MARSDEN - Edna Louise
Died after lengthy illnesses at the North Bay General Hospital-Scollard Site, on Saturday, January 31, 2004. Edna Louise Allan, was the beloved wife of Bert Marsden, in her 76th year. Loving mother of Don Marsden and his wife Wilma of North Bay and Bob Allan and his wife Carol also of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Allyssa, Cameron and Jonathan. Predeceased by her daughter Jennifer and by her siblings Peggy, Thelma, William and Robert Sr. Dearly loved sister of Bernice of North Bay and David of Sarnia. Edna's family will receive friends in the Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall) on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2- 4 and 7-9 PM. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.

Died peacefully at the Liesureworld Care Giving Centre on Saturday, January 31, 2004. Heinrich Brinkmann, beloved husband of the late Berta Meyer, in his 89th year. Loving father of Ingrid Merkel and her husband Gus of North Bay, Barbara Brinkmann of Elmvale and Brian Brinkmann (Louise) also of North Bay. Loving "Opa" of Ralph Merkel (Julie), Linda Merkel (John) and Thomas Brinkmann. Great-Opa of Adam, Daniel and Jami. Heinrich was one of the founding members of the North Bay Germania Club. McLEOD - Bruce
The family announces with deep sadness the passing of Bruce McLeod on Saturday December 4, 2004 at the North Bay General Hospital Scollard Site in his 89th year. Predeceased by his wife Una. Survived by his children Barbara (Barry) Hallett, Patricia (Ron) Sayer, Robert McLeod, and Joanne McLeod. Grandfather of Angela Shosenberg, Natalee McCulloch, David and Peter Hallett, Ryan and Graehem Sayer, Jahcoba and Jaeden McLeod. Great grand father of Emily, Strickland, Kelsey, Joshua and Victoria. At Bruce's request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation with interment at the Terrace Lawn cemetery.

Peacefully surrounded by her family at the North Bay General Hospital on Saturday December 4, 2004, in her 74th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Lorne Francis Dobbs on June 6, 1991. Dear mother of Donald, Rodney, Gary (Kathy), Rick (Jane), all of North Bay, and Julie Mae Ralph (Fred) of Petawawa. Lovingly remembered by her 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Robert Belanger (Barbara) of Callander. Dear daughter of the late Cecile and Emile Belanger. In accordance to June’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no service.

Suddenly at her home on Sunday December 5, 2004. Marie, beloved wife of the late William Barkhouse, in her 87th year. Step-mother of John, Gary, Leona Buller (Guy), Ray (Donna), and Rod (Debbie). Grandmother of four. Dear sister of Muriel Carnduff (Syd), June Davey (Bill), and Gordon Speers (Joan); sister-in-law of Vera Miller, Eleanor Whisken, and Archie Barkhouse (Irene). She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.

JOSEPH - Olive "Ollie"
After a courageous struggle with Cancer at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Monday December 6, 2004 in her 82nd year. Dear wife of Abe Joseph for 65 years. Loving mother of Judith Hewitt (William) of Maple Ridge, B.C., Patricia Habeth (predeceased July 22, 1995), Sherry Sullivan of North Bay, Linda Johnson-Hartley (Gerry) of Bath, Ont. and Deborah Joseph of Toronto. Gramma Jo will be sadly missed by 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. If desired donations to the Lung Association or the Gathering Place would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

PRYSKO - Ivan (Shorty)
Died at the North Bay General Hospital-Scollard Site on Tuesday December 7, 2004 in his 82 nd year. Survived by his cousin Nestor Prisco and family. Ivan worked at the St Regis Hotel from 1951 to 1967. He retired from Craig Bit in 1988 after 20 years employment. The family expresses appreciation to the staff at Leisureworld and nurses at NBGH.

Powell - George
passed away on Thursday December 13, 2001. George was a kind and loving man, and will be sadly missed by his wife Audrey of 61 years, and his three sons George (Marianne), Bailey (Paulette), and Walter (Patti). Dear grandfather of eight, and great-grandfather of two. George worked for the Ministry of Health for 33 years, and during the war he served with the medical core. He was Regional Consultant and Chief public health Inspector for the unorganized territories. SOULE-WOTHERSPOON - Winnifred Edith "Wynne"
passed away surrounded by her family in Barrie on Thursday, December 9, 2004. Wynne's life was dedicated to her family and later to her career as a teacher and a guidance counsellor. With her first husband, George Soule, Wynne raised five children. For the first 17 years of her marriage she was a homemaker and an active volunteer in the North Bay community including the Order of the Eastern Star and St. Andrew's United Church. At the age of 39 Wynne graduated from the North Bay Teachers' College. In her more than 20 years with the Nipissing Board of Education, Wynne assisted students of all ages not just with their education but with their lives. Taking courses two or three a year at a time, Wynne obtained her B.A. from Nipissing University after 13 years of studying. She received her Masters from the University of Toronto at the age of 54 and completed her education at the Cambridge Institute of Education in England when she was 61. During this time, Wynne was an active member of the Federated Women's Teachers Assocation of Ontario eventually becoming chief negotiator for her region. In retirement, Wynne enjoyed a second time of happiness with second husband Bill Wotherspoon. She remained active golfing, gardening, playing bridge and travelling. She is survived by five children: Wynne (Gary), George (Lydia), Diane, Bill (Donna) and Jan. She is also survived by grandchildren Sean (Rhonda), Michael (Jen), Ryan, Meaghan and Marnie Fitz-Gerald; George and Kori Soule; Amanda and Sabrina Shukin; Erika, Stacey (Marcus), and Brett Soule and Stephanie (Tom) and Heather Dranitsaris and Great-granddaughter Maddison Fitz-Gerald. Also lovingly remembered by Kathryn Soule. She will be remembered by her in-laws Violet Connelly (Ivan), Howard Soule (Elsie), June McKinnon and their families. Wynne is pre-deceased by husbands George Soule and Bill Wotherspoon, two children Wesley (Skipper) and Isabelle and three brothers Bernard, Harry and Robert.

BURGOYNE - Rosamond Marjorie
passed away at the Nipissing Manor Nursing Care Centre, on Wednesday, December 15th, 2004. Rosamond Hyson was the beloved wife of Elisha Thomas Burgoyne, she was 70 years old. Loving mother of Margaret and her husband Keith Jarvis of Seagrave, Ontario, Catherine and her husband Luke Ranger of Kitchener and Tommy Burgoyne of Callander. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Charity, Jeffery, Tyler, Corissa and Ariana. She was the dear sister of Janet Slauenwight of Nova Scotia. Predeceased by her parents Dennis and Nora Hyson and by her sibling Dennis, Pearl, Annie, Theresa and Emma.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #445 (Callander). Cremation was held at the Forest Lawn Crematorium and Rosamond’s ashes will be interred at the Nipissing Junction cemetery in the spring. BRUSH - Garfield Gordon
passed away suddenly with his wife at his side at his home in North Bay on Monday December 13, 2004. Pre-deceased by his mother and father Iris and Elmer Brush. Survived by his stepfather Fritz Tabler. Beloved husband of Gail (Cartwright). Loving father of Jennifer (Richard) Lefebvre, Poppa to Chelsee and Arthur. Lovingly remembered by his stepchildren Chrissy, Kelly, Cassey and Grandpa to Kayla, Leesha and Gabrielle. He will be sadly missed by his brothers Bill Brush (Joanne), Harold (Terri), also lovingly remembered by Tracy, Dustin, Terri Lynne, Jamie, Billy and Auntie Peggy. As per Garfield's request no funeral service will be held. The family will be gathering privately to celebrate his life. Garfield was the type of person that if you ever had the privilege of meeting him, you would never forget him. For 20 years he was known for delivering the local papers. He loved his yearly canoe trips with his cousins, golfing at Pinewood and playing crib with friends on Tuesday nights. He was happiest when relaxing in his lazyboy chair with a diet coke, a bowl of popcorn watching old John Wayne movies over and over again. Garfield, you were taken from us before your time, but we know that God has a special purpose for you and your sense of humour in heaven. We will always love you.

CLARK - George Meldrum
passed away peacefully on Thursday December 16th, 2004 at Cassellholme, while in his 89th year. George was the beloved husband of Nancy for 66 wonderful years. Dear father of Sharon (deceased), David, and Barry. Cherished Grampy of Susan Dunn, Kathryn Jordan, Ian Clark and Samantha Clark. Loving and devoted Great Grampy of Cory and Tyler Jordan, Joey and Valerie Dunn and Kevin and Christopher Clark. George leaves his family with a legacy of commitment and duty to his country as a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air force and a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion, New Liskeard Branch.

BOYD (SPINA) - William Francis "Bill”
Died at the Leisureworld Care Giving Centre, on Sunday, December 19, 2004. Bill was the beloved husband of Betty Joan Paul, he was 71 years old. Loving father of Deborah Brown and Katherin Lascelles both of North Bay and Frank Boyd and his wife Evelyn of Alliston. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Stacy-Lin, Roslyn, Erin and Amy. Dearly loved brother of Marlene Dixie and Ken Spina and his wife Barb both of Brockville and David Boyd and his wife Marge of Whitby. Predeceased by his parents Vincenzio & Doris Ethel May Spina. Bill was a true survivor, he battled back after a severe snowmobile accident January 1, 1972. He worked as a civilian plumber at the CFB North Bay for over 26 years, retiring in 1987.
Visitation will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall) on Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:30 PM and Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time for services in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM. Cremation will follow the service. If desired, donation to the "Ladies Auxiliary of Leisureworld” will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
