Stephen Joseph Corbett
74, New Jersey
Stephen Corbett of Runnemede, New Jersey, U.S.A, died in hospital in Runnemede following a lengthy illness.
Born in Conception Harbour, Nfld., he was the son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Ghaney) Corbett of Conception Harbour.
Stephen is survived by his wife, the former Vangie Mahoney of Sydney; and by sons, Michael (Linda) and Sean, both in Runnemede and by daughters, Darlene (Dwayne), Ohio, and Brenda (Tim), Pennsylvania. Also surviving are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Stephen was predeceased by his granddaughter, Shaylene and his son, Sean in infancy.
Cremation has taken place and interment will take place today (Wednesday) in Veteran’s Cemetery, New Jersey.

Albert Francis Crawley
67, Sydney
Albert Francis Crawley, 67, of Breton Bay Nursing Home, formerly of Whitney Pier, passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Tuesday, May 2, 2000.
Born in Sydney, Albert was a son of the late Patrick and Bridget (Brophy) Crawley.
He was an avid baseball player and retired after 35 years of service in the Open Hearth Department of Sysco. Albert was a member of Holy Redeemer Church.
Albert is survived by his daughters, Diane, South Bar, Denise (Robert) Porter, Sydney, Darlene (Alvin) Campbell, South Bar and Carol, Whitney Pier; sons, Albert Jr., Whitney Pier, Brian (Karen), Saskatchewan, and Wayne (Dawn), Welland, Ont.; sisters, Mamie (Ted) Libbey, Hillside, Mira, Germaine Makaronko, North Bay, Ont. and Patricia, Whitney Pier; brothers, Cy (Jean), Whitney Pier, Ronnie, Sydney, Terry (Jane), Whitney Pier and 13 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Joyce (Taylor) in 1997, a brother, Bill and a grandson, Joseph.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held in the chapel Friday, 2 p.m. with the Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Annie Matheson MacLeod
92, Orangedale
Annie Matheson MacLeod, 92, of Orangedale, Inverness County, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, in the Inverness Memorial Hospital, Inverness.
Born in Malagawatch, Inverness Co., she was a daughter of the late Roderick and Sarah (Matheson) MacKenzie.
She was a member of the Little Narrows and Orangedale Presbyterian Churches and played the organ for many years. She served on the Women’s Missionary Society, Ladies Aid and was active in other community organizations. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Malagawatch, Little Narrows, Estmere, Bucklaw, Aberdeen and retired from Inverness Consolidated. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survived by sons, Donald “D.W.” (Anna) Matheson, Little Narrows, J. Allister (Marion) Matheson, Blues Mills, Arnold (Catherine) Matheson, Whycocomagh, Norman Roy (Mary Belle) Matheson, Little Narrows; stepdaughters, Jesselyn (John) LeVesconte, West Bay, Sally (Archie) Chisholm, Orangedale; grandchildren, Kenzie, Sheldon, Paul, Evelyn, Florence, Aaron, Rodney and Ashley; step-grandchildren, Holly, Shelly, Leah, Kimberly, Allison; great-grandchildren, Krista, Katie, Brian, Tara, Isaac and Stacy.
She was predeceased by her first husband, John P. Matheson, second husband, Murdock MacLeod, sisters, Katherine MacKenzie, Colena Carmichael, Margaret MacKenzie and Jessie Sutherland, brothers, Frank, Donald, Rod, Neil and John Murdock.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today (Wednesday) and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Little Narrows Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Quincy Caldwell officiating. Burial in Little Narrows Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Little Narrows Presbyterian Church or the Orangedale Presbyterian Church.
On earth one gentle soul the less. In heaven one angel more.

Everett Roy Ryan Jr.
54, Toronto/Sydney
Everett Roy Ryan Jr., 54, of Toronto and Sydney, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Toronto.
He is survived by daughters, Kathy, Donna and Victoria, along with sons, Robert, Adam, and Markus, and sisters, Elaine and Lynette in Toronto and brother, Danny, Sydney.
He was predeceased by parents, Everett and Mary (Larick) Ryan and a brother, Albert.
Private services were held in Toronto.

Annie (Nancy) Tucker
81, North Sydney
Annie (Nancy) Tucker, age 81, a resident of Regent Street, North Sydney, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late James and Matilda (Osborne) Andrews.
Nancy worked in the dietary department at the Spring Garden Villa in Sydney, until retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in North Sydney and was also a member of the ladies auxiliary at the Northside Community Guest Home in North Sydney.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by two sons, Earl, Naples, Fla. and James (Ann Marie), Marlboro, Mass.; one daughter, Beulah Pepoli, Marlboro, Mass.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, two sons, Ross and Donald and one grandson, Kevin Ryan.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Hannem officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church or to a charity of choice.
Following the funeral service there will be a reception held at the Calvary Baptist Church, Beech Street, North Sydney.

Annie Myrtle Willis
85, Coxheath
Annie Myrtle Willis, 85, of Coxheath Road, passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Sunday, April 30, 2000.
Born in Sydney, Annie was the daughter of the late George and Rose (Strickland) Steele.
Annie is survived by her husband, William Cameron; daughters, Irene (John) Campbell and Marjorie (Neil) MacLean, both of Coxheath; sisters, Eleanor Andrews, Big Pond, Rosie Morrison, Ottawa and Zella Cameron, Sydney; brothers, Fred, Glace Bay, Freeman, Sydney River, Jack and Cecil, Westmount and Robert, Ontario; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy, Ethel and Shirley and brothers, Walter, Jim and Hubert.
Visitation will be held Sydney Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel, Wednesday, 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dale Irving officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
