Francis Chisholm
70, Halifax
Francis Xavier (Frank), 70, of Halifax, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2000, at home.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John and Kate (Ferguson) Chisholm.
He was a former long-time employee of Lawton Drug Stores and also a small business entrepreneur. Frank was a friend to all he came in contact with and will be sadly missed by relatives and friends alike.
He is survived by his wife, the former Joan Marie Howles; five step-daughters, Kerri (Wade) Slaunwhite, Karen (Barry) Pubilcover, Lynn (Jimmy) Parker, Lee Howles, all of Halifax, Lauren (Dennis) Doering, Barry, Ont.; two sisters, Nora (Stan) Brothers, Marguerite (Art) Higgins, both of North Sydney; two brothers, Joe (Clare) Chisholm, Riverview, N.B., John (Theresa) Chisholm, Calgary, Alta; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, the former of Lois O’Leary.
Cremation has taken place, under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2000 in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Dutch Village Road, Halifax, Rev. Fr. Owen Connolly is officiating.
Burial following in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Halifax. No visitations.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Following the interment, a reception will be held at 50 Coronation Ave., Halifax.
Thomas Hayward Collins
45, North Sydney
Thomas Hayward Collins, 45, a resident of Dartmouth, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000.
Born in Middleton, he was a son of Yvonne (Young) Collins of Dartmouth and of the late Wilson Collins. He attended Prince Andrew High School and St. Mary’s University.
Surviving besides his mother are a daughter, Courtney and son, Patrick, both of Dartmouth, and a brother, Christopher, Vancouver.
No visitation by request. Memorial service Tuesday 10 a.m. in St, Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Maple Street Dartmouth. Burial to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Mary (Aggie) Glogowski
79, Sydney Mines
Mary (Aggie) Glogowski passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2000, at home at 8 Prince Edward St., Sydney Mines, peacefully surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Jane (Hefferman) Norman.
Aggie was a lifetime member of Branch 008 Royal Canadian Legion, Sydney Mines. She was also a member of the Senior’s Day Care at Harbour View Hospital.
She is survived by sons, Frank (Zona), Ottawa, John (Carolyn), Lower Sackville, Leonard, West Bank, B.C.; daughters, Mae Cousins, Jean (Len) Finney, Patricia Ann (Sister) Bailey, Sheila Glogowski, Brenda (Harold) Bailey, with whom she resided, all from Sydney Mines. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Clarence McKinnon and her second husband, Frank, also by her brother, John Norman.
Visitation will be at G.R. Francis and Son Funeral Home, Saturday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church Sunday, July 2 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Gerald Dunphy officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.

Robert MacDonald
61, Dartmouth
Robert MacDonald, P.Eng (Retired), 61, of Dartmouth, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2000, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site.
Born in Tarbot, Victoria County, Cape Breton, he was the eldest son of the late Daniel and Madeline (Mosher) MacDonald.
He attended Mount Allison University and the Nova Scotia Technical College, graduating in 1961 with a bachelor of engineering (Civil). He was employed for 35 years with the Department of Transportation. He worked on the construction of Highways 101 and 105, the New Glasgow Bypass and Kelly Mountain Road, to name a few, before transferring to Halifax as senior planner, retiring in 1994 as chief engineer of services.
He was an avid golfer and a member of the Hartlen Point Golf Club for many years. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cribbage, gardening, reading and hockey, serving for many years on the board of directors of the Cole Harbour Minor Hockey Association, District 7 Ringette Association, and the Scot’s Colts Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club. He also volunteered for many years as a bingo caller for the Scotia Colts.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former Shirley Gillis; son, Robert Steven, New Westminster, B.C.; daughter, Gail Marie, Sudbury, Ont.; sister, Jody Pfenning (Ron), Long Island, N.Y.; brothers, Charles (Paula), North Sydney, Dane (Brenda), Sydney Mines, William, Tarbot and Mike (Merle), North Sydney.
He was predeceased by his brother, Malcolm.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Saturday, July 1, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, July 2. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, all in Atlantic Funeral Home and Chapel, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Interment to follow in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in the funeral home.
Family flowers only by request. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the QElI Health Sciences Centre.
Daniel Charles (Naily) Redquest
Sydney
Charlie Redquest, 73, of Kings Road, Sydney, passed away Friday, June 30, 2000, at home.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Dan and Catherine (MacLean) Redquest.
He was a member of St. Anthony Daniel Parish, Sydney. Charlie was employed with CNR for over 35 years retiring in 1984.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Hannah Power; three brothers, Ronald, Steve and Art; three step-brothers, Mike Redquest, Roddie Redquest and John MacDonald; three step-sisters, Mary MacMullin, Mary MacLeod and Isabel Brennan.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, July 4, 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Daniel Church, Rev. Leo Boone officiating. Burial to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Bras d’Or.
Donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or a charity of choice.
