Frances Biechele
New Waterford
Frances Biechele, 3610 Emerald St., New Waterford, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Scotchtown, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Schigut) O’Bracay.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Church, River Ryan. Mrs. Biechele helped her husband establish and manage a well-respected business that prospered for over 30 years. She was a gourmet chef and an ardent traveller. As a young woman, she displayed a creative interest in poetry and had one of her poems published in a local paper.
Surviving are daughters, Louise, New Waterford, Nilda (Jim) Shanahan, Sydney, Marlene, Halifax; one granddaughter, Leslie Shanahan MacNeil; great-grandchildren, Donald James and Catherine Shanahan MacNeil. Also surviving are extended family members, Irene O’Bracay and Katie Beaton, both of Scotchtown.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rudolf, infant son, Rudi, sisters, Otilia Krolichek and Mary Giebitz.
The late Mrs. Biechele will have no visitation as cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Homes, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2000, 6:30 p.m. in St. Michael’s Church, River Ryan.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances’ memory may be made to the N.S. Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Ronnie Campbell
80, Binghamton, N.Y.
Ronnie Campbell of Binghamton, N.Y., passed away on Monday, June 26, 2000, after a short illness.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Alex and Katie Campbell, 21 Currie St., Glace Bay.
Ronnie was a veteran of the Second World War, serving three years overseas with the Signal Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; daughter, Marilyn (Valask), Vermont and son; Kevin, Binghamton. Also surviving are two sisters, Agnes (Lit) Brown, Sydney and Anita Demetrick. Fremont, Calif.
Ronnie was predeceased by four brothers in Glace Bay, Douglas, Michael, Clayton and Joseph (Dody) and four sisters, Mary Morrison, Battle Creek, Mich., Chris Murphy, Halifax, Kathleen Calder, Montreal and Anna Emerson, Halifax.
Burial took place in Binghamton.
John Bell Clark
78, North Sydney
John Bell Clark, 78, a resident of Center Street, North Sydney, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Scotland, he was the son of the late Samuel and Catherine (Bell) Clark.
John worked as a painter until his retirement. He was a member of Branch No. 19 Royal Canadian Legion, North Sydney. He was an adherent of St. Giles Presbyterian Church, North Sydney.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lillian Haggett; six daughters, Glenda Bell Clark, Sydney, Diane (Mrs. Wayne Canavan), North Sydney, Marlene Clark, Vancouver, Josephine Clark, Vancouver, Valerie (Mrs. Jimmy Rideout), Sydney Mines and Della (Mrs. Joe Vaudin), Florence; two sons, Michael, North Sydney and Stewart (Katie), Brampton, Ont.; three sisters, Catherine (Rina) Richards, Sarah Tobin and Marion (May) Leroy, all of North Sydney; one brother, Reginald, Calgary; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Shirley and Carol and two brothers, Samuel and James.
Visitation will be held Monday, 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service to be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. from St. Giles Presbyterian Church, North Sydney with Rev. Murdock MacRae officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
We will love and miss him dearly.
John Dennis Jeddore
64, Eskasoni
John Dennis Jeddore, 64, of Eskasoni, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born at Eskasoni, he was the son of the late Joe and Mary Ann (Denny) Jeddore.
He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Eskasoni. John was a retired oil burner repairman and was an electrician by trade.
Surviving are his wife, the former Catherine (Marshall); two daughters, Rhenelda (Athanasius) Sylliboy and Rhonda, both of Eskasoni; three sons, Joe (Carol Ann), John and Skyler, all of Eskasoni; one brother, Simon, Eskasoni and nine grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one sister, Isabel in infancy.
The late Mr. Jeddore will have visitation Sunday after 7 p.m. in the family residence, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Church with Rev. Robert MacNeil officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Eskasoni.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel.
Agnes MacDougall
81, Sydney River
Agnes Marguerite B. MacDougall, 81, of 1711 Kings Rd., Sydney River, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2000.
Born in Whitney Pier, she was the daughter of the late Alexander A. and Mary Ann (Morrison) Campbell.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband, John Peter (Jack) in 1988.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Shauna (Mrs. Robert Monahan), Lower Sackville, N.S.
Agnes, a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River, was also an active member of the parish CWL.
She was a retired school teacher, having taught for 41 years throughout many areas of the Cape Breton District School Board.
She is also survived by one brother, Rod (Caroline) Campbell and six sisters, Veronica Campbell, who resided with Agnes in Sydney River, Mrs. Sadie Keough, Sydney River, Mrs. Mary Burke, Glace Bay, Genevieve (Mrs. Pierce Keough), Sydney, Theresa (Mrs. Basil Lewis), Sydney and Mrs. Margaret McNeil, New Aberdeen.
She was also predeceased by five sisters, Louise, Jessie, Martina, Marguerite and Sr. Coline Campbell, CND and one brother, Michael.
The late Mrs. MacDougall will have visitation tonight (Saturday) 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2000 at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Isobel MacIntyre
85, Sydney
Isobel MacIntyre, 85, Alexandra Street, Sydney, passed away, at home, Friday, July 14, 2000.
Born at Canoe Lake, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Peter and Margaret Ann (MacLean) Lynk.
Isobel was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Sydney.
Surviving are her daughter, Catherine Ann (Earl) Burke, grandsons, Matthew and Andrew, all of Sydney.
Isobel was predeceased by her husband, Lauchlin in 1997, son, Donald Alexander, sisters, Mary, Jessie and a sister in infancy, brothers, John, Neil, James F. and Donald J.
Visitation will be held in Sydney Memorial Chapel, Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel Sunday, 2 p.m. with Rev. Fraser MacDonald officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
