Mrs. Agnes Laura MacDougall
May 19, 1919 - August 17, 2007

MacDOUGALL, Agnes Laura, 88, Halifax, formerly of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Friday, August 17, 2007, in Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in Halls Harbour, she was the daughter of the late George and Cecila Cleveland, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick, and infant son, Patrick Michael. She was the loving mother of sons, George (Alana), Charlottetown; Jim, Shelburne; Ken (Audrey), Annapolis Valley; oldest daughter, Judy (Robert) Milford, and "special daughter", Colleen, Cole Harbour. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was a very warm, gentle and giving woman. She will be sadly missed by all. The family would like to thank the staff of the 8th floor Northwood Centre for their excellent care over the past three and a half years. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow. Burial at a later date.

Mr. Ralph Kenneth Moors
July 29, 1923 - August 22, 2007

MOORS, Ralph Kenneth, 84, Halifax, passed away August 22, 2007, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Alice B. (Adams) and Kenneth James Moors. During the Second World War Ralph served with the RCNVR sailing the North Atlantic on Convoy Duty between Newfoundland and Ireland. After the War he joined the Halifax Fire Department, retiring in 1978 after serving 31 years in many different capacities. He was also a self-taught carpenter, building, renovating and repairing for himself and others. He was an avid hockey fan supporting all sporting events of his grandsons and was a devoted fan of grandson Cameron in both hockey and soccer. He is survived by his wife, Georgia (Adams); daughter, Janine (Tim) Lisenchuk; sons, Gary (Mona), Greg (Heather); brother, Edward "Ted", all of Halifax; grandsons, Ryan (Abby), Nicholas, Christopher, Todd and Kyle Moors, and Cameron Lisenchuk; great-grandson, Cailen; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Florence (Morrisey) Bird, Marjorie (McCready) Lacroix, Pauline Jarrett, Hilda Shipley. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 24, in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Reception following the service. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada.

Mr. Mario Domenico Tagliapietra
August 29, 1933 - August 18, 2007

TAGLIAPIETRA, Mario Domenico, 73, Fall River, passed away August 18, 2007, in the Northwood Care Facility. He was a son of the late Nino Domenico Tagliapietra and the late Patricia (Brooke) Tagliapietra. Before coming to Canada, Mario was a member of the British Army and served as a peacekeeper in Lybia. Mario moved from London, England, to Canada in 1954. He worked on the Air Force Base in Stephenville, Newfoundland, where he met his wife Dola. He was the owner of the Venice Restaurant on Dupont Street in Toronto. He then moved to Port Hawkesbury in 1962 where he ran Dino's drive-in and Motel until 1974. He also owned and operated Dino's One Stop in Ingonish on the Cabot Trail from 1971 until he retired in 1989. He was also the president of Mardola Enterprises. Mario and Dola moved to Fall River in 1997. Mario was a past member of the Lions Club in Port Hawkesbury, a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43 in Port Hawkesbury, and a present member of Branch 90 in Waverley. Mario was a member of the Cape Breton's Tourist Association for 20 years and also served on their board of directors. He was a sponsor of Dino's Baseball Teams in Port Hawkesbury and Ingonish. He had a passion for life, enjoying reading, traveling, hunting, fishing and gardening. We are filled with memories that reflect how much he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and the companionship of family dogs. He is survived by his wife, Dola (Benoit); sons, Carlo (Veronique), Dartmouth; Tony (Leah), Cole Harbour; daughter, Lorraine Martin (Dean), Shubenacadie; grandchildren, Keegan, Zachary, Antonia, Maria, Patricia, Matteo, Delaney, and James; brother, Dino (Antigonish); sisters, Silvia (Volo), England; Sandie (Tagliapietra), Italy. He was loved and will be missed by his extended family, mother-in-law, Anna Benoit; in-laws, Marie (Albert) Barry, the late Fintan (Elizabeth) Benoit, Evelyn (Lyle) Russell, Cynthia (Bert) Barry, Judy (Gordon) Andrews, Carl (Audrey) Benoit, Myra (Donald) White, Roselyn (Jerry) Misurka, Marion (Richard) Rotchford, Carmie (Tim) Couture, Leon (Elaine) Benoit and Rose (Rich) Bennett. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be deeply missed. The family wishes to thank the staff of the 7th floor, Central Building of the Northwood Care Facility in Halifax, for all of their excellent care and attention they gave to Mario and our family during his stay. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, in Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 90, 1166 Rocky Lake Dr., Waverley. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Linda Marie Garnett
September 24, 1949 - August 29, 2007

GARNETT, Linda Marie, 57, Falmouth, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Jennie (Bellefontaine) Horne and the late John Horne. Linda was very passionate about golfing, curling, gardening, home decorating and her grandchildren. She was extremely loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul, Falmouth; daughter, Tammy MacLean, Kerishay (Doug) Rennie, all of Lawrencetown; Tracey MacLean, Tara MacLean, both of Bedford; sisters, Joanne (Louis) Baranay, Montreal; Karen (David) Murphy, Tatamagouche; brothers, Maurice (Sally) Horne, Jack (Hazel) Horne, George Horne, all of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Colton MacLean, Mackenzie Rennie. She was predeceased by sisters-in-law, Charmaine Horne, Linda Horne. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The QEII Foundation, c/o 8A Haematology Unit.

Mr. Roy Edward "Ed" Bowdridge
November 28, 1943 - August 28, 2007

BOWDRIDGE, Roy Edward "Ed", 64, Halifax, passed away August 28, 2007, with his family by his side. Born in Halifax on November 28, 1943, he was a son of of the late Roy and Daisy Bowdridge. After growing up in the North End, Ed graduated from Halifax Vocational School with a diploma in mechanics. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for eight years before joining the Halifax Regional Fire Department in 1968. He retired in 1996, having attained the rank of platoon chief. During his years with the fire department, he also worked in the construction industry in various capacities, the majority of years owning and operating Bowdridge & Sons Contracting. Most recently, his focus was in the construction safety field, owning and operating Metro Safety Services as another family business. He could always be found working on his latest project in the garden, around his home or at his desk. He treasured his times at the camp in East Dalhousie. Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Colleen (O'Toole); children, Eddie (Rhonda), Stephen (Heather Fairbairn), Mary-Ann (Sandy) Falconer, Sharon (Lawrence) Fillmore, Maureen (Paul) Wickwire, Gary (Ella Silver), Bruce and Douglas (Jennifer Gurney); 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Halifax Regional Municipality; brothers, Gordon (Pat), Wayne (Marcie), Melvin (Carolyn), Paul (Valerie), Eric (Fran), Ron (Kate); sisters, Marie Joyce and Judy Dorey; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and in-laws, he was predeceased by his son, Timothy Arthur; brother-in-law, Brian Joyce, and nephew, Christopher Tufts. Visitation will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, Rev. Canon Rod Gillis officiating. Reception following the service. Burial in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Thank you to the staff of the 6th floor of the QEII and the Palliative Care Team for their support. Donations to the Burn Treatment Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Mr. Stephen 'Moe' Pasher
May 25, 1955 - August 26, 2007

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband and father, Stephen 'Moe' Pasher, on August 26, 2007 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in New Waterford, he is a son of Clara Pasher and the late Melvin Pasher. Employed by Devco for 25 years, he worked in both Lingan and Phalen Collieries. He later worked at North Lumberland Resources, Liverpool, N.S. and Metro Oil Burning in Halifax. He spent the last two years growing his business, Moe Pasher Mobile Hydraulics. He took great pride in being self employed and the many new friendships he established. Moe was an active member of the Scotchtown Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years. He looked forward to his fishing and hunting trips at the Silver Cross Fishing Lodge ("The Camp") on Mattatall Lake. He had a great love for children and they for him. A modest man, he gave unconditionally and enjoyed seeing a smile on the face of others. A devoted husband and father, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Carmel; mother, Clara; daughter, Rayonie, Toronto, Ont.; son Stephen Jr., at home; brother Brian, sister Donnelda ,both of Thompson, MB, sister Melvina, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; godson, Connor Campbell. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Thursday, August 30, at 11 a.m. in the parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lingan with a luncheon to follow at Lingan Hall. Donations in Moe's memory may be made to Scotchtown Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Rene John DeLong
November 27, 1927 - August 27, 2007

Rene John DeLong of 10 Lorne Crest. Amherst NS, passed away following a lengthy illness on Monday, August 27, 2007 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan NS, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 27, 1927 in River Bourgeois NS, he was a son of the late Harry and Venus (Burke) DeLong.
Rene was employed with Waldale Manufacturing Amherst, formerly known as Canadian Assemblies for 42 years as a tool and die maker; later becoming a shop foreman, retiring at the age of 68.
He was very articulate with all manner of craftsmanship; such as television repairs and hand painting just to name a few.
Rene was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife the former Betty Fillmore; daughter Brooke (Stephen) Searle of Middle Stewiacke NS; sisters Mary Ogles and Phyllis Paul both of Amherst; three grandchildren Andrew (Diana), Adam (Deborah) and J. Michael (Jenna); three great-grandchildren Olivia, twins Jeslyn and Ryan; several nieces and nephews.
Rene was predeceased by sisters Ellen DeLong and Frances Arsenault; brothers Cletus and Henry.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst (667-9906).
By request of the family there will be no visitation or funeral service. A family Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in Rene’s memory may be made to the VON Amherst Branch or the Palliative Care Unit of Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
