (Lloyd) and special uncle to their children Robert and Scott. He will also be dearly missed by his niece Liz Cartwright (Keith) and their children Robert and Scott and his nephew Robert Costello. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Matilda Hannah and sister Til and brother-in-law Vern. Jim will be fondly remembered by his many friends and neighbours especially his verandah companion Dakota. Friends will be received at the HIGHLAND FUNERAL HOME, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East (west of Warden 416-773-0933) on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Laura Annie "Lolly" LePage
March 31, 1942 - August 12, 2007
LePAGE, Laura Annie "Lolly", 65, Bedford, passed away August 12, 2007, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Barry and Annie (Lacey) Foster. She enjoyed shopping, Saturday afternoons with "The Aunties" and time with her children. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Winston; sons, Bruce (Sally), Cobourg, Ont., and Stephen, Halifax; daughters, Lauralene, Bedford; Michelle (Nicholas) Horne, Lower Sackville; brother, James "Jimmy" (Linda), Middle Sackville; grandson, William; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Friday, August 17, in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Bedford, Father Pat Cosgrove officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Feed Nova Scotia or a charity of one's choice.
Mr. Donald Ross Smith
September 10, 1950 - August 11, 2007
Donald Ross Smith, P.Eng. (1950-2007) of Calgary passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the Rockyview General Hospital, Calgary after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of Evelyn (Wood) Smith of Amherst and the late R. Layton Smith.
Donald graduated from Pugwash District High School, Dalhousie University, and from the Nova Scotia Technical College in 1972, with a Bachelor of Engineering degree, with Distinction. Donald spent 3 years with The Enterprise Foundry Co. Ltd. in Sackville, N.B. before moving to Truro in 1975 to join Polymer International (NS) Ltd., which later became Intertape Polymer Group., and Engineered Coated Products. During the 25 years Donald spent in Truro with this company, he held a variety of positions in Production, Engineering , and R&D, and made many contributions toward the growth and success of the operation. In 2000, Donald moved to Calgary to assume the position of Technical Support Engineer, in which he worked with customers, outside suppliers and the various territory managers in both the Western provinces and states. This position gave him the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the region, and on several occasions, to visit China, Korea, and Viet Nam to meet with potential suppliers. Besides items related to his career, Don was also interested in sports, music, reading, agriculture, and woodworking.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a son Robert of Calgary, a daughter Stephanie (Kenny Ford) of Las Vegas, and their mother Brenda Tufts of Shubenacadie, N.S; his brother, Weldon (Jill) of Tidnish, a nephew Brett; and uncle Wyman Wood of Linden, aunts Audrey (Harold) Wood of Oxford and Mazel (Harold) Crossman of Bedford; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Susan Estabrooks and Rev. Steven Longmoore officiating.
Interment will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Linden.
Donations in Donald's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

Madeline (Fitzgerald) Power
February 11, 1922 - August 11, 2007
POWER (Fitzgerald), Madeline, 85, Halifax, passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2007. She was a daughter of James and Nina Fitzgerald (Chisholm). Born and educated in Halifax, she graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart. She was employed by the Royal Bank of Canada and the Halifax Public Service Commission prior to marrying her naval officer husband, Kevin Power. They were happily married for 59 years. A devoted wife and mother, she is remembered especially for her sense of humour and her love of flowers. She was a volunteer for several organizations, particularly with her church and the IWK Health Centre. She is survived by her husband, Captain (N) J. Kevin Power; her children, John (Nadine), Vermont, U.S.A.; Nicholas (Jane Larimer), Toronto; Brian (Sharon Scott), Markdale, Ont.; Sarah, Toronto; Jeffrey (Marion), Halifax; Robert (Pamela), Calgary; Jane Power-Grimm (Brian), Annapolis Royal; Jennifer (Eric Flanders), Halifax; her sisters, Joan Fitzgerald and Nancy Whitby (Elliot), and brother James Fitzgerald, all of Halifax; 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her brother, Jack, and her sister, Margaret. Visitation will take place Tuesday, August 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 15, at 10 a.m. in Canadian Martyrs Church, 5900 Inglis St. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
