Mrs. Shirley Marie Lucas

LUCAS, Shirley Marie, 69, Eastern Passage, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007 in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, after a lengthy illness with leukemia. Born May 19, 1938 in Eastern Passage, she was a daughter of the late Hurley and Matilda (Wilson) Langille. Shirley was a lifetime member of Saint Peter's Anglican Church, Eastern Passage. She was employed with the RCMP (H Division) for 12 years, Canada Pension, New Horizons and Health and Welfare Canada. Her greatest enjoyments in life were her family, cat Frisky, the pheasants in her backyard, the ocean, summer residence in Bridgewater, Blue Jay baseball games, flowers in the garden and her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Clarence William; son, Gary William Lucas (Angela Daye); daughter, Karen Marie Goodrick; grandchildren, Trevor, Chelsey and Chandler Lucas; Samantha, Danielle and Trisha Goodrick; sisters, Betty Greaves, Toronto; Lorraine (Les) Saunders, Richmond, BC; Gloria (Jim) Lindsay, Eileen Cross, Eastern Passage; Dorothy (Lloyd) Power, Dartmouth; Margaret (Al) Sheppard, Wilmot; brothers, Charles Langille (Verna Hiltz), David (Diane) Langille, Eastern Passage; Willis (Joan) Langille, Bedford; sisters-in-law, Joan Langille, Helen Langille, Shirley Langille, Eastern Passage; Edith Langille, Cole Harbour; Ann (Al) Blank, Greenwood; Louise (Richard) Chiasson, Porters Lake; Pat and Donna Lucas, Dartmouth; brothers-in-law, George, Kinsley and Reg Lucas; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Harold, Walter, Kenneth and Hurley Langille; brother-in-law, Leo Lucas. Special thanks is extended to Shirley's family doctor, Dr. Lorne Marsh; Orville Hanes (Blood Specialist); Palliative Care Team (Lynn, Helen and Melvin); Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, VG Site; Transplant Bone Marrow Unit, Floor 8B, VG Site, especially Marilyn, Crystal, Jean, Suzanna, Eileen, Erin and Gerald, and all the nurses for their compassionate and loving care. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, where Shirley's family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 pm Monday, July 30, 2007. Funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, July 31, 2007 in Saint Peter's Anglican Church, 346 Cow Bay Road, Eastern Passage, Reverend John Ferguson officiating. WITHERALL, Simon Maxwell, 86, Halifax, passed away suddenly July 25, 2007, at home. Born in Fortune, N.L., he was a son of the late Simon and Sarah (Lake) Witherall (Fortune, N.L.). He devoted his working years to the sea and fishing industry, the latest being a long term career with National Sea Products, Halifax. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his companion, Bridget David; stepdaughters, Catherine Nash, Toronto; Alexander Pickett, Mississauga; brother-in-law, Clayton Skinner, Yarmouth; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Dorina (Chiasson); granddaughters, Michelle Cherry, Gwen Nash, Kimberley Nash; sisters, Susie Witherall, Sarah Dodge and Ethel Skinner. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Harvey Seasons officiating. Burial in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or charity of your choice.
Mrs. Marlene Marie Bowser (McCully)

BOWSER (McCully), Marlene Marie - 58, Lower Sackville, passed away July 28, 2007, at home, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born December 6, 1948, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Eileen (McCully) Power. She was a long-time employee of Zellers. Marlene was a devoted mother, wife and sister, always putting her family first, and she was her son's best friend. Marlene is survived by loving husband of almost 40 years, John, and her pride and joy, her sons, John Jr. and Michael (fiancée Christa); granddaughter, Alissa; sisters, Barbara (Robert Fancy), Lower Sackville; Nancy Greencorn, Canso; brothers, Barry (Barb) McCully, Hatchet Lake; Brian (Rita) McCully, Dartmouth; mother-in-law, Bertha Bowser; many aunts and uncles, several cousins, loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by her extended family at Zellers. She will be missed by her favourite four-legged friend, Shelby. Marlene was a friend to all who knew her. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. Memorial mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. MANNING (Lade), Mildred Elvira May, 85, Halifax - Today, we say goodbye to a cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mildred passed away Saturday, August 4, 2007, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Salt Springs, Cumberland Co., she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Beatrice (Fraser) Lade. Mildred retired after a long term of employment at the IWK Hospital and the old Children's Hospital. She was an associate member of Mulgrave Park Baptist Church and a former member of "Northern Lights" Seniors Club. Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Elwyn, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was also predeceased by brothers, Arthur and Gordon. Mildred is survived by sons, John R. (Debra), Dartmouth; Roy (Wendy), Halifax; grandchildren, Tracy (Karl) Melchior, Keri (Robert) Warwick, and Troy Manning; great-grandsons, Kory and Connor Melchior and Jake Warwick.; great-granddaughter, Madison Mildred Warwick. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A memorial service will take place 1 p.m. Thursday, August 9, in Mulgrave Park Baptist Church, Rev. Brian Keezer officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. TENNANT, Florence, 75, Parrsboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 3, 2007, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Oxford, she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Marguerite (Sherriff) Rector. A wonderful, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be sadly missed by daughters, Shirley (Grant) Faulkner, Hantsport; Juanita Kelly, Oakville, Ont.; Christine Tennant, Edmonton, Alta.; and Donna Tennant, Parrsboro; sons, Larry, Red Deer, Alta.; Robert, Brantford, Ont.; and Brian (Barbara), Parrsboro; sister, Kathleen (Charlie) Kyle, Warren; brothers, Donald (Irmgard), Hanover, Germany; Utley (Zenith), Parrsboro; Clifford (Joyce), Debert; Timmy, Amherst; and Jimmy (J.J.), Newmarket, Ont.; half-sister, Louella Murray, Moncton; 13 grandchildren, Robert, Matthew, Stephen, Jessie, Beth, Patrick, Shane, Shawna, Sean, Ashley, Eric, Tylor, Madison; three great-grandchildren; and special friend, Joyce Collins. She was predeceased by daughter, Carol; sisters, Frances and Gussie; and half-brothers, Ross and Ernest. The remains have been cremated under the care of Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst. A family graveside service will be held in West Brook Cemetery, West Brook. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Association for Community Living or Canadian Downs Syndrome Society.
Mr. Alexander Douglas "Alex" Lambert

LAMBERT, Alexander Douglas "Alex" - 20, Dartmouth, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007, in Dartmouth, as the result of a tragic motor vehicle accident. Born in Halifax, he was the son of Paul (Wanda Nadeau) Lambert and Tanya (Phil Pearce) Lambert. Alex is survived by his soul mate, the love of his life, Jennifer Keddy, Bedford; paternal grandmother, Rita (Horne) Lambert; maternal grandfather, Rodney Newton; uncles, Roger (Tracy) Newton, Michael (Ann) Newton, George Lambert, Ron Lambert; aunts, Darlene (Walter) Westhaver, Linda (Dan) Seddon, Elizabeth (Robbie) LeRue; many cousins; extended family, Gary and Donna Keddy, Terri, Kyle and Jason Keddy. He will be missed by beloved dogs, Kady and Mr. King. He was predeceased by grandfather, Frank Lambert; grandmother, Pauline Newton. Alex was employed as a merchandiser for Farmer's Dairy and at the post office at the Bedford Superstore. He held high personal standards for himself. He was a conscientious and hardworking man. He loved reading, music, movies, video games, and most recently took a love to boating. Alex enjoyed spending time with Jenn and the dogs, and his family and friends. He was a friendly, caring, funny, all-around good guy. Alex was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by all who loved him. THOMPSON, Raymond Fenwick, 81, East Lawrencetown, born November 4, 1925, passed away August 1, 2007, at home. A Second World War veteran, he served overseas. He served in the navy for 20 years and retired from HMC Dockyard. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Lloy), and his son, Raymond Fenwick (Joey) Thompson; his sisters, Patricia, Geraldine, Marie and Maud; and his brother, Stafford. He is survived by his brothers, Gerald (Doris), Merigomish; and Norman, Edmunston. He is also survived by his daughters, Sandi Thompson, Sackville; Sheila Thompson, Dartmouth; Lori (Tony) Voogt, East Lawrencetown; Linda (Michel) Bessem, East Lawrencetown; stepchildren, Kenneth (Nancy Maas) Powell, Halifax; Karen (Robin McDonald) Lyle, Halifax; Joan (Barry) Harrison, Calgary; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and special nephew, Kevin. He was a member of White Ensign Lodge No. 129 and Philae Shrine.
