Don Kirkland
1936 - 2003

Kirkland, Donald “Don” - peacefully, with his family at his side, at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound on Sunday, September 21, 2003. Donald David Kirkland, of Hepworth, in his 68th year. Loving husband of the former Jean Richards. Cherished father of Terry and his wife, Joyce, of RR#3 Allenford; Larry and his wife, Karen Ann, of Owen Sound; and Lori and her husband, Gary Shipley, of Hepworth. Dear grandfather of Tyler, Kaley, Leah, Kara, Isaac, Connor, Quinn, Tessa, Melanie, Bradley and Brandon. Brother of Ray Kirkland (Shirley), of Sauble Beach. Sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, James and Elizabeth; a brother, Ralph; a sister, Jean Rodgers; and one daughter. Don was a long-standing member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Hepworth, the Allenford Curling Club, Grey Bruce Rod and Gun Club, Sauble Golf and Country Club, and the Wednesday Night Card Group. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach, on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Don's life will be conducted from the Zion Amabel United Church in Sauble Beach at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rev. Jack Fearnall will officiate. Interment in Zion cemetery , Hepworth. As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church, Hepworth, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Allenford Curling Club would be appreciated. A Red Maple tree will be planted at the funeral home in memory of Don.

Ron Follis
1949 - 2004

Follis, Ronald “Ron” - with his family at his side at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Friday, December 3, 2004. Ronald George Follis of Wiarton, in his 55th year. Father of Ron and his partner Mary Martin, and Mike, all of Bognor; and Chris and his partner Mary Ann Brown, of Wiarton. Brother of Carol, of Lincoln Park; Ken, Gary, and Sheila, all of Owen Sound; Donna, and John, both of Tara; and Jim, of Barrie. Son of Shirley Jones and the late George Follis. Sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. A Celebration of Ron's Life will be conducted from the chapel of the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock with visiting one hour prior to service. Cremation. As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Thameswood Lodge or Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. Dilworth, Baby Joshua - peacefully at home in the arms of his mom and dad on Monday, January 17, 2005. Baby Joshua James Dilworth at the age of two months. Cherished baby son of Jason and Judith Dilworth, of Wiarton. Beloved grandson of Jake Neustaeter and Marie Neufeld, of Edmonton; and Jim and Helen Dilworth, of Wiarton. Great-grandson of Ella Chester, of Lion's Head; Peter and Helen Neustaeter, and Helen Neufeld, all of La Crete, Alberta. Joshua will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cherished mother of George Panagopoulos and his wife Mary, of Sauble Beach. Much loved grandmother of Maggie and her husband Jerry Alfieri, Andrea and her husband Jim Gianakopoulos, Harry Karacoulia and his wife Zoe, and Magdalena and her husband Staphanos Anagyrou. Great-grandmother of Hanna. Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Stathis, daughters Victoria Panagopoulos and Litsa Karacoulia, two brothers and two sisters. Baker, Mary Doris - peacefully with her loving family at her side at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound on Tuesday, January 9th 2007. The former Mary Doris Osborne of Owen Sound at the age of 64. Loving wife of the late Kenneth Baker (2002). Cherished mother of Diane (Brian Cooke) of Toronto; Kenny of Lucknow; Paul (Holly) of Kitchener; Shelley Buchanan (Neil) of Wiarton; and David of Owen Sound. Caring grandmother to Dewayne, Denelle, Kirsten and Dylan. Devoted sister of Carl Osborne, Bill Osborne (Cathy), Ruby (Arnold Hodgkinson), Warren Osborne (Harlene), Brian Osborne (Lynda), Kenny Osborne (Norma), Larry Osborne (Nancy), Sherry Robinson (Harold), Shannon (Donnie Willis), all of Owen Sound; Darlene (Ivan Kirk), of Sauble Beach; Terry Osborne (Denise), of B.C.; and Sharon Henry, of Wiarton. Sadly missed by her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by her parents Carl and Doris Osborne. In keeping with Mary’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Mary’s sister-in-law Lorraine Baker, Dr. Tisher and the staff of the Owen Sound Hospital for their unending care and compassion. Bernice Laird
1919 - 2007

Laird, Bernice Valerie - peacefully at Gateway Haven, Wiarton on Friday morning, January 5th 2007 in her 88th year. Bernice Laird (nee Zomerfelt) beloved wife of the late George Laird. Loving mother of Mary Jane Monahan and her husband John and Roberta Ryan and her husband Doug. Loving grandmother of Lori and Lisa Monahan and Alicia and Chris Ryan. Special friend of Alvin Ward and family. Bernice was Born July 4th, 1919 in Duluth, Minnesota to parents John and Victoria Zomerfelt. Predeceased by her older brother Walter and his wife Evelyn. Beloved sister of Raymond Zomerfelt and his wife Donna of Duluth, Minnesota. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in the United States, and by nephew in law Lloyd Wagner and his wife Alice of Owen Sound, and their family Robert Wagner and Andrea Laing. Bernice was a cheerful and familiar face to the residents of the Bruce Peninsula and area, because of her many years serving in retail business and through her volunteer work in the community. “The greatest reward for serving others is the satisfaction found in your heart.” Friends may call at the Thomas C. Wright, Roy Edward - WWII Veteran Peacefully at Gateway Haven in Wiarton on Sunday, December 10, 2006. Roy Edward Wright at the age of 92 years. Loving husband of the former Audrey Heath. Cherished father of Joanne (late Stanley) Thomas, of St. Mary's; Donna Steip, of St. Thomas; Barbara (Allan) Gilbert, of Wiarton; Betty (Robert) Lawrence, of Sarnia; Paul Wright, of Oakville; and Connie Stewart (Daryl McCartney), of Wiarton. Much loved grandfather of Steven, David, Allan, Jeff, Peter, Allana, Becky, Carey, Tiedra, Hollie, and Brice. Great-grandfather of Jackson, Mitchell, Adam, Amanda, Colin, Dylan, Emily, Ethan, Glenn, Michal, Quiaden, Levi, and Joshua. Dear brother of Lloyd, Orville (Martina), Gladys (Allan) Perch, Lilian Taylor, Mary (Zeke) Myles, all of Wiarton, and Jim, of Mississauga. Roy will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Rose; brothers Albert 'Teeny' and Stanley 'Turk'; and sister, Shirley Ebel. Roy brought clean drinking water to many families through Stan Wright & Co. Well Drillers and served his community as a Volunteer Firefighter for many years. Ritchie, Lincoln “Pops” – passed away in London on Tuesday, October 24th, 2006. Lincoln Harry Ritchie of Saugeen First Nation in his 65th year. Beloved husband of the late former Alberta Thompson. Cherished father of Louise Ritchie, of Vermont; and Phillip Ritchie, of Saugeen. Much loved grandfather of Danielle Price and Patrick Ritchie. Brother of Frank Shawbedees, of Saugeen. Uncle of Barry, Ben, Dean, Pedobnoque (Ann), Judy, Carl, Linda, Marie, Randy, Guy and Cheryl; and great-uncle to Susan and Silas. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Anna, and a brother Carl. Friends may call at the family residence at 6382 Hwy. 21, Saugeen First Nation on Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Sanders, Ian – peacefully with his family at his side at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound on Wednesday, October 25, 2006. Ian Sanders of Sauble Beach in his 75th year. Loving husband and best friend of the former Ann Holm. Cherished father of Cathy (Rob), Carolyn (Mat), and Christine (Chris). Grandfather of Renate, Sophie, Portia, Matthew, Jessica and Parker. Ian is survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by his parents Roy and Edna. Bernice Ellenora Pienta
1927 - 2006

Pienta, Bernice Ellenora September 30, 1927 ~ October 18, 2006 It is with great sadness that the family of Bernice Pienta announces her passing. She was a companion and life-long partner to her husband Stanley. A devoted mother and friend to Gail, Jacqueline, and Sherry (husband Dennis). She was a devoted Nana to her four grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Bernice was a survivor - beating leukemia and breast cancer. She bravely succumbed to lung and brain cancer. Bernice was an inspiration to all who met her. Bernice had an uplifting spirit and great sense of humour. She will be loved, missed and never forgotten by all those who were touched by her heart. Cremation has taken place. At the request of the family, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Bernice and can be made through the funeral home.
