Mr. Lee Llewellyn Adams
August 26, 1932 - October 25, 2007
ADAMS, Lee Llewellyn, 75, Dartmouth/Dublin Shore, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2007, in Dartmouth General Hospital, with his family by his side. Born in Dublin Shore, he was a son of the late Laurie and Hilda (Zinck) Adams. Lee retired from HMC Dockyard after 25 years of service. Lee was an avid woodsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and was most proud of receiving the Trapper of the Year award for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Leahy) Adams; daughter, Shirley (Larry) LeAnne Adams, New Hampshire; sons, Laurie and David, both at home; sisters, Jeanette (Murray) Collings, Dartmouth, and Mavia (David) Beaulieu, Dartmouth. He was predeceased by brother, Douglas, and a brother in infancy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, were visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday and 12-2 p.m. Tuesday, with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, Rev. Pat Malin officiating. Reception to follow. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
Mr. Paul Gregory Coleman
April 20, 1959 - October 25, 2007
COLEMAN, Paul Gregory - Died unexpectedly on October 25, 2007, in hospital. Paul was born in Sydney on April 20, 1959, to Charlie and Edee (Gillis) Coleman. He was the beloved husband of Janet Campbell and father to Sarah, Michelle, Lisa and Anna, whom he adored. Paul will be missed, as well, by siblings, Charlie (Kathy), Fran Foster (Lloyd), Doug (Susan), Rick, Susan Sampson (Mike) and Kathleen Shipp (Larry); his in-laws, and nieces and nephews, all of whom were his favourites. He enjoyed biking, long walks, camping with his family and summertime in Cape Breton. Paul was a respected employee of Rogers Wireless Operations Team and was a dedicated member of the MNHL. Visitation will be Sunday, October 28, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral mass will be held in St. Rose of Lima Parish, 9 Jamieson Dr., Fall River, on Monday, October 29, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up an educational fund for Paul's children or donations may be made to a children's charity of choice.
Mrs. Hazel Marie Cooke
September 1, 1923 - October 25, 2007
COOKE, Hazel Marie - 84, Dartmouth, passed away October 25, 2007, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. She was a daughter of the late Howard and Minnie (Weir) Ellis (Victoria Beach). Hazel spent time in military service from 1943-1945. Hazel was an avid reader, loved knitting and crocheting. She is survived by son, Gregory, Dartmouth; brother, Alvin (Ada) Ellis, Victoria Beach; sisters, Irene Steel, Ontario; Uella (Ken) Hudson, Port Wade; June (Vern) Story, Alberta; Oriole (Robert) Titus, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Cornelius "Con"; infant daughter; sister, Velda Zarecki (Alberta); brothers, Howard Ellis and Gordon Ellis (both of Dartmouth); Albert Ellis (Victoria Beach). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Monday with funeral service to follow immediately at 2 p.m., Rev. Pat Malin officiating. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Mrs. Catherine "Irene" Yorston
March 22, 1941 - October 26, 2007
YORSTON, Catherine "Irene" - 66, Dartmouth, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late John Fleming and Ellen (Lowe) Fleming (Busby, East Renfrewshire, Scotland). She emigrated to Canada at age 17 and found employment as a payroll clerk in St. Mary's Hospital, Montreal, Que. Married in 1964, she and husband, David, and two children, moved to Dartmouth in 1969. In 1974, she joined the Bank of Nova Scotia data centre as a data entry clerk, eventually rising to the position of assistant manager. She was active in the Beta Sigma Phi organization and the Neighborhood Watch program. She was predeceased by brother, Bill Fleming (Glasgow, Scotland), and sister, Brenda Fournier (Montreal, Que.). She was the heart and soul of her family and will leave a large gap in the lives of husband, David; son, Peter, Dartmouth; daughter, Gwen, Toronto, Ont.; granddaughter, Meagan, Kanata, Ont., and sister, Myra Boushel, Ayers Cliff, Que. Cremation has taken place. A family memorial will be held in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, Main Street, Dartmouth, on Tuesday, October 30, at 10 a.m., followed by interment on the premises.

Olive Hart, 75, Glace Bay - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Olive W. Hart on Friday, October 26, 2007, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex.
Born in Louisbourg, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Alice (Cordeau) Jewell.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy (Raylene), Allan (Nancy), Cathie MacLean, Joe, Mary Rowe; grandchildren, Amanda, Jodie, Jeffery, Bradley, Vrnda, Brandon, Colin, Kayalah, Marisa, Trina, Lacey, Tracy, Naryan; great-grandchildren, Kerstin, Anthony, Trinnette, Brycen, Alliegha, Nathan and two great-grandchildren to be; sisters, Mabel, Rose, Marie; brother, Alphonse; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Allan in 1977; sisters, Margaret, Cecilia, Viola; brother, Rev. John Jewell.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 28, from 7-9 pm at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 29, at 10 am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. “Rest in Heaven with God, Mom, until we can all be together again. We love you Big!”
Mr. Russell Malcolm Spears
February 13, 1919 - October 29, 2007
SPEARS, Russell Malcolm - Passed away peacefully with his family at his side in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, on October 29, 2007. Born in Sheet Harbour Passage, he was a son of the late Malcolm and Minnie (Helpard) Spears. He spent most of his life living in Halifax. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lola (Woodward), Halifax; sister, Audrey (Cleveland), Watt Section; brother, Walter, Truro; sons, David (Norah), Lower Sackville, and Gary (Catherine), Halifax. Left to mourn are his grandchildren, Gregory (Cynthia), Boston, Mass.; Heather, Halifax; Kenneth, Halifax; Stuart, London, England, and Joshua, Halifax. He was predeceased by son, Richard; grandson, Robert (in infancy); sister, Gladys; brothers, Lionel, Gerald, Hugh, and Donald. Russell joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1940 and served as a shipwright in Sydney and in St. John's, N.L., with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. From 1946 he was employed with Sears Canada retiring in 1982. He was a fine wood craftsman as well as an artist and produced many artistic oil paintings in his retirement. He was a founding member of St. Philips Church, Halifax. Funeral service to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 1, in St. Philips Church, Bayers Road. Reception following the service. A private family committal will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Philips Church or Canadian Diabetes Association. The family thanks his friends and neighbours for their support and care during his illness. Appreciation is extended to staff and doctors of 8.2 who provided great comfort and care during Russell's last few days.
