Rhonda Nicholls
1954 - 2012

Nicholls, Rhonda Gail - passed away peacefully on Friday February 10, 2012 at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound in her 58th year. Loved and with great sadness she will be missed by her best friend Bev Henry and also will be sadly missed by her faithful canine companion Lucy. Predeceased by her father Ernest Nicholls. She is survived by her mother Joyce Nicholls and her brother Brent (Dana) and sister Valerie. At her request no funeral service will be held. A memorial gathering will take place on the evening of Wednesday February 15 from 7-9 PM at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341. Cremation has taken place. Rhonda had requested any memorial donations be made to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter.

Peter Akiwenzie
1951 - 2012

Akiwenzie, Peter - peacefully at his Cape Croker residence on Tuesday July 10, 2012. Peter Jerome Akiwenzie at the age of 61 years. Beloved husband of Donna (nee Keeshig). Cherished father of Carlene Keeshig (partner Ken Albert), Peter Akiwenzie, Jesse Akiwenzie, and Mike Akiwenzie; and grandfather of Morgan Ritchie, Jasper Akiwenzie, and Chase Akiwenzie. Brother of Brian, of Saskatchewan; Alex (wife Alice), of Cornwall; Giles "Randy" (wife Patricia), of Timmins; Andrea (husband William Chegahno), of Cape Croker; Christalee Akiwenzie, of Ottawa; Lisa Akiwenzie, of Cape Croker; and the late Denise (survived by her husband Mike Linklater), of Cape Croker. Predeceased by his parents Dennis and Lorene (nee Keeshig). Sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Peter was a man dedicated to his family and community. Peter's family invite you to gather with them for visitation from the family home (8 Chick's Rd., Cape Croker) on Wednesday afternoon from 4-8 pm; and from the Cape Croker Community Centre on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11 o'clock. Urbshott, Verna - of Wiarton, peacefully at Gateway Haven on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. The former Verna Irene Meadows at the age of 91 years. Loving wife of the late Ken Urbshott for over 49 years. Cherished mother of Shirley (Glen Allen), of Pike Bay; Rodger (Donna Lynn), of Southampton; Mel (Judy), of Wiarton; Donna (Larry Kavelman), of Bayfield; Nancy (Bill Angel), Larry (Jill), and Syl (Kim), all of Wiarton. Treasured grandmother of Reg jr., Dawn-Renee, Ken, Elizabeth, Jody, Shawn, Jeremy, Jenna, Jessica, Dan, Melanie, Tyler, Sarah, Andrew, Shelly, Becky, Katie, Brock, Shaye, and Cord; and great-grandmother of 25. Sister-in-law of Margaret Urbshott (late Jim), and Georgina Urbshott (late Fred). Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Gordon Urbshott; great-grandson William MacDonald Jewell; brothers Ivan Meadows (late Sophie), and Mel Meadows (late Geraldine); and sister Evelyn (late Frank Kufflick); and brothers and sisters-in-law Herman Urbshott (late Doris), and Helen (late Syl Beith). Verna was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 208 Ladies Auxiliary, Wiarton. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519)534-5341 on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 6-9 PM, where a service to celebrate Verna's life will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Keith Kerr
1948 - 2012

Kerr, Keith - of Wiarton, and formerly of Owen Sound, suddenly on Friday, June 1, 2012. Robert Keith Kerr at the age of 63 years. Devoted husband to the late Carol Ann Middlebrook for 17 years. Loving step-father of Joe Kerr, of Wiarton, and Shane Landry, of Port Elgin. Greatly missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially Justice and Brennan Landry. Son of Bev and Bernice Kerr, of Wiarton. Caring brother of Rick (Jeanette), of Owen Sound, John (Jean Ann), of Poplar Hill, Jim (Carol), of Wiarton, Sharon (Jeff Dupuis), of Maryhill, and Dan (Sandi), of Kitchener. Sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his step-son Paul Landry. Keith was a true entrepreneur, and humble, active member of his community, whose greatest love was his family, especially his two grandchildren who he proudly raised. Esther Shirley
1921 - 2012

Shirley, Esther - of Wiarton and formerly of Orangeville, peacefully at Gateway Haven, in Wiarton, on Sunday, May 27, 2012. The former Esther Louise Amos at the age of 91 years. Loving mother of Paul and his wife Nicole, of Hepworth, Philip and his wife Anne Chambers, of London, and Doug and his wife Judy, of Toronto. Cherished grandmother of Ryan Shirley, Natalie and her husband Tyler Hardacre, Crystal Shirley and her partner Derek Young, Ben Shirley, Cassie and her husband Dave Smith, and Courtney and her husband Jeff Berezny. Predeceased by her devoted husband Ward (1999); and her sisters and brothers Muriel Walker, Austin Amos, Gerald Amos, and Marjorie Daman. Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Esther was a ray of sunshine in every life she touched and will be forever remembered for her love of family and tireless work in the United Church. Bruce Hepburn
1947 - 2012

Hepburn, Bruce - of Wiarton, suddenly on May 14, 2012 at 64 years of age. Son of the late Lorne and Ioleen Hepburn. Lovingly missed by his son Trevor and partner Pam; and by his two grandchildren Kylie and Colton. Deeply missed by his best friend Penny Gerow. So long as we love, we serve. So long as we are loved by others, I would almost say we are indispensible And no man is useless while he has a friend. Never take away hope from any human being. Also missed by Bonnie and family, and all your friends and colleagues from school and your group meetings. Never to be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. Carlyle Hyatt
1924 - 2012

Hyatt, James Carlyle - of Oliphant, passed away peacefully at the Southampton Care Centre, on Wednesday September 19, 2012 in his 89th year. Dear brother of Emma Reddoch, of Toronto; Ida White, of Omemee; Joyce Porter, of Owen Sound; and Bernice Pew (Peter), of Oliphant. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents James and Bertha (Renshaw) Hyatt; sisters Shirley Lemcke, Laura Hahn, and Eva Crush; and brother John David, who died in infancy. In respect to his wishes, cremation has taken place, with interment in the family plot in Balsam Grove cemetery , Oliphant. If so wished, donations to the Wiarton Hospital or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. There will be a memorial service at the Oliphant Pioneer Methodist Church on Saturday September 29 at 1:30 pm, followed by a reception at the Oliphant Women's Institute across the road. Loving wife of almost 40 years to the late Wayne Craig (2006). Devoted mother of sons Wayne Jr., of Pike Bay, and Jason (Kim), of Brampton. Dearest grandma of Rebecca. Beloved sister of Carol (Howard) Sneath, of Orillia and Janice (Martin) Hyde, of Toronto. Sadly missed by brothers-in-law Jim, and Gary; her many nieces and nephews; and good friends Pete and Vera, Nancy, and Jill. Predeceased by her parents Stanley and Ethel; sisters-in-law Rosalie and Betty; and good friend Angela. Cremation has taken place. Proud mom to Laura McCulloch (partner Edwin Streicher), of New Liskeard; Jennifer and her husband Scott Roswell, of Harriston; Cindy McCulloch (partner Geoff Lamon), of Teeswater; and Maryann McCulloch (partner Brad Cadeau), of Meaford. Cherished grandmother of Savannah, Destiny, Olivia and Prudence. Dear daughter of Art and Janet Pommer, of Listowel; daughter-in-law of Roy McCulloch and the late Martha; sister of Peter (partner Carol Kauth), of St. Paul's; and sister-in-law of Patricia and her husband Mike Smith, of Kincardine, Louise Martin (partner Ken Adams), of Southampton, Velma McCulloch, of Owen Sound, and Penny and her husband Murray Currie, of Allenford. The former Agnes Barbara Chapman at the age of 82 years. Loving wife and best friend to Harvey for over 64 years. Devoted mother to Larry and his partner Cindi Follington, of Wiarton; Dawn and her husband Ken Hepburn, of Port Elgin; and Randy and her husband Bob Walpole, of Clavering. Proud Nana of Tanya Williamson (partner Troy Barfoot), Debbie Williamson (partner David Van Der Wielen), Laura and her husband Grey Ritchie, Jonathan Williamson; Jennifer Hepburn, Scott Hepburn (partner Aurora) and Kris Walpole and his wife Krista. Great-Nana of Amber, Brandon, Paige, Megan, Marissa, Tessa, Baylan, and Brady. Sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Beatrice; brother Harvey; sisters Charmaine, Dorothy and Pauline. Barb was a proud member of the Blue Bell Women's Institute.
