RESSEL, Emily (nee Zabka)
RESSEL, Emily (nee Zabka) In loving memory of Emily Ressel, 83 years of Sudbury, who passed away Thursday morning December 19, 2002 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. She was born in Czechoslovakia and married Joseph Ressel in Sudbury in 1944. Emily came to Sudbury in 1931. She was a devout Roman Catholic who attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and now Our Lady of Hope Church. She and her husband actively participated in the ministries and fellowship of the parish. She was an avid gardener and an accomplished embroidery stitchery creating beautiful cutwork, tablecloths and linens. A well respected and liked neighbour, she was happiest in her home which she cared for with pride and attentiveness. A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, the focus of her life was her family. It is appropriate during the season of Advent that this wonderful woman of faith is reunited with her husband in Heaven. Truly the coming of Christ’s light defeats the darkness of Emily’s death. Beloved wife of Joe Ressel predeceased October 16, 2001. Loving mother of Veronica (husband Mel Blacker) of London and James of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Jon (wife Laura) and Melanie. Dear daughter of John and Mary Zabka both predeceased. Dear sister of Kristina Babulic of Sudbury, predeceased by John and Joseph. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan St., Sudbury Saturday, December 21, 2002 at 12 noon. Interment in the Park Lawn Crematorium. Prayers 3 pm Friday. Donations to the Heart and Soul Campaign or Sudbury Community Service Center would be appreciated. McANDREW, Charles P. At his home in Oshawa, Ontario on Saturday, December 21, 2002, in his 56th year. Born in Sudbury, Ontario to the late Honorable Patrick J. McAndrew and his wife Irene (nee Frawley), he lived his adult life in Southern Ontario. Father to Jason of San Francisco, James of Vancouver and Kaitlin of Los Angeles. He will be remembered by brothers Darcy and Gerrard of Sudbury and John of Toronto. A service attended by family and friends was held on Friday, December 27, 2002 at the McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME in Oshawa.

McPHEE, John Anselm "Ansie" In loving memory of John Anselm "Ansie" McPhee 92 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Sunday morning, January 12th, 2003 at his home. Beloved son of Alexander and Katherine (Bethune) McPhee both predeceased. Loving brother of Sandy (wife Pearl) and Gertrude Monaghan (husband Herbert predeceased) both of Garson, Kay McInnis (husband Ninian predeceased) and Anne Gauthier (husband Eugene precedeceased) both of Sudbury, predeceased by Alex (wife Alice), Mary Vinette (husband Joe), and John (wife Jacqueline). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, and special nephew Geoffrey. Ansie worked as a miner at Falconbridge Mine for 46 years. He was de- dicated and devoted member of 50 years to A.A. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St. Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Garson, Tuesday, January 14th, 2003 at 10 am. WADGE, Doreen Norma Riley Peacefully at Briar Crest, Toronto, on Sunday, December 29, 2002 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Norman Hilton Wadge. Caring and dear mother of Lynne and her husband Peter Hamilton of Vancouver, and Allison and Janice of Toronto, and proud grand- mother of Lindsay and Erin Hamilton of Toronto. A special aunt to Wanda. A gracious lady and a remarkable woman of keen intellect and indomitable spirit. Veteran, Lieutenant, Canadian Women’s Army Corp; life member of the United Church Women, former President of the Wives’ Association of the Engineering Institute of Canada; and former member of the Women’s Association of the Mining Industry of Canada. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 9 at 2 pm. at Rosedale United Church, 159 Roxborough Drive, Toronto. The family will receive friends at a reception in the Church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the T.L.C. (The Land Conservancy of British Columbia), 5793 Old West Saanich Road, Victoria, BC V9E 2H2. A memorial service will be held at Knox United Church in Vancouver at a later date. Loving mother of Richard Voz (wife Rollande), Robert Voz (wife Carole) and Randy Voz (wife Artina) all of Sudbury, Sylvia Grandmaison (husband Robert "Bob") and Kennedy Voz (wife Sandra) all of Ottawa. Dear sister of Lucille Prévost-Savarie (husband Lucien predeceased and Rolland) of Sudbury, Marcel (wife Jeanne) and Georges (wife Françoise) all of Blezard Valley, Claude (wife Laurette predeceased, Suzanne), Hélène Lemay (husband Gilles) and Lorraine St-Germain (husband Daniel) all of Sudbury, Ubald Rainville (wife Hélène) of Azilda and Irene Prévost (husband Jean-Paul) of Estaire. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Léonne Prévost-Ducharme (husband Jean-Paul predeceased, husband Rolland "Bob") of Québec, Gérald Rainville (wife Béatrice predeceased), Raymond (wife Mariette of Sudbury). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her 16 grandchildren Crystal, Jason, Amy, Cory, Shanelle, Josée, Justin, Joshua, Charles, Dominic, Benjamin, Renée, Zachary, Alix, Kennedy, Jennifer. Jeannine’s greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren, and helping anyone in need. She was a member of the "Club Amical" and "Club Joie de Vivre" and the "Club d’Age d’Or" La Toussaint. Mrs. Langevin enjoyed playing card games and bowling. Snug was born and raised in Creighton. He was a foreman at Creighton Mine having over 30 years service at INCO. A devout Roman Catholic he attended St. Pisu X Church in Lively. Snug’s love and devotion for his family and friends were shown through his quiet and gentle ways. Heartfelt appreciation for the continued home care and support of Snug to Dr. Duncan and Mrs. Fran McMillan, assisted by their children Steven, Frank and Christina, and much gratitude to the V.O.N. support staff for their care and compassion. MENSOUR, Sam It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a true gentleman, Sam Mensour. Sam passed away peacefully at his residence on December 20 after a short illness at the age of 91. He was born January 17, 1911 at Blind River, Ontario to Stephen and Eva Mensour both predeceased. Sam was raised in Toronto before moving to Sudbury in 1933. He had a wonderful life with his wife and best friend of 62 years, Camillia Michael (predeceased 1998). A great father to Stephen (Anne-Marie, predeceased), Michael (Patricia), Margaret (Ken Rivers) and Catherine (Robert Marinier). Jiddoo (grandfather) to Mary Lynne, Mark (Paula), Michael, Melanie and Mitch. Great grandfather to Emma and Meagan. Sadly missed by his sisters Emeline and Marion and his brothers Michael and Albert. Sam was predeceased by his sister Jean and his brothers John, Eli and Sodie. A very respected businessman Sam founded and operated Mensour Furniture for 23 years. In all of his dealings, he was admired for his honesty, kindness and integrity. A very spiritual man, Sam shared a life philosophy of peace and love that transcended all that he did. He was an active member of Christ the King Church for 69 years. A man of devout faith he led a selfless life. His many acts of charity over the years have touched the lives of family and strangers alike. The family would like to thank Dr. Krawzcuk for his kindness and friendship, Gail and Doug Stickle for their support and Silvana Simeoni for being much more than a loyal employee. A very special thanks to Margaret for her exceptional care of our father. "Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth." McGREGOR, Donald Gregor
McGREGOR, Donald Gregor, Dec 17, 1931 - Dec 20, 2002 In loving memory of Donald Gregor McGregor Sr., of Whitefish River First Nation, Birch Island who passed on to the Spirit World on Friday, December 20, 2002 at the Manitoulin Health Centre at the age of 71 years. Known for his gentle spirit and kind sense of humour, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, bingo and home projects. He worked with E.B. Eddy for 20 years before retiring in 1996. He also served several terms as Councillor on the Whitefish River Band Council and was the President of St. Gabriel’s Parish Council for many years. He was honoured as an Elder and Eagle Staff Carrier of Whitefish River First Nation. He was of the Eagle Clan and his Ojibway name he proudly carried was Ogimas, given to him by his father when he was a young lad. He played many years with the Sheguiandah Bears and was an avid supporter of minor hockey. Much beloved husband of 41 years and best friend of Mary Grace (nee Manitowabi). Loving and cherished father of Lucy Ann (husband Donald Trudeau) of Blind River, Patty (husband Leon Lightning) of Alberta, Donald Jr. (wife Sandrah), Kiki (husband Stephen Pelletier) of Birch Island and Christopher Wahsquonaikezhik (wife Carol) of Sudbury. Proud and very loving grandfather of Donnelley, Kigen, Akeshia, Paskwawmostosis, Donald, Asiniyawasis, Anthony, Kihiwawasis, Kiana Rae, Waasnode, Christina, Charles and Christopher. Survived by sisters Lillian McGregor of Toronto, Shirley McGregor of Birch Island and brother Peter McGregor of Nova Scotia and brother-in-law Roman Bilash. Also survived by brothers-in-law David Manitowabi (friend Linda), Ron Manitowabi (wife Nikki), Dominic "Peak" Manitowabi (friend Brenda) and sisters-in-law Veronica Jacko (husband Andrew), Medora Hicks (husband Donald) and Rose Gauvreau (husband Gordon). Predeceased by parents Augustine and Victoria McGregor and in-laws David and Agatha Manitowabi. Also predeceased by brothers Robert E. McGregor, Allan A. McGregor and sisters Mary Jocko, Colleen Font, Estelle Cywink, Violet Bonadio and Olive McGregor, and sister-in-law Shirley Manitowabi McKay. He was also a special uncle to 67 nieces and nephews. Resting at the Whitefish River Community Centre. Funeral Mass in St. Gabriel’s Lalemant Church, Birch Island Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at 11:00 am. Fr. Mike Stogre officiating.
