A. Janet (nee Drummond) Thurm - 12/03/2003

(A well known local artist who studied at the Montreal Museum of Fine Art, the Chicago Art Institute and was a graduate of Sir George Williams University) In hospital on Monday, December 1st, 2003 age 80 years. Beloved wife of Nelson for 42 years. Predeceased by her brother Douglas Drummond. Janet will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and her friends in the art community. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street after 12 noon Friday, December 5, 2003 until Service time in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Special thanks to the Nurses and Personal Care Assistants on F7 at the Civic Hospital for their care and kindness. Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Salvation Army.

Loving father of Wayne (Debi), Richard, Michael, Robert (Sue), Karen (Doug) and Lila. Devoted grandfather of Alfie, Amanda, Lisa, Vanessa and Jennifer. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road, on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 from 7-9pm and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service in the chapel on Friday at 2pm. Interment to follow at Pinecrest cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated

Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus on Monday, November 17, 2003 in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of Honorable Allison A. M. Walsh. Predeceased by her two daughters, Julia Keleher-Kelly and Diana Lockwood. Survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service to be announced at a later date. Arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry.

Dr. John Dale Weldon - 11/19/2003

Graduate of McGill University and the University of Western Ontario. Peacefully at the St. Vincent Hospital on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 in his 75th year. Loving and proud father of Ian, Anne (Paul Lacroix), Allan and Jane. Grandpa-Dale to Nicole and Patrick Weldon, and Benoit and Elizabeth Lacroix. Predeceased by his parents Ralph and Eileen Weldon, his brother Robert and sister Helen both in their infancy. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, November 20th, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, November 21st at 11am. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to the Parkinson's Society of Ottawa Carleton, 1053 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, On, K1H 4E9 would be appreciated. "Father, friend, mentor, respected physician and avis skier. We will greatly miss his intellect and dry wit."

Margaret White - 12/01/2003

Margaret passed away suddenly on November 25, 2003 at the West End Villa. Predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Roy White, she will be sadly missed by her brother Douglas (Arline) and her nieces Christine (Patrick) and Chantal (Stefano) and her grand-niece and nephew Veronique and William. A private family service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2003 at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe at 1 p.m. The family has requested that there be no public visitation. Donations may be made to the Ottawa Humane Society. The family wish to thank the staff at the West End Villa for their kindness, with special thanks to Gail Lascelle.

Ian Michael Wightman - 12/01/2003

On Friday, November 21, 2003, as the result of an accident, aged 56 years. Beloved son of Katharine B. Wightman (nee McMeans), the late J. Sheldon Wightman and brother of Jim. Retired teacher at Ridgemont High School. A Memorial Service will be held on a date to be announced. A Memorial Fund in Ian's name will also be announced. Arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry.

Journalist Montreal Star 1957 to 1969 Peacefully on November 20th, 2003 aged 74 years. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 from 6 p.m. until service time at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CHEO Foundation.

Joyce May Anderson - 02/09/2004

After a courageous battle with cancer, peacefully at home on Monday, February 9, 2004 surrounded by her children. Predeceased by her husband Andy. Loving mother of Bonnie (Keith Eastman), Tish (Mike MacDonald) and Andrew. Proud nanny of Matthew, Jessica, Michael, Rebecca, Emily and Mikaela. Sister of Frederick (Jean), Gerald (June), Gail Hill, the late Rena Cook and the late Lyman Hill. Survived by her sister-in-law Marilyn Hill and brother-in-law Roy Anderson (Shirley). She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Rideau Park United Church, 2203 Alta Vista Drive, on Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. Interment Pinecrest cemetery. For those wishing, donations may be made to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre.

George Thomas (Tom) Armitage - 02/05/2004

(Retired member of the Canadian Forces after 26 years of service and retired from Agriculture Canada after 24 years). Peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2004. Tom Armitage of Ottawa, in his 78th year. Beloved husband of the late Joyce. Loving father of Patricia Smith and Michael Armitage. Dear grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Friday, February 6, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at 12:30pm. Interment Beechwood cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.

passed away peacefully at the Salvation Army Grave Manor on Friday, February 6, 2004 in his 92nd year. Predeceased by his wife Francoise and sister Doreen and brother Eddie. Herbert will be sadly missed by his loving family; sisters Edith, Lillie, Ethel, Rose, Laura and a dear friend Estelle. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his two brothers Lloyd (Anne) and Garry (the late Betty). Dear brother-in-law of Kaye Ackerman, Alan (Bev), the late Olive Ursel (the late Norman) and the late John Ferguson (the late Dorothy). Also loved by his nieces and nephews. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Glebe St. James United Church, 650 Lyon Street (at First Avenue), Ottawa on Thursday, February 12 at 11am. Cremation to follow.
