Daniel Eli (Bing) Cosby

COSBY, Daniel Eli (Bing) - Peacefully at the Welland General Hospital on October 13, 2006 age 91 years. Dearly loved father of Kathleen (Yosvanis) Silveira and cherished grandfather of Dianne (Paul) Haist, Dan Davidson, Linda (Tom) Gonschoir, Wendy Cosby (Kerry), Doug Johnson (Amy), Paris Cosby (Peter) and April (Andy) Oliver; 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Bing will be fondly remembered by his caring neighbors, Debbie and Ted Kretz and caregiver Dave Kyle. Predeceased by his wife Ivy (1994), daughter Shirley (1987), son James (2003), sister Margaret (1993) and dear friend and skating partner Dorothy (2001). Binged owned and operated Bing's Radio Ltd. From 1943 until 1995 when he retired at the age of 80. He was a member of the Grantham Optimist Club, West St. Catharines Businessman's Association and Past President of Ridley Skating Club. He received a Silver Medal for speed skating in the Senior Olympics in Lake Placid. His love of skating brought him years of enjoyment and many good friends from the Jordon, Guelph and Scarborough Skating Clubs. Born in Charlton, ON (New Liskard) during the Cobalt Silver Boom on September 27, 1915. He returned with his parents and sister to the family farm (near Caistor Centre). In 1937 Bing married his “English Rose“ Ivy and they moved to Grimsby then to St. Catharines. After a few years of driving truck for Consolidated and St. Catharines Truck Lines, he worked at the N.S. & T bus barns on Welland Avenue as a supervising mechanic. In 1943 Bing opened a Radio/TV repair shop in West St. Catharines, later specializing in car radios. He enjoyed meeting people and had many lasting friendships. A self taught, talented man, Dad will be most remembered for his soft spoken, gentle nature and wonderful sense of humour. He treated animals with much kindness and will be missed by his dog Dee Dee. At Dad's request there will be no visitation. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date (notice to follow) and those wishing to attend are welcome. Donations in his memory may be made to Tender Wishes or The Welland Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street (905-684- 6346).

Gilles Nadon

NADON, Gilles - The family announces with sorrow his death Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 at the age of 58 years. Son of the late Ernest and of the late Cécile (née Simon) Nadon. Loving father of Lynn (friend Junior) of Sudbury and Lise St.Amand (Paul) of Hanmer. Dear brother of Réjeanne Pomerleau (Henri) of Val Caron, Carmelle Rancourt (Marcel) of Garson, Isabelle Rancourt (Oza) of Sturgeon Falls, Madeleine Rancourt (Norbert) of St.Catharines, Monique Kennedy (Todd) of Swastika, Gisèle Lahaie (Michel) of Alban and Louise Hancharyk (Andy) of Sudbury. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Daz-oniil, Tyler and by his many friends. In keeping with Mr. Nadon's wishes there will be no visitation and no service. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, SUDBURY.

Pauline (Swaikoski) Rawlyk

RAWLYK, Pauline (Swaikoski) - In loving memory of Pauline (Swaikoski) Rawlyk, 84 years, who passed away Sunday morning, October 15th, 2006 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Center. Beloved wife of Peter John Rawlyk predeceased 2001. Loving mother of Dave (wife Carole) of Chelmsford and Sylvia of Capreol. Cherished grandmother of David, Christine, Darrell (Tasha), Matthew and great grandchildren Sarah, Meagan, Trevor and Samantha. Born in Winnipeg, she owned and operated Pauline's Lunch for many years. Pauline enjoyed gardening, flowers and spending time at her trailer on the Island. Private Family Funeral Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, Val Caron/Blezard Valley Chapel, 1815 Main St., Val Caron Thursday, October 19th, 2006. Interment in the Valley East cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. (No public visitation).

Isadore (Rocky) Walsh

WALSH, Isadore (Rocky) - 92, a long time resident of Elliot Lake passed away peacefully October 18, 2006 at the Nipissing Manor in Corbeil, Ontario with his loving wife and best friend Margaret at his side. Loving father of Joy Ryan (Pat) of Sault Ste Marie, Harvey Walsh (Brenda) of Sudbury and Chris Fox (Gary) of Corbeil. Proud grandfather of Steve, Ryan (Kelly), Shelley, Bailey (Steve), Meghan (Jim), Hannah, Alison and Joseph Walsh, Krystal and Cailey Fox. Great grandfather of Scott, Jake and Caitlin. Predeceased by granddaughter Sarah Walsh. Isadore was proud of his Newfoundland roots. He worked in the mining industry in various locations across Canada and in 1958 settled in Elliot Lake. Following retirement from Rio Algom in 1979, he kept active with fishing, woodworking, gardening and traveling. For health reasons, in June 2006, Isadore and Marg relocated to Corbeil. The family greatly appreciated the kindness shown to Rocky by the staff of Nipissing Manor, the North Bay General Hospital Renal Unit, CCU and Dr. Clark. Visitation will be held at the ELLIOT LAKE FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATION CENTRE (705-848- 9250) on Friday, October 20 from 9:30 until the time of service at 11:00 am from Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Internment to follow in Woodlands cemetery , Elliot Lake.

Loving father of Darryl Wood of Kanata, Sara and her husband Christopher Kelleher of Belleville, and Nicole Wood of Belleville. Dear brother of Susan and her husband Arnie Levy of Burnt River. Brother- in-law of Bernie Elms and his wife Karin of Germany. Uncle of Tara-Anne and her husband Barry Taylor of Bobcaygeon, and Scott Levy of London, and great uncle of Bryce Taylor. The family will receive friends at the WALAS FUNERAL HOME, 130 Main Street, Brighton on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Service in the funeral home on Monday, October 23rd at 11 o'clock. Cremation. James Mashford

MASHFORD, JAMES JIM Of Welland, suddenly at Thunder Bay, Ontario while on his annual beloved moose hunt, on Monday, October 16, 2006, in his 79th year. Cherished husband for 20 years to Judy Mashford (nee Booth). Loving father of Harold Mashford (Florence) of Nanaimo, B.C., Elizabeth White (Ted) of Niagara Falls, Geri Chisholm (Don) and Fran Eggleton (Stan), all of Welland and Cheryl Holton (Geoff) of Port Robinson. Loved step-father of Melissa Jackson (Dan) of Welland . He will be sadly missed by 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren as well as by many nieces and nephews. Dear brother of Murray Mashford (Marilyn) and sister Pauline Pastachak, all of Niagara Falls. Predeceased by parents Harold & Marjorie Mashford, a sister Fern Anderson, brother Glenn Mashford and granddaughter Shannon White. Born in Niagara Falls, Jim moved to Welland in 1949 where he remained a productive resident of the community. His working career began at Page Hersey Tubes, followed in the early 1950's as a police officer with the Crowland Township Police and then as Yard Foreman with the City Of Welland. In 1974 he retired as Yard Foreman and went full time with his company, Jim's Trucking, which he had begun in 1945. Jim was a former Crowland Township Councilman, a member of the Port Colborne & District Shrine Club, the Myrtle Masonic Lodge 337, Port Robinson and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 4, Welland . As well he was a life member of the Welland Lion's Club, a member of the Welland & District Men's Cribbage League, the Welland Curling Club and Wainfleet Congregational Community Church. Friends are invited to visit the family on Saturday, October 21st from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, October 22nd from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the H. L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland. Pastor Alan Hyndman of Wainfleet Congregational Community Church will conduct the funeral from Faith Tabernacle Church, corner of Fitch and South Pelham, Welland, on Monday, October 23rd at 11:00 a.m. with cremation to follow. A reception will be held at the conclusion of the service at the Welland Lions Club Hall, River Road, Welland. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Port Colborne & District Shrine Club, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be deeply appreciated. Myrtle Masonic Lodge 337 AF & AM will hold a memorial service at the funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.

Nancy Henson (nee Wright), in her 68th year is the beloved wife of Leighton, cherished mother of Brenda (Rob), Brian (Dianne) and predeceased by son Leon. Precious grandmother of Matthew, Daniel, Mackenzie, Dylan, and Britney. Dear sister of Hazel Morrison (Roger), Jean Srigley (Harold), and June Thompson (the late Don). Predeceased by brothers Doug, George, Barney, and Roy. Will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. KJAERSGAARD, (Aage) Terry - It is with profound sadness that we announce the October 17th passing of Terry Kjaersgaard, of Fonthill, Ontario. Terry passed away peacefully in Welland Ontario, with his family at his side, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Terry will be greatly missed by his wife Alice, and his son and his daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kathleen Kjaersgaard of Barrie. Terry made many friends in his 67 years, and was active in many pursuits during his 40 years in Canada. Terry was a devoted member of the Bahá' faith, a long-time sailor, a member of two pipe-bands, a one-time Danish national judo champion, an electrician, a long-time employee of Ontario Hydro/Electrical Safety Authority - but most of all Terry was a friend to everyone he touched. A private funeral with arrangements by JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME in Fonthill was held on Friday, October 20th.

SHEFF, Norman Michael Sr. - Of Wallaceburg passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2006 in his 76th year. Norman is the son of the late Henry & Eva (Bushey) Sheff. Beloved husband of Margaret (Moore). Loving father of Cathy, Diane & Steven Vogt, Cheryl, Norman Jr. and Liz. Dear grandfather of Mike, Vance, Tashina, Chris, Ashley, Will, Becky, Nicholas and Shauna Joy. Brother of John and Gerry Sheff, Pat O'Brien, and the late Frank and Bill Sheff, Gladys Jackson, Beatrice Ives, Andy Sheff and Mary Helen Gemmill. Norman was a retiree of Waltec Forging. Friends may call at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street (at Elgin) in Wallaceburg from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. on Sunday. The funeral services will be conducted by Cheryl Kirk on Monday, October 23 at 1 p.m. The interment will follow at Riverview cemetery.
