Cooper, Ellen (Nellie), (Slade) - Peacefully at Cedarwood Village, Simcoe, on Saturday November 23, 2002 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband George (Dewey) Cooper (1975). Loving mother of George Cooper and his wife Beth, Suzelle and her husband Garry Moulton, Judy and her husband Robert Near. Loving grandmother of Barbara Mayer, Brenda Cooper, Jesse Near and Jennifer Near, 2 Great Grandsons and 3 Great Great Grandsons. Survived by her sister Gwen Merritt, of London, sisters-in-law Helen Slade of Simcoe, and Florence Crandall, of Simcoe. Predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Nellie was a loving mother to many Foster Children for over 25 years. The family will receive friends to share their memories of Nellie at THE BALDOCK FUNERAL HOME & FAMILY CENTRE 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral Service to celebrate Mrs. Cooper's life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday November 28, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Stan Cox officiating. Interment Oakwood cemetery. Donations to the Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated by the Family.

IVANIC - Mr. Michael Ivanic passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Thursday, November 28, 2002 in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Pearl Amelia (nee: McDougall). Funeral arrangements incomplete at Press Time. Murphy Funeral Home, Delhi entrusted. Phone 582-1290.

LAMPERT - Maria, 82 years, formerly of Delhi, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2002. Wife of Late Joseph Lampert (1991). MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi in charge. (519) 582-1290.

LINGWOOD, Dorothy A. (Porteous, nee: Vail) passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2002 at the Norfolk General Hospital in her 94th year. Loving wife of the late John Lingwood (1958) and the late Murray Porteous (1938). Predeceased by parents Reverend and Mrs. L. H. Vail, brothers; Thompson and Laurence Vail and sister Marion Vail. She is survived by her dearly loved family, sister; Jean Vail of Simcoe, sons; Kenneth Porteous and his wife Lois of Simcoe, David Lingwood and his wife Norma of Port Dover, daughters; Marina Lloyd and her husband Ken of Burlington and Kathryn Gundry and her husband Wray of Port Perry, also 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a member of Tyrell Baptist Church for over 50 years where she played for services for 37 years. She taught elementary school for 37 years during which time she was the first woman principal in Norfolk County and organized the Bloomsburg Central School for 11 years and was the first principal and organized the Townsend Central Senior School for 6 years. After retirement she had many happy times as Director of Simcoe Seniors Rhythm Band, as a member of the Superannuated Teachers of Ontario, and as a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, November 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the FERRIS FUNERAL HOME, 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe where the funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. Reverend Darrell Maguire officiating. Private interment to follow at Greenwood cemetery , Waterford. Those wishing may donate in Dorothy's memory to the C.N.I.B. or the Tyrell Baptist Church.

LLOYD - Mr. James Aubrey Lloyd formerly of Hillside Avenue, Delhi passed away peacefully at the Delhi Nursing Home on November 25, 2002 in his 92nd year. Forever missed, Aubrey is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nora Lloyd (nee: Rumble) and by his children: Linda Perrault of Winnipeg and Bob & Grace Lloyd of Orillia. Predeceased by his daughter Marilyn Ruth Lloyd (1997). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Sarah, Michael, Becky and Jesse of Winnipeg; Wendy, Doug, Nancy and Joe of Orillia and four great-grandchildren. Retired Manager of the Delhi Branch of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Canada. Aubrey was an active member of his community and of his church. He enjoyed a lifetime of travel, until ill health overtook him. As per Aubrey's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30th at the Delhi United Church until time of Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Love officiating. In lieu of flowers, dontions to the Delhi Community Health Centre or Delhi United Church Memorial Fund can be made at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (582-1290) and will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

McFALL, Thomas Alfred - of Simcoe, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 27th, 2002 in his 66th year. Dear father of Glenn McFall and his wife Tammy of St. Williams. At the families request, both visitation and services will remain private. In lieu of flowers, memorial dontions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. PERCIVAL, Ann (nee O'Connor) - Peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, November 22, 2002, at the age of 63. Much loved wife of Len. Devoted mother of Gail (Khalen) and her husband Simon Meredith, Julie Asling and Colleen and her husband Darren Kemp. The very best Nana to Hayley, Brenna, Griffin and Kenna Rory. Also survived by her loving family in Macroom, County Cork, Ireland. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 2016 Blairholm Ave., Burlington on Thursday, November 28, 2002 at 1 p.m. If desired heartfelt expression can be made to the Wellspring House, 2545 Sixth Line, Oakville, L6J 4Z4. Special thanks to all of the people who cared for her at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital. Her will to live and inner strength inspired all.

Picco, Filomena (nee Peloso) A former resident of Sudbury, Filomena Picco died Monday, November 25, at the Guelph General Hospital after a short illness. She was 92. Born in Udine, Italy, she married Libero Picco (predeceased 1980) in 1938 before moving to Canada in 1950 and settling in Sudbury where she lived until moving to Simcoe twelve years ago. Filomena recently moved to Guelph where she resided at Village on Riverside Glen. She will be sadly missed by daughter Anna Picco and son-in-law Ted Pritchard of Guelph, grandchildren Dylan and Jeremy, sister Corine Tomat of Udine, Italy, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at LOUGHEED'S FUNERAL HOME on Thursday November 28, between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m., and between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Prayers will be said at 3:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 29 at Our Lady of Hope. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.

Roe, Robert - peacefully at Norview Lodge, Simcoe on Saturday November 23, 2002 at age 93. Predeceased by his wife Ida Bessie Barber (1995) and his son Larry Roe (1992). Dear brother of Bertha Peach of England and Annie Sproston of Australia. Predeceased by his sister Florence, and brothers Earnest and Charles. At age 14 Mr. Roe came to Canada as a "Railroad Child" to a farm near London Ontario where he worked and paid off his debt and then moved to the Simcoe area. He commenced work at American Can in 1938, then went into the army as a volunteer. Mr. Roe served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was engaged in the battle of the Beach of Normandy and drove a Lauree (truck) through this battle without injury. Mr. Roe was a decorated veteran and received the following medals; 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Mr. Roe was a longtime dedicated employee of American Can Co., Simcoe. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at Oakwood cemetery , Simcoe, on Tuesday November 26, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Bryan Robertson officiating. Donations can be made at THE BALDOCK FUNERAL HOME & FAMILY CENTRE 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe (426-0291) to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Straiton, Imelda 'Millie', Peacefully at Dover Cliffs Nursing Home on Friday, November 22, 2002, in her 87th year. Wife of the late Aleck Straiton (1996). Loving mother and mother-in-law of Gary and Joy Straiton of New Brunswick. Special aunt of Brian Phillips and his wife Joan and their daughter Terri-Joan of Stouffville. Millie will be sadly missed by all her friends and staff at Dover Cliffs Nursing Home. Visitation for Mrs. Straiton will be on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at the THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave., 12 noon to 2 p.m. at which time the Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel. Rev. Brian Elder officiating, followed by interment at Port Dover cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by Millie's Family.

Toth, Ona Orpha (nee Ames) - peacefully, at the Hotel Dieu Hospital St. Catharines, on Saturday November 23, 2002 in her 70th year. Predeceased by her husband Leslie Toth. Loving mother of Brenda Engell and her husband James. Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey and Shawn Engell. Will be sadly missed by her brother and sisters Edna Ames, Frances Pye, Donald Ames (Marie) and a sister-in-law Grace Ames. Dearest friend of Kelly and Bev Caldwell. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Norma Ames, and brothers Gerald and Calvin Ames. The family will receive friends to share their memories of Ona at THE BALDOCK FUNERAL HOME & FAMILY CENTRE 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe on Monday (today) evening 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to celebrate Mrs. Toth's life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday November 26, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor George Watt officiating. VAN BELLE - Mrs. Maria VanBelle, formerly of Mill Street, Delhi passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Thursday, November 21, 2002 in her 86th year. Former Maria Julia Aper. Beloved wife of the late Ludivus VanBelle (1979). Loving mother of Jozef VanBelle (Adrienne), Delhi, and the late Eduard VanBelle(1969). Cherished grandmother of Marina VanBelle (Terry Cole), Delhi; Darlene VanBelle- Ogilvie (Gary), Ingersoll; Reginald VanBelle, Toronto; Kimberly VanBelle-Ebel (Greg), North Carolina; Troy VanBelle (Christine Vincent), Hamilton and twelve great- grandhildren. Also survived by a brother, Augustus Aper and a sister, Martha Isierbeith and several nieces and nephews, all of Belgium. Friends called at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi for visitation on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Complete Funeral Service was held in the Chapel on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00 am. with Rev. Fr. Tom A. Donohue officiating. Donations to the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

DAVIS, Robert Eli (Bob): passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital on Thursday, February 6, 2003. Mr. Bob Davis of Simcoe in his 74th year. Much beloved husband of Joan (nee Secor) he is also survived by his loving children; Robert and his wife Irene of North Carolina, Sandra Christie and her husband Charles of Smithville, Ronald and his wife Pat of Hannon, Randy and his wife Alicia of Binbrook, Kathy Court and her husband Willie of Hamilton, Janetta Park and her husband Robert of Stoney Creek and Joanne Warren and her husband Mike of Smithville, his cherished 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, brothers; Murray and his wife Lorene of Simcoe; Jack and his wife Judy of Simcoe and Alf and his wife Marilyn of Lambeth, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Bob was predeceased by his brother Tom and his wife Dot. Mr. Davis was a retired truck driver with Taylor Steel. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, February 9, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the FERRIS FUNERAL HOME, 214 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. Pastor Ward Taylor officiating followed by cremation with interment at Oakwood cemetery at a later date. Those wishing may donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetic Association. HORTON: Nellie Leonora (nee Hall) - passed away on Sunday February 2, 2003 at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Nellie Horton of Port Rowan and formerly of Tillsonburg in her 90th year. Wife of the late Oakley Horton who predeceased her in 1983. Dear mother of David and his wife Anne Marie of Long Point and Carolyn and husband Rev. Larry Larson of Winnipeg. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Chad and Lynette, Andréa and Jason, Tyler, Stephan and Kristin. Survived by her brother Lesley and Caryll Hall of Florida and by brother-in-law Irving and Margaret Horton of Tillsonburg. Predeceased by her brothers Bertram, Gloval (Bud), Irving (Skeeter) and sisters Beatrice Albury and her twin Winnifred. Relatives and Friends will be received at the JEFFREY W. GLENDINNING FUNERAL HOME 36 Front St., Port Rowan on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted in the Clark Chapel on Thursday February 6, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Sandy Young officiating. KLINCHUK, "Betty" Bertha (nee Forkas) - passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Thursday, February 6th, 2003 in her 68th year. Betty was an honorary past president of the NGH Auxilliary for more than 20 years. Her greatest joy in life came from her grandchildren whom she loved very much. Betty leaves behind her beloved husband and best friend, Paul Klinchuk of Simcoe. Loving mother of Paul Jr. and his wife Sharron of Lott, Texas, their children Joshua and Adam; Betty Lou Sheppard and her husband Walter of Muirkirk, Ontario, their children Cori and Jeremy. Betty is predeceased by her parents, the late Frank and Helen Forkas.
