Mrs. Genevieve Elva MacPherson
July 12, 1943 - July 19, 2007
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Genevieve MacPherson age 64 of Dorchester Street, Glace Bay. Genevieve passed away at her residence on Thursday, July 19, 2007.
Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of the late Willie and Minnie (Wadden) Boutilier. Genevieve was raised in Wadden’s Cove and when she married, moved to No. 11, Glace Bay. She remained active in The Preservation of Christ Church, South Head until her death. She also served as President of The Preservation of Christ Church Association. She was an avid fan of Coronation Street and Kinsmen Bingo. She also enjoyed exploring the family history and knew how everyone was related.
Genevieve will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 43 years, Sidney, son, Stewart (Rhonda) MacPherson, daughters, Laurie (Danny) Fraser and Laurel (Eric) MacNeil. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren whom she adored, Beth (Mike Barron) and Shaun MacPherson, Warren, Whitney and Haley MacNeil, brothers, Craig Boutilier, Frank (Janice) Boutilier and Gary (Gail) Boutilier and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is extended family, Holly, MacKenzie, Kobe, Christopher, Wayne, Calista, Nevaeh, and Ashley Fraser.
Besides her parents, a sister, Beatrice, predeceased her in infancy.
Visitation for Genevieve MacPherson will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2007, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. Donations in Genevieve’s memory may be made to Christ Church Association or the Cancer Society.
Mr. Robert "Bob" Roy Dean
October 17, 1918 - July 20, 2007
Robert Dean passed away at his Moncton residence on Friday, July 20, 2007 following a lengthy illness. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, NS, he was the son of the late James and Annie (Ross) Dean. Bob was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Artillery during the Normandy invasion, the liberation of Holland, and Germany at the end of the war. Bob retired as a Motorman with CN express, Moncton, following 32 years of service. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Moncton Branch # 6, a member of the CN Pensioners Association, and a member of the Uplands Baptist Church. In his retirement Bob spent many hours in his woodworking shop, where he enjoyed his woodcrafts, cabinet and furniture making.He is survived by his wife of 60 years Hazel (Ellis) Dean, sisters; Catherine Watson of Middle Musquodoboit, NS, Shirley Stairs (Harold) of Burtts Corner, NB, brothers; John of Woodstock, ON, Norman of St. Catherines, ON, Basil (Edna) of Woodstock, ON, as well as many nieces, nephews and families. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers; Ernest, Carl, Tom, Charles and Laurie.
There will be no visitation prior to the celebration of life service to be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 23rd at Uplands Baptist Church, 398 Salisbury Road, Pastor Gordon James officiating, assisted by Rev. Jack Allen. No scented products please. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery, Wittenburg, NS. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Gideons, the Hospice Palliative Care Greater Moncton, or a charity of your choice. Mr. Peter Marsden "Pete" Durber

DURBER, Peter Marsden "Pete" - Sackville, died July 22, 2007, in Wallace. Born in Grantham, England, he was a son of the late Douglas H.R. Durber and Winnifred (Walker). Born in Grantham, Peter grew up in Wisbech, England. He joined the RAF at age 17 and achieved the rank of Sergeant, being awarded the Burma Star for his three and a half years of service in India and Burma during the Second World War. He met and married Katherine Price in 1948 while both served in the RAF. The family moved to Canada in 1950, settling first in Prince Edward Island, then moving to Nova Scotia in 1953. Peter worked in the Engineering Department of Fairey Aviation before moving to IMP where he worked until retirement in the design department of the Aerospace Division. Following his retirement in 1990, Pete and Kit travelled the world and had many wonderful adventures, thoroughly enjoying their time together. Peter was a devoted family man and a wonderful provider, could create and build anything he set his mind to, was fiercely loyal and proud of his family, diligent, and a good friend to anyone who knew him. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Katherine (Price) Durber; sons, Christopher Durber (Janice), Middle East; Robert Durber, Sackville; daughter, Mary Anne Brunelle of Bridgewater; brother, Colin Durber (Esther), British Columbia. He is also survived by grandchildren, Rebecca, Jennifer, Morgan and Holly, and great-granddaughter, Kirsten. He was predeceased by daughter, Josephine Durber-Dawson; brothers, John Durber and David Durber. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 26, at 1 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, Sackville, with reception to follow in the funeral home reception centre. Private family burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
Mr. Ivan Harris Dobson
May 1, 1927 - July 25, 2007
It is with deep regret and sadness we announce the passing of Ivan Harris Dobson on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, N.S.
Born in Little Shemogue, N.B., on May 1, 1927, he was a son of the late Richard and Bessie (Ibbitson) Dobson.
Ivan lived much of his life in Sackville, N.B. where he was employed at both Enterprise and Fawett Foundries. He was also employed with Dexter Construction and raced horses for Dexter Stable at Brunswick Downs. Ivan’s love of horses and racing took him to New England, Montreal and various racetracks in the Maritimes.
His latter years, he resided in Amherst with his wife of 57 years Marjorie where they enjoyed their years of retirement together.
Ivan enjoyed the outdoors and his love of farming, hunting and fishing remained with him throughout his life. He was a great storyteller and loved to recall days past and simpler ways of life.
Ivan is survived by his loving wife the former Marjorie Stephens; his daughters: Anne (Howie) Lee of Dewdney, BC, and Marion (Garnet) Burns of Shubenacadie, N.S.; son: Brian (Veronica) Dobson of Midgic, N.B.; his three beloved granddaughters: Katie and Abby Lee and Jacklyn Dobson; sisters: Elda Hopper of Moncton, N.B. and Nellie (Curry) Gould of Amherst; brother: Harold (Nancy) Dobson of Liverpool, N.S.; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ivan was predeceased by his brother: Warren and sister: Vera Dexter.
His remains are resting in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, (902-667-9906) with visiting on Friday, July 27, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 3 p.m. from Campbell’s Chapel with Rev. Tom Hamilton and Rev. Paula Hamilton officiating. Interment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery.
Donations in Ivan’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.
Mr. Dana George Oulton
December 21, 1935 - July 26, 2007
Dana George Oulton age 71 of Amherst passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at home.
Born in Lorneville, N.S, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Viola (Jackson) Oulton.
Dana was an avid hunter, fisher and enjoyed spending time with his son. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle, and will be dearly missed by all.
Dana is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Sharon Catherine (Chapman) Oulton; one son: Kevin (Susan) of Amherst; three daughters: Marilyn (Trevor) Cox, Cathy (Byron) Carter and Donna (Joseph) Roberts all of Amherst; sister: Phyllis (Eddy) Oulton of Halifax N.S.; brother: Eric (Faye) of Summerside, P.E.I.; sister in law: Shirley Miller of Dartmouth N.S.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one sister: Peggy Ogden
His remains are resting in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Sunday, July 29, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Ed Sealy officiating.

Mr. Donald P. "Don" Craig

CRAIG, Donald P. "Don" - 79, Lower Sackville, passed away July 26, 2007, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, 4 West, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Gerald and Kathleen (Laphen) Craig. Don was a veteran of the Second World War (Merchant Marine) and was a Korean Conflict veteran, retiring as Chief Petty Officer in 1974. He was a culinary instructor at Nova Scotia Institute of Technology retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Calais Branch 162; 4th Degree Knight, Knights of Columbus, Council 7077 and a long-time member of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are his loving wife of over 53 years, the former Josephine Allen; sons, Steve (Shari), Michael (Heather), and daughter, Karen, all of Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Marlo, Jennifer, Jonathan Craig; great-grandson, Stephen Craig; brother, Cyril (Denny), Alberta. He was predeceased by sisters, Marion Rapp, Doris Evans and Carole Rudge. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. Memorial mass will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial in Oakridge Memory Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Cobequid Community Health Centre Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
