Dearest brother to Matthew (Jenny) and his niece Kaydence, sister Kathleen (Jay) and special brother Jeremeah Fortune. He also leaves to mourn grandparents Ron and Ruth Hawkes, Audrey MacInnes, the late Neil MacInnes and the late Marilyn Lamb; aunts and uncles Sharon Boyko (Don), Tracy Cormier (Todd), Karrie Ann Hawkes Sharon Nicol (David), Shirlee MacDougall (Jeff), Doug Hawkes (Anna), Bryan Hawkes (Carol), Chris Twigg (Leslie), and Irene Paulo (Rob); and cousins Adam, Tyler, Connor, Melissa (Dan), Lindsay (Adam), Nicole, James, Darcy (Gary), Charlie, Justin, Devon, Jenna, A.J., Michelle, Ian, John, Tanner, Trinity, and Kenny. Nate was a student at Gainsborough Elementary School and Beamsville Secondary School. He will be sadly missed by co-workers and friends. Jean was the beloved wife of Sidney Merritt for over 60 years. She was a loving mother to Judy Merritt of Sudbury, Sharon and Jim Yent of Redwater, Alberta, Betty and Keith Rodel of Pontypool, Debbie and Owen Babcock of Charlton, Tim and Cheryl Merritt of Aurora, Lori and Steven Prince of Dane, and Mark Merritt of Charlton. Cherished by grandchildren Ben, Steven, Nathan, Jennifer, David, Eldon, Shannon, Rebecca, William, John, Patrick, Jake, Diane and great-grandchildren Cooper and Emma. Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Dorothy Alward and her husband Harry. MOKREY, EVA (nee Kalush) November 21, 1919 - November 12, 2008 Predeceased by her daughter Nancie in 1983 and by her husband Nick in 1985. Dearest mother of Kathy and her husband Jamie; her son Mike and his wife Dale. Cherished Nana of Sherry and Iain, Sarah and Dave, Jeff and Sarah, Aaron and Helen, Nicole and Dave. Loving Great-Nana of Evan; Liam and Callum; Kealan and Callum; and Andrew. Eva is survived by her sister Helen; her brother Morris and Rolande; Debbie and John; many nieces and nephews; extended family and her good friend Lois Kindree. Our deepest gratitude to the staff of Nash Jackson at Ridgeview Long Term Care. Eva arrived in Montreal from Czernichowcach, Ukraine with her siblings in 1935. In 1947, Eva and Nick purchased the Downey property at the corner of Brock and St. Catharines Streets, established Mokrey Machine Shop and began their new life in Smithville.
