LAVOIE, Hermance B. (nee D’Anjou) In loving memory of Hermance Lavoie, 71 years of Cartier, who passed away Tuesday, evening, December 17, 2002 at her residence, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving family at her side. She was born in St. Gabriel de Kamouraska, Quebec and married Paul Lavoie in 1959 in St. Gabriel, Quebec. Hermance moved to Ramsay in 1959 from Quebec settling in Cartier in 1974. She was a Roman Catholic who belonged to St. Francois Xavier Church. In healthier days she sang in the parish choir. She was a member of the 50 Plus Club. An avid flower gardner she enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, camping, and travelling. Hermance will be remembered as a generous and caring person who was quick to help others. The light of her life dispelled the darkness of her disease and she inspired all who knew her. She was devoted to her family who she leaves a rich legacy of love, determination, and courage. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Beloved wife of Paul Lavoie of Cartier. KENNEDY, Robert A. "Bob" In loving memory of Robert Kennedy, 81 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Thursday evening December 19, 2002 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph’s Health Center. He was born in North Bay and married Betty (Daly) in 1953 in North Bay. Bob Kennedy started as a letter carrier in North Bay in 1941. In 1942 he became a postal clerk and rose, by 1950, to be assistant postmaster in Kapuskasing. His career then cycled through a number of important operational positions in northern Ontario, to appointment in 1970 as area postmaster in Sudbury. There, he introduced mechanized mail sorting. In 1983, Bob was appointed Project Officer in Sudbury for the Rideau Division. He retired in 1984 after 45 years of varied service, contributing to the movement of the nation’s mails. Bob Kennedy’s numerous communtiy services include being active in his church; credit union; Chamber of Commerce; Knights of Columbus; fund-raising for charities, meals on wheels. Hobbies are wine-making, trailering and travel in general. Beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty’ (Daly) Kennedy of Sudbury. Loving father of Michael of Toronto, Patty Mearini and Anne Osburn (husband Kevin) both of Sudbury, Tim of Edmonton, Brian (wife Debra) of Bedford N.S. and Mary Catherine Nicoll (husband Scott) of Keswick. BÉLANGER, Jean-Paul J.P. was a devoted and loving husband, as well as an exceptional and gentle father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Son of the late Adrien Bélanger and of the late Evelyne Bélanger (née Seguin). Beloved husband of Ida Bélanger (née Leroux) of Chelmsford. He leaves behind his children Pauline (husband Dave Bonneville), Richard (wife Royanne), Camile (wife Lise), Sylvie (husband Ted Moore) and André all of Chelmsford, Colette (husband Bob Ferguson) and Daniel (friend Geraldine Carson) both of Sudbury. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his 14 grandchildren and his 6 1/2 great-grandchildren. During his early years, he worked as a driller for INCO. He later became a respected entrepreneur and a successful businessman. Leaving the business world, he spent his semi-retirement working summers at Halfway Lake Provincial Park and vacationing winters in Florida with Ida his loving wife and faithful companion of 59 years. J.P.’s sense of humour and willingness to help made him a friend to everyone he met. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Predeceased by her brothers, Albert (wife Agnès predeceased), Dorina Landry (husband Armand predeceased), Lucien (wife Colombe pre-deceased), René (Aline Schubert of Toronto), Adrien (wife Florabelle predeceased) and by her sister Marie-Reine Marshall (husband Michel predeceased). Special mom to Larry Choquette (wife Marie-Anne) of Yellowknife. Mrs. Deschamps was a very religious person who was proud to serve as a member of the 3rd Ordre of St. Francis, a member of the CWL at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, as well as a former member of "Les Dames de Ste Anne" and a member of the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and creating crafts. Yvonne loved to play bingo and to play cards, especially "500". She will also be remembered for her skills in gardening.
