McINTYRE, JEAN BERNICE: Peacefully, at the United
Mennonite Home in Vineland on Friday, April 1, 2005, Jean
McIntyre formerly of Smithville, in her 84th year. Jean was
a long time employee of Bell Canada. She is survived by
her sister Elizabeth and nephews Jack and his wife
Sandra, and Lorne, as well as several great nieces and
nephews. Predeceased by brothers Earl, Rupert, and
Jack, and a sister Donna. The funeral service was held
on Monday, April 4, 2005 at 2 pm at Merritt Funeral Home,
Smithville, with Rev. Dale Massender officiating. Interment Smithville United Church cemetery. The pallbearers were
Jack McIntyre, Jeff McIntyre, Vic Langdon, Murray Comfort,
Daniel Caruso and Willis Copeland. Special thanks to Dr.
Woodland and the wonderful staff at the United Mennonite
Home who offered Jean such kind, gentle and
compassionate care.
MERRITT, BEVERLY: September 28, 1923 - March 1,
2005 - Peacefully, surrounded by love and family at Shaver
Rehabilitation Hospital. The son of the late Daniel J. and
M. L. (Ella Hill) Merritt leaves behind his beloved wife of
sixty-one years, Helen Twila Pearson. Left to celebrate his
life are six children: Donna (James) Real; Helen (Ivan)
Baltus; Paul (Carolyn); John (Virginia); Valerie (David)
Goodfellow; Sean (Susan); fourteen grandchildren and
eight great grandchildren. He is survived by sisters-in-law
Gloria (Hans) Christiansen and Edith Pearson (Fred)
Waters, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. A private
family funeral service was held, with interment at Kimbo
cemetery . Memorial contributions to the Firestone Institute
for Respiratory Health would be appreciated by the family.

MERRITT, ROBERT DANIEL (DAN): Dan went home to be
with his Lord, surrounded by his family, at the Hamilton
General Hospital, in his 84th year on Tuesday, May 17,
2005. Dan is survived by his loving wife Eileen, his sons
Kenneth (Thea), Bruce (Margaret) and Ralph (Sonja), step
children Susan Dodgson (Dave), Dorothy Davies (John),
Ruth Smith (Don), Catherine Good (Dave), Bill Horne
(Julie), 32 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Dan
was predeceased by his first wife Freda Griffin (1973).
Brother to O'Reilly, Sidney, the late Frank (1980), Lorena
and Mary. Due to family out of the country, the funeral
service will be held at Calvary Gospel Church, 4129 Hixon
Street, Beamsville on Saturday, May 28, 2005 at 11 am.
Private family interment at Kimbo cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations to the Gideons would be
appreciated by the family, and can be made through Merritt

MERRITT, Helen Twila (Pearson) 24/04/24 – 08/09/05:
passed away suddenly, at Henderson Hospital. Helen
was born in Morrin, Alberta, the fourth of eight children of
the late J. Franklin and Lura (Knapman) Pearson. She was
predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Beverly, on
March 1st of this year. Left with her memories are six
children; Donna (James) Real, Helen (Ivan) Baltus, Paul
(Carolyn), John (Virginia), Valerie (David) Goodfellow, B.
Sean (Susan), 14 grand-children, 8 great grand-children,
and many very special nieces and nephews. Helen is
survived by a sister, Gloria Christiansen, sister-in-law Edith
Pearson Waters, brother-in-law William Wrathall. A
private family service was held Monday, September 12,
2005. Interment at Kimbo cemetery. The family
acknowledges with grateful thanks the many kindnesses of
the caring, supportive staff and fellow residents of
Ridgeview. We invite others to celebrate our Mother’s gift
of giving with random acts of kindness and/or donations to

MEYER, CAROL: Peacefully, surrounded by the love of
her family, on Monday, October 17, 2005, Carol Lynn
Meyer (nee Klim), in her 57th year. Beloved wife of Harry
Meyer for 34 years. Cherished mother of Mark and
Elizabeth of Brockville and Mathew and Erin of Beamsville.
Loving daughter of Alex and Blanche Klim of Smithville.

MILLER, ROBERT HAROLD (BERT): Beloved husband
of the late Sylvia Betty Miller (nee Bousfield) and son of
the late Ives and Mary Miller, Bert was born in Caistor
Township July 3, 1920 and died at West Lincoln Memorial
Hospital in Grimsby on Friday, March 11, 2005 at the age
of 84, having resided in Grimsby for over forty years. Dear
father of one son, Larry Robert Miller and his wife Patricia
Carol Miller (nee Fletcher). Dear grandfather of three
grandchildren: Scott Patrick Miller, Dwayne Larry Miller
and Paula Tracey Miller, and of his four great
grandchildren Mercedes, Avery, Kiarra and Tanner. The
funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at
2:30 pm at Merritt Funeral Home in Smithville with Rev.
John Knoll officiating. Ruth Griffin was the organist.
Interment Grace United Church cemetery. Pallbearers
were Stan Clayson, Fred Grey, Jay Veldman, Larry Miller,

MONGER, OLIVE: Peacefully, on Sunday, August 7, 2005,
surrounded by the love of her family, Olive Monger (nee
Carter) of Smithville in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of
Bernard (Bernie) George Monger. Olive and Bernie
recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Devoted and loving mother of Lynda Vanderheyden of
Grimsby, Michael and Sharon Monger of Hamilton, Diane
Dubeau of Ottawa and Paul Dubeau of Sudbury, Lisa and
Larry Nicholls of St. Catharines and Cathy and Jim Eybel of
Grimsby. Cherished by her 11 grandchildren and 7 great-
grandchildren. Dear sister of Ethel Marshall of England.
Predeceased by her brother Walter Carter and sisters
Florence May Vincent and Violet Carter. Olive will also be
fondly remembered as “Old Geezer” as a leader of

MOUS, DURK: Peacefully, at the United Mennonite Home
in Vineland on Sunday, April 17, 2005, Durk Mous of
Smithville in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Jeltje
(Olga) Mous (nee DeVries). Born in Friesland, Holland,
Durk and Olga came to Ontario in 1948 where they have
farmed for many years. Loving father of Tony (Linda),
Frank (Donna), John (Gayle), Robert (Carolyn), Alina Verzin
(Paul), Karla Gilmore (and the late James), Joseph (Cathy),
Anne Mous, James (Edythe), and William (Jennifer).
Predeceased by his children Jan, Harry and Elizabeth.
Cherished grandfather of many grandchildren. The family
received friends at Merritt Funeral Home, Smithville on
Tuesday, and the Vigil for the Deceased (Prayer Service)
was held at 8 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated
today, Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at 10:30 am at St. Martin
of Tours Roman Catholic Church, Smithville, with Father
Matthew Pendanathu officiating. Interment at the church's
