CARMICHAEL - Wayne
Suddenly at home on Saturday March 18, 2006 at 61 years of age. Loving father of Jason (Nicole) of North Bay and Karen Stitt (Wynn) also of North Bay. Sadly missed by grandchildren Brittany, Andrea and Wyatt. Former husband of Kathy. Son of Blanche and the late Ross Carmichael. Predeceased by his brother Gary and by his sister Elaine Sullivan. Wayne retired from the Nipissing Board of Education enjoying his days at the cottage on Red Cedar Lake.

Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1 - 2:30 pm. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:30 pm. Interment at the Forest Lawn cemetery.

If desired donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

THORNE - Ralph Norman
At Leisureworld Nursing Care Center on Sunday, March 19, 2006. Ralph was the beloved husband of Pearl Nicholls, he was in his 72nd year. Loving father of Stephen (Jody), Michael (Nathan) and Pamela. Ralph will be reuniting with his beloved son Kevin. Dearly loved step-father of Darlene (Dwight Floyd), Patricia Dawn (Denis Hebert), Dale and Grant. He will be lovingly remembered by his granddaughter Gillian Scott. Dear brother of Jack and Marguerite.

A Private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium with Ralph's ashes being interred in the family plot in the Cambridge-Narrows Community cemetery , New Brunswick.

Mr. Setchell - Clarence
Long time resident of North Bay and area, Clarence Setchell died peacefully at North Bay, on Friday March 24th, 2006 at the age of 78 years. Clarence was the beloved husband of the former Muriel Eva Judd, who predeceased him in 1996. He was the proud and loving father of Judy Larsen (Merrill) of MaGrath, Alberta, Holly Barbe (Gilles) of Port Elgin, and David (Wendy) of North Bay. He will be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Clarence was predeceased by one grandchild Christa Barbe. He is survived by his brother Russell (Joan) of Sturgeon Falls, and sister June Scope (John) of Pickering. Born in Field, Clarence was predeceased by his parents, the late Helen and William Setchell and brothers Gordon and Charles. A former employee of Dupont Canada, Clarence’s career began in the early years when the company opened its Nipissing Works Plant.. He retired in 1987 as foreman for the acid plant, with 25 plus years of service. In his younger days he enjoyed gardening, fishing, masonry and stone work, and building furniture heirlooms for his grandchildren. Once retired, he had more time for golfing, painting, music, yard work and HAM radio. Clarence truly valued the companionship of his friends and especially enjoyed being around younger people. His dogs, Johnie and Billie meant the world to him. Clarence enjoyed bible study and attended St. Brice’s Anglican Church.

Clarence’s family will receive their friends in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across for city hall) on Wednesday March 29th from 2 to 4 pm and evening from 7 to 9 pm.. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am on Thursday March 30th. Cremation will follow with interment of ashes in Terrace Lawn cemetery. If desired donations to the North Bay General Hospital Foundation building Fund will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

Mrs. Robertson (nee Stark) - Jean
At Cassellholme, North Bay, on Tuesday March 21st, 2006 at the age of 93 years. Jean Adeline Agnes Stark, dearly loved wife of the late Edison Arthur Robertson, who predeceased her in 1990. Born in North Bay in 1913 Jean was the daughter of the late Frederick & Catherine Stark (nee Wright). She was predeceased by her brothers William, Howard and Gordon. Jean was the loved aunt of Verna Jean & Ewart Magill and their family, and will also be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, & great nieces and great nephews. A nurse by profession Jean served as a "nursing sister" during the Second World War. She worked for many years in the North Bay Hospitals then at Cassellholme. Jean was a dedicated member of St. John's Anglican Church.

Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Friday evening, March 24th from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday March 25th, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.. Spring interment in Terrace Lawn cemetery. If desired donations to the North Bay General Hospital Foundation Building Fund or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

Mr. Kripotos (a.k.a. Kane) - Nicholas 'Nick'
At the Sudbury Regional Hospital – Laurentian Site, on Sunday, March 19, 2006. Nick was the beloved husband of Rosemarie Jongen, he was born in North Bay on June 10, 1937. He was the dear friend of Marion Kripotos. Dearly loved brother of Jim Kripotos and his wife Pauline and Joanne and her husband James McIsaac both of North Bay and brother-in-law of John Jongen and his wife Bonnie and Jackie McFarland and her husband Keith both of Kilworthy. He was the loving uncle of Connie Palangio and her husband Jamie, Jason & Robin Jongen, Mark and Megan McFarland and great uncle to Jimmy and Jessie. Nicholas was predeceased by his parents Gus and Olga Kripotos and by his nephew Christopher Alkins.

Nick’s family will receive friends in the Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall) on Saturday, March 25th from 12noon until time for services in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM. Cremation with interment of ashes in the family plot in Terrace Lawn cemetery. If desired, donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

Mr. Bain - Alexander
Died at North Bay General Hospital – Scollard Site, on Monday, March 27, 2006. Beloved husband of the late Jessie (nee Hill). Step-father to Charlie Martin (Julie), June Johnson and Shirley Murphy. Dear grandfather to many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren Lovingly remembered by his brother Harry Bain and his sister Jean Brookes both of Port Loring. Predeceased by his brother Jim Bain.

Family receiving friends at the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday, March 30th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service in the funeral home chapel on Friday, March 31st, at 10 am. Interment at the Terrace Lawn cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

Mr. Grant - Douglas
At the North Bay general Hospital, McLaren Site on Sunday March 26, 2006 in his 78th year. Predeceased by the late Irene Anderson. Father of Danny Grant of Toronto and Nancy Anderson (Rick Cunnington) of North Bay. Survived by grandchildren Melinda and Chad and great grandson Nathanial. Predeceased by his sister Allison Hughes. Douglas was a proud member of the RCAFA 406 Wing.

MAROOSIS (nee VOUNALAKI) - Lola
passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 28, 2006. As a Christian, she is now at peace with her strong faith in the return of Jesus Christ and the promise of the resurrection. Beloved wife of the late Gus Maroosis and loving mother of Lillian, Sylvia, Rheta, George, Mary and Penny, Grandmother of Angela, Kaila, Jules, Helen, Alain, Kyle and Lara, Great Grandmother of Emma and Nikos. She was predeceased by her parents Nikos and Sylvia Vounalaki her sisters Penelope and Maria and her brothers Elias and George.

Lola was born in the south of Greece in the village of Monevasis and came to Canada as a young bride. She had a great passion for God, her family, her plants and birds.

According to her wishes, a private family funeral was held on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME with interment at Forest Lawn cemetery.

BERGER - Herbert Henry
In his 98th year, passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday April 4, 2006 at home. Survived by his wife Kathleen (Culin) of 62 years; Daughters: Eleanor McCallum of North Bay; Marilyn of Orillia; Sharon Rodgers (Gary) of North Bay, and son Keith Berger (Gaye) of North Bay. Predeceased by his son Mervyn and son-in-law Tom McCallum. Remembered by his 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Survived by his brother, Fred of Tavistock.

Resting at the Martyn Funeral Home. Visitation Friday from 7-9 pm; Funeral Services in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 11 am. Interment at the Port Loring Community cemetery.

In lieu of Flowers, donations to Elim Homes, Waubaushene would be appreciated by family.

COOK (nee Pitt) - Edith
Peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Thursday, April 6th, 2006. Born in North Bay on April 25, 1932, Edith Pitt was the beloved wife of the late Edward Cook. They were married December 13, 1952. Dear mother of Richard (Peggy) of North Bay, Mary van Velthoven of Winchester, Deb Gagne (Russ) of North Bay, Joe (Dar) of North Bay and Jim (Cindy) of Guelph. Sadly missed by 11 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. She will be remembered by her daughter- in- law Donna. Dear sister of Judy Stanley of Verner, Sheila Vachon of Oshawa, Gary Pitt and Fred Pitt both of North Bay and Melvin Pitt (Sheila) of William Lake, B.C. Predeceased by her daughter Marilyn, son John, son- in- law Roger, her parents Edward and Mary Pitt, brothers Gilbert, William, August and Ray and by her sisters Lilly Chassie and Mona Melia.

Friends may call at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Sunday from 2 -4 and 7 -9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 10th at 11 a.m. Interment at Terrace Lawn cemetery.

COOPER - Garth
The family announces with sorrow the passing of Garth Cooper on Saturday April 8, 2006 at the age of 67 years. Survived by his loving daughter Carrie, his former wife & best friend Brenda, and his brother Ian (Helaine). Garth worked as a morning news man and radio salesman at CFCH & CKAT radio stations. Garth was a true maritimer, he loved to fish and hunt and was known for his sense of humour.

Visitation for Garth will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Wednesday from 2- 4 and 7 - 9:00 PM. Funeral Services from Emmanuel United Church on Thursday, April 13th at 11:00 am. Cremation will follow the funeral.

If desired, donations to a Charity of Choice will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

ALKINS - Nora Maybelle
After a brief illness at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Sunday April 9, 2006 in her 83rd year. Dear wife of the late Thomas Alkins. Loving mother of Bruce, Bill (Pat), Bob (Linda), Jim (Candy) and Dan (Rhonda). Sadly missed by grandchildren Kelly, Tom, Melanie, Wesley, Ryan, Tyler and Samantha. Survived by her brothers Gerald and Claude, her sister Helen and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Lilly, Clive, Basil and Muriel. Nora was known for her knitting but was also involved in many other activities. She was a playground supervisor, one of the first librarians at the Callander Library, treasurer of the Pioneer Club and the Woman's Institute, an active member of Knox United Church and the Over 55 Club and helped with Meals on Wheels. Nora was the Alkins boys #1 fan.

Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Knox United Church in Callander on Wednesday at 11 am. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.

LECAPPELAIN - Alton
The family announces the passing of Alton Lecappelain on Saturday April 8, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Marie Joan Sim, he was born May 2, 1929 in Smooth Rock Falls, Ont. Loving father of Jim and his wife Jeannie, Steve and his wife Karen, Bruce and his wife Carolyn and Nancy and her husband Mike Walsh all of North Bay and Larry of Redbridge. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren David, Daniel, Mark, Amy (Jeremy), Curtis, Lisa, Jenna, Evan, Kelsey, Gregory, Bradley, Tyler, Serena, Sarah, Shawn and Kevin. Dearly loved brother of Beth Mousseau of North Bay. Predeceased by his parents Albert and Bessie Lecappelain and by his brother George.

Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A private family memorial service for Alton will be held on Wednesday. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.
