WINCHESTER, Edward (Eddie) Allan
WINCHESTER, Edward (Eddie) Allan In loving memory of Edward Allan Winchester, early Saturday morning, May 3rd, 2003, at his residence in Killarney. He is survived by Amy, Alan and Nancy all currently residing in Australia, Louise of Kingston, companion Anna Ouellette, his sisters Helena Crossman, Ida Rice of the East Coast, three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Edward (Eddie) was born in Belmont, Prince Edward Island, July 30, 1921. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II running convoys in the North Atlantic. After his discharge in 1945 he started a Painting/Decorating business in Sudbury. He was past president of the Painters Association and the Sudbury Construction Association. He loved boats and boating on the Georgian Bay. His last years were spent in Killarney where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and beautifully refurbishing many old wooden boats, houses and antiques. He brought pleasure to all, as he recounted many stories of his life time. He will be sadly missed by all. Funeral arrangements are not yet completed, pending arrival of family from Australia. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Killarney Health Centre Building Fund or the St-Bonaventure Memorial Fund would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Sudbury, ON.

BÉLANGER, Marilyn (née Dupuis)
BÉLANGER, Marilyn (née Dupuis) The family announces with sorrow her death, Monday June 30, 2003, in Sudbury, at the age of 67 years. Daughter of the late Euclid Dupuis and of the late Thérèse Dupuis (née Limoges). Beloved wife of Onesime Bélanger predeceased. Loving mother of Mark (wife Amy), Lynn (husband Wayne Hickey) all of Windsor, Lise (husband Dr. Waide Lambert) of Sudbury and Craig (wife Martina) of Toronto. Dear sister of Fernand Dupuis of Sudbury. Predeceased by her sister Jacqueline (husband Gérald Rivet of Sudbury). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kerrie and Shaun. Marilyn is remembered for her devotion to the care and needs of others. She was retired having worked for the Sudbury and District Association for Community Living. She also served with the C.W.L. of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and volunteered for the Sudbury Regional Palliative Care Association. The family will receive friends at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. East, Sudbury, Wednesday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday July 3rd, 2003 at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Sudbury. Donations to the Sudbury Regional Palliative Care Association would be appreciated.

CARMICHAEL, Joan Mary (nee McKenzie) In loving memory of Joan Mary Carmichael (nee McKenzie), 64 years, who passed away Sunday evening, June 29th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Memorial Site. Born in North Bay where she married Pat in 1961. She worked as a supply teacher with the Roman Catholic School Board for many years. She was a member of St. Kevin's Church and C.W.L. Joan enjoyed travel and spending time at her camp on Fox Lake. She was a good hearted woman with a great sense of humour. She will be lovingly remembered as a caring and kind person who always put others first. Beloved wife of Mervin "Pat" Carmichael of Val Caron. Loving mother of Darrell of Copper Cliff and Brenda (husband Ron Weaver) of Dowling. Dear mother in law of Monick of Val Therese. Cherished grandmother of Amanda, Shawn, Trevor and Bryana. Dear daughter of George and Patricia MacKenzie both predeceased. Dear step daughter of Cyril "Chic" Grozelle predeceased. Dear daughter in law of Gwen Carmichael of Sudbury. Dear sister of Noreen (husband Neil Madigan) of Nobel, Terry (wife Marylen) of Chelmsford, Anne (husband Dennis Deibel) of Kirkland Lake. Dear niece of Alexander (wife Carole). Sadly missed by brother and sisters in law, nephews and nieces. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, Val Caron/Blezard Valley Chapel, Main St., Val Caron. Funeral Mass in St. Kevin's Church, Val Therese on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2003 at 11 a.m. Interment in the Valley East cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Northern Cancer Research Fund would be appreciated. (Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.)

CHAMBERLIN, Ethel Lyall passed away from a head injury due to a fall at home on Saturday, June 28, 2003. Ethel (Arthur) Chamberlin at the age of 83 years, originally from Sudbury, moved to Guelph in 1979. Beloved wife of William H. Chamberlin. Loved mother of Brenda Faye Greer (James) of Haines City, Florida, W. Burke Chamberlin (Ingrid) of Bancroft. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Kyle, Derick, Kaylie and 5 step-grandchildren. Predeceased by 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Cremation with Inurnment Parklawn cemetery , Sudbury on Friday July 4, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. GOTRO, Roy Edmund The family announces with sorrow his death on June 14, 2003, at the Leacock Care Centre in Orillia at the age of 92. Roy was born in Port Arthur November 10, 1910. Son of the late William & Alma Gotro. Beloved husband of Marion (nee Dwyer) predeceased 1996). Brother of Vern, Fred of Lively, Victor of Toronto, Norman, Kelowna, B.C., Alma St. Louis, Ottawa, all predeceased. Dear father of twins Connie (Terry) Antonioni of Lively & Judy Gotro of Orillia, Harriet Davidson (husband Hugh predeceased) of Orillia, John (Claire) Gotro of Mississauga. Precious Granpa of Terry (Laura) Antonioni, Tiffany (Scott) Simpson, Jason Antonioni of Lively, Keith Davidson of Orillia, Heather (Mark) Fraser, Wingham, Sherri-Lynn Gotro of Mississauga & Chantal (Rob) Simon of Kitchener. Cherished Great Granpa of Stephen, Sean, Ben, twins Josh & Max, Keith, Krista, Blake, Evan & Noah. Roy grew up in Creighton Mine and attended St. Jerome's College in Kitchener. He later worked for INCO at Creighton Mine. During that time his friend Father Emmett Regan approached Roy about starting a Credit Union in the town. Roy obtained a Credit Union Charter which began in the basement of his home. It continued that way for several years. Eventually it became established at the old Creighton Police Station. Roy continued to work for INCO, while a staff of two; his wife Marion & Jeanine Kuik (nee Barbe) managed daily operations. After completing his daily work shift, Roy would finish the day's operations in the evenings. He worked tirelessly that way for several years. Roy was the back bone of the Creighton Mine Community Credit Union & was completely dedicated to the Credit Union Movement and all that it stood for. After 25 years with INCO, Roy left & became full time manager. Roy was also instrumental in establishing other Credit Unions in the area by offering his expertise. He was also a founding member of Cuna Mutual, now Co-operators Insurance. After a few years as manager, Roy was offered a position at its head office in Toronto, but declined, as he was extremely devoted to his work with the Creighton Mine Credit Union. Roy was a gifted story teller with a great wit & sense of humour. As a boy he possessed a beautiful singing voice & sang in the St. Michael's Parish Choir. He was a devout Roman Catholic, with a strong-rooted faith. Roy's great joys were spending summers with his family at his camp on Bass Lake, Espanola & after retirement, travelling with his wife. He was a devoted, soft hearted dad & husband, and is now at peace with his dear Mern. Visitation was at the MUNDELL FUNERAL HOME, 79 West St. N., Orillia on Sunday, June 15th from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian burial was at Guardian Angel's Church, Orillia on Monday, June 16th at 10:00 o'clock, followed by cremation. A family internment of ashes will be held on Saturday, July 19th, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus cemetery , Lively. Those wishing to attend may do so. If desired, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke would be appreciated.

ZELINSKY, Sophie Elizabeth (nee Storzuk) In loving memory of Sophie Elizabeth Zelinsky (nee Storzuk), 76 years, of Lively, who passed away Wednesday morning July 3rd, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Sophie was born and raised in Coniston. She married William Zelinsky in 1945 in Coniston. She had been a longtime resident of Creighton. She was a Roman Catholic. Sophie was devoted to her loving family. Beloved wife of William Zelinsky predeceased 1976. Loving mother of Dennis (wife Joan) of Lively, Victor (spouse Diane) of Whitefish, Arnold and Sandra (husband Tony Johnson) both of Lively. Cherished grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Dear daughter of Phillip and Nellie Storzuk predeceased. Dear sister of Doris Costello of Newmarket and the late Annie, Frances, Tom and Billy all predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. UY, Doctor Isaac Nuqui At the Elizabeth Center, Val Caron on Thursday, June 19th. "Farewell to you all, from my soul torn away, Friends of my childhood in the home dispossessed! Give thanks that I rest from the wearisome day! Farewell to thee, too, sweet friend that lightened my way; Beloved creatures all, farewell! In death there is rest!" Beloved husband of Molly Swales of Sudbury in his 72nd year. Dear father of Elizabeth Uy of Calgary, Dr. Christopher Uy of Sudbury and Anthony Uy of Salt Lake City. Loving grandfather of 5: Hillary, Kelsi, Samuel, Cooper and Boston. Dear brother of Naty Germain of Scarborough and of 10 other siblings in the Philippines. He will be cremated as per his wishes. This renaissance scientist came to Canada from the Philippines as a medical doctor in 1956. He studied at the University of Toronto for his specialty in Anesthesia and received his F.R.C.P. (C) in 1966. He lived and worked as an anesthetist in Saint John, N.B. for 23 yrs. At the time he was also an associate professor with Dalhousie University. He then moved to Sudbury in 1985 and continued his work. In lieu of flowers memoriam donations to the Northern Ontario Medical School (opening Sept. 2005) would be appreciated (705-675-4883). The universe gave up one of it's most brilliant stars. The sky is a little bit darker tonight.

SORENSON, Isabella "Isa" (nee Kerr) In loving memory of Isabella "Isa" Sorenson (nee Kerr), 82 years, of Levack, who passed away Monday morning, June 30th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she married Carl Sorenson in Scotland in 1943. A long time Levack resident, Isabella had served overseas during World War II with the Royal Air Force. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br# 553 Chelmsford. Isabella was devoted to her loving family. Beloved wife of Carl Sorenson of Levack. Loving mother of Isabel Jessome (husband Emmett) of Elliot Lake, Marie "Meme" Sorenson of Thunder Bay, Carol "Snooks" Klus (husband David) of Chelmsford and Carl "Suny" Sorenson of Edmonton. Cherished grandmother of Terri-Lee, Emmett, Crystal-Ann, Georgina, Andy, Tyna, Tammy, Heather and 12 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Frankie, Lizzie, Annie, Jeannie, Alice, Nellie and Jackie all pre- deceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. (2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday only.) Beloved wife of Ralph Potts. Loving mother of Edna (husband Harvey MacLeod), Jane (husband Brian Oliver) and Darlene (husband James Cherry). Cherished grandmother of Tammy, Mark, Kelly, Reagan, Erinn, Stephen, Leonard & 5 great-grandchildren. Dear daughter of William and Ellen Tennant predeceased. Dear sister of Janet Brandle predeceased. Mary was born in Lethbridge, Alberta. In her younger days she had been an active member of Berean Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher and camp cook. She enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Manitoulin Island but never stopped missing the foothills of Alberta. At Mary's request a private family committal service was held Wednesday, June 25th, 2003 at Civic Memorial cemetery , Sudbury. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
