Died at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Tuesday, July 20, 2004. John Bakker, was the beloved husband of Mary Ouwendyk, in his 77th year. Loving father of Lucy Martino and her husband Nick of Barrie, Rick Bakker and Lorraine of Victoria, BC, John Bakker and his wife Joanne of North Bay, Perry Bakker and his wife Victoria of Chisholm, Barb Bakker and Rejean Robidas of Bonfield and Lea-Anne Bakker and Randy Cooper of Alliston. Lovingly remembered by his 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his 8 siblings in Holland. Suddenly but peacefully at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital On Monday July 19, 2004 in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of Dorothy for 51 years of marriage. Wonderful and loving father of Dory and her husband Richard Chrest and Dolores and her husband Rae Dobbie. Dear grandfather of David and Kristie Dobbie and Tammy Chrest (husband Shawn Richards). INGIMUNDSON - Lois
Lois passed away unexpectedly on Saturday July 17, 2004 in her 81st year. Lois shared her love for life and exuded warmth and friendliness to all those who crossed her path. She filled the roles of teacher, friend, wife, mother, and sister to Sheila and Harvey (predeceased) and grandmother to Sarah and David. She raised two sons, Bernie (Debbie) and Carl (Stephanie), with her loving husband Ben (predeceased). More recently Lois enjoyed travelling the world with her good friend Bob Brown of Deep River. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Died at his home on Friday, July 16th, 2004. Glen Cross, was the husband of Stella Spinks, in his 86th year. Loving father of Leonard and his wife Margaret of Callander, Raymond of Mattawa, Delbert Cross and Betsy Michaud both of Milton. Predeceased by two of his children Lila and Clarence, by his parents Rueben and Viola Cross and by his siblings Helen Smith, Jack & Cecil Cross. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his daughter-in-law Claudette Cross and son-in-law Richard Michaud. Loving mother of Hazel Pratt of Hanover, Ont., James (Lorraine) of Winnipeg and Terrence of Toronto. Lovingly remembered by her three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Born in Hardwick, New Brunswick on September 29th, 1942 Wilma was the dear daughter of the late William Albert Mills and Agnes (Potter) Mills. Predeceased by her brothers George and Harold and sisters Althea and Joan. Survived by brothers Glenwood of Miramichi, N.B., John (Audrey) of Pefferlaw, Ontario, Daniel (Theresa) of Sharon, Ontario, Guy (Marina) of Campbellton, N.B. and Paul (Nan) of Miramichi, N.B., and sisters Nina Flam and Jean Fitzpatrick, both of Miramichi, N.B., Della MacLean (Myron) of Black River, N.B., and Margaret Poley (Bill) of London, Ontario. A dedicated wife and mother Wilma worked as a hairdresser for several years. SOUTH - Virginia Agnes
passed away peacefully at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital, on Saturday, July 10, 2004. Virginia was the beloved daughter of the late Louis John South and his wife the former Jane Anderson. She was 72 years old. Loving sister of Shirley Hepburn of British Columbia, Hazel (Mrs. Jerry Castillo) of Washington, Phyllis (Mrs. Dave Whidden) of British Columbia and Mary Lou (Mrs. John Shutt) also of Washington. Lovingly remembered by all her nieces and nephews, especially those who were able to be close to her Bill & Lynn, Darlene, Steve and Debi. Predeceased by her siblings Mabel Argo, Gordon and Alfred South. Virginia worked as a Telephone Operator for Bell Canada, here in North Bay for many years, retiring in the mid 80's. Kreitzer - Florence Ann 'Jones'
Kreitzer, Florence Ann (nee Jones) on Thursday, December 6th, 2001, at the North Bay General Hospital following a difficult fight with cancer in her 71st year. Florence was the beloved wife and high-school sweetheart of Ronald Kreitzer. An only child, she was predeceased by her mother, Doris Ann Jones (Evans) and her father, William Norman Jones. Lovingly remembered by her two children, Paul and wife Cindy (Hodgins) of Kanata and granddaughters Jessica and Alanna; and by daughter Nancy and husband Denis Courchesne of Sturgeon Falls and grandchildren Evan and Erica. Flo was a loyal Air Force wife, faithfully following her husband's 37-year military career through thick and thin, many postings, moves and absences, never to complain and never despaired-an indispensable helpmate. She is sorely missed. No funeral or visitation. Cremation and interment in the Jones family section at Mount Royal cemetery , Montreal. A family memorial will be held later. A Student at Nipissing University. Died at the North Bay General Hospital, on Monday, July 5, 2004. Jim O'Rourke was the beloved son of Willie and Glenda O'Rourke, he was 26 years old. Loving brother of Shelley and Julie both at home in Fitzroy Harbour. Dearly loved grandson of Everton and Laura Barr of Fitzroy Harbour and Rita O'Rourke of Stittsville. Predeceased by his grandfather Martin O'Rourke. Lovingly remembered by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. At the North Bay General Hospital on Sunday July 4th, 2004, at the age of 79years. Audrey "Lou" Michelakas was the beloved wife of the late Charles Albert Brown, who predeceased her in 1999. The proud and loving mother of Kathy, and Stephen and his wife Donna, both of North Bay. Yaya will be lovingly remembered by her grandson Cody. Dear sister of Eva Wardlaw of North Bay, Mike and his wife Vicki of Toronto and Leo Mitchell of Waterloo. Born in Greece Lou came to North Bay at the age of seven. An avid bowler she bowled in the Wednesday Ladies League for twenty-seven years, never missing a week. A dedicated wife and mother Lou will be greatly missed by her family and friends. At the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Thursday July 1, 2004. John Clyde Russell, was the beloved husband of Catherine Edna Smith. Beloved father of Karyn Knapp and her husband Danny Philion of North Bay, Barbara Lafontaine and her husband William of Brighton and Kathy Haskins and her husband Randy of Ottawa. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Amanda, Jeffrey, Michael and Jessica. Clyde was predeceased by his parents John and Amy Russell and by his siblings Victor Russell, Beatrice Harrison, Hilda MacGillivray, Mildred Morland and Cecil Russell. Clyde was an Officer with the RCAF during the Second World War. He was stationed in Canada and was a Flight Instructor for the Air Force. After the War, he worked in the North Bay Real Estate Market, with several different Agencies and for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Clyde retired in 1983. Peacefully on Friday September 12, 2003 at Cassellhome, at the age of 82 years. Ed was born in North Bay on October 8, 1920. He was the beloved husband of Peggy (nee Leslie) for over 60 years. Loving father of Bruce (Marion) of Sault Ste. Marie, Nancy (Dan Nickless) of Sherkston, Janet (Phil Reid) of Val Caron, Scott of North Bay, and Anne (Paul Gervais) of North Bay. Proud grandfather of Jennifer & Kristen Avery, Tina (Chris Aultman), Kevin Nickless (Corina), Jason Reid (Michelle), Christina Reid (Neil), James, Jannah, & Justin Avery, and Sarah & Amy Gervais. Great-grandfather of Melissa & April Aultman, Amanda and Jacob Nickless, and Benjamin Reid. Dear brother of Eileen Purdon of North Bay, and brother-in-law of Cliff White. Predeceased by his siblings Clifford, Lillian Barker, Marjorie Valiquette, and Ruth White. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Ed served in the RCAF during WW2. He returned to North Bay to work at North Bay Hydro in 1945, where he retired as Line Supervisor in 1983. Ed was a member of the RCL- Branch 23, and an active member of Laurier Avenue United Church. Ed and Peggy raised their five children in their home on Laurier Avenue. TILVIS - Tauno
Born December 22, 1928 in Finland. Died September 13, 2003 at the Nipissing Manor Nursing Care Center. Survived by his sister Liisa Kahtava and sister in law Anna-Liisa Tilvis both of Finland. Remembered by his many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews in Finland. He was predeceased by his parents Eino Heikki Tilvis and Tyyne Maria Tilvis and by his brother Kauko. Tauno will be sadly missed by his dear friends Lawrence and Vivian Lebel, Greg Rassel, Peal Fitzsimmons, Hank Mayer and the many friend and staff at Nipissing Manor, where he enjoyed his last few years. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium on Tower Drive.

McCULLOCH - William
At Leisureworld Caregiving Centre on Monday September 15, 2003. Depot (Colbalt). He was a former employee of CIP in Temiscaming, Left behind are his wife Bertha (Baumann) of 62 years; children Peter McCulloch (Shirley) of Temiscaming, and Liz Cowan (Bruce) of North Bay; and granddaughters Linda, Sandy & Donna McCulloch, and Erin & Colleen Cowan. Predeceased by his parents, the former Mary McEwen of Mattawa and Peter McCulloch of Lanark, and brothers Clarence and Jack McCulloch. Gord was born on March 17, 1914 in Gillies and joined the RCAF in 1941 as an armourer instructor. He returned to Temiscaming where he worked at the mill in the planning department. Gord was very active in the community and was involved in such youth programs as track and field, and a boy's club at Temkin. He was also a founding member of the Temiscaming Curling Club, and the Temiscaming Ski Club. Gord started the Tem Times, a weekly newspaper in Temiscaming which was published for 23 years, and served as Editor. He freelanced for the North Bay Nugget, the Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star before accepting a full-time position at age 58 with the Nugget. He was the district reporter for the Temiscaming-Mattawa bureau and then district editor before returning to reporting, which he preferred. He continued to work for the newspaper well into his seventies, and also wrote a weekly column, Pine Cones, up until three years ago. Gord received several awards for his writing, including the Western Ontario Newspaper Awards, and the Canadian Press Wire Awards. He enjoyed the outdoors and passed on that love to his children while spending many weekends in the bush ice-fishing, camping, cross country skiing, hiking and boating along the Ottawa River and Lake Temiscaming. Friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday September 20th at 2 p.m. at Legion Branch #18 (210 Kipawa Road in Temiscaming, Quebec). Interment of ashes at 2:30 p.m. at Temiscaming cemetery. A reception will follow at the Legion Hall.
