Mrs. Judy MacPhee
December 23, 1943 - September 20, 2007

Judy MacPhee, 63, New Waterford - We regret to announce the death of Judy MacPhee at her residence on Thursday, September 20, 2007 after a couragous battle with cancer.

Born in Newfoundland, she was the daughter of Lucy (Smith) Penney and the late Albert W. Penney.

Judy was a kind and caring person who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she encountered.

Judy was very active in her community and church, Calvin United, where she was a long time member of the choir.

At one time she was employed at the New Waterford Store, K-Mart and the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.

At the onset of her illness she was employed at People's Jewellers - Mayflower Mall.

Judy is survived by her husband, Charlie, one daughter, Penney(Duncan) and one son Derek (Lori).

Also surviving are Judy's grandchildren, Tyler, Brittny, Kayla, Eric and three sisters, Betty (Gary) Micholsky, Nellie (Ken) Biggers and Daphne (Bill) Stevenson.

She will be sadly missed by four brothers-in-law, John MacPhee, Gerard (Linda) MacPhee, Martin (Kay) MacPhee, Billy (Debbie) MacPhee, nieces and nephews, her aunt Daisy Hoddnot and by a special daughter Shannon Nemis.

Judy was predeceased by a brother in infancy, Albert, in-laws Hannah and Dougie MacPhee and brother in law Eddie MacPhee.

Visitation will take place this evening, Friday, September 21, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home on 380 Smith Street in New Waterford.

The funeral service officiated by Rev. Duncan Roach is Sunday, 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church followed by interment in Union Grove Cemetery, SCTN.

Fellowship will follow at Calvin United Hall. Judy will be taken to the church on Sunday at noontime.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy's memory may be made to Calvin United Church.

Mellick Ernest "Mel" Warren
April 25, 1921 - September 19, 2007

WARREN, Mellick Ernest "Mel", 86, Seabright Rest Home, Seabright, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 19, 2007, in the home. Born April 25, 1921, in North River, P.E.I., he was a son of the late Ernest and Ada (Dockendorff) Warren. Loving father to Lynne Ann (Mike) Lester; grandfather to Sean (Kelli) Lester, Colin (Sara) Lester; great-grandfather to Davey and Harley; brother to Muriel (Warren) Copeland; uncle to many nieces and nephews, especially Ruth (Jim) Allaby. He was the beloved husband of the late Pansy Caroline Clow MacAusland and was also predeceased by sisters, Helene and Ada; brothers, Lorne, Gordon, Keir, and Fulton. Mel was a kind and gentle man who was admired and loved by many. He was a devoted worshiper of the Lord and an elder in Etter Road United Baptist Church, Mount Uniacke, and during the last few years he worshiped at Stevens Road United Baptist Church. Mel was considered a special person in the community, was a member of the Masonic Order, and served as Past Master St. Andrew's No. 1 Grand Lodge Nova Scotia (GLNS), Past Master Uniacke Lodge No. 128 GLNS and Past Junior Grand Deacon GLNS 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. He was a 50 year Jewel member and Meritorious Jewel holder, GLNS. He was a strong supporter of Masonry, and was a renowned ritualist who monitored and guided many Masonic Brothers who sought his knowledge and guidance. Mel will be missed by many, especially his family who adored and spoke of him with pride, love and admiration for his guidance, tenderness, love without boundaries and friendship. Special thanks to the staff of Seabright Rest Home who lovingly cared for him. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday in Stevens Road United Baptist Church, 2 Stevens Rd., Dartmouth, Rev. Dr. Robert Nickerson officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mel's memory to a charity of your choice are welcomed.
He will be truly missed yet remembered forever.

Mrs. Jeanette Margaret MacKenzie
April 30, 1927 - September 21, 2007

MacKENZIE, Jeanette Margaret - 80, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on September 21, 2007. Born in Newcastle, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Josephine (Benson) Galliah. Jeanette was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion Somme Branch 31. Surviving are sons, John (Sherri), Paul (Heather), Gary (Tracy), and many friends past and present. She was predeceased by her husband, John George Howard MacKenzie. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 25, at 12 p.m. in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Maple Street, Dartmouth. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Jeanette can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Mom said, "You can't be perfect; nobody is, I just let on I was."

Mrs. Mary Jean MacAulay
December 4, 1928 - September 24, 2007

New Waterford - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Mary MacAulay on Monday, September 24th, 2007 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.

Born in Lingan and a lifelong resident of St. Joseph's St., New Waterford, Mary was the daughter of the late John H. and Nellie (MacIntosh) Laffin. She was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church. Mary raised her five children after the sudden death of her husband Dave in 1963.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Cyril) MacKinnon, New Waterford, Laurel (Michael) McDonald, Lingan, Ruth (Craig) Perry, Howie Centre and two sons, John (Joan), Alberta and Ivan (Mary Ann) in New Waterford.

Also left to mourn her passing is her sister Marguerite Collins, Sydney, her brother Howard Laffin, Lingan and fourteen grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her husband David Widden MacAulay in 1963 as well as two brothers Harold and Patrick Laffin.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday Evening from 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home on 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. The funeral mass is Thursday morning, 11 a.m. in the parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church followed by interment at the parish cemetery. Fellowship will be held at the Carmel Center.

Family flowers only.Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the I.W.K. Hospital, Halifax or a charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Margaret Cleland Taylor
January 3, 1916 - September 24, 2007

TAYLOR, Margaret Cleland
TAYLOR, Margaret Cleland, 91, of Yarmouth, died September 24, 2007, in Villa St. Joseph Du Lac, Dayton. Born January 3, 1916, in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late Violet (Cleland) and Frank Burrell. She moved from Dartmouth with her parents at an early age to reside in Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co. She attended grade school in Brooklyn and spent four years at Yarmouth County Academy, graduating in 1933. She then attended Yarmouth Business College. In 1937, she was employed as a stenographer in the law firm of R.S. McKay, K.C. In October 1938, she joined the staff of the department of Public Health and became Secretary to the Director of the Western Health Unit, serving 35 years and retiring in 1973. In Dartmouth, in 1946, she was married to Charles Henry Taylor of Cwmtillery, South Wales (Great Britain) and they took up residence in Yarmouth. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; an infant brother and her parents. She was a member of the Nova Scotia Government Retired Employees Association, A past Matron of Keystone Chapter No. 5, Order of the Eastern Star in Yarmouth, and a life member of Yarmouth County Historical Society. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 27, from 12-2 p.m. with an Eastern Star service at 1:30 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth, with Rev. Robert Baker officiating. Burial will take place in Brooklyn Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
