Beloved husband of Rosemary and step-father to her daughters Kathryn and Patricia. Predeceased by his first wife, Nellie, step-father to her children Debbie, Margaret Anne, David and Harold . Also survived by his sisters Diana, Linda and Glenda and his brothers Wendal, Dwight and Wayne. Loving grandfather to Kelly, Erin, Christa and Amy. Great grandpa to Makenna. Lawson, the Reverend Canon Arthur Charles, died at Toronto Western Hospital on January 31, 2004, of complications arising from Parkinson’s disease. Loving husband and life-long friend of Suzanne Perry Lawson; cherished father of Jamie and Sara and father-in-law to Feng and Erik; beloved step-son of Joan Lawson and brother of Mary Hancock (John); brother-in-law to Robert Perry (Lorna), Gay Bannister (Roger), and Doug Thompson (Jane). Predeceased by his parents C. Mervyn and Edith Lawson of Port Hope. Art was richly blessed in his callings as a teacher in Scarborough and Port Hope, and then as a priest in the Anglican Diocese of Toronto, where he served at Holy Trinity, Thornhill; St. Joseph of Nazareth, Bramalea; St. Jude, Wexford; and St. Peter’s, Cobourg. Friend, teacher, priest, mentor, and “wounded healer” to many, Art lived a full life with Parkinson’s. With faith, he continued his life-long ministry with the help of his family and friends; the attention of his care team at St. Peter’s, Cobourg; the friendship and care of the staff and residents at the Cobourg Retirement Residence; as well as the skill and compassion of the medical teams of the Movement Disorder Clinic, the Department of Neurosurgery, and latterly the health care team at the Intensive Care Unit at the Toronto Western Hospital. A celebration of Art’s life will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, King Street West, Cobourg, at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 4, 2004. Visitation will be in the Church on Tuesday, February 3, 2004, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Wrathall, Dr. Ernest Lawrence (Physician & Surgeon, District Coroner, U of T Meds 1940, Squadron Leader RCAF WWII Yarmouth, N.S. and Sr. Medical Officer of the RCAF at Summerside, PEI and Moncton, N.B.). In his 92nd year Ernest left this world at 2:12pm Thursday, December 4th ,2003 while holding his daughter’s hand. Formerly of Perth, Toronto and Port Hope where he practiced medicine from 1946-1980. Son of the late Mary Elizabeth Paul and William J. Wrathall (CPR) of Perth. Husband for 61 years to the late Isabel Leone Cawker, formerly of Port Perry (Jan. 10, 1913 – Aug. 13, 2003). Loving and adored father of the late Byron Doyle Wrathall (1945-1970), Janis Robinson Hillel (Dan, Richmond Hill) and Stuart Douglas Wrathall (Ann Noble, Sutton). Proud grandfather of Holly, Jonathan and Scott. Ernest’s was a long life, lived in full with huge obstacles bravely surmounted. “Ernie” often seemed larger than life and he loved the art and science of medicine with its problem-solving challenges. He ushered many lives into the world and cared for many others. His waiting room is full again and waiting for him. Ernest was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a force to be reckoned with. He had a unique, delightful and colourful sense of humour, which seems to have been passed down the line! Ernie loved cars, planes and trains and vacations anywhere in the HOT sun! Dear friend of Bob and Mae Decontie. Ken was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan and always enjoyed cheering on the Cobourg Cougars. At Ken’s request there will be cremation without services.
