FOX, John F. (Jack) - Peacefully, at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus, with his family present, on Tuesday, July 9, 2002, in his 90th year. Jack was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 229, Elora, having served overseas for five years and being present on D-Day with the Highland Light Infantry of Canada. Jack enjoyed raising his family and farming in Pilkington township for over 30 years and moved to Elora in 1969 where he worked for the Elora Gorge Park. Loved and missed by his wife, Beth (Betty) Kilpatrick of 63 years. Dad will be missed by Doug Fox (Judy) of RR 4, Listowel, Marian Fox-Troup of RR 1, Durham and Bill Fox (Cathy) of Drayton. Papa will be remembered by Janet, Wendy, Douglas, Bill, Jennifer, Jenny, Peter and Jeff and his seven great-grandchildren. Jack was recently reunited with his only surviving sister, Betty Rose Pitcher of Stoke Row, England after 60 years. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and several brothers and sisters in England. Friends and relatives may call at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 37 Church St., Elora on Thursday, July 11, 2002 (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A legion memorial service will be held at the funeral home this evening (Thursday) at 6:45 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Mark Waugh on Friday, July 12, 2002 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home. Interment in Elora cemetery. Reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Groves Memorial Hospital or the Poppy Fund as expressions of sympathy and may be made by contacting the funeral home at 846-5352.

SLOAN, William Benson - At Caressant Care Nursing Home, Harriston, on Monday, June 17, 2002, in his 92nd year. Loved father of Debbie Crehange and Mimi Mottola, both of France and the late Francine Sloan; dear grandfather of David Sloan, Paul Crehange, Charlotte Motolla, Louise Crehange and Marie Mottola; brother of Harold of London and Ross of Peterborough. Predeceased by his brothers Bert, Clarence and Mel and sisters Marge McGregor and Alma Hall. William was a Lance Corporal in the Canadian Army, serving in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe from 1942-1945. He was also a longtime employee of the Guelph Stove Company. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, June 22, from 9-10:30 a.m. Funeral on Saturday in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family

MORANT, William S. (Bill) - The family of William S. (Bill) Morant, sadly announce his passing, on Wednesday, June 26, 2002, in his 89th year. Dear husband of Erica Morant of Guelph. He will be sadly missed by his son, Paul Morant and wife Joanne of Guelph and his daughter, Elizabeth Morant and husband Brian of Ottawa. Loving grandfather of Karl and Jason of Guelph and Willem of Ottawa; great-grandfather of Brandon and Nicholas. Also survived by a sister, Bertha Bittl and a nephew, Norbert, all of Germany. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Jean Mitchell officiating. (Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre). Memorial contributions to St. George's Anglican Church, 99 Woolwich St., Guelph, N1H 3V1 would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of William Morant in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph, Arboretum. Dedication service Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at 2:30 p.m.

CARERE, Maria Grazia - Surrounded by her loving children, at Guelph General Hospital, on Wednesday, June 26, 2002, Maria Grazia (Silivestro) Carere, in her 69th year. Beloved wife of the late Annunziato Carere (1979). Loving mother of Angela and her husband Guido Gazziro, Oreste Carere, Ron Carere and his wife Joy, Giulio Carere, Nancy and her husband Steve Campbell, Domenic Carere and his wife Jennifer Zandbergen, Antonio Carere and his wife Trish and Rosemarie and her husband Jim Blacklock. Proud Nonna of Koelton, Cassandra, Alexander, Nadia, Kayla, Danielle, Aaron, Matthew, Allison, Amelia and of three step-grandchildren, Steven, Shannon and Ryan. Dear sister of Domenic, Rocco and Giuseppe Silivestro, all of Rochester, N.Y. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Annunziata and Michelle Silivestro. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home and Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph where the family will receive friends today Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Maria will be held this evening (Friday) at 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 10 a.m. Interment Marymount cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Drop-in-Centre or to the Hamilton Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
McLEAN, Douglas Grant - Of Guelph, passed away at Guelph General Hospital, Friday, July 5, 2002, in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Helen (Paddock). Grant was the son of the late Douglas and Hazel McLean. Dear brother of Kenneth (Agnes) McLean, Gordon (Marjorie) McLean, all of Guelph and Ruth Ann (Ronald) Charlton of Brantford; brother-in-law of Isabelle (Walter) Duerksen of Aberfoyle, John Roy (Carolyn) Paddock of Guelph, Blanche (Bruce) Mayer of Los Angeles. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Grant was an Elder of the Session (Knox Presbyterian Church), a member of the Guelph Wellington Men's Club, the Alma Lodge #72 A.F. & A.M. G.R.C. (Cambridge) and the A.A.S.R. (Scottish Rite). Friends will be received at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home and Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, today (Monday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 20 Quebec St., Guelph, Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Thomas Kay officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment Crown cemetery , Puslinch. Memorial contributions to a charity of choice would be appreciated. OLSEN, Margrete Kristine - Passed away, in her 94th year, suddenly, at Chelsey Park Nursing Home, London on Wednesday, July 3, 2002. Predeceased by her husband, Neils Peter Otto Olsen (1996). Loving mother of Harrie Jay of St. Joseph's and Neils Peter and his wife Wanda of Guelph. Special grandma to David Jay and his wife Joanne and Karen and her husband Ed of London, David Neils and his wife Nicole and Sarah and her fiance Jim of Windsor; great-grandma of Zakery, Jesse, Ali, Chloe and Logan. Predeceased by her sister, Moussa of Denmark and daughter-in-law, Eva. There will be no funeral home visitation or service. Cremation took place at Woodland cemetery , London. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. KEITH, J. Evelyn - At Guelph General Hospital, on Sunday, June 9, 2002, Evelyn (Waterhouse) Keith, at the age of 91 years. Beloved wife of the late Glen E. Morris (1936) and William H. Keith (1965). Loved mother of Marilyn Spalding of Penticton, B.C., Anne Watt and her husband Alan of Richmond, B.C. Dear sister of Mrs. Darlene Henderson of Fort Erie and the late Dr. David W. Waterhouse (1990). Predeceased by her son-in-law, Bob Spalding (1990). Always remembered by her five grandsons; two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; four nieces; her nephew; five great-nephews; three great-nieces; her great-great-nephew and three great-great-nieces. A memorial service will be held at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL-McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi St., Guelph on Saturday, June 15 at 12 noon with The Rev. Thomas J. Kay officiating. A reception will follow in the Trillium Room of the Funeral Home. Cremation with inurnment has taken place at Woodlawn cemetery. CARROLL, Colin - After a lengthy battle with PSP, at the age of 69, our beloved Colin passed away, on June 25, 2002, with all his loved ones by his side. He will be sadly missed by June, his loving wife of 48 years; his sons, Steven, Stuart, David; his daughter, Sara; daughters-in-law, Elaine and Sona. His grandchildren, Adam, Vickie, Tammy, Mackenzie, Alex and Ashley. His sisters, Betty, Agnes and their families. Sister-in-law, Bridgette and family. His many friends and his buddy Edgar. EBERHARDT, Gwendolyn Myrtle - passed away peacefully, at Freeport Health Centre, Kitchener, on Tuesday, June 25, 2002. Gwendolyn Myrtle (nee Roberts) Eberhardt, in her 73rd year, was the wife of the late Bruce Carmen Eberhardt. She was the dear mother of Bruce and his wife Gloria of Kitchener, Roy of Ottawa, Marlene, Patty and her husband Brad Stirling, Judy and her husband Rod McDermid and Jeff, all of Guelph. Gwen is fondly remembered by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is survived by four siblings, John, June, Joan and Pauline. The family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home and Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Thursday, June 27, 2002 (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, June 28, 2002 at 11 a.m. Interment Memory Gardens, Breslau.
