Betty Doreen Pigeau / Guillemette

PIGEAU / GUILLEMETTE, Betty Doreen - passed away peacefully at St Joseph's Hospital in Sudbury Feb 2 2008. Beloved wife of Henri Pigeau (deceased) and Joseph Guillmette (deceased). Predeceased by her parents Eric and Ethel Cheasley from Surrey, England and her daughter Dawn Kingaby nee [Pigeau] (Alan) and Suzanne Pigeau (Brian) She is survived by her Sister Beryl Stokes and brother George Cheasley both still in England, Garth [Fay] Pigeau, Chisholm. Brian Pigeau, Calgary, Norm [Judie] North Bay. David [Vicky] Winnipeg and Bernadette [Mauro] Picco of Hanmer. Betty will be sadly missed by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Betty came to Canada in 1966 from England to raise her family. She continued her career as a nurse at North Bay Psychiatric Hospital until she retired. She enjoyed her life to the fullest through her volunteer work with the War brides of Canada, Past president of the Ladies auxiliary of the Callander Legion #449 and Member of the St. John's Therapy Dogs in Sudbury. The family will be celebrating her life in private, as this was Betty's wish. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Rita Pollen

POLLEN, Rita - At North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, Monday, February 4, 2008 at the age of 81. Rita Pollen (née Ducharme) was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Lamirande and Donald Pollen and dearly loved mother of Yvonne Roberts and Gisele Lamothe (D'Arcy), Julie Larivière all of North Bay, Paul Lamirande (Jorene), Denis all of Oakville and George Lamirande (Denise) of Kanata. Lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Dear sister of Lina Bilberry of Missouri. Predeceased by a daughter Loraine Hnatiuk, her parents Cecile and Patrick Ducharme, eight sisters and five brothers. Rita was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 Ladies Auxillary. She was born in Manitoba but lived most of her adult life in Ontario making North Bay home since 1957. Rita was very active in local politics and at the Provincial level. She was on the Board of Directors for the North Bay Health Unit. She opened her home to take in children from Children's Aid. Family receiving friends at the McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME today, Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 Ladies Auxillary service will be held today, Thursday at 3 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted in the Funeral Home Chapel, Friday at 11:15 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

Robert Rowe

ROWE - Robert (Bob) - Captain Bob Rowe was born in North Bay, ON where he lived for most of his life. He skippered the Chief Commanda II until 1986. Captain Bob loved the water and therefore could be found plying the waters of Lake Nipissing and the French River. He eventually settled in Saskatchewan with his wife, Lois, but never lost his joy of the water life. Bob was predeceased by his parents, William and Ida (nee Gauthier) Rowe; a brother, Lorne and a sister, Alice. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Lois of Bird's Point, SK; daughter, Rhonda (Rick) Ford of Stockholm, SK; son, Michael (Lenise) Rowe of Qu'Appelle, SK; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Mae (Bryden) Lloyd of Aurora, ON; Edna (Hartley) Ritchie of London, ON and Shirley (Bruce) Robillard of Falconbridge, ON; brother, Garnet (Marj) Rowe of Hamilton, ON and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held January 30, 2008 at Whitewood, SK with interment in the Whitewood cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to MATTHEWS FUNERAL HOME, Whitewood.

Jeannette St-Jean

ST-JEAN, Jeannette - At Cassellholme, Sunday, February 3, 2008, in her 88th year. Jeannette St-Jean loved mother of Richard Beaulieu of Calgary and Marcel Beaulieu of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by grandson Robert of Toronto. Predeceased by her parents Marie and Oscar St. Jean and brothers Roger (Odile surviving), Rene and Lionel St. Jean. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste-Bernadette's Church, Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Spring intement Bonfield cemetery. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME.

BOUWHUIS, Ynzedoores - passed away suddenly at the Royal Victoria Hospital on Tuesday February 5, 2008. Ynzedoores (Ishe) Bouwhuis in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Catherine (Tienie) Bouwhuis for 50 years. Dear mother of John Bouwhuis and wife Ann of Brechin, Frank Bouwhuis and wife Marianne of Orillia, and Joanne Bouwhuis of Raglan. Loving grandmother of Drake, Julianne and Rebecca Bouwhuis. He is survived by 2 brothers and 1 sister, and predeceased by 3 brothers in Holland. Friends may call at the STECKLEY-GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME 30 Worsley Street (at Clapperton Street) Barrie on Friday February 8, 2008 at 1 PM. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 2 PM. Cremation. Service of Committal to follow at St. Mary's cemetery. Memorial donations to the Royal Victoria Hospital Regional Cancer Care Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Gordon Bryan

BRYAN, Gordon Sloan (Former owner of Tottenham Dairy and retired employee of Simcoe County Social Services) - passed away at the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Orillia on Monday, February 4th, 2008, Gordon Bryan; in his 89th Year, of Coldwater. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen Bryan (Waddling - nee: Lindo). Loved by his stepchildren Betty Letherby, Arla Miller (Doug) both of Coldwater, and Carlton Waddling (Mary) of Horseshoe Valley, by his 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and close cousins. Predeceased by his sister Lorna Bryan. At Gordon's request there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to the COLDWATER FUNERAL HOME, Coldwater (686-3344).

GLENESK, Betty M. McCallister - passed away February 1, 2008 at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie. Will be sadly missed by sister Marjorie Whillans, niece Holly Spacek, grandson Benjamin Perry and many other family members. Predeceased by daughter Deborah Perry and sister Dorothy Pennal. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Service to take place at the Trinity United Church, 24 Collier Street, Barrie on Friday February 8 at 2:30p.m. Reception to follow. Ethel Jarvis (nee: Fenton), of Orillia and formerly of Lake St. George, beloved wife of the late William Alexander (Alex) Jarvis. Loving mother of Robert (Bob) and wife Marjorie of Orillia. Dear sister of Mrs. Mary (husband Cecil (predeceased) Morgan of Ramara Twsp., Mrs. Evelyn Ferguson & Joe Starr of Oro-Medonte and Robert predeceased. Lovingly remembered by niece and care-giver Jane & husband Bill Shepperd of Mara Twsp., and fondly remembered by several other nieces and nephews. The late Mrs. Ethel Jarvis will rest at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia on Friday morning, February 8th, from 11 o'clock until time of Funeral Service in the chapel at 1 o'clock. Spring Interment :- St. George's Anglican Church cemetery , Cooper's Falls. If desired, Memorial Donations to the Alzheimer Society, Orillia Branch or the Canadian Bible Society would be gratefully appreciated.

John Charles Moore

MOORE, John Charles - (Lifetime employee and owner of Parry Automotive) After a long and brave battle with cancer, John (Jack) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday February 5 2008. He was in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of 58 years to Noreen. Loving father and father-in- law of Sylvia (Steve) Gapp, Jim (Barb), and Rick. Predeceased by daughter Nancy (Keith) McCutcheon. Very sadly missed by his grandchildren Tara (Garrett), Aaron, Matthew, Kyla and Megan. Proud great- grandpa of Sophia. John will be fondly remembered by his many relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call at the STECKLEY-GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME (201 Minet's Point Rd. at Yonge St.), Barrie on Thursday from 7-9 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service in the chapel at 11:00 am. Spring interment Knox cemetery , Oro. As expressions of sympathy, a donation to the Royal Victoria Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Grateful thanks to the RVH Oncology nurses and doctors who assisted John in his battle as well as Bayshore nurses, especially Andrea, who made sure of his comfort at home. Berniece Gedye

1920 - 2008 GEDYE, Berniece - passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 after a debilitating fall in January. Beloved wife of the late Jack Paul Gedye (1986). Berniece will be dearly missed by her loving daughter Lynda and favourite son-in-law Peter de Jonge van der Halen and by her loving grandson David and his fiancee Tami Wilkins. Berniece will also be missed by her friends who loved and cared for her. With heartfelt thanks to Evelyn & Bill Graham, Kathy Penton and Art Prosser, Joe & Margaret Woelfl, Ruth Yap, John & Cathy Walsh, Fran & Frank Novak, Connie & Robin Lott and the other friends and neighbours from Fairview Ave., a wonderful and caring community. We appreciate the caring and kindness of all of the staff in the Lancaster neighbourhood in Henley House and we are grateful for the Tapestry philosophy. Berniece had a special affection for her four footed friends: Toby, Martindale, Maddy, Marty, Penny and Lemon.Mrs. Gedye is at the NIAGARA ST. ANDREYCHUK, Ann (nee Wisnoski) - Peacefully, at Deer Park Villa, Grimsby, on Monday, February 04, 2008, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Nicholas (1989). Loving mother of David of Portland, OR, Gregory of Vancouver, Diane Pfeffer (Larry) of St. Catharines, Fred (Jan) of St. Catharines, Nicholas (Carol) of Grimsby and John (Michelle) Vancouver. Cherished grandmother of Alan, Phillip, Arlene, Wayne, Maria-Teresa, Lee Ann, Larry Jon, Nancy, Nick Jr., David and Katie and many great- grandchildren. Also missed by sister Jane Koluk, Teresa Dowhun, and brother Dave Wisnoski. Predeceased by siblings Bill Wisnoski, Elizabeth Tatarnic, and Olga Sawchuk. Ann worked as hostess during the hey day of the Casablanca Hotel. She was involved with St. Mary's Auxiliary for many years and served as President. Ann was known for her cooking and family gatherings when she took time off from her gardening and travels. She loved playing cards and winning at bingo. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, Grimsby (905- 945-2755) on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with Funeral Prayers at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 135 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Burial at Queen's Lawn cemetery , Grimsby. ANDREYCHUK, Frederick Barry “Friendly Fred“ - Suddenly in St. Catharines on Monday, February 4, 2008, in his 65th year. Much loved husband, bridge partner and best friend of Jan. He will be dearly missed by Jan's children, Steve Daskewich (Charlotte Clarke), Heather Stewart (Sean) and Jeff Daskewich (Renee) and their children, to whom he was more than a step-father and grandpa. Dear brother of David, Gregory, Diane (Larry), Nicholas (Carol) and John (Michelle). Cherished uncle of Alan, Phillip, Arlene, Wayne, Maria-Teresa, Lee Ann, Larry Jon, Nancy, Nick Jr., David and Katie. Fred enjoyed his work at McKesson Canada for over 40 years. He will always be remembered by his family and friends for his zest for life and the joy he brought to others through organizing events such as fishing, golf weekends and bridge tournaments. Fred will be sadly missed by his friends and partners at the Bridge Centre of Niagara. Wife of the late Robert Cosby (2003) and dear mother of Judy and Len Troup and Patricia Blair. Loved grandmother of Ron (Jackie), Tricia, Kim, Brad (Catherine), Judy (Mike) and Jill (Mike) and great grandmother of Garrison, Kathleen, Graham, Sunshine, Tuesday, Jessica and Matthew. Sister of Mary Taylor and predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters. Cremation has taken place. Ilarion Lasichuk

LASICHUK, Ilarion “Larry” ~ as the result of a stroke, just after his 90th birthday. Larry came to Canada after the war and retired after 30 of service for General Motors. He is survived by his wife Sophie, Thorold South, son Andrey, Ottawa and Martha (Alfred Kirkham), Bolton. Greatly missed by in-laws Vera and Yaroslav Werhanowsky as well as family and friends in Canada and abroad. He was well known for his craftsmanship in Ukrainian woodworking and his success in fishing. Panachyda will be celebrated in The Chapel at the LAMB-BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME, 2 Regent St., Thorold on Friday at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations to Pomich Ukraini Fund Children's Camps, c/o 2445 Bloor St. W., Toronto M6S 1P7 would be appreciated by the family.

John David McEachern

McEACHERN, John David - Peacefully at Welland County Hospital surrounded by his children on Monday, February 4th, 2008 in his 85th year. Beloved Father of David (Cathy), Charlotte (Roger) and John (Friend, Franca). Husband of the late Marian. Son of the late Tina and John McEachern. Survived by his sister Margaret (Bill) and brother Rodger (Carolyn). Predeceased by Mary (Bob), Ellen (James) and Ronnie. Cherished Grandfather of Emily (Brien) Tyler, Erin, Kevin and Kristina. Proud Great Grandfather of Joshua and Carter. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Dad enlisted in the Highland Light Infantry in 1942. He took part in the D Day Landing at Juno Beach and later was wounded at Boulogne. He was a member of Merritton Branch 138 Royal Canadian Legion. Employed with the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority of St, Catharines, he retired in 1989 with 32 years of government service. A very special thank you to his niece Sue Hutton and her husband Dr. Tim Hutton of Brantford for their kind and loving care of Dad during the past several years. Special thanks also to Dr. Broski and Dr. Hanna, Dr. McMillan, nurses at St. Catharines General and for the truly wonderful care he received at the Welland Hospital 3rd Floor Nephrology and Dialysis Units. A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove cemetery (formerly Kirkwood cemetery in Little Rapids) in the spring at a date to be announced. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family. A dignified accomplished gentleman, we are so very proud of our Dad. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

WICHERT, Elizabeth Louise - At Tabor Manor in St. Catharines on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, Louise Wichert, aged 86 years. Sister of John and Grace Wichert, George and Linda Wichert, Walter and Edith Wichert, Marian and Vic Loewen and Jake Wichert. The family will receive friends at the VINELAND CHAPEL of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3277 King St. on Thursday 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. Interment Friday, February 8th at 10 a.m. at Niagara Lake Shore cemetery. A Memorial Service will follow at Cornerstone Community Church in Virgil at 11 a.m. If desired memorial donations to Tabor Manor would be appreciated by the family.
