PHILLIPS (nee Bray) - Nona Pauline
passed away peacefully at home on Saturday December 3, 2005. Nona was the beloved wife of the late Harold Phillips. She was in her 82nd year. Loving mother of Craig (Kathy) of Unionville, John (Annette) of North Bay and Nona Foster (Blake) of Williams Lake, B.C. and proud grandmother of Mark of Sarnia. She will be sadly missed by her siblings Howard Bray and Ruth Bray, and predeceased by her brother Harry Bray. Nona was a retired teacher and held many positions with the Federated Teachers Association. She was a member of the UCW at Trinity United Church. Her passion to help others also led her to be a volunteer at the Civic Hospital for many years. Nona loved life and lived each day to its fullest. She cared about others and was always there to assist.
Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at Trinity United Church on Wednesday at 1 pm. Interment at the Forest Lawn cemetery.

At his home, Redbridge, on Tuesday December 6th, 2005, at the age of 78 years. Werner Ludwig Friedrich Schwab was the beloved husband of Hermine. Dear father of Michael Schwab (Aline Cadieux) of Kapuskasing and Annemarie Delia of Toronto. Werner will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Stephen Schwab, Marie Anne Delia and Maxime Veillieux.

FRASER - Norma
Norma Elizabeth Fraser passed away at the Leisureworld Care Giving Centre, North Bay on Wednesday December 7, 2005 while in her 88th year. She was predeceased by her parents the late Harry Fraser and Pearl Fraser (nee French) and her brothers Harry Fraser and Glen Fraser. Born and raised in North Bay she spent her lifetime in North Bay. She was an avid sports enthusiast, community volunteer and reader. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Ada Fraser of North Bay and Olive Fraser of Sudbury, her niece Anne Durocher of Alberta and her nephew Bruce Fraser of Sudbury. Norma enjoyed her working career as a secretary with the Boart Longyear Inc. from whom she retired.

BEATTY (nee Finnigan) - Sybil Marguerite
passed away peacefully at North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, on Monday, December 12, 2005, in her 88th year. Sybil was born on May 19, 1917, to Francis and Isobella Finnigan of Shawville, Que. Wife of the late Robert 0. (Bob) Beatty, beloved mother of Richard (Sheila), Oakville and Hal (Linda), North Bay, devoted and much-loved grandmother of Shannon, Kevin, Travis and Karen. Predeceased by brothers Frank, Ralph, Edward and Adam Finnigan, and sisters Lillas (Farrell), Jean (Henderson) and Leta (Horner). Survived by brother-in-law George Henderson. Sybil was an avid duplicate bridge player who spent many hours with friends enjoying her favourite pastime. She lived her life according to her heartfelt belief "One Day at a Time". Syb will be deeply and forever missed by all who had the very good fortune to be part of her life.Thanks to the nursing staff on 3 West and 4 West at NBGH Scollard Site for their excellent care.

Mr. Bale - Edward 'Ted'
Died at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Saturday June 2, 2007. Ted was the beloved husband of Judith Catharine "Judy" McDonald, he was 70 years old. Loving father of Greg Bale (wife Lisa) of Barrie, Diane Bale of the Netherlands, Erin Bale (wife Maureen) of Lefroy, Lisa MacDuff (husband Steve) of Gravenhurst. And step-father of Rick Walsh of London, Sheila Lamothe (partner Dean Gallant) of North Bay, John Walsh (wife Leslie) of Sudbury, Pat Walsh of Calgary and Melissa Bourgeois of Paris, Ontario. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Marissa, Jordan, Cassidy, Kieran, B.J., Rayna, Brennan, Alexandra, Ashley, Whitney, Dylan, Tanner, Warren, Jessica, Sara and by his great grandson Hayden. Dearly loved brother of Bill Bale (wife Lea) of North Bay, Ruth Galinski (husband Peter) of Pembroke, Frank Bale (wife Brenda) of London, Bonnie Bale of Sault Ste. Marie and Bob Bale (wife Sue) of Sudbury. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and many friends. Ted enjoyed his outdoor experiences in Northern Ontario and Quebec. When he was not at work for NIM or Laidlaw, he was either out with his team Dog sledding across this area or in Kipawa "Looking for that Big One". He was one of the original organizers or the North Bay Winter Carnival, and was proud of his work with the group.
Visitation will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 -4 and 7 -9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 1:30 PM. Ted's ashes will be interred following the service in the North Bay Union cemetery.

Mr. Joeveer - Edgar
In loving memory of Edgar (Ed) Joeveer, 88 years, a long time resident of North Bay who passed away Saturday June 2, 2007 at the Toronto East General Hospital. Ed successfully overcame many challenges throughout WWII and as a new immigrant to Canada. He loved Northern Ontario which reminded him of his Estonian homeland and in 1947, married Laine (Tischler) in Mattawa. He was a strong willed man who valued hard work and integrity. For much of his working life he was self- employed (Rutherglen Red & White General Store) and had real estate holdings in North Bay. Ed enjoyed business, doing home renovations, cross country skiing, speed walks along his lakeside Anita Ave. home, boating, snowmobiling and parties in his earlier days (also a gifted accordion player). He often had a twinkle in his eye and was always quick with a humorous comment. Life was never the same for him after he lost his dear wife Laine in 1994. His children and grandchildren became ever more important to him. Loving father of Karin (partner Doug) of Toronto, Roy (wife Grace) of Sudbury, dear grandfather of Irma Joeveer (friend Cindy) of Toronto, Mark Joeveer of Toronto and Gwen Joeveer (fiancé Gautam) of Ottawa. Loving brother of Elli and Meinhard (both predeceased) of Estonia.

SCOTT - Donald Raymond
Retired Inspector North Bay City Police Life long North Bay resident Don Scott died peacefully at his home on Tuesday June 5, 2007, after a valiant struggle with cancer at the age of 72 years. Don was the beloved and devoted husband of Delta (nee Robinson) whom he married 50 years ago at North Bay. The proud and loving father of David (Sylvie) of Orleans, Dawn Toner (Bruce) of Hillsdale and Daren (Dana) of Richmond, Texas. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Melanie, Nicholas, Melissa, Shawn, Kieran and Mackenzie. Dear brother of Art (Mavis) of North Bay & Marion Wingo (Bob) of Hinton, Alberta. Don was predeceased by his parents the late Clifford and Hannah Scott, his sister Florence Matkin (Sam predeceased) and his brother Cecil. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters and brothers in law Bernice Haggart (Ken), Eileen South and Beverley Wood (Bob) all of North Bay and Babe Robinson (Art predeceased) of Rouyn, Quebec.
Born and raised in North Bay Don received his elementary and secondary education here. Following high school he was employed by the ONR and worked in the paint shop for ten years. In 1962 he was able to fulfill his goal of becoming a policeman and joined the North Bay City Force. Thirty years later, in 1992, he retired as an Inspector after what he described as a wonderful career. Don and Delta were avid golfers and retirement allowed them the opportunity to travel and golf with their many friends. Don was a member of the 422 Wing and the North Bay Golf & Country Club.

Mrs. Humphrey (nee Huff) - Eileen
Mrs. Eileen Mildred Humphrey died peacefully at Cassellholme on Thursday June 14, 2007 at the age of 95 years. Eileen was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles, who predeceased her in 1978. The dearly loved mother of W.W. C. "Bill” Humphrey and his wife Sharron of Temagami and June Humphrey-Duggan of Ottawa, she was predeceased by her son Robert Clarke "Carpy” in 1980. She will be lovingly remembered by her thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and her 4 great great grandchildren. Eileen is also survived by her brother Gary Huff of Peterborough and was predeceased by brothers Willet and Lorne Huff and will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, with special thanks to those who visited. Long time residents of Temagami Eileen and Charles where entrepreneurs and operated several business throughout their colourful lives.

Loving mother of Marvin Mantha, Mary Jane Mantha both of North Bay and Blair Mantha and his wife Diana of Peterborough. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Mary Katherine, Ava and Ana. Dearly loved sister of Millicent Doward and Sandra Ryan both of Toronto and Peter Boire and his wife Alex of North Bay. Beloved daughter of the late Jeanne & Donat Boire. Marien formerly had been a member of the W A at St. John's Anglican Church and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23.

The family announce with sorrow the passing of Joyce in her 86th year. Joyce is survived by her children David McKenney (Darlene Laferriere), Suzanne McKenney (Keith Hamilton), Tom McKenney (Norma), Peter McKenney (Penny McIntrye), Ruth Ann Caley (Bob). A beloved Nana to Katie, Jamie, Anna Mary, Emily, Mason, Melissa, Melanie, Bill, Rob, Kerri-Lynn, Sarah, Jon, Candice and Marley and great grand Nana to Jace, Jessie, Jacob and Matthew. Predeceased by husbands Jack McKenney, Harvey Lawrence and Henry Langlois.
Joyce retired in1987 from the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital and was previously employed at Sun Life. She was a faithful member of St. Brice’s Anglican Church. Joyce will be remembered as generous, caring and selfless….her love for God, family and friends was evident through-out her life.
