WALLACE, Annie, 84, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Friday, October 5, 2007, in Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 22, 1923 in White Haven, Cumberland Co., England, she was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Hannah (Stabler) Telford. In her younger years, she was an avid dancer. Annie is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, George Thomas; sons, Ian (Anne Marie Barrett), St. John's, N.L.; Alan (Ivy), Labrador City, N.L.; daughter-in-law, Debbie Wallace, Dartmouth; grandchildren, George Alan, Timothy Rae, Erin Margaret, Megan Elizabeth; sisters, Nell Read, Kathleen Cornelius, Mary Nixon, Ethel Bilton; brothers, Dennis (Sylvia) Telford, John (Jean) Telford; several nieces and nephews, all of England. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where Annie's family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and where the funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre. Family flowers only. POWER, Madeline Lillian - 99, Arichat, formerly of Halifax, passed away Sunday October 7, 2007, in St. Ann's Nursing and Community Centre in Arichat. Madeline was born January 5, 1908, on Big Tancook Island, Lunenburg Co., to the late Ruffus and Jennie (Langille) Wilson. Madeline is survived by daughters Alma Poirier, Halifax; Patricia (James) Poirier, Louisdale; son, Joseph, Halifax; 11 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Joseph; son, Ronald; granddaughters, Lisa and Linda; brothers, Howard, Gurny, Wallace and Warren; sisters, Violet, Lena, Iona, Synella, Mildred, Anita and Cordelia. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, where a memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd, Halifax. Interment in St. John's Cemetery with a reception at Atlantic Funeral Home. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Ann's Nursing and Community Centre, P.O. Box 30, Arichat NS B0E 1A0. LAYBOLT, Douglas Stephen, 58, of Dartmouth passed away October 8, 2007 at home. Born in Lower Ship Harbour he was the son of the late Reginald and Gladys (Siteman) Laybolt. He was a service station manager for over 30 years at various locations. He is survived by daughter Dawn Sheri Laybolt (Tim), Drayton Valley, Alta.; son, Donovan Shawn Laybolt (Carla), Dartmouth; their mother, Betty, Hardwood Lands; sister, Margaret Carriére (Daniel), Ont.; brothers, Scott (Mary) and William (Sheila) Laybolt, both of Ship Harbour; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main St., Dartmouth. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday October 12, 2007 in St. Stephen's Anglican Church Lower Ship Harbour. Burial in St. Stephen's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Stephen's Church Memorial Fund.

CAMPBELL, Margaret Evelyn "Maggie" - 66, of Oakfield, passed away on October 7, 2007 in Halifax Infirmary, QEII, with her family by her side. Born in Waverley she was a daughter of the late George and Bertha (Wren) Quigley. Maggie worked at Oakfield Golf and Country Club, Inn on the Lake and then retired from Airport Hotel as a position of cook, after twenty years of service. She enjoyed playing bingo with her bingo buddies, making Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren, dancing and going to the yard sales. Surviving are her husband of 47 years John "Jack", daughters; Jackie (Mark Stubbington) Burnes, Mt. Uniacke; Peggy (Leo) Jarvis, Oakfield; Terry-Lee, Oakfield; sons, John, Oakfield; Peter (Barb), Enfield; grandchildren, Cody and Sydney Jarvis, Tyler and Geoffrey Burnes and Kelsey Purdy; brothers, Gordon and Burton; sisters, Florence, Helen, Shirley and Carolyn. Predeceased by brothers David and Walter, and sister Elsie. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, on Thursday, October 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m., in St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Enfield, with Father Andrew Rembarczyk officiating. Reception to follow. Burial in the church cemetery. Donations in memory of Maggie can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Doris Gertrude Hazel, age 76, of Three Mile Plains, Hants County, passed away on Wednesday, October 10th, 2007, in the Q.E.II Infirmary Site, Halifax.
Born on September 30, 1931, in Three Mile Plains, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Harry & Hattie (Dykens) Swinamer.
Surviving are her husband, Herman Swinamer; daughters, Joanne (Dewey) Haley, Windsor; Joy (Richard Begin), Three Mile Plains; sons, Jimmy (Theresa) Hazel, Alberta; Vernon (Stacey) Hazel, Three Mile Plains; grandsons, Christopher Henshaw and Darrin Henshaw; granddaughter, Deanna Henshaw; brother, Raymond "Ben" (Dorothy) Swinamer, Three Mile Plains; four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by a son, Stephen; granddaughter, Ashley Henshaw; brothers, Percy and Howard Swinamer; sister, Violet Swinamer and a sister, Shianne in infancy.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday, October 12th, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13th, 2007, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Curry officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.

BROOKS-CARTER, Victoria "Vivian", 67 - With sadness, yet rejoicing, we mourn the passing of our loved one who met her Saviour peacefully, surrounded by family on October 7, 2007, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in East Preston, she was a daughter of the late George and Rita (Saunders) Brooks. Vivian worked many years at the former Victoria General Hospital and Smith Brothers Bindery in Ontario. She was an avid reader and always shared her good reading materiel with her sisters. Viv had a great love for her Lord Jesus and it was He who met her with arms outstretched as she reached for Him on Sunday evening. Not believing that she had to belong to any one church, Viv attended various churches throughout metro. Surviving are friend and ex-husband, Alfred J. Carter; only daughter, Shannon (Robert "Bob") Finlay, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley), Brett, Natasha, Leah and MacKenzie; great-grandchildren, Angyl, Corbin and Zoee; Godchildren, Tara Brooks, Sterling Johnston, Dwana Marsman; brothers, Kenneth, Edmonton; Raymond (Ruth), Herman (Kathleen), Dartmouth; Larry, Ontario; Curtis (Elizabeth), East Preston; sisters, Mildred Scott, Frances Lewin (late Donald Lewin), Delores (Del Marsman), Evangeline, Maxine (Luke Maxwell), Dartmouth; Grace Harden, Ontario; Theresa Johnston, Jennifer (Martin Beals), Marsha, East Preston; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her sisters, Maisie, Rose; brother, Roy. Viv loved her family and always had an open door. We will miss her kind and generous spirit. Doris was a daughter of the late William and Louise Munro (of Pictou). She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Claude; son, Robert (Carol), Riverview, N.B.; daughter, Carole (Neil) Fleming, Kingston; grandchildren, Shawn, Melissa, Amanda, Jonathan and great-grandchildren, Jyana and Spencer. She was predeceased by her son, David and brother, Lewis. Cremation has taken place.
