Atkins, Gladys Marie ( nee Brisbois ) Suddenly and at peace on Friday, April 11, 2003. Beloved wife of the late Lindsay Atkins and much loved mother of Karen Richardson, Diane McCoy (Jack), Sandra Atkins and Trish Binette(Luc). Adoring grandmotherof Catherine, Ryan,Jesse, Nicholas, Michelle, Stephanie and great-grandmother of Alexandria, Taylor and Anthony. Loving sister of Mae Pollex, Roy, Francis and Thomas Brisbois, Margaret Dick and Gertrude Simser. Donald W. (Don) Baldock - 04/13/2003
P.Eng Peacefully in hospital on Sunday, April 13, 2003, in his 80th year, after a courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late John W. and Emma (Ames) Baldock. He is survived by two sons, Robert (Helen) and Gordon (Diane), both of Ottawa. Also survived by two sisters, Wanda (Jim) Osborne of Vancouver and Maxine (Lloyd) Boivin of Lac Brome, Quebec, as well as many nieces and nephews. Don will be sadly missed by his dear friends, Jim and Bernice McFarland and Gord Dixon. In 1941, he graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor degree in Science and Civil Engineering. He was President and Owner of Baldock Engineering & Construction Limited for many years. Don was Past President and a life member of the Ottawa Construction Association and Past President of Construction Safety Association of Ontario. He was a member of Dalhousie Lodge A.F. & A.M. No.52 G.R.C. in Ottawa, Ontario and 48 years at Pembroke Lodge A.F. & A.M. No.128 G.R.C. (Ottawa District 2). Special thanks to the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Dr. Cohen and his team for the outstanding care. P Eng - Peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2003, after a lengthy illness, aged 82 years. Beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Cleary). Only son of the late George M. Burgess and Rose Hanlon. He served in the Navy from 1941-1946 and then the Public Service until retirement. By request, there will be no visitation or service. Clow,Nancy Ann (nee Mitchell) Peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyere Pavilion on Thursday, April 17, 2003 in her 62nd year. Predeceased by her loving husband Marvin David, her daughter Corrie and her son Donald. Dearly missed by her brothers and sisters, Peter(Eileen), Jim(Valerie), the late David Clow and Jane(Thomas Flemming). Fondly remembered by her sons David(Lynda) and Michael(Kelsey). Cherished grandmother to Ashley,Justin,Jeffrey,COry and little Ashley. She will be dearly missed by her many friends. Kenneth joins Ruth, his loving wife of over 50 years, who predeceased him in 1995. Ken peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 aged 90 years. He leaves a sister Dorothy Ryerson. His brother Don predeceased him in 2001. Survived by his son Wayne, daughter Sandra (Randy) and Linda (Gerry). As well, he leaves wonderful grandchildren who will miss his quick wit, wonderful stories and "snappy" blue eyes - Tammy (Shannon), Trevor (Diana), Steven, TracyLyn and Jenny. The family wish to thank the staff at Steff-Kim Lodge as well as Bill and Norma Kerr for the love and support they have shown the family. Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus on Friday, April 11, 2003 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Ninan (nee Knudsen). Dear father of John (Anneke) and Peter (Marilyn and daughter Isis). Dear brother of Ursula Angus (John) of London, England and the late Hubert Glynn (Agnes) of Vancouver. Also survived by his nieces and nephews. Cousin of Klaus Gottstein, Ulli Gottstein and Annelise Federschmidt. He and his family left Germany in the 1930's, and settled in Norway. During the German invasion of 1940, he led his mother, brother and sister in a courageous month-long escape through the mountains of Norway culminating in their evacuation on the last British naval vessel to leave southern Norway. As a result of the support they received from Norwegians, he had a lifelong respect and affection for the Norwegian people. He and his brother joined the British Army, in which they served for the duration of the war. He married Ninan in 1946, and his fifty year marriage to her was one of deep love and affection. They moved to Canada in 1952, where he made significant contributions to the study of curl during his subsequent career in paper research. He was an avid cross-country skier, and took a great interest in the Arctic, travel and nature. At the age of 83, he fulfilled his life-long ambition of visiting the Everest basecamp and Rongbuk Monastery in Tibet. Dear father of Andr (Sylvie Fournier), Michel (Nicole Marier), Diane (Aur le St-Jean), Robert (Danielle Larabie), Paul (Elaine Ch nier), Nicole (Alain Pag and the late Byron LeSeelleur). Also loved by his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Armand, Liliane, Jean, Guy, , G rard, Pierre, Fran oise, Aline and Maurice. Predeceased by brother Rh al and 2 sisters Lucille and Madeleine. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be held at St-S bastien Roman Catholic Church, 1000 Frances Street, Ottawa on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 11:00am.
